Oh man. All their bakery looks beautiful but it is dry as a freakin' bone. I had to return the morning bun only to get another dry cake. Also, just flavorless. We walked into Maman around 11:15 on a Sunday, and while it was busy the brunch crowd wasn't too crazy and we were able to snag a table before we considered going elsewhere. I will say it took me way too long to realize this was Martha Stewart's restaurant lol but the decor and vibe were cute- I particularly loved that all the china was blue patterned but all with different patterns. Ordering was quick and easy at the counter and the cashier grabbed the drip coffee right away- I was a little disappointed that my latte came out in a disposable cup as I really liked their ceramic mugs! But the drinks were good. The food came out fairly quickly- my husband got the Belgian waffles with berries and cream and they were absolutely top notch. The waffles were crispy, the whipped cream was rich and they were smothered in berries. I got the quiche with caramelized leeks- it was good but probably only 3 stars in my personal book. There was just so much leek that was 80% of the flavor- the egg just held it together and I really didn't get any cheese. But it was hearty and filling and I still enjoyed it. read more

Love the ambiance of this place. High ceilings and small floral arrangements scattered throughout. The food was standard for a french style cafe. Food did take some time coming to us and there did seem to be some miscommunication between front and back of house. I ordered their seasonal almond latte. Quick review: ok food, nice atmosphere, poor customer service at the register. It is a lovely looking cafe, but after that this is an average place. The pastries are good, but the ones with fillings are overstuffed and messy. That is not a huge issue but they don't serve them without flatware which would have solved it. The actual food we order was ok as well but not worth reordering. The one thing i was the most disappointed with was the experience at the register. Maybe im just used to a warmer greeting and service with being from the south, but the silent pointing and somber attitude spoiled it a little for me from the start. read more

The cashier was so kind so that was an automatic five stars. It's not my first time at maman, but my first time at this location. The chocolate chip cookies are some of my favorites because of the dark chocolate they use. My almond milk latte also hit the spot. Love it here and I feel like it is one of the better chain cafes in NYC! read more

I love Maman for their reliably good cup of Matcha. They don't skimp on the powder and the matcha/milk ratio is perfect imo. I dined solo - we order at the counter prior and they give a table number to take with you so the servers can bring the food to your table. The seats are first come first serve and there's no seat limit enforced, but the turnover is quick, so you're able to find a seat relatively quickly. I ordered their Quiche Lorraine, which had ham and cheese. They heat it up for a toasty slice. It paired nicely with my Matcha Latte. They have water pitchers upon request to supplement your meal, as well as a restroom in the back. While this location isn't as bright as some others, I'd still return if I'm in the area and craving a matcha! read more

Maman remains my favorite brunch spot whenever I'm in NYC, and this visit to a new location was just as lovely as ever. This space felt larger than the other locations I've been to, while still keeping the same cozy, charming, and beautiful vibe that defines their brand. We were a party of three, and each of us ordered different sandwiches and pastries. I got the Katie's Chicken Sandwich, which is one of my absolute favorites and something I order almost every time I'm visiting the city. For pastry, I tried the Cherry Croissant Cube for the first time, and I was honestly speechless. It was incredibly flavorful, delicious, and truly made my day. I 100% recommend trying it. For drinks, I ordered the seasonal Cherry Elderflower Spritz. It was just okay compared to everything else, but not bad. My wife and I definitely thought this was an attractive place to get coffee. That's what drew us in. Service was friendly and again, the cafe was really decorated nicely.... The only problem was that we really didn't like the coffee or the pastry. We had matcha latte and the seasonal latte (i have now forgotten what it was), but both had their own problems. Even after sweetening they were still just not good tasting. The pastries all looked really attractive also, but the almond croissant we got was just really, really dry. As I have on other occasions, I give them the benefit of the doubt that they may have had an off day given the amount of people there. read more

