    Golgappas with water
    Ria G.

Golgappas are one of the Indian street foods that gives you some really bad cravings. And so I went to Apna chaat house shop kinda restaurant where you can experience the authentic way of having Golgappas. This is in Surrey and they also have a full dine in restaurant just beside this shop. This shop has 6 different water flavours, mango, hing, mixed, sweet, mint and guava. You can choose your own Golgappas be it suji, normal or aata made. My favourite was mixed water out of all on aata golgappas. Hing flavour was strong, guava was mild. We took full plate which was quite expensive for some of the golgappas pieces. Water was really chilly so beware of that. But I can say to some extent your cravings will be satisfied. Service is okay, ambience is good - reminds us of India and how we used to stand and get Golgappas in small bowls- but it's on pricey end . I wish they can reduce the prices to some reasonable amount.

If you are looking for Indian comfort food, this is the place to be. The last time I went there was more than 2 years ago when they were just a small diner in Surrey. They recently took over a bigger space and is now a proper restaurant with amazing music, a photo bhoot and great additions to their menu. For drinks we got their cold coffee with ice cream (5/5) and their sweet lassi (4/5). We also got their Chinese Bhel (something you only get on the streets of Mumbai ironically) which was amazing but not as spicy. It was crunchy and tangy. Their volcano masala pav with cheese was delicious and very filling!! It was very similar to the ones you get in Mumbai. Their Ragda pattice (fried potato pancakes with chickpea gravy) was also 5/5. Best part about Apna Chaat House - their customer service!! We got our food within 5mins of placing our order and it was all fresh. When I told my server how impressed I was with their fast service, she said it is because there are multiple kitchen that handle different food departments to make sure the food is served fast enough.. LOVE THAT! Would highly recommend this place.

We have been coming to Apna Chaat House for more than 10+ years and the service is always outstanding. The servers are so kind and warm, so attentive, and so quick. What keeps us coming back is the service, and I would be remiss to not mention that the quality of the street food (eg, goal gappa and Bhature and aloo tiki being our favorite) is next level. The perfect portions, perfectly prepared, always served piping hot. This visit we were taken care of by Jashan who is so sweet and kind and made sure that we felt very at home. I can't recommend this place enough as a Punjabi person who has high standards for Indian street food!!!

Chaat dish is a staple order when near Apna Chaat. Ordered takeout but the interior, service and vibes are always great.

Walked in and didn't know what to expect from this place. I ordered the golgappe and pani puri. I ordered and waited for my turn. I was a bit confused but the worker would hand me the pani puri one by one. You tell her what spiced water you want and she would hand it to you. It felt like a tasting booth because I got to try all the flavors they had out!

This place really has amazing chaat food. We had tea, buttermilk, pani puri, matka chaat and paneer kathi roll. The pani puri you get here will remind you of mumbai or delhi level quality. So yes it's a must try for anyone who craves authenticity in indian food. The ambiance is great. The service is good but bit slow definitely a scope to improve. Overall we loved it!!!

First time visiting the area and saw this place online. Hands down the best chaat outside of my own mother's chaat that I have ever tasted. You must try the Samosa Chaat--perfect amounts of masala and cooked perfectly. The Papdi Chaat was amazing and if I had to say it was missing anything, it would be onions and tomato, however it was still amazing. This is a must try if you're in the area and there's ample seating upstairs. It was a bit confusing as the address took us to a small suite that was a few doors down, but one of the employees saw us and walked us to the main restaurant area.

Really good and filling food! The atmosphere is great! The butter chicken sizzler was really good, the chicken was soft and melted in your mouth. The Chole bhatura and the kulcha were also outstanding. However they took over 25 mins to deliver the Samosa chaat

Tried to come eat here and failed. Looks like there's a health order closure (June 2020) at this point. Interestingly enough, a guy (I assume he's the owner) came out and directed us to Showshaa (a similar but more upscale establishment), which is just a few doors down. Guessing he owns that place too. My friends mentioned the menu at Showshaa is very similar to here, which makes sense. Guess I'll be back to try at some point.

Butter chicken special. Should come with naan or roti instead of this useless thick bread
    Henry C.

Order butter chicken and veg sizzler. It was mediocre. Service was great but food was ok. Butter chicken was good but not good enough to come back. Veg sizzler looked great when served but nothing great. At end of the day, nothing beats Tasty Bistro. I spent $50 here, would have been better to go to Tasty Bistro, way better food, ambience and everything else. There were 4 other tables when we went. I didn't try their Gol Gabas. Honest review The butter chicken special I ordered came with some thick bread that was useless, should have come with naan or roti. Rice was way too much, made me feel like not enough butter chicken

Apna Chaat House is my absolute favorite place to get chaat in the Vancouver metro area. I've only been twice but I've decided this is true as literally everything is so so good you can't help but be excited for the next time you'll eat it. The misal pav specifically is so unique and absolutely delicious. The golgappa's spice is also right on par with what I want and we really enjoy sharing it. It's hard to mess chili paneer up but even harder to make a memorable one and this one definitely is it. Everything is good here! Price point, quality of food, speediness of service - I have zero complaints. Already dreaming about my next Apna visit!

Love the Indian concept and the little humor all over the restaurant. 5stars to the service, completely owned by the women power, the live panipuri is tooooooooo good, best ever and food was awesome, misalpav, bhajipuri was too good Don't miss the aampanna and masala soda

Solid Spot in the Mall, But Some Temperature Issues…read more This was my first time at this particular Ustaad G location, though I'm familiar with the chain. It's situated inside a shopping mall and was pleasantly clean and not too crowded when I visited. I was seated right away, and the waitress was excellent--attentive and checked on me multiple times to ensure everything was good. I ordered my all-time favourite, the Amritsari Kulcha. The bread itself was fantastic and arrived piping hot, just as it should. However, the dish was a bit inconsistent. While the kulcha was hot, the accompanying chickpeas and condiments were only lukewarm. As a former restaurant owner myself, I'm a stickler for this: hot food should be served hot across the board. The portion size was okay, but the garnish was surprisingly minimal--just a few sparse pieces of carrot that looked a bit sad in the tray (see my photo). Despite that, the core flavours were enjoyable. It's not the same as what you'd find in Amritsar, but it's a satisfying dish. Pricewise, well this is Canada and in line with the economy. My Ratings: Ambience: 4/5 - Clean and modern. Service: 5/5 - Prompt and very attentive. Food & Value: 3.5/5 - Tasty, but the temperature issue and skimpy garnish hold it back. A good meal, but with a little more attention to detail on the kitchen line, it could be a great one.

FYI, for any vegans reading this review - this place (Namdhari) makes the food from scratch, unlike a lot of other Indian places we called in the area. The lineups are honestly a bit chaotic, and some lines moved much faster than others for some reason. The trick is to pace oneself and hit each station individually. Also helps to carry 2 plates. Food quality was honestly average. It is a buffet after all. With that said, I definitely got my fill. Be sure to leave some room at the end for ice cream. The place is definitely worth trying once for the experience.

We got a small tamarind chutney sauce for 0.50CAD extra. Total was around 9 CAD which is quite a solid price for a meal for 1 person (snack for 2 people). I liked their potato & peas (original) the most and all their vegetarian options are solid. The meat options are more ground meat so I'm not that big of a fan, but they're still good.
