Whiskey Sour, Old Fashion
James J.

This place never lets us down. The service is always on point. Every visit, we sit at the bar--or on the patio if the weather is good. This time, we had the pleasure of being taken care of by Sydney, who handled both our cocktails and food orders. She was fantastic--attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. If I can help it, I'll definitely be sitting with her every time we visit. To start, I had an Old Fashioned, and my wife ordered a Whiskey Sour. We shared the deviled eggs, Croquetas de Champiñones, Mejillones Catalán (mussels), and the Paella Mixto. The deviled eggs didn't quite deliver. They lacked seasoning and texture, and the yolk mixture could have used more attention, better mixing for a creamier consistency and more seasoning. That said, the egg whites themselves were cooked well. On the other hand, the Croquetas de Champiñones were excellent crispy, flavorful, and perfectly sized bites. I'd absolutely recommend them. The standouts of the meal were easily the mussels and the paella. The sauce from the mussels was so good I almost asked for more bread just to soak it up, but instead, I poured it over the paella. Best decision ever. The paella was packed with bold flavors and great textures and with the broth poured over the top !!!! Chefs kiss!

First of all, their location is top notch! What a view!!! You get to see all the people walking around, probably headed to dinner, or a drink, in front of one of the world's most beautifully lit park! And incidentally, the world's most talented and most beautiful mixologist also works there, Sydney!!! What an impressive young lady! She kept the conversation going, made us feel right at home and made some of the best cocktails! We had just had dinner so no food was consumed but let me tell you, the food being delivered to tables around us smelled soooooo good! Tapas menu and everything looked authentic!! Big score for Paso!

Octopus

Was very excited to see another new diner option in Paso - especially since the Spanish restaurant we tried to go to last time closed suddenly. We stopped by without a reservation at peak diner time on a Saturday evening, they were filled up inside but were able to take us outside on the small patio counter. It's pretty hot and new, so I'd definitely recommend making a reservation if you want to secure a spot. Sitting outside was still really nice since you have a view of the park and can people watch, but table space is a bit limited. We ordered a few different pintxos/tapas and a paella. We started with the Pan con tomate with paletta iberica, pulpo a la Gallega, Gambas Al Ajillo, and Croquettas. The shrimp (Gambas Al Ajillo) only came with 3 to an order, but we added a 4th one since it was two of us sharing. Everything was good, but the Pan con tomate with paletta iberica and shrimp were probably my favorite, the garlic oil that the shrimp was served in was just so flavorful. After the tapas we had the Paella Del Mar which came with shrimp, octopus, and mussels. I really liked the octopus in this dish. The paella was good, but I did enjoy the tapas more, and at $50 for the paella, I was hoping it would be really great. They're part of the LPC family, so I was a little weary at first due to our overhyped and slightly disappointing meal there, but with no expectations, S'Aranella did not and could not disappoint! As with most tapas spots in America, the food was pretty pricey, so you're gonna spend a pretty penny if you want to walk away full, but the food was really good. Will definitely come back here and revisit some of our favorites and try some new stuff too.

Sorry about my horrible photos, I wasn't planning on posting them lol. Everything we had was incredible, including the service. Next time I'm in CA I'll be sure to stop in again!

Potatoes brava

It's probably closer to a four than a three really. Cool aesthetic for downtown Paso. The menu though is a little challenging if you have kids in tow. The potatoes brave were cooked really well but needed salt, which is a reoccurring theme. Also, the sauces were smothered on there and didn't have a lot of flavor despite their bright color. And they were cold. A couple of our potatoes were so overcooked they were black and charcoaly. The flatbread was really good except that the sauce was cold and I really wanted it to be warm. The meat was nice and the bread was beautiful. The mushrooms were not very good. The garlic in there was burned so it gave it a really astringent type flavor. We got the Wagyu skirt steak. Everybody was happy with that. I believe the sauce was a chimichurri type sauce on the side and it was OK. I liked the grill leak with it. The Jamon croquettes were beautiful. They were perfectly crispy on the outside and steaming hot. The inside was boozy and delicious. It was the only thing we ate that did not need salt and we ended up ordering two orders because my son loved them so much. Not pictured we also got the shrimp. Shrimp had good flavor and you got three of them for like $18. I thought they could have been cooked a smidgen more but overall fine. Glad we stepped outside of our box, but I thought for the price the food didn't really step up in the quality I was hoping for and everything lacked a bit of seasoning

Right off the square in Paso Robles, S'Aranella feels like the kind of place you wander into once and then quietly decide it's going to become part of your routine. Spanish tapas anchor the menu, but the atmosphere leans more toward relaxed wine-country café than formal dining room. It's contemporary, welcoming, and comfortable in a way that encourages you to stay a little longer than planned. The room strikes a thoughtful balance between upbeat and easygoing. It's a great spot for friends catching up, small meetings that turn social, casual gatherings, or celebrations that don't need fuss to feel special. Conversations flow easily, the pace never feels rushed, and the space carries that rare sense of being lively without feeling loud. It already feels like a local favorite rather than a brand-new arrival. Drinks set the tone right away. The old fashioned was clean, balanced, and confidently made--no distractions, just good structure and depth. The Spanish wine list is clearly curated with care. These are not run-of-the-mill selections; they show nuance, texture, and real personality. The food reflects the same philosophy: simple ingredients, handled with intention. The red peppers stuffed with goat cheese were a standout for their restraint. Fresh peppers, silky olive oil, and a firm, beautifully integrated goat cheese that held together rather than crumbling. Nothing flashy, just clean flavors and excellent balance--the kind of dish that quietly wins you over. The mushroom croquettes followed with comfort and finesse. Four crisp, golden bites filled with finely chopped mushrooms and herbs, tender inside and lightly crisp outside. Paired with a Spanish-style cream, they were rich without heaviness and disappeared quickly, which is always a good sign. One of the most enjoyable dishes was the tomato preparation served with toasted bread broken into small, shareable pieces. The tomatoes were bright and juicy, simply seasoned, and meant to be scooped rather than plated formally. It encouraged interaction at the table--passing, sharing, tasting together--and fit perfectly with the tapas spirit of the restaurant. The potatoes were another highlight. Small, skin-on, lightly smashed and roasted until tender with just the right bite. Finished with aioli, they felt hearty but never heavy, seasoned at the right moment and cooked