I find the food at maman to be absolutely delicious and the coffee is good. The ambiance is really nice as well - it's a beautifully decorated space that feels sophisticated yet cozy. They get busy but I haven't had issues finding a spot to sit. Service can be spotty depending on the day and person. read more

Didn't know this was a Martha Stewart spot until we got here. Ambiance is nice inside. Cozy and lots of seating, doesn't feel too tight as far as table spacing. Had the Ham and Cheese croissant, it came with little pickle that perfectly complemented it. Had the pistachio chocolate croissant that was their version of the Dubai Chocolate craze- really good. maman is one of my favorites in new york city. literally, it's worth it just for the ambience & the café is absolutely perfect. it had a cute little trendy coffee shop vibe with a very authentic, original feel. for example, there was a tree inside, cute posters explaining different types of coffee, and even little trinkets i found myself interested in shopping around for. i tried an iced cold brew, which was delicious and very standard. i would totally come back here. also, their to-go cups are absolutely adorable. i've ordered from them on uber eats before and, honestly, incredible. their pastries are super yummy as well. today i got the banana bread loaf, which was a bit on the heavier, denser side (common for banana bread), but it was more filling than i expected and overall a very solid pastry. otherwise, there was a lot of seating inside, though i ended up taking mine to go. my drink was ready in under two minutes. i would totally recommend trying out this coffee shop. read more

My first time trying this adorable bakery with lots of hype and it met every expectation. It's a cute spot with wonderful display cases and good vibes. The pastries were INCREDIBLE. I am picky when it comes to sweets and all of the pastries we tried were the perfect balance of sweet, rich and flavorful. It's a good thing I don't live next door because I'd be here daily. Got the papa's breakfast bowl and was kinda disappointed in the food that I got. The home fries were dry and on the salty side. Presentation was excellent and the sauce was good. Sauce added some moisture and a nice kick. However, it wasn't enough to compensate for the dry potatoes. The egg was cooked perfectly and the yolk was runny. I love Maman! Conveniently located next to Bryant Park, this spot is both charming and cozy, with a decent amount of seating--though it gets crowded. You order at the counter, and the staff brings your food to the table. I shared the Wilde Salad and Tartine au Saumon with my dad. The portions weren't huge but good for a lighter lunch. Both dishes were fresh, flavorful, and complemented each other well for a balanced meal. I'd order them again! I also tried a bite of my mom's tuna sandwich, which was tasty but had too much bread compared to the filling. For dessert, the vegan sesame tahini dark chocolate cookie was amazing! It had a soft, gooey center with crisp edges and a wonderfully subtle mix of nuttiness, sweetness, and saltiness. While I've tried several of Maman's pastries, including their famous nutty chocolate chip cookie, the vegan cookie easily takes the crown! We all agreed it's one of the best cookies we've ever had. read more

Fae was super nice and helpful throughout our visit. We sampled a few items from the summer menu--our favorites were the wild blueberry caramel latte (absolutely delicious) and the shaken papaya lemonade, which was tart, sweet, and really refreshing. I'm personally not a fan of matcha, so that ranked lower for me, but it wasn't bad at all. I usually find matcha a bit earthy or dirt-like, but the papaya helped mask that once stirred. The sandwiches were excellent, and the desserts held their own too. I tried the citrus olive pastry, which had a nice flavor--though I think it would've been even better warmed up. The blueberry goat cheese scone was also good and served warm, which I appreciated, though I wish it had a bit more filling. read more

