Excellent food! The dosa is crisp and the fillings were delicious. The uttapam was soft and cheesy. My favourite was the fish pakoras, so well seasoned! Portions are generous and the food leans a bit salty. We had lots of leftovers to pack. Service was fast and pleasant, one waitress covered the entire small restaurant and she was lovely. My group of 4 tried to go to Dosa Corner down the street, but because they're closed on Mondays, we opted to try Dosa Hut nearby instead. We came here on a Monday afternoon around 6:30 and it wasn't too crowded. There isn't that much seating inside, just 5-6 booths that fit up to 4 people each. They've removed all the regular table seating inside for social distancing purposes. The menu is quite extensive, with plenty of appetizer and entree options to choose from. I love that you can also customize your own dosa, which I've never seen before. We shared: Vada ($6.25) - the vada was fried well and was the perfect crispiness on the skin. Went well with the sambar and various chutneys Vegetarian kothu paratha ($11.99) - this was my first time trying this dish, but it was a little bit too spicy for me. Essentially they take paratha, cut it up to small bits, and fry it with vegetables (or a protein of your choice). Was an interesting dish to see on the menu, and my other friends who can handle spice all enjoyed it Chicken biryani ($13.99) - my personal favorite dish of the night. Family owned business,Punjabi,so I believed dishes here will be delish because I had few Punjabi friends who cooks really good Indian food. Medium size restaurant,free street parking,I came early,Its part of my plan to be always first client when they open so with that im sure all tables still clean and newly sanitized,same with washroom and another reason service crew is still fresh and not tired,how these people treats me always affects my review. i like the color of the exterior its bright orange so attractive,interior design is simple and I noticed its inspired by a peacock that is a lucky charm for business aside from elephant and horse. Amazing how the blending of spices and flavors with the chicken and potatoes in it, 3 dipping sauces on the side. The crispy dosa tasted very very good,looks like its cooked with butter,very thin and crispy. The filling is amazingly good,im actually salivating from the smell,for some reason South Asian cuisines really fulfilled the cravings of my tastebuds, Im so full that I have to go morethan half of my dosa,no room for dessert aswell hahahha. I actually want that dosa cheese cone but maybe nxt time. This is a good Indian restaurant but they should fix the exhaust from the Kitchen the odor is so strong and it sticks on your clothing. Washroom is clean but maybe a small make over is needed otherwise the whole experience was very pleasant..affordable good Indian cuisine. I've always heard good things about Dosas, so I suggested to my husband that we have this for dinner tonight. It was already 9pm and I didn't want to cook and we were both a little lazy so we decided to check it out. I'm glad we did because the Dosa was actually quite nice. We ordered lamb curry, naan and rice for my husband; and a chicken and butter sauce Dosa for myself. The lamb curry was okay; we absolutely love lamb and can get picky about how it is cooked. This one could've been better; I think it lacked spice and could've had more kick. The ratio of sauce and meat was pretty good. As you can see in the picture, the serving is quite messy. I'd usually want to return a dish back to the kitchen if it came in that state to the table but this isn't fine dining so I don't think they really care about these details. It's a shame because it could turn out to be such a good experience if they paid attention to these things in the kitchen. The naan was a disappointment. It tasted and looked as though it came out of a frozen box. It could've been so much better. It lacked flavour and was just bland. The Dosa was the star of the show. It was huge and quite filling. I really enjoyed it. The condiments were nice especially the coconut chutney and mint chutneys. I didn't think the dhal had to be on the plate, it didn't really serve a purpose and I didn't like that it tasted tangy. The butter chicken Dosa was really good. I didn't know how to order it but the server was really sweet and happily helped with the process. If I were to provide some constructive feedback, I'd suggest: - work on dećor if you're able to because your food is good but the arrangement inside the restaurant is outdated and unappealing. Perhaps get rid of those huge booths that does not serve any purpose rather occupies space unnecessarily. - Clean glasses and cutlery properly, they still have water stains and don't look very clean. - Check up on customers at least once in a while in case we need something. - Wipe down any mess on serving dishes before taking it out to customers. I'm sure some won't mind it being messy but most would prefer something more appealing. All in all, good food and I believe there is so much potential for growth. read more

