Visited here with friends after a long time. Surprisingly, the cost for weekend dinner doesn't appear to have changed much, if at all - was $104 for 2 buffet and 2 drinks plus tax and tip. I don't remember there being any beef short rib (LA galbi) on my previous visits, so that was a nice surprise. The marinated pork shoulder was very good as usual. The deep fried items seemed old, cold/lukewarm and very tough/chewy. Too bad because I used to love their chicken wings. I noticed a shaved ice milk machine with an assortment of jellies and red bean. The machine was hard to operate and only some of us were successful in grabbing some. Still a reliable option for large groups but I wish there were more options to choose from in Surrey. read more

Food was cold and there weren't much refill when I dined in with my friend yesterday. Food used to be so much better on my first visit. It was very disappointing as there were lots of cold food in the buffet warmer. I also got to eat sweet and sour pork that was cold and hard. I'm not sure why they left food like that. It definitely didn't fit a price tag at all. Nothing special on food here. There were only thin sliced pork and beef along with some chicken. I only saw a refill for sweet and sour pork while everything else were cold. It wasn't worth it at all. My friend and I grilled some meats that was about it. read more

This place has a line before they opened and I can see why. They did not have a bunch of options for meat to cook but they had just the right ones like the kalbi and pork belly. The other foods was cooked like the shrimp, fish, etc. It's not like your standard kbbq where they bring the meat to you, you have to up and grab it yourself. Check them out. Seoul grill house is a Korean bbq all you can eat buffet style restaurant in Surrey. It's really close by the Surrey guildford mall and landmarks! Plenty of parking available, I suggest you could even park by the landmarks and there are stairs that could take you even closer for the restaurant. This is such a good place to go to after a movie night, it's an all you can eat dinner buffet and date night or big get together. I enjoyed the dinner service starting around 6pm and by 7pm it got even busier on a weekend night. There were big parties of people and I liked sitting at the booth with our very own grill top (that each table gets to grill their own meats) They have such a variety of selections, all the Korean food classics and I felt like I was transported to Korea with all the foods from meats, soup, sides and of course kimchi. I got a plate full of banchan (which is their side dishes like kimchi, edamame, bean sprouts, fish cakes to name a few) and then I enjoyed eating their japchae (glass noodles) and their fried chicken wings with regular and saucy ones. Of course we grilled lots of meats like beef and pork, we got pork belly and my favorite beef short ribs it was so delicious. Super smoky and bbq the way I like it! After you grab some fresh fruits like apples and oranges to cut the fattyness and end it off with some delicious ice cream They had 4 different types of icecream in a huge tub (vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and mango) that was the best part. I'm a sucker for icecream my sweet tooth. I liked that they had more flavours besides the vanilla/chocolate combo. Such a good dinner and place for a fun get together with lots of variety if you want to try out Korean food and get your grill on! Read reviews and since there seemed to be so many good reviews, we tried it out for lunch. Basic AYCE service, nothing to write about, was not really impressed but maybe it had to do with a late lunch as it was quiet with maybe two other tables. Not everything seemed fresh and the meat options were minimal including what i think was chicken hotdogs. We are glad we went and tried it, and would we go again? Was planning on going to a place next door which was unexpectedly closed. We ended up going here. We were quickly seated in a Smokey restaurant. The decor was a bit dated and the place wasn't as clean as I would have liked. The buffet selection was ok. The cuts of meat for bbq were definitely on the cheaper end, pork chops, chicken, inside round beef. The cooked food was hit or miss. Overall, I probably won't be returning. I love KBBQ. I love AYCE. Does that mean I love Seoul Grill House? Yes. An emphatic YES. It's not a pretty place. It's a little bit like taking a ride on a time machine when you enter the front doors. The decor is old and dated. Covid prevention measures are all kinda slapped in and don't really make things look any better and of course there are the sticky floors due to all the grease from the barbequing... but you know what? I don't care. For a fair price, you get your choice of a bunch of different prepared Korean dishes including noodles, soups, and appetizers. You also get to burn your own meats from choices like pork, beef, and chicken. That's why you come here and that's why you leave with a full belly. If, for some reason, you didn't fill up on that... they've got ice cream! Much of the staff has turned over, but that's actually been a huge plus for this smoky, greasy meat palace. The staff were super friendly and attentive on my most recent visit. It's not that the previous were not, but the new staff running around just seemed a step above. I'm a fan. read more

