This was my first time at Dosa Corner! Located on Fraser St with ample seating. Drinks - the spicy lemonade was so good! It was my first time having it and the savoury flavor profile was so intriguing. The mango shake was solid and good for cutting the spice of the dishes we got. Appetizers - chicken 65 was solid, hot and crispy and I loved the three sauces that came with it. The chicken samosa was also the perfect size and had a good amount of filling while keeping the crunch. Dosas - wow, the best in town! And so filling! The butter chicken dosa shocked me in terms of size and weight. The spinach masala dosa was also huge and I loved the thin crepe filled with spiced potatoes. Star of the show for sure! Mains - the biryani was also delicious as a rice dish and very filling. It went nicely with the veggie pakora, which was packed with crunch and spice. Overall amazing meal. A pretty good place to get a fusion of South Indian food with other north Indian mixes. They have more than just vegetarian food so if you are looking for chicken options and other meat options, they have plenty of all of that for you. A good amount of seating and ambience that is nothing special but nothing bad. Service was decent and fast and the food was not bad. You can definitely tell it is a fusion because of the options they have and some of the tastes you will get will not be classic south Indian food. Prices are not too bad, and this is a place. This place is quite off the beaten track yet you see a stream of customers coming in for take out. It is located south of marine and tucked among the auto shops. We waited for a table while the staff cleaned the dining area. It took a while. We decided to share the Dahi vada and butter chicken dosa. The butter chicken seemed to be the bestseller as most customers were ordering that to go and for dine in. The butter chicken dosa was good. The medium spice level was just right for us. I was tempted to order the butter chicken Briyani to go as it was only available on weekends. The dosa itself was crispy and tasty with the chutney. The Dahi vada was nice though it could be an acquired taste for some. It was not what I expected though. I am used to the light airy fritter version in Singapore and Malaysia. This is more cake like. They described it donut but the texture is crumbly like cake. Still good, just not what I expected. Would I make a special trip to drive out here? Have you ever found yourself in this situation while picking up/waiting for your order? The place is busy, no doubt, and you see lots of people also waiting for their food. Then, over the course of the next 50 minutes (and in this particular instance, that was on top of another 20 minutes because it was a phone order), some of the folks leave with their food, while fresh faces come in to place an order, or for pickup, and the place eventually gets less busy, BUT THEN AFTER 50 MINUTES, YOU ARE THE ONLY PERSON STILL WAITING FOR YOUR FOOD? -------- Well, this happened to me at Dosa Corner. 0:00 - Was told order was partially-filled, and to wait 5 minutes. 0:24 - Inquired about order, someone went to the back. 0:27 - A walk-in customer unfamiliar with the menu orders three dosas in person (I overheard the conversation with staff) and leaves her name, let's call her 'C', for later pickup. 0:30 - Inquired again, was told another 5 minutes. 0:40 - Asked for status update yet again, no response. 0:45 - Inquired again. Person asked what it was I ordered. I told them it should be in your system under my name. She disappears into the back 0:46 - 'C's' order is ready BEFORE MINE, and it's much more complicated than what I ordered. 0:50 - Food comes out (an appetizer and a curry) piping hot, with no explanation of the delay. I then pulled a Ken and asked for the manager. He said that he'll talk to his staff, "an apparent mixup" with the order. How was that possible? It was in the queue and it needed to be filled, especially given that I was asking about its progress. That was how my last ever visit to Dosa Corner went down Not recommended because of the poor service. Life is short, don't let them waste your time. BTW, I've dined in before, before COVID hit. The dosas and other South Indian food here are legit! I have some Indian friends who come here quite often, so I've always been curious and was excited to finally try it out. My party of 3 came for dinner around 6 pm on a Thursday in July. While they were super busy with takeout orders, not too many parties dined in. We were all pretty hungry, so we may have ordered too much food...whoops! We shared the following: Medhu vada ($7.25) - the vada (or as I like to think of it, fried dough) were crispy on the outside and soft to bite. The sambar and chutney it came with were delicious as well! Sambar vada ($7.25) - I didn't like this as much as the medhu vada but it's completely personal preference. The vada is soaked in the sambar, so it's more soft / soggy instead of crispy, which is what I like. Chicken 65 ($12.99) - the chicken was fried perfectly and had the right amount of flavor Paneer masala dosa ($12.99) - I didn't eat too much of this because I was already pretty stuffed by the time the dosa came out last, but the couple bites I had were good. One of the best dosas I've ever had! The dosa came out perfectly crispy along the edges with just the right amount of chicken curry in the center. These things are also MASSIVE, I had to take the rest home with me. We also tried the lentil flour donuts (yum) and veggie pakoras. Both very delicious as well. The last time when I came here: 4 stars. It look long time to be served but very tasty hot meal. Today: 2.5 stars. I had Shrimp Masala dosa today. I cut in the middle and had one bite of shrimp and posted the picture on Yelp. Then touched dosa. Shockingly cold. Same as water glass. Inside mushed potato and shrimp part was warm enough though. I called the server and complain the cold food. What he replied was "it's because of lentil". What is that seriously. I said