Updating my 4-star review because the service here is the WORST. We've been coming since they opened because we liked their food but don't know if we'll be coming back any time soon after this experience. We ordered three entrees and as usual the food tasted good so we were eating as we talked. Then my dad found a long hair in his dosa and asked the waiter to come look at it. The waiter took away his plate, no apologies or anything, and acted incredibly surprised at our finding. At this point we didn't want to make a fuss or argument. The restaurant wouldn't take the dish off our bill, so we didn't insist. Buckle your seat belts. It gets worse. 5-10 minutes later as I'm packing up my dish into a takeout container I FIND ANOTHER HAIR IN MY DISH. TWO entrees have now had hair in them. We show the waitress and she takes the hair, throws it out, and asks me if I still want the dish. Excuse me?! Then she goes on to insist that the hair couldn't have been theirs, and it must have been my hair. At this point we got pissed and asked to speak to a manager. The restaurant's view of compensation was a 10% discount. You have hair in two of your dishes and all you give the customer is 10%? I don't want to pay for food I couldn't eat because of unsanitary cooking conditions. After arguing, they agreed to take the cheapest dish off the bill. They left the other dish on the bill still. I don't care how good your food is. If you can't treat your customer well, there are other businesses who can serve me dosas. read more

Great place to try out Dosa! They have daily specials but the best day to come for dosa is on Wednesday - rougly you save $3. Out of curiocity if my girl would like Dosa, she said yes to going to this place. We were wanting to try Dosa corner but then we bumped to this place on the way down fraser and this place looks like there are seats when it is usually busy at night. So in we went and we got good service. They will serve you cold "no ice" water which is perfect during any hot summer with muggy weather. Selections are plenty and the server seems knowledgable with the menu. We ordered what was recommended - chicken vindaloo dosa ans shari shari butter dosa. Both are great accompanies by side sauces that tastes like lime, coconut and red peppers along with a vegetarian soup. I felt for the price we paid for, there should be more filling inside. A friend brought me here for lunch. They have some lunch specials for 8.99. All are vegetarian meals that are at that price range. We ordered chicken masala dosa for 12.99. To be honest there wasn't much meat at all so next time we will order the vegetarian dosa. The dosa is an interesting dish. It's like a big crispy crepe with whatever you want inside it. It's cumbersome to eat but tasty though. We ordered the fish pekoras and they were so delicious and juicy. I think I might order more of those next time! Took my wife here for her birthday as she always wanted to try dosas. The food here was very good, dosa was nice and crispy and the fillings we ordered were very nice. We also ordered vegetarian samosas which were a good size and had a nice subtle but distinguishable flavor. Could have used a little more peas but overall very good!. read more