Called ahead but was told no need for reservation...just walk in. We've always wanted to try this ayce korean bbq place. So we got there. Place is huge. Lots of tables for sure. Dont expect to be given gloves to handle the tongs of the buffet. They didnt hand those out to us. The experience tho, was average. For lunch bbq, they had at least 3 kinds of meats. Marinated thin pork shoulder, marinated chicken, and marbled slices of fatty beef. They also had a lot of side dishes and cooked food like kfc, some cooked fish, cooked chicken, and glass noodles, fried rice, vegetables, 3 kinds of soup, and fruits for dessert. For the price, the korean bbq ayce cannot be beat! Just that and the side dishes alone, money's worth already. The cooked food, i mean...it can be improved! But the side dishes like pickled radish, cucumber, noodles, all were good. Cant complain for the price. Service was also awesome. Im giving 4 stars coz of this. Our water bottle was always replenished and our cooking grill plate, always changed without being asked. For an korean bbq ayce...its amazing value already. I think this place is decent for AYCE. Lunch price is ok though it has been going up as with many other places. Dinner is definitely not worth it as it is pricey for what you can eat. One thing I noticed about lunch is that they do not really replenish the food. The raw meat is plentiful, but not the cooked items or ban chan. At 1-2 pm, the jap chae was all out, and the buffet was till 3 pm. But at 245 pm I saw the jap chae again but the people getting them were the staff. The beef and radish soup was also out by 2 pm. So lesson learnt is, if you like something, go get it before it is out. And try to go there early for lunch as there may not be much if you are there after 1 pm. There are 4-5 types/cuts of meat (chicken, beef, pork). They are regular meat, but you are not paying for premium cuts anyway. Since you get to grill them yourself, you get to control how you want it done. The beef is good if you eat it right off the grill. It gets hard after it cools. Of what I have tried, I like the beef, the jap chae and ban chan and the beef and radish soup. read more

I would say this is the cheapest Korean BBQ place in town that I have ever seen but it was not wow when I came. Well let say not even close to being wow. Prices are wow for sure. Food taste was not. $16.99 per person for lunch was definitely very cheap. We were a table of three and we came here with good expectation of flavorful BBQ meat. I mean from the reviews this place sounded like wow. Well, we got seated at a table were the BBQ didn't have much fire/heat. Meat took a long time to cook. We got lots of beef but they tasted like they were not marinated at all. The meat were fresh. I mean the turnover n the meat must be quick. I mean the restaurant was completely full at noon. Yes the restaurant is very big. Yes we were disappointed with the meat. One thing that kind of bugged us was the server kept on turning the heat down for us. We do like our meat slightly burnt. The sides were not bad. I liked the Korean sweet potatoes and their glass potato noodles. Their fried chicken had a very interesting batter to it. I mean it was tasty. First time back during Covid 19 period, and they have implemented more safety plans. Gloves are provided for customers when you come in, and customers are needed to wear their maks and gloves when you go to buffet bar to.pick your food. Store is clean and they keep separate for tables to keep social distancing. I've to give two thumbs up to their efforts to keep those rules and keep their staffs/customers safe. Food still fresh and clean compared to other all-you-can-eat restaurants. Prices are unbeatable. Been to Korea many times, and Recall that 15-20 years ago there were only a handful of decent Korean restaurants here. That's changed. Most recent foray was to Seoul Grill House for a buffet lunch. Buffets can be good--- and they can be ..... well ... not so good. This place, however, is good. Their lunch buffet has an excellent variety of tasty noodle dishes, many of them delightfully spicy. There's various spiced vegetables, soups, deep fried fish, and gyoza. I recommend the spicy sweet potato noodles! And of course there's kimchee. They offer several varieties -- but keep in mind there are over 200 different varieties of kimchee. Although it's buffet, there's plenty of sliced/chopped meat -- beef pork, chicken in various stated of marination that you can grill at your table. For those less-inclined to grill -- they have already-cooked Bulgogi Pork, and Bulgogi beef. Both were delicious but the buffet lacked pieces of lettuce thar you could wrap around strips of grilled meat, garlic and kimchee! Overall, service was very good. You serve yourself, but friendly staff circulate to replenish water and tea, and remove plates from the table. The atmosphere is comfortable and spacious. A bit noisy but it was full of families. It had an authentic feel about it--- reminded me of a typical family restaurant in Seoul. Would I go again? Yes! read more

