    Brunch buffet
    Nagarathnam B.

This is what I wrote some 5 years back about this place! But now I am changing my review to 5 stars after my today's (Saturday February 24, 2024) visit! To know why, read on starting with my previous review with lone star! "No star. Should have been negative star possibility but not there, otherwise would have given minus 5 stars! Way more pricey for the quality and quantity. I am from Chennai, the birthplace of the chain. Food quality has clearly deteriorated even there. Here, this is a franchise and am not sure how sincerely they will be maintaining the standard, if at all they have one! I don't think I will go again! Sorry, not an ideal Choice for any! The above review is on the day HSB started in Delta. On 28 Jun 2019, again I visited this place with my family! This time for a change, the food was ok. But...there was so much waiting after placing the order! And there was so much confusion! Out of 5 items we ordered, first one was delivered in 5 minutes and the second one in 10. 3rd and 4th arrived after 30 minutes, and with so much follow-up with several staff who were loitering here, there, everywhere. 5th item nowhere in sight yet after 40 minutes!! But then a hilarious thing happened! They brought the 1st item again!!! Taste is good but both production and floor management were terrible! My uttappam was utterly undercooked with raw batter still gooey at the centre! Potatoes in the masala Dosa was prepared in hurry and there were uncooked chunks in between! If you can be patient and tolerant, then go for it! God save you and your time! And there will be hilarious and confusing moments guaranteed!" I visited this place with my partner after almost 5 years (last one was on June 28, 2019) and this is my third visit today - February 24, 2024. My opinion, rating and review have completely changed taking a 180 degrees turn from the previous one star to 5 stars! What made me to do that? First of all the welcoming ambiance. Secondly, the professionalism that was demonstrated in quickly receiving and seating the guests! Thirdly, the courtesy and politeness displayed all through the whole session of our meals! Special mention goes to Sheetal! Fourthly, being transparent about the final bill by asking to check the bill and explaining the fact that there is a 10% gratuity already included but as we are only 2 people, we have the option to get the 10% removed. It is mandatory only for a group of 6 people and above! Up till here, already 5 stars! We had been to them for their weekend buffet special at CAD 18.99 plus GST 5%. And when it came to the buffet spread, we were really enthralled at the variety and choices. There were in all some 27 items on the buffet table plus 2 more by way of table serving namely dosa and poori served hot to your table! So, in all 29 items. Even a spoonful of each item filled our tummy twice as much as have normally though it's a brunch - both breakfast and lunch combined - we wouldn't have eaten this much! When it comes to the quality - visual appeal, smell, taste and the arrangement - every thing scores way beyond our imagination and liking! There should have been an army excellent chefs, cooks and above all a manager must have been in place. We also saw Kalpana, the floor manager constantly moving and driving the workforce and we also saw the overall Manager Natarajan paying regular visits to the floor! We could see the whole place is full and bursting at seams, though it has an ample seating area. What was striking was the demographics of the customers. They were all from every part of the world, not only from India! Things have certainly improved a great deal and we could see a sea change in every aspect of managing this place! Our congratulations to the entire team from the top to bottom and wish everything stays the way it is now! Wish the whole team all the best! If you are looking for a weekend South Indian vegetarian buffet brunch, your search ends here! Go alone or bring along your partner, family, relatives, coworkers and friends, you will never be disappointed. Don't miss!

Food was awesome. Gobi 65, podi dosas, channa bhatura and rava dosa were superb. Filter coffee at end was unbelievably good. Ask for strong coffee.

Great food and very friendly staff. We enjoyed onion rava masala dosa and onion rava kara masala dosa. The kara bit was an interesting take with tomato masala over regular potatoes. We really enjoyed our meal. The ambience is nice and the staff is very polite and attentive.

I came here on Saturday afternoon after Covid related restrictions were drawn off. The buffet looks OK to me. Varieties of rice and Sweet but missing authenticity. Dosa served is fresh that is good .Service is bit slow . Buffet price : $15.99 + taxes + gratuity ( 10%).

I liked Saravanaa Bhavan in India and got excited to find them in Vancouver. We went there for lunch and opted for buffet which was $15.99 plus tax (weekend price). They had a decent spread but sambhar and desserts were the highlights for me. I just wish that they open a restaurant in Seattle aa well :)

I guess its lunch buffet only

There was pinch of spice at this location before which was a good restaurant in terms of taste of food n service . But to my disappointment , this new venture started here has no quality of pinch of spice. The decor n seating is almost same. Lets just talk about food as thats primary rating reason for a restaurant. No good at all. Ordered 2 dosas. Cheese chilly n masala onion. Cheese chilly was mozzarella cheese in dosa with some fresh green chillies. What?. Other pizza had big onion chuncks then finely chopped onions with potatoes. Serving of samber was too less. Infact there was adfitional $1.50 for another bowl of samber. Really? Shirley temple was a disaster too. I have never ever drank such a unpresentable and tasteless drink. They really need to have a professional bartender n not a drink mixer. Nothing against servers but they need professional training . Buffet has limited timings during day. No buffet after 5:00 pm n there is limit of 45 mins to eat buffet. I just wish them luck to survive in surrey. They might be a global chain( according to the pamphlets) but surrey is a hub for indian food. For me ''mayuri " is all time best for south indian food.