Update: still delicious, still welcoming. I took two friends recently, one from out of town and another who wasn't sure she liked dosa. Both were VERY pleasantly surprised.i still love this place! It's a little out of the way, being at 56th and Fraser, but so worth the trek. Had an amazing lunch yesterday with a crispy onion rava dosa filled with eggplant that was flavourful, well seasoned, and not too spicy. It came with soup and three chutneys. I have plenty of leftovers for my lunch today. They only just opened a couple of weeks ago so you might not have heard of them. The young chef/owner was previously at Dosa Corner, also an amazing dosa place, but pretty crowded ay lunch time and not convenient to get to. Plus I think this new menu is better because it was created by the chef, who came to our table to see how we enjoyed our lunch. I wish him loads of well deserved success. The food I tried was outstanding and very reasonably priced. If I had one minor not complaint but suggestion, it would be to spruce up the decor a little bit because the food is so fantastic. They just opened a food truck today and I was so happy to try their food out. The price is so reasonable 2 dollars for samosas . The lady working in the food truck was super sweet . Please do t visit this restaurant...the food I Received was very bad, I felt like they are using the oil over and over again for different dishes. I also felt the taste of agino moto, which is an artificial taste enhancer which is very harmful for us. I believe it's banned in canada but I am not sure. My wife and I ate here last night as we had a entertainment book coupon for the place. The neighborhood is not the cleanest as we saw a lot of stray garbage outside on the sidewalk and even in the outdoor patio eating area. The place is like a hole in the wall on a corner of a relatively quiet area. After going inside, we were greeted by a very tall aquarium display with bubbles going up. It deserved attention since it was very neat and I have never seen this before. The tables were sticky and the place was small but that is not too important since it is the food and service that really matters. We were greeted promptly and we ordered vege samosa appetizer, chicken vege dosa and chicken curry The food arrived with 5 minutes and I was surprised how fresh and tasty the samosas were. They also came with ample dipping sauce. What is more surprising were the entrees - they were large and very uniquely presented. The food was extremely delicious and I can say that after sampling Indian food for a few years that is the best South Indian cuisine restaurant I have been to; having good service, delicious food and the best presentation. Nirvana restaurant on main and Kingsway and Ashiana Tandoori on Kingway would be tied at 2nd place and Agra Tandoori on Canada Way would be 3rd place. I will mention again the tabletops were sticky and we did have one piece of hair in our food but the top notch food and service make up for it and I think this still deserves 5 stars. read more

Then we went one time and they would not honour the coupon, saying "We don't do those on weekends." Close-ish on my way home from work, it is really a 10 minute bus ride, however, once in a while I have a craving for Dosa's and this place is one of the few that I like to frequent. I get the vegetarian filling which is mostly potatoes and some mild spices, however, this is super filling, especially if I have been working late and I can't wait the entire 25 minute bus ride home when I am hangry (the emotion). I came here with my family. Punjabi owned so I wasn't sure if their South Indian fold would be good but it was!! I ordered the paneer uttapam and loved it. My sister ordered masala dosa with masala on the side and my mom ordered rava Dosa. All of the dishes were tasty!! Chutneys were great. I wish I tried the shahi Dosa. Loved the service as well. The dosa is excellent. My favourites are the mixed veggies dosa and eggplant dosa. The stuffing is generous + the chutneys (coconut, tomatoes, cilantro mint) they come with are super fresh. The appetizers are also very good. My favourite is the chili paneer dish- tastes very chinese-indian in flavour. The only downside is service. They forgot to give us glasses despite giving a vase of water. Also the cup for chai looked very dirty, probably from spilling. Highly recommend if u value food over service. read more

Based on food and value for money I would give the place 4 stars, however it really irritates me that it is cash only and there is conveniently an ATM in the restaurant. Between square and all the easy ways to accept credit card and interact it's super sketchy to have an ATM and inconvenience your customers for $2.25 ATM charge (that goes straight to the owner). Charge me more for the delicious food, it's good enough, I would pay. But the owner placed ATM machine is really shady... I get it, I get it, lose customers but at least they will pay $2.25. read more

I've had the masala dosa, the onion dosa, and the chicken biriyani here, and it was all pretty great, especially the dosa. After having the paper masala dosa in Sri Lanka, and starving for good ones here, I ended up totally satisfied with Dosa Hut. The location isn't the best, and for some reason the air conditioner was on in December, but it was tasty and affordable, with fast service. It's a casual, no-frills place, but I would definitely come back. Their dosa will make you very happy. read more

Was intrigued my the indo-chinese fusion, but this is trying to be too many things. The 'manchurian' take on some of the dishes is like something you make when you first move out and live with roomates, and one person learns how to make a stir fry. Fish pakoras were not pakoras, just deep fried with a sprinkle of spice and no flavour. Chutneys are bland and/or sweet. Oddest thing was a veggie dosa that was served with... wait for it... chocolate sauce on the plate! Not sure what's going on, but with so many solid options for tandoori or other indian around this place isn't worth coming back to. read more