How do u judge if the place is good enough? When people come to eat their own cuisine and call it just like home cooked food you know ur at the right place! This place is full of Koreans having a gala time. You feel like you are a part of their party! We decided to celebrate my birthday here and walked in at 6pm without reservation on a Sunday evening. We didn't have to wait. We were seated and were explained how the system works. You bring your meat at the table and grill it urself. Okay how hard can it be? To be honest we were a bit overwhelmed to begin with. There was so much raw meat and I thought blasting it at the Barbeque will work but it didn't taste well. Then we moved to the marinated meat and that's when the love story began. The marinated pork is so juicy and tender that I wish I had five stomachs to eat it all. The Barbeque was easy to use and the Barbeque plate was changed often as it got sticky and Smokey due to the sauces. The buffet was so delicious. The sweet and spicy chicken was to die for. Kimchi, mushrooms, fish balls, fried chicken, yummy!! The winner for me was the fish cutlets with tartar sauce!! The tartar sauce was the best I had ever had. So good! It just got tooo hot with the whole place steaming up due to the live Barbeque's. We had Sapporo pitcher to beat the heat. They r strict about not wasting food and you better not waste any! **Pre Covid19 Review** I was exploring the Guildford area and my dining companion and I noticed that, a few blocks away, located in an unassuming little strip mall was a restaurant that serves not only all you can eat Korean BBQ but also a buffet? Damn, that sounded too good to be true so we gave it a go. We went during the lunch period so it was 17.99 per person. To start, I got a selection of items from the BBQ meats fridge at the back of the restaurant. They've got onions, marinated beef, chicken, pork and pork shoulder. All of the meats are very tender and bathed in a slightly tangy marinade. I found that the marinade was tasty enough on its own that you don't need any of the other sauces. My favourite meat was the pork shoulder as it was thicker cut, exceptionally tender and so juicy! The main gripe I have with the BBQ meats is when other patrons drop the tongs into the meat and meat juice..like definitely not food safe for sure. There's also a decent salad bar at the back of the restaurant. My favourites were the spicy soft tofu, bean sprouts, jap chae, and kimchi. The seaweed salad was strangely sour though and the spinach salad was a bit on the saltier side. Potato salad was....potato salad lol. From the hot food selections, the stand-out items would have to be the fried chicken wings (which disappear as quickly as they come out), the sweet potatoes and the tteokbooki. The sweet and sour pork, cooked spicy chicken, bulgogi, and fish all taste a bit dry though from sitting so long in the steamer trays. Avoid the fish and the rice. There's also a soup station and a bibimbap station at the back, though it seems kind of like filler to me lol. There isn't really a dessert station, other than sliced oranges. Although there is an ice cream machine, it's for dinner time only so if you end up using it, you'll get dinged extra. Overall, BBQ meats and chicken wings are highlights. Lunch all you can eat for only $16.99-$18.99/person depending on which day you go, a super good deal. They have a buffet for you to get Korean-style side dishes such as spicy rice cakes, fried chicken, fried rice, fried noodle, lots to choose from! I would recommend going right when they open (11:30 am) because it is usually super busy and that's when the dishes are the most fresh. As for the Korean BBQ, you choose your meat from the buffet (kept in a cooler) - marinated beef, pork, chicken. However, they don't have pork belly during lunch so that was a little disappointing. The meat were alright, given the price you are paying for. Their safety protocols during covid is quite good, all tables/seats are separated, you have to wear a mask/gloves to go to the buffet area, but the one thing lacking is that, they only give you one pair of gloves (unless you request for more) so you have to reuse them everytime - pretty gross! This is a GOOD