The paper masala dosa was the highlight--perfectly crisp, light, and served with flavorful potato masala. The idli was really good--soft, fluffy, and fresh--and paired well with the chutneys and sambar. The vada was crisp on the outside and soft inside. The flavors were authentic, and everything tasted freshly made. However, the service was slow, and we had to ask several times for extra sambar before it was finally brought out, which took away a bit from the overall experience. I came here specifically from Seattle on a weekend afternoon for Dosa and it was definitely worth the drive up here. It is busy on weekends so plan to wait for at least 30ish minutes, not sure if you can add your name to the waitlist via phone but give it a shot if possible. The servers were very helpful and prompt and did not have a lot of wait to get our order which was a Mysore Masala Dosa. Their sambar was amazing but the chutney felt a bit watered down, it was still very tasty. I also had their masala chai which was delicious. The food was outstanding -- we tried the Mysore Cheese Paneer Masala Dosa, Rava Mysore Cheese Masala Dosa, the Sri Periyava Bhavan Spicy Masala Dosa, and Madras Coffee. Every single item was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The restaurant is very clean, well-maintained, and has a nice atmosphere that makes you feel comfortable right away. Special mention to the owner, Kokila, who is so kind and welcoming, and the staff who are extremely polite and well-behaved. Their service really made our visit even better. Since this place is very popular, we had to wait around 1 hour 20 minutes to get a table. This place is definitely worth the hype! Did not disappoint. Got here right at 11 when they opened. Within 20min all the tables were full. This place is small, clean and had a great vibe. I went here on a weekday morning right when they opened and had a very peaceful meal. This place was recommended to me by my friends who live in Vancouver and they told me they preferred this place over to most of the other South Indian restaurants in Vancouver area. The ambience was very chill and they even had Tamil spiritual songs playing to give it a very homey feel. I got medhu vadai, masala dosai and filter coffee. The vadai was flavorful and crispy and the chutney and Sambar were executed perfectly as well. The dosai was good but definitely missed the mark slightly (I'm being very picky here as masala dosai is very close to my heart). The filter coffee was simply perfect. After recommendations from numerous people we decided to try out Sei Periyava Dosa Bhavan for brunch. It is a small not so fancy restaurant. Since we we arrived pretty early there wasn't a wait time. But it got pretty crowded with people waiting out side after a while. We got the podi idly, Podi Iddli Onion Rava Masala Dosa and Uttapam and masala dosa. The food was all very good. Sambhar had good flavors. They were all very sweet to accommodate my mother in laws request to remove garlic from her sambhar. Staff was friendly but were definitely understaffed. Long wait times for the food to arrive on all occasions that we visited here. All in all a good place to spend on a weekend brunch for some good south indian food. Today our family (4 adults & 2 infants) went for lunch to Sri Perivava Dosa Bhavan on Scotts Road. This is a small unpretentious restaurant with spartan decorations but serving Pure South Indian Veg food & is a family owned eating house. We ordered 2 x Veg Thali's , 1 x Plain Ghee Roast Dosa, 1 x Kids Idly -Vada Combo, 1 x Bisse Bali Bath , 1 x Filter Coffee, 1 x Mango Milk Shake & 1 x Thair Vada (Dahi Vada). All the dishes were tasty , correctly spiced & a pleasure to eat. Unfortunately the Thai Vada appeared "stale" & we returned it. Service was satisfactory & the lady (Owners daughter) was most pleasing in accomodating our requests. Overall impression was that the food was good , Thali's tasty but another Veg dish could have been added & chutney's & sambhar tasty with the right consistency . I believe Periyava serves the most authentic South Indian Vegetarian food in the TriCities. Further the music played was the popular South Indian "gayatri mantra " tune & not the typical bollywood hindi music. This place came highly recommended as one of the best spots for dosas in Surrey and it dint disappoint! Do not expect much of an ambiance as this is a small and homely little space. Authentic and homely tamil food with minimal usage of fat and spices just like what you would be served at a home in Tamilnadu! Was not expecting anything from closing time dosas, but I have been converted. Ordered several items as we were hungry and was desperate so we settled for a place that was still open. First when I picked up the food, was waaaaay more than I had expected, second when I saw their signage at the store I had to order more! Mind you, they were already closed and they Didn't say no, we're closed, they were super accommodating and nice. Food knocked us on our ass ! Spicy, crispy, fresh and delicious. Couldn't even finish it all as the Sev puri and paneer kulcha were so filling. Hours later we finally tried the vada, miles above others I've tried. One of the best dosa places we've been to. We tried 4 different dosas (butter paper masala, Mysore, Periyava's spl, paneer masala), all were very good. The sambar and chutney that came on the side were tasty as well. The medhu vadais were hot, crisp, light & freshly made unlike the stale, hard ones we get in other places when you order them during dinner time.
