Food and service were awesome. Very tasty and plenty of food. They have renovated and improved the space!

We went to Sri Periyava Dosa Bhavan and had a good experience overall. We ordered the paper masala dosa and the idli-vada combo. The paper masala dosa was the highlight--perfectly crisp, light, and served with flavorful potato masala. The idli was really good--soft, fluffy, and fresh--and paired well with the chutneys and sambar. The vada was crisp on the outside and soft inside. The flavors were authentic, and everything tasted freshly made. However, the service was slow, and we had to ask several times for extra sambar before it was finally brought out, which took away a bit from the overall experience. The place is simple and cozy, and prices are reasonable for the quality of food. read more

I came here specifically from Seattle on a weekend afternoon for Dosa and it was definitely worth the drive up here. It is busy on weekends so plan to wait for at least 30ish minutes, not sure if you can add your name to the waitlist via phone but give it a shot if possible. The servers were very helpful and prompt and did not have a lot of wait to get our order which was a Mysore Masala Dosa. Their sambar was amazing but the chutney felt a bit watered down, it was still very tasty. I also had their masala chai which was delicious. Overall I'd recommend it if you're in the mood for some authentic dosas. read more

We visited Sri Periyava Dosa Bhavan in Surrey yesterday and had such an amazing experience! The food was outstanding -- we tried the Mysore Cheese Paneer Masala Dosa, Rava Mysore Cheese Masala Dosa, the Sri Periyava Bhavan Spicy Masala Dosa, and Madras Coffee. Every single item was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The restaurant is very clean, well-maintained, and has a nice atmosphere that makes you feel comfortable right away. Special mention to the owner, Kokila, who is so kind and welcoming, and the staff who are extremely polite and well-behaved. Their service really made our visit even better. Since this place is very popular, we had to wait around 1 hour 20 minutes to get a table. For anyone visiting for the first time, I highly recommend searching Sri Periyava Dosa Bhavan on Google and joining the waitlist online to save time. Overall, excellent food, wonderful people, and a great atmosphere. Truly deserves 5 stars and more! Definitely will visit again. read more

This place is definitely worth the hype! Did not disappoint. Got here right at 11 when they opened. Within 20min all the tables were full. This place is small, clean and had a great vibe. Staff are VERY friendly and helpful. We ordered the masala dosa that came with sambar and chutney. We also ordered Idly and side of puri which was huge enough to share. Indian coffee was good as well. Food did not disappoint I was so impressed as the food had good amount of spice and flavor. It was fresh. Highly recommend this place and get there when it opens so you can get a table without waiting. read more

Consistent- everything tasted flavorful- idlis, dosa, sambar, chutney. It's great to see them maintaining the quality.

It is a go to south indian restaurant for us. The food is amazing. Everything is served hot and fresh. The staff is sweet. Their Vada Sambhar is my favourite hot and crispy! The Dosa is delicious. Love going to this place read more

I went here on a weekday morning right when they opened and had a very peaceful meal. This place was recommended to me by my friends who live in Vancouver and they told me they preferred this place over to most of the other South Indian restaurants in Vancouver area. The ambience was very chill and they even had Tamil spiritual songs playing to give it a very homey feel. I got medhu vadai, masala dosai and filter coffee. The vadai was flavorful and crispy and the chutney and Sambar were executed perfectly as well. The dosai was good but definitely missed the mark slightly (I'm being very picky here as masala dosai is very close to my heart). The filter coffee was simply perfect. Overall, really nice to see a family run business serve comfort South Indian food and definitely recommend them. Great food and service ! read more

Great dosa and Iddli after long time. Service was quick that we were served food within few mins we sat . Ambiance is very basic but great authentic South Indian food. Chef came to us and ask how was food and server were quick for your requirements. Dosa were very fresh and cripsy looks like they have fresh batter made every day. Podi iddli was very soft and had ghee flavor . Sambhar and chutney were average though read more

After recommendations from numerous people we decided to try out Sei Periyava Dosa Bhavan for brunch. It is a small not so fancy restaurant. Since we we arrived pretty early there wasn't a wait time. But it got pretty crowded with people waiting out side after a while. We got the podi idly, Podi Iddli Onion Rava Masala Dosa and Uttapam and masala dosa. The food was all very good. Sambhar had good flavors. They were all very sweet to accommodate my mother in laws request to remove garlic from her sambhar. Staff was friendly but were definitely understaffed. Long wait times for the food to arrive on all occasions that we visited here. All in all a good place to spend on a weekend brunch for some good south indian food. But make sure you have plenty of time to wait for a table and the food. read more

Best dosa I've ever had!! Their mysore masala dosa was perfectly crisp and flavorful, and their mango lassi was incredible--fresh and not too sweet. Their jaljeera is a must-try. This is a fantastic place to stop! read more

This place deserves 0 star. Overrated place. Much better restaurants are there in that area. Reasons: 1) Food tastes as if made by a NAIVE COOK. No authentic South Indian flavor. It's filter coffee taste like instant Nescafé coffee and not the authentic ones. Dosas stuffing lacked all spices and flavors. PAID FOR GHAR KA KHANA. 2) A very RUDE staff. She literally told us to leave if we are done although my kid was eating. 3) Cheap Ambience, SMALL SIZE restaurant. NEVER GOING THERE. Complete waste of time and money. And the staff behavior was unacceptable. read more

