Rogan josh, butter chicken, chicken vindaloo, prawn vindaloo, fish curry, mixed grill, chilli paneer, garlic naan, rice pilaf

3.5 stars. Somehow I survived. http://www.yelp.ca/biz_photos/original-tandoori-kitchen-vancouver-3#DH6Dz61CvyvfpB5juNcvnQ The above was a total onslaught to the midsection of your body. Naan is one of the worst things you can eat to explode yourself but it sure the hell was tasty with all of the sauces and curries! What was at the table: Veggie pakora Butter chicken Prawn vindaloo Chicken vindaloo Rogan josh Fish curry Chilli paneer Mixed grill - comes out on a sizzling hot plate Rice - basmati with cumin seed and peas - this is what you order, not the plain basmati Garlic naan. Whew! General comments. - I wouldn't order any of the vindaloos again. It was too mild tasting and watery to me. I've definitely had better. The resident experts at the table agreed with me. - Butter chicken was pretty standard. - Rogan josh was the deepest spiced of the curries and the hottest. I liked this one. Again, the resident experts agreed with me. - Veggie pakora here was likely the lightest spiced pakoras I've ever had. The chickpea flour was very mildly spiced. Good none the less. - Garlic naan was good, but I would have preferred more garlic and more ghee brushed on. I want a heart attack!!, Not later......but NOW!!!! =D Food was pretty good, but didn't completely wow me. I'm being a bit of a snob, since I can make some of this at home. Pricing was maybe a tad higher than other places. Clean interior and clean washrooms. I'd come back.

Combination dinner

We came here because some of our friends recommend it to us. The first thing we noticed was the decore it fancier than most Indian restaurant that we have been to but it wasn't our taste. And the lighting was quite dim it would have been nice if it was brighter. We has no issue with the service. Our server was nice and attentive. We ordered the dinner combination and the korma . Everything was quite delicious. The only thing is that there was almost no meat in the dishes with contained meat. The sauce was really yummy but for the price I expected a little more. Overall we will come back to try this place again.

Top: Malai Kofta & Butter Chicken

Very elegantly decorated.  Friendly hostess lead me to table as I had reservations - I was 10 min.early so I ordered a hot lemon water.  Nursed it for awhile before my friends came in where we ordered the following items: Malai kofta Vegetable samosa Butter chicken Bhindi bhahi Spinach Naan after perusing the items on the multi-choice menu.  The choices we made were delicious, however the samosas could have been a bit bigger as there were only 2 with a couple of sauces accompanying the dish. The butter chicken was good but a bit too much sauce than chicken cubed pieces considering it was served in the traditional silver rice size bowl--same for the Malai Kofta (deep fried cheese balls in special saice). Parking is plentiful at the back of the restaurant including street parking on the side street. The bill came to $60 & a few change - very reasonable as we split the bill among 4 attendees - so it worked out to $17 per person including tips. I'll definitely come here again and order other items on the menu.

Eggplant Bhartha.

We went mid afternoon on a Friday and had the place to ourselves. The place was warm on a chilly autum Raincover day. The decor is very pleasing and welcoming. We had butter chicken ( mild )which was smooth and delicious. Eggplant Bhartha ( spicy ) which had many layers of flavor and very pleasent. I thought the portions was a little small for the price. The Naan was to die for, we had garlic and spinach. The spinach naan was amazing. Hot, fluffy and savory. The garlic Nan also was very good. For desert we had the coconut nan, (Peshawri nan )which was a show stopper. The goodness was sublime, stuffed with coconut, rasins, pistashios, cashews and almonds. They have 14 vegetarian dishes. This is an extensive menu which I don't know how they could keep up. We were satisfied but I would try another resto next time.

Good service. Tasty food. Good seating. Nice atmosphere. My second time in an Indian restaurant and I was like wow this was in my neighbourhood all this time?!?!? I will be returning again as the menu had a good reasonable prices and a good selection of foods.