This place is so aesthetically pleasing which is what drew us in. While we waited in line we were trying to decide which pastry to order. Unfortunately we decided not to order a pastry. We observed a couple of flys flying and landing from one pastry to another. We were devastated. The pastries all looked so pretty and delicious but we just couldn't order after witnessing that. They were pretty busy during the time and I completely understand not being able to sway the flies away. Also, I want to say that I have worked in the restaurant industry and there could be ways to help eliminate this issue. This place has exceeded my expectations when it comes to a cafe and bakery. If you're expecting a fast cup of coffee and a snack to-go, I would rethink coming here. This place offers more opportunities to dine in and enjoy refreshments. Despite construction and other obstacles on the outside, the inside of the shop seems well-maintained and offers plenty of seating. The service workers are efficient and friendly. My friend and I ordered one of the well-known pastries, the Cinnamon Bun Kouign Maman and the Regular Kouign Maman. If you're a person that usually craves sweets, these treats will not disappoint. Despite our intentions of staying less than a few minutes, the ambiance of the cafe was relaxing and encourages those to unwind inside. Finally seeing what the hype is about. Super cute bakery/coffee shop, with some other light fare options for breakfast/brunch/lunch. I had the granola parfait and it was very good, as was my soy latte. Service can use a little work, staff were very friendly but my friend's quiche was served cold and had to be sent back to be re-heated. Seating is on a first-come basis but tables turn quickly so you won't wait long for a table to free up. read more

Overall experience was positive, the vibes were beautiful and pastries and drinks are innovative. My go to is the lavender hot chocolate which is amazing! Only caveat is that be prepared for noise and crowds, you have to fight for seats, especially in the weekday mornings as it seems to be a prime breakfast meeting and tourist location. read more

What a gem!! So pretty inside. Found this spot looking on Yelp for a breakfast place and it did not disappoint! The breakfast sandwich with avocado, bacon, caramelized onion, sun dried tomato, egg, and I added chicken on a cornmeal bun was yummy! Excellent coffee and all served on pretty blue plates and cups. Dessert we tried a macadamia but choc chip cookie and a croissant circle filled with brownie and hazelnut. YUM!! read more

Maman has become a bit of a go-to when I travel back to NYC for the weekend to see my friends. This is the third NYC location I've been to and I appreciate the whimsical decor (plants and flowers everywhere!) as well as the sweets AND the food options. BE WARNED: This location is right near Bryant Park so no surprise--it's crowded and loud. The Tribeca location was much more low key :) I got an iced tea, along with two pastries--strawberry rhubarb croissant and the lemon/olive oil cake. I've never had rhubarb and this is such a classic combo that I figured I should try it. I don't know what it usually tastes like, but honestly, the rhubarb is a bit tasteless. The lemon cake is good and very moist though the lemon is a bit muted - when it comes to lemon dessert, I always want more! When I ordered, I also asked if the green shakshouka is warm (yes, it is) and better than the farro salad. I got an emphatic YES. I love when staff give honest recommendations though I have to say, it wasn't my favorite. I would not order it again. They replaced the traditional warm tomato base of shakshouka with a mix of puréed greens and the ratio of cheese and avocado was too low--so many greens left over. I ordered the French onion soup burger which they promote as an award winner. I was not impressed. I asked for the burger medium but it was definitely overcooked. It tasted like they put Dijon mustard on it; I don't know how that flavor relates to French onion. I now know I like Dijon on a burger. The fries were good, crispy. It's a nice restaurant on restaurant row. It could be a nice date spot - simply lit, intimate.

I had a 7pm reservation, but was running late, and they were flexible and told me to come any time. Upon my arrival, I was seated by the piano. The pianist playing that night, Andrew Abrahamsen, was very talented. He played an eclectic mix of songs, including "I Will Survive," Disney's "When You Wish Upon a Star," and "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." As the night went on, he played Happy Birthday for me, and went on a 90s Disney Renaissance spree, playing songs including "Go the Distance" from Hercules, "Out There" from Hunchback of Notre Dame, "Beauty and the Beast," and "You've Got a Friend in Me" from Toy Story. Ordered black tiger shrimp for my entree. It smelled wonderful, and especially peppery once the waiter added pepper to it. The risotto the shrimp sat on was also very delicious. I ended up taking this to go, and it still tasted great later on! For dessert, I chose the lemon tart brûlée with raspberry sorbet. It came with "Happy Birthday" written on the plate with chocolate, and a candle on the sorbet. As always, the ambiance and decor is very beautiful, with portraits of Josephine Baker to honor the revolutionary badass woman. Thanks for the great birthday dinner, Chez Josephine!