Value, Buffet-style Korean (Chinese) AYCE for $17.......if you are looking for fancier Table Service Korean (Japanese) AYCE, look elsewhere like Kyo $23. Both are lunch prices. Read different reviews for this restaurant and have to address some of the comments in taste and service. Then will address food selection and eating strategies for yielding the maximum satisfaction from this place. With a 90-minute lunch limit, plan ahead to get the most food. TASTE If you know how to assemble a complete Korean BBQ entre then you can succeed in getting a delicious meal out of this AYCE: Meat+Onions+Dipping Sauce+ Lettuce! SECRETE IS IN THE SAUCES The meat is "lightly marinated" so pick the ones in the bottom if you want more taste. Otherwise, use the: 1) delicious tangy dipping sauce with orange (located first thing next to the green leaves salad bar). It looks like soy sauce but taste nothing like it. Highly recommended if you want a decent Korean BBQ taste. 2) gochujiang, a red thick paste made of garlic and soybean paste, located by the wall next to kitchen entry, in a bucket next to al the bean sprouts. Pork Shoulder (looks like pork chops) -fat and tasty, the most versatile meat that will not get overcooked. -best grilled as whole piece then cut into small pieces -topped with gochujiang and wrapped in lettuce (See photo) Beef -lean cut and very thin -must unfold properly once placed onto the grille -cooks real fast on hottest part of grille and flip the meat. Do not overcook or it will be rough and chewy -best with light tangy sauce Chicken and pork slices - only good when browned on high heat. Sometimes the staff come over and lower the heat and the meat gets dried. SIDEDISHES There are two stations of Korean side dishes. There is a big salad bar with Chap Chae (delicious glass nodded) raw kimichi, kale, slaws, potato salad, watermelon, seeweed etc. You can assemble a decent setting. The other station is by the kitchen entry, made of typical Bibimbap toppings such as sprouts, carrots, radishes and this is where you get the gochujiang. I skip the big bowl of rice and use these veggies to supplement my side dish ensemble. ***Their kimchi is not fermented so it taste better (and easier to digest) if you cook it instead. My first visit I didn't know so I had stomach pains from eating the raw rough fiber. COOKED HOT FOOD Their hot food is mainly of Chinese style food. Nothing really worthy to fill your stomach with it except: fried chicken wings, spring rolls, beef bulgogi, and maybe some veggies. On both occasions I find their fried fish and fried pork to be not freshly tasting. The soup station offer a variety of seeweed, beef bone broth, pumpkin porridge (sweet）， along with rice for those inclined to stuff themselves with someone that is worth only a penny to a pound. SWEET ENDINGS There is no dessert offerings, BUT I still managed to pull together a nice little dessert plate. In the hot food section, you can find a sticky rice cake with red sauce over it. The Pumpkin Porridge is a thick starchy soup that I really enjoy in very small quantity. Then there is the watermelon pieces that is always sweet. The potatoes salad has generous amount of juicy swear apples in it. I walked away feeling quite content with this selection of sweet offering. SERVICE The "servers" function more like bus boys to whisk away emptied plates and to change the grills when they get all mucked up. Do not expect to have any conversations or nice greetings from them. They respond to our various requests to adjust the heat up and down, and kept our BBQ experience smooth. You do go up to the till to pay the bill, and you will be watched if you are wasting food or secretly stowing food away ($10 penalty if you leave food on your plates unfinished). Great policy. For the price, I really enjoy this AYCE. Compared to $50-$60 for dinner of 2 at regular middle of the road Korean restaurant, getting ourselves stuffed with 8 plates of food for $17 each is really a steal (we can eat 2-3times of what normal people can eat)......It is of good value, and if you have the skill set, you can get many plates of delicious Korean BBQ meats, side dishes and event desserts out of it. Fairly decent AYCE Korean BBQ place in Surreyland. Parking is available in the ghetto strip mall parking lot. Some of the spots are quite sketchy in terms of uneven pavement. There also aren't enough spots. Carpooling will make life easier. The inside looks quite modern with the stainless steel exhaust fans, but is a bit worn down. Staff were friendly. The food selection is surprisingly large. There are not 1, but 2 cooked food stations serving all kinds of goodies such as kimchi, stir fry, and japchae (glass noodles). The day I went, there were even 2 types of soup. The meat section is in a small refrigerator with a sliding lid. The selection isn't the greatest (beef, pork, hot dog wieners, chicken), but most importantly, there are piles and piles of it. This buffet system is definitely superior to the order forms many other places use. We had the grill fired up and cooking in no time. Lunch is a bit pricey at $14, but dinner is a more reasonable $21. $2 extra for weekends holidays. Kids below 10 eat at half price, and kids below 4 are free. Overall a pretty decent experience. Not sure if there is any competition in the area, but this will be my future go-to place whenever I feel like grilling and eating a cow or pig. read more