to him to touch it and check by yourself. Then he went back to kitchen to request recook. Today their debit card machine has a trouble and people seemed stressed out to handle cash. I was refused to use $50 bill too. I've been searching for the bet dosa joint and so far, this one is top of my list in DOSA joint. I ordered meat masala dosa ( lamb). We tried a variety of appetizers, curries and of course their famous dosas. Almost everything was excellent, except for the fish curry since the fish was a bit tough. Note that the dosas are really massive so it's really easy to over order here! The crowd favorites were the Chicken 65, which is almost like a spicy karaage and the Roti Chennai, which is a South Indian flaky flatbread. Prices are quite reasonable and it seemed like most people had to pack away their leftovers. We are not very into anniversary celebration thing, but we are always up to good food. So our intuition led us to Dosa Corner today. Spinach masala dosa: it was HUGE and crispy. I could taste the spinach. I like the good balance between the potato masala and dosa. The 2 cold sauces brought freshness to the dosa too. There was a small bowl of spicy and flavorful bean soup by the side. Butter chicken: unexpectedly they provided a big bowl of rice, 2 pieces of naan and a piece of papadam with the butter chicken that made the portion quite big for one person. Sauce was creamy and chicken was soft. I love to have it with naan. Chicken samosa: crispy outside with full of mince chicken inside. Its good with the sweet and sour sauce or curry by the side. Mango lassi: its quite a standard drink. Nice. Fun fact: the fennel with candies they provided at the cashier helps your digestion. Tip: the floor was a bit slippery. Anyway, they played Indian music videos in the restaurant. My husband and I enjoyed the food plus the videos a lot. Watching it made me swing and maybe... maybe it could also help my digestion too. The little dining room was busy, we were seated promptly by a cheerful enough server. Menus and cups of water came quickly after, and our order taken a reasonable time after. My dining companion and I ordered a masala dosa each and an okra curry to share. The meal was quite delicious and well-spiced. The meat in the dosa was cooked well - tender and not so over-cooked that it was mushy; okra curry was in my opinion balanced and ono. Dahi Vada was crispy on the outside and soft inside. I can taste some Indian seasoning blended together. It came with two different sauces for dipping. Masala Tea was delicious, sweet and tasty. Service - Fast service. We got water filled often , but server forgot to bring Masala Tea with our order. She kept forgot about the tea. Had to tell server and ask if the tea is coming yet. I checked out Dosa Corner on a Thursday night and it was pretty busy inside. Seems to be a local joint and a casual atmosphere. We ordered the Roti, Chili Chicken and Paneer Masala to share. If you've never had dosa before, its pretty much large thin crepe rolled up with stuffing inside. There are lots of choices of stuffing, and I picked the Paneer Masala Dosa which is cottage cheese and spiced mashed potatoes. This dish was huge and I would order this again. The Roti came in 2 pieces and a very generous amount of sauce for dipping. This dish was okay. The roti was quite dense and I've had more buttery/flakey roti. The Chili Chicken reminded me of Chinese food and came in the color of sweet and sour pork (although it was neither sweet or sour). I have never ordered Chili Chicken at an Indian restaurant before so I am not sure what it is supposed to taste like. I would rate this dish as average. Overall, If I ever find myself in the neighborhood and am very hungry, I will drop by Dosa Corner again for their generous portions. read more

This is my goto place for Indian food. It's tucked away at the bottom of Fraser, restaurant parking is limited during daytime - even on the streets it's hard to get a spot. During dine-in conditions the venue is packed. They follow covid rules. There are lunch specials for about $12. I usually order a curry and it comes with rice, naan and that papadam and raita. There's dosa as well if you don't choose a curry. Items are made to order, not kept boiling and scooped up. I know because when they're not busy it still takes 15mins for an order. Lots of herbs and spices, sometimes not edible and you have to pick it out but this puts the flavours into the food and shows they spend ingredients. Personally I don't get the dosas because it's too salty for my taste. Besides lunch curries I've also tried the Chicken Vindaloo, all the Biryanis and samosa. All are wonderful. Decor is minimal but venue is clean. I hope prices stay affordable because this is one of the few places that are. Good portion of chutneys. Ambience is good. Staff is courteous and prompt. Spice level is accurate. Even my friend from South Korea liked the food. Brought here first by a friend and since have brought many others. The service is friendly and usually quick. We have shared almost everything on th appetizer menu and everything has been full of flavour (Bhel Puri, roti Chennai and Veg Pakora are great). The entree menu is full of great curries (lamb and goat yum) and the dosas are fresh and crisp. I am a meat eater but really like the Mysore masala dosa is my favourite. The dessert menu has a great rasmali and carrot halwa which are flavourful. Originally, I had my sights on coming here for the purpose of trying one of their dosas off the lunch menu. Unfortunately, I wasn't paying close enough attention and ended up ordering one of the curry dishes off said lunch menu instead. Surprisingly, it was still a fantastic lunch! The curry itself was delicious. It was a mix between salty/savoury from the plentiful lamb pieces and then a hint of tangyness from the tomatoes used. The naan was also a superstar here. It had the perfect balance between chewiness and crispiness without losing any of its delicious oven flavouring.