Food is good, but not enough space for big crowd or even for 5. Will fit 4 with comfort. Very hot during summer. Not A/C. Normal dosa looks like thin crisp paper dosa. read more

Today our family (4 adults & 2 infants) went for lunch to Sri Perivava Dosa Bhavan on Scotts Road. This is a small unpretentious restaurant with spartan decorations but serving Pure South Indian Veg food & is a family owned eating house. We ordered 2 x Veg Thali's , 1 x Plain Ghee Roast Dosa, 1 x Kids Idly -Vada Combo, 1 x Bisse Bali Bath , 1 x Filter Coffee, 1 x Mango Milk Shake & 1 x Thair Vada (Dahi Vada). All the dishes were tasty , correctly spiced & a pleasure to eat. Unfortunately the Thai Vada appeared "stale" & we returned it. Service was satisfactory & the lady (Owners daughter) was most pleasing in accomodating our requests. Overall impression was that the food was good , Thali's tasty but another Veg dish could have been added & chutney's & sambhar tasty with the right consistency . I believe Periyava serves the most authentic South Indian Vegetarian food in the TriCities. Further the music played was the popular South Indian "gayatri mantra " tune & not the typical bollywood hindi music. For true South Indian Food lovers, a visit to Periyava restaurant should be considered. read more

We were thankful to have South Indian vegetarian restaurants. Kurma and sambar were good and so were the idiyappam, dosa and parotta. Good service as well. I wish they give little larger bowls for the kurma especially given that they charge extra for an additional cup. read more

Food and service was amazing. Had a tummy full of yummy Thali. Thank you Maya for ur great service.

This place came highly recommended as one of the best spots for dosas in Surrey and it dint disappoint! Do not expect much of an ambiance as this is a small and homely little space. Authentic and homely tamil food with minimal usage of fat and spices just like what you would be served at a home in Tamilnadu! We ordered the plantain bajji, rasam idli, onion rava dosa, podi dosa and pav bhaji. We loved every dish, even the pav bhaji though not a tamil food was so delicious and well made. Definitely recommend if you are a south indian food lover. read more

One of the best south indian restaurants in the surrey area. Dont judge them by their looks, the food is tasty, and the best south indian restaurants have good chutney/sambar. We stumbled upon this place as we were disappointed with the saravana bhavan in the area and were looking for alternatives. We had some wait time, and the food was great. Their portion sizes were also bigger than what i expected. Definitely try this place if u are in the area. read more

Hands down the most amazing and authentic south indian food ever! We ordered the spicy special rava masala dosa and onion rava masala dosa both of which were super delicious. The spicy rava dosa was a bit more spicy than expected but tasty nevertheless. We also had the podi idly which was the softest and most delicious idli I have had in years! Filter coffee was authentic and came in a cute glass. The ambience is very basic but the food is fabulous. Highly recommend for food that makes your soul happy! read more

This is the BEST dosa Place. It's not fancy but their service and food is OUTSTANDING. Tried their filter coffee which is great as well. Good for small or large groups. I would definitely go back there. read more

Was not expecting anything from closing time dosas, but I have been converted. Ordered several items as we were hungry and was desperate so we settled for a place that was still open. First when I picked up the food, was waaaaay more than I had expected, second when I saw their signage at the store I had to order more! Mind you, they were already closed and they Didn't say no, we're closed, they were super accommodating and nice. Food knocked us on our ass ! Spicy, crispy, fresh and delicious. Couldn't even finish it all as the Sev puri and paneer kulcha were so filling. Hours later we finally tried the vada, miles above others I've tried. I truly hope they keep their humble drive and attention to their food and customers. This is the type of place that has staying power, we just need to ensure we return the favour. read more

Small spot in surrey with tasty dishes! Had the chole batura as shown in the photo and it was delicious and filling. My father ordered the pongal and enjoyed that as well. The customer service was also pretty good! The server brought out our orders quickly and was really nice in general. The chef also came out and checked in on us and others, which I appreciated. We got rawa dosa's and vada from this place and both were really delicious. The sambar and chutney were good too. They gave us dosa with masala by mistake but made sure to call us back to check if we wanted to change which was nice of them. Overall great place to get south indian food. read more

The host and waiters were very accommodating and honest. The food was very tasty and the chef sent us another Dosa claiming that they didn't make the previous one to the best of their ability. We didn't find any difference but appreciate the honesty. read more

Gave two stars for an ordinary food. Took three stars away for lack of ambience, presentation and service. The place looks like a poor man's dhaba. Presentation was not even upto normal standards. Food was served on a very cold almost chilled steel plate. Very long dosas were served on small plates. Service was poor. No one to seat you, uncleaned tables. Potatoes in the masala were stale and drab. Only saving grace was the Sambhar. Dosa was ok ok. read more

One of the best dosa places we've been to. We tried 4 different dosas (butter paper masala, Mysore, Periyava's spl, paneer masala), all were very good. The sambar and chutney that came on the side were tasty as well. The medhu vadais were hot, crisp, light & freshly made unlike the stale, hard ones we get in other places when you order them during dinner time. Will keep coming back to this place for the great food that gives a home-made feel. 5/5 stars!! read more