For dinner Monday-Thursday ($24.99/person - swipe all the way to look at their menu prices for different dates and ages). * Also they are only opened until 9pm not 10pm so make sure to go early as the minute it hits 9pm the lights, stations and fans are off (this includes a/c) which is super weird and not smart, but I guess its a good way to let customers know they are closed and that its time to leave! Personally due to this the experience was meh. But regardless the food is what counts. * Their marinated beef short ribs were 100% WORTH IT. I totally ate more than my value, and devoured a lot of short ribs. The beef was thick and juicy. The marination was perfection. I love how often they change the bbq plate so it never gets too burnt on the bbq plate. * The pork belly is good too! Perfect ratio of fat and meat! I really enjoyed this because it tasted so good! I have been coming to seoul grill house for years now, and it's always a satisfying and great experience. Alot of people come for the lunch deals, but honestly the dinner service is much better with alot more options and variety. Of course they have several different types of meat, from pork belly to beef and pork. I love the pork rib meat, it's super juicy and tender when grilled up. Make sure to pair it with their homemade kimchi and sauces, it's just super flavourful and tasty! But what's really underrated is their cooked food selection. Usually at kbbq places the cooked foods are an afterthought, but at this place they are actually really delicious as well. The sweet potatoes, fried chicken, and cold dishes are always really great. My mom and I love like doing AYCE here. It's close to home, has ample parking, and it's close to Guildford Mall, for post-shopping meal. They offer plenty enough home-style menu dishes and also have the raw pork/beef/chicken for grilling. They change their warm/cold side-dish menu from time to time. My favorite memu items, apart from the raw meat for grilling, would be their fried chicken wings, fried fish, fish cake salad, soups, and the egg souflé like side dish! Their fried dishes are not oily and flavorful! I love that they also have dessert in the menu - fresh fruits and ice cream! Although we're always full from the main dishes, there's always room for sweets and fruits to 'cleanse' the palate after! Service is good - they are attentive and quick to change the grill pan as needed. Water and tea are also provided by the pitcher so you dont have to wait for servers to refill your cup. I'm not very concerned of the ventilation. It may seem smoky/smelly from all the grilling, but I dont think it's that bad. Arriving around 8:00pm I was surprised to see the restaurant as busy as it was. I was even more surprised when I was seated at a table with a grill...looking around, ALL tables had grills. To clarify, I am pretty certain that every other Korean restaurant reserved these for groups of "more than one"... This restaurant is basically a buffet, and you can select many of the prepared foods just like a typical buffet...but why would you when you can grill your meats and veggies right there at your table. The meats are plentiful...chicken, pork, squid, pork ribs...some marinated, some not...I think that I went back three times, trying out all the different meats. And they were all good...but certainly we all have favorites...mine was the marinated pork. The grill is gas...pilotless and very simple to use. The trick is to use enough heat to cook the meats, but not so high that you smoke out the restaurant...okay, I'm guilty, the main lady rushed over and turned down my grill. There are many food items to enjoy, I however really didn't get past the meats...tomorrow I will try more items. When your meats are getting close to being done, then thats a good time for adding some sliced garlic or maybe some onion onto the grill. When ready to eat, the technique is quite simple...take a piece of lettuce or one of those green leafs, add your onion or garlic, take a "bite size" of meat and dip it into the brown bean paste, place it onto the leaf, wrap the leaf to hold everything and plop it into your mouth. The tastes are fantastic. Go give yourself a treat and enjoy some Korean BBQ. This is a family owned and operated small business...these are your friends and neighbors, give them your support. For me...this was the absolute best meal that Canada has given me all week...I'm going back tomorrow evening...yes, it is that good...!!! read more

