This space felt larger than the other locations I've been to, while still keeping the same cozy, charming, and beautiful vibe that defines their brand. We were a party of three, and each of us ordered different sandwiches and pastries. I got the Katie's Chicken Sandwich, which is one of my absolute favorites and something I order almost every time I'm visiting the city. For pastry, I tried the Cherry Croissant Cube for the first time, and I was honestly speechless. It was incredibly flavorful, delicious, and truly made my day. I 100% recommend trying it. For drinks, I ordered the seasonal Cherry Elderflower Spritz. It was just okay compared to everything else, but not bad. Went here in the late morning on a Sunday and was hoping for a better experience. Had to wait several minutes at the cashier to get our order taken, and then immediately felt like a burden trying to order. The cashier just walked away upon us finishing our order and I had to wait another few minutes to get my receipt. The food was mid, nothing super exceptional. I got avocado toast and it was average, nothing to write home about. I also got an iced vanilla latte that was also lackluster, the espresso tasted burnt and I didn't taste any flavor. Ambiance was nice, wasn't super crowded and able to get a nice table I will say. We walked into Maman around 11:15 on a Sunday, and while it was busy the brunch crowd wasn't too crazy and we were able to snag a table before we considered going elsewhere. I will say it took me way too long to realize this was Martha Stewart's restaurant lol but the decor and vibe were cute- I particularly loved that all the china was blue patterned but all with different patterns. Ordering was quick and easy at the counter and the cashier grabbed the drip coffee right away- I was a little disappointed that my latte came out in a disposable cup as I really liked their ceramic mugs! But the drinks were good. The food came out fairly quickly- my husband got the Belgian waffles with berries and cream and they were absolutely top notch. The waffles were crispy, the whipped cream was rich and they were smothered in berries. I got the quiche with caramelized leeks- it was good but probably only 3 stars in my personal book. There was just so much leek that was 80% of the flavor- the egg just held it together and I really didn't get any cheese. But it was hearty and filling and I still enjoyed it. read more

I love Maman for their reliably good cup of Matcha. They don't skimp on the powder and the matcha/milk ratio is perfect imo. I dined solo - we order at the counter prior and they give a table number to take with you so the servers can bring the food to your table. The seats are first come first serve and there's no seat limit enforced, but the turnover is quick, so you're able to find a seat relatively quickly. I ordered their Quiche Lorraine, which had ham and cheese. They heat it up for a toasty slice. It paired nicely with my Matcha Latte. They have water pitchers upon request to supplement your meal, as well as a restroom in the back. While this location isn't as bright as some others, I'd still return if I'm in the area and craving a matcha! read more

My wife and I definitely thought this was an attractive place to get coffee. That's what drew us in. Service was friendly and again, the cafe was really decorated nicely.... The only problem was that we really didn't like the coffee or the pastry. We had matcha latte and the seasonal latte (i have now forgotten what it was), but both had their own problems. Even after sweetening they were still just not good tasting. The pastries all looked really attractive also, but the almond croissant we got was just really, really dry. Unnecessary confrontation over a 5-minute early pickup I'm a regular Too Good To Go customer and have picked up bags from Maman before without issue. This visit was a frustrating exception. The app activated the swipe button shortly after 5PM -- which Maman and several other stores have recently started allowing as an early pickup signal. I went to the store accordingly. The young male Hispanic employee at the register refused to hand over my bag, insisting the pickup window didn't start until 5:15. All the bags were already packed and ready. There were no other customers in line. I tried to explain how the app works and that early pickup had been allowed here before, but he repeatedly cut me off. At one point I said "if you want to play by the book, so be it" -- meaning it as a neutral acknowledgment. He took offense, raised his voice, and kept repeating "I don't play, you play" in an increasingly hostile tone. I asked if he understood the expression. He just kept repeating "I don't play." When I asked to speak with a manager, he said there wasn't one. When I asked what a customer is supposed to do when there's a problem with an employee, he told me to come back tomorrow and talk to him. This was completely avoidable. The bags were ready. It was a 5-10 minute window, allowed by the app. The confrontation served no purpose. I noticed the review posted the day before mine mentions "poor customer service at the register" -- I suspect we encountered the same person. Maman has a good reputation worth protecting. I'd encourage management to review this interaction and make sure this particular staff is trained properly. read more

Maman is one of my favorite cafés, especially if you're at or near Moynihan Train Hall. The coffee is consistently good, the pastries are delicious, and the location is incredibly convenient. It's a great place to grab breakfast, a snack, or a quality cup of coffee before catching a train. I'd definitely recommend stopping in! read more

Quick review: ok food, nice atmosphere, poor customer service at the register. It is a lovely looking cafe, but after that this is an average place. The pastries are good, but the ones with fillings are overstuffed and messy. That is not a huge issue but they don't serve them without flatware which would have solved it. Had the Ham and Cheese croissant, it came with little pickle that perfectly complemented it. Had the pistachio chocolate croissant that was their version of the Dubai Chocolate craze- really good. maman is one of my favorites in new york city. literally, it's worth it just for the ambience & the café is absolutely perfect. it had a cute little trendy coffee shop vibe with a very authentic, original feel. for example, there was a tree inside, cute posters explaining different types of coffee, and even little trinkets i found myself interested in shopping around for. i tried an iced cold brew, which was delicious and very standard. i would totally come back here. also, their to-go cups are absolutely adorable. i've ordered from them on uber eats before and, honestly, incredible. their pastries are super yummy as well. today i got the banana bread loaf, which was a bit on the heavier, denser side (common for banana bread), but it was more filling than i expected and overall a very solid pastry. otherwise, there was a lot of seating inside, though i ended up taking mine to go. my drink was ready in under two minutes. i would totally recommend trying out this coffee shop. read more

I love Maman! Conveniently located next to Bryant Park, this spot is both charming and cozy, with a decent amount of seating--though it gets crowded. You order at the counter, and the staff brings your food to the table. I shared the Wilde Salad and Tartine au Saumon with my dad. The portions weren't huge but good for a lighter lunch. Both dishes were fresh, flavorful, and complemented each other well for a balanced meal. I'd order them again! I also tried a bite of my mom's tuna sandwich, which was tasty but had too much bread compared to the filling. For dessert, the vegan sesame tahini dark chocolate cookie was amazing! It had a soft, gooey center with crisp edges and a wonderfully subtle mix of nuttiness, sweetness, and saltiness. While I've tried several of Maman's pastries, including their famous nutty chocolate chip cookie, the vegan cookie easily takes the crown! We sampled a few items from the summer menu--our favorites were the wild blueberry caramel latte (absolutely delicious) and the shaken papaya lemonade, which was tart, sweet, and really refreshing. I'm personally not a fan of matcha, so that ranked lower for me, but it wasn't bad at all. I usually find matcha a bit earthy or dirt-like, but the papaya helped mask that once stirred. The sandwiches were excellent, and the desserts held their own too. I tried the citrus olive pastry, which had a nice flavor--though I think it would've been even better warmed up. This place has exceeded my expectations when it comes to a cafe and bakery. If you're expecting a fast cup of coffee and a snack to-go, I would rethink coming here. This place offers more opportunities to dine in and enjoy refreshments. Despite construction and other obstacles on the outside, the inside of the shop seems well-maintained and offers plenty of seating. The service workers are efficient and friendly. My friend and I ordered one of the well-known pastries, the Cinnamon Bun Kouign Maman and the Regular Kouign Maman. If you're a person that usually craves sweets, these treats will not disappoint. Despite our intentions of staying less than a few minutes, the ambiance of the cafe was relaxing and encourages those to unwind inside.