My steak was a sizeable portion but I purposely ordered the bigger ounces since I know we'd share. Fries are nice and skinny, perfectly seasoned. Our waiter was attentive and I asked for the table next to us given all the food I know we were getting. He was not sure if he could accommodate but I insisted he check with management. My mother and aunt both had the steak Frites, they liked their steaks but thought the fries were a touch salty. Then came desserts and I had the crème brûlée, my aunt and mom shared the chocolate mousse, and my brother, his girlfriend and my father all had the chocolate lava cake. Out of the three: the chocolate lava cake was #1. Then chocolate mousse then crème brûlée. The restaurant dimmed the lights and had soft music on. The wait time between meals were a bit long in my opinion but it was a small restaurant and they made stellar food and they weren't in a rush to kick us out of the restaurant at all which was very nice. The service was great, they spoke clearly and were ontop of making sure we had tap water and anything else we needed, again they took their time and never made us feel rushed. Highly recommend this place if you're ever in the Hells Kitchen/Times Square area.

For dessert we ordered the Dame Blanche and Profiteroles. I would recommend neither. The ice cream (in both) was poor quality, crystallized and not creamy. A real shame. In all, the meal too 2.5 hours due to the slow service. The soup remains fantastic. I'm downgrading my review to recommend this spot only for soup and salad and not a full, hours-long meal. For that, it's 5 stars, for a full meal a middling 3.

They did however seat us at a table that was directly in the way of a lot of movement through the restaurant. Many waiters found themselves squeezing between our table and another to attend to other tables. Some were carrying very heavy looking trays. Beyond that, we had a blast. We ordered the butter service, which was super fun! The waiters make a whole show of it, seasoning the butter at the table, talking it up a bit, and then allowing us to go to town. The added shallots on top bring an extra hit of umami. The chorizo spread was a little grainy for me, but others at the table were going for seconds and thirds. I especially enjoyed the marinated leeks and the eggplant dip it was also served with. Our entrees were a little underwhelming. We ordered the lobster frites and the french onion soup burger. The burger wasn't overtly French oniony. It was just a solidly good burger. The lobster was delicious, but not anything I am continuing to think about. What I am still thinking about though, are the creme brulees! We ordered the corn creme brulee for a side. It was sweet and salty, with a great crack and chew to the top. I also loved the espresso creme brulee for dessert, which also had a nice light saltiness to it. We also got the spicy orange carrots which were totally delicious. In addition to the espresso creme brulee, we also ordered the lemon ice cream cake. It was bright and refreshing. The only downsides were the wait for the desserts. The wait was so long that our waiter insisted that they would be comped for our inconvenience. However, they were still on the bill at the end of the meal. He did remove them immediately when we pointed them out, though. And finally, coat check accidentally gave our Mother's Day bouquet of flowers to the wrong mom! While there were highlights to the evening, several aspects of the experience did not meet the high standards I have come to associate with the Quality Branded family. First, I must address a significant comfort issue two weeks ago. Our group was seated in one of the large booths, and we found that the cushions were so soft that we sank down uncomfortably low. It was quite awkward to dine when several guests could barely see over the top of the table. For a restaurant of this caliber, guest ergonomics are essential, and I would strongly encourage looking into firmer seating support for those booths. Regarding the menu, we found the oysters to be a bit of a letdown for the $5 price point. The citrus toppings were so heavy-handed that they completely overwhelmed the natural flavor of the oyster. Additionally, as a long-time fan of Quality Meats, I found the steak to be lacking in both presentation and precise execution. I had hoped for a dish that mirrored the excellence of your sister properties, but this fell short of expectations. On a more positive note, your staff was incredibly friendly and attentive throughout the night. We also thoroughly enjoyed the bread and butter cart; the butter was truly lovely and stands up well against international varieties I have tried. Furthermore, your desserts are stunning and were the highlight of our meal.