Was quite disappointed about the food since there's been so many great reviews about this place. Meat was quite dry and under seasoned so we had to put in our own marinade to it (salt, pepper, soy). The sides however, were good. Loved the spicy Mac and cheese and their ice cream! Price was reasonable for a buffet place. Service was not the best, I was eating my ice cream and a server came up to me and said that we had 5 mins left to finish our food. Would I come back? Probably not. I would rather pay a decent amount of money for better quality and service. read more

(Migrating old reviews from my account on another review site to here) I've only recommended and then taken about 10 different people to this place, one of which had been already and confirmed how much she liked it. There's a lot of variety, given you're paying $11.99 per person on a weekday for lunch ($13.99 on weekends). You have raw meat that you grab onto a plate and then grill back at your own table. And then there's lots of cooked dishes, soups, salads, just so you can eat stuff while you're waiting for your meat. ALSO there is always spicy tuna sashimi balls!! I also like how it's self-serve since in a lot of Korean BBQ ayce places, you'd have to wait till an available server comes around to take your order, and then wait a good while before they actually bring you the food. If you've got friends who may not like meat, there's vegetarian friendly dishes. This time I went, I saw kale + tofu salad for the first time. They also have a salad section, spicy tofu, udon salad, kimchi. Usually I've had oranges for the "dessert" bit of lunch (they have ice cream during dinner, but not for lunch), but this time we had super sweet, delicous watermelon! The first time we came here, we were rather impressed. Lots of food selections. What better way to sample a bunch of Korean food all for one price? We were around the area again today so we, of course, had to drop by. I don't think we will come back ever again. Everything we tasted was WAY TOO SALTY. It was like the cooks had a bad day and overpoured salt/sauce/spices in everything!?!? As a Korean food lover, I have had too many Korean meals and I know that the cuisine can be a little strong, which I'm totally fine with. Today's lunch was not strong. It was TOO SALTY that we had an extremely difficult time consuming our food. I was supposed to try their food here a year ago but they said that they were almost closing? I'm not sure if I got the open hours right but told us that they're closing. We came around 6pm. How odd. Anyway, I came back again last week with 3 other people at 5:05pm and let us in. Got a seat and got our food. Food itself is healthier than most AYCE but I noticed that there were quite a few errors on their dish tags. The Mac and Cheese didn't mention that it's spicy. I had some and it was super spicy! Too spicy for me I gave it to my sister to eat the rest. Also, the dish that was marked "glazed sweet potato" was not sweet potato. It was glazed russet potatoes. None of the servers were happy to be here. They didn't look like they didn't liked their jobs at all. One woman walked around a lot without checking for empty plates or serve more water. We had to flag her down to get rid of our empty plates. She looked confused, too, but that's what she was here for. It has been a long time that I haven't had korean bbq! One of my friends told me about this place because of the AYCE. I went here for lunch on weekend ($16.99/person). You can pick whatever you want, but make sure there's no leftover or else they will charge you $10. My favourite was the deep fried chicken and their seewed soup. As for the meat, they have beef, pork, chicken, sausages. There's no pork belly :( -- I heard its only for dinner. Service was actually good, because they keep changing the grill. However, it's so hard to ask them for water. and one of the server keep telling me "don't put the fire on high position because your grill will be burnt easily." -- at first I was put at high because it took long time to make the meat has the "burnt" side. but even when I put at low, the grill still burnt. just thinking they should just buy better quality of the grill so they don't need to change it every 20min lol. read more

Good, not great. We came here a few times and have noticed a trend that the food isn't the same every time. When it's good, it's amazing, but when it isn't, it's an awful experience. What I mean by that is that it really depends at what time you go here; sometimes the food will be fresh and delicious while other times it will be cold and hard. Of course this kind of disparity is unwanted. The service is great especially considering that this is a buffet place and not a real restaurant. Food replenishment is fast and timely.