The location is central and it was easy to find street parking on Main Street. Even though it was a Saturday, we were the only table for most of the evening. We were a bit anxious because of the lack of customers; however, there were delivery drivers picking up orders regularly, so it looks like most people did not dine in. The place is clean and seating was comfortable. There is a bell on the table for us to call the server when we were ready to order. We ordered the Lamb Shan-e-Babur that serves 2, the Prawn Coconut, and the Chicken Karahi. The dishes do not come with any rice or naan, so we had 2 orders of rice and 2 orders of naan. Even though the rice portion was generous, we still found it quite pricy. Each of us was given a bottle of water (Pure Life), unnecessary use of plastic is not something that I like to see. And even worse was the surprise when we got the bill that there was a charge for it! The food was delivered by a robot. The portion was reasonable and the taste was good. The lamb was well cooked and tender, the prawns tasted very fresh, and the chicken had the perfect taste, the spice level was just right for all of us. The only thing that was a problem was there were some small sharp broken pieces of bone in the Chicken Karahi, my friend had a painful bite when she thought she was only having the sauce on rice. I would come back for the taste of the food, but I will definitely turn down the bottled water.

It was my first time having it and the savoury flavor profile was so intriguing. The mango shake was solid and good for cutting the spice of the dishes we got. Appetizers - chicken 65 was solid, hot and crispy and I loved the three sauces that came with it. The chicken samosa was also the perfect size and had a good amount of filling while keeping the crunch. Dosas - wow, the best in town! And so filling! The butter chicken dosa shocked me in terms of size and weight. The spinach masala dosa was also huge and I loved the thin crepe filled with spiced potatoes. Star of the show for sure! Mains - the biryani was also delicious as a rice dish and very filling. It went nicely with the veggie pakora, which was packed with crunch and spice. Overall amazing meal. Broccoli and cauliflower were way more softer than expected, but nice flavours. - Chicken Kondattam: Very good. Still a bit crispy and loved the spices. - Raw Mango Bhel: Good. I really like the flavours and textures in this dish. Just wished it didn't get soggy so fast. - Hyderabadi Murgh: Good. Just a great dish to go with the rice. - Khurmani Kofta: I didn't enjoy this one. I've never had this dish before, but tasted more like a dessert. Maybe something I'm not accustomed to. - Ginger Lamb Biryani: Good. Well made and very fragrant. - Rose Pistachio Tres Leches: OK. It was fine. Not too sweet, but nothing outstanding. - Classic Coconut Payasam: Good. Very simple but comforting. Service was pleasant. No issues came up. Overall, a good meal. I enjoyed most of the dishes, and felt it reasonably priced. I'd consider coming back

The servers took great care of us. My favorite dish was the Ragda Samosa Chaat. I actually wanted to order a second one, but I asked one of the lovely servers for a recommendation instead. She suggested the Dahi Puri Chaat, and the layers of flavor were incredible! The fresh yogurt, chutneys, and pomegranate made every bite feel like a party in my mouth. Obviously, the garlic naan and chicken curry also deserve an honorable mention. The staff warned us that another party was arriving at 9:00 PM, so we were trying to wrap things up. This made it even more surprising when they brought out a mango-coconut dessert with a candle and sang 'Happy Birthday!' I felt so special. It was a lovely surprise that made the whole experience memorable. Thank you to the Sula team--you made my day!

Went well with the sambar and various chutneys Vegetarian kothu paratha ($11.99) - this was my first time trying this dish, but it was a little bit too spicy for me. We passed the toilets and the storerooms and I had a feeling it wasn't going to be a clean restaurant. The restrooms were dirty and dingy and so was the floor. The sous chefs moved around in gloves which I saw them use to pick up trays, touch raw food and everything in between. The music was so loud that after a point I felt like leaving. Once we sat down the servers were warm and courteous but oh so overwhelmed. Too many people too little servers. Menu is not exquisite but basic. We ordered goat pepper fry which I felt was exactly what it said. Peppery, feisty and delicious South Indian goat dish . Butterchicken was blah. I know we shouldn't have ordered it at a place like this but tell that to a 10 year old. Naans were basic and nothing stood out. Finally what we came here for, the biryani. We ordered the chicken biryani and the taste was nothing out of the park. I was just happy that it was not loaded with elaichi. Overall, food was good but the place is overall a chaos.