I am from Chennai who is settled here. Went here on a Sunday morning for brunch buffet. It's a chain from Chennai City. How would I miss it? Loved it! Except the dessert loved every bit of it. Fresh dosas and pooris yay!!!

Amazing! We went for dinner at HSb today and just seeing the same colors of HSB Tamil Nadu got us I to nostalgia. Ambience and decor was great. Less crowded when we went in. Ordered mini idlis, Sambar vada, onion rava, ghee paper masala and coffee Sambar was as authentic as possible, it's the best. Onion rava was absolute bliss... Came piping hot. Ghee paper masala was good too, I thought it had become warm by the time we got to it. Coffee as usual great!! Definitely calls for another visit. Our host Aman was also very sweet, she made sure to keep asking if the dishes were good. Very attentive and had a smiling face throughout :) We picked a good time to come as the tables started to fill up. :)

Unfortunately, being Good Friday, the staff couldn't accept it because the coupon excludes holidays. Always read the fine print on your coupons, folks! We went in anyways and paid regular price with the small encore loyalty card member discount. There was a very short queue to get in at the time we came. The dining area was busy and only a couple tables were vacant. Most of the food at the buffet tasted average. A few were better than expected, and some things were pretty bad. I'll go over the ones I tasted. The fish pollock and prawns with butter sauce was kind of bland. The sauce added no flavor at all. It did not have the frozen seafood taste some buffets places have, at least. It was OK. The Korean beef and broccoli was alright too. Not much flavor, again. Their sweet and sour pork wasn't that good mostly because of lack of flavor and it was too dry. I came back to the buffet counter a second time and it tasted a little better when they replenished the pork with more sauce. But their pulled pork and chili beans was better than expected. It was a good mix of pork and beans and it was tasty. I got seconds of that. The deep fry veg was straight up disgusting. My friend thought it was mushy artichokes. It had a weird aftertaste too. It looked tasty though. There was teriyaki chicken legs but it was mislabeled as beef lasagna at the counter. The chicken legs was better than expected because the skin was crispy and the rub they used was somewhat tasty. The creamy pesto chicken ravioli was too dry and lacked flavor. You'd have to take extra time at the buffet counter to scoop up the little bit of sauce left for it to taste any better. The stir fried snap peas were alright. They were sweet and freshly cooked and was a good addition of greens on my plate. The stir fried veggie spring roll tasted alright. Not much veggies inside but they had plum sauce on the side for added flavor. The broccoli slaw was actually not bad at all. It was fresh and it had ample amount of dressing. The cake slices were fresh and not stale like some buffets tend to give. Their chocolate cakes tasted alright. But the coffee cake and the cookies tasted kinda bad. I did like their lemon cake, though. Choices of fruit were sliced up cantaloupes, grapes, and peelable oranges. Don't bother with the ice cream. It's bad. I think they used cheaper ingredients for the ice cream machine mix because it didn't taste good at all. They had toppings like sprinkles, marshmallows, and cookie crumbs. The marshmallows were VERY stale. I wouldn't be surprised if it was out there since yesterday. One thing they did right is the choice of soft drinks. They used a touch screen coca cola freestyle machine with many choices of syrup flavors. The Sprite orange drink tasted great. Another thing they did right is keeping the dining area spotless. They sprayed the tables regularly with a disinfectant cleaner after customers left. Staff were very fast in taking the used dinner plates tables. They took my plates almost immediately after I left my table to grab more food. One staff member was very apologetic for taking my unfinished drink off the table when i was gone, haha. 3 out of 5 stars based on this visit. I didn't deeply regret eating here because most of the food here were passable in terms of quality.

They also had live music which was a nice mood setter. You get juice, pop, coffee or tea included with your meal. Alcoholic drinks are extra charge. We had gone on a regular Sunday and not an "event" Sunday so am not sure of other offerings. There was sushi, inari sushi, dumplings, sticky rice (but not sure if the dimsum was leftover from lunar new year special), roast beef, ham, mussels, shrimp cocktail, fried rice, short rib, roasted vegetables (REAL veg not just bagged corn and peas like other places lol), sablefish, grilled chicken, eggs benny station, omelette station, charcuterie, scrambled eggs, toast, bacon, sausage, mini avo toasts and dessert bar. The only real downside is the overall price. I think just given the location I wish it were slightly cheaper. Adults are $45 and seniors are $37. There aren't a lot of good quality buffets around so I do understand it sets them apart it just may attract more guests at a bit of a cheaper price. Or maybe it they had something in conjunction with the casino to offer a discount that would be another incentive to get people across the bridge. I would be more so inclined to bring them back at a different rate as we are coming from Burnaby and Vancouver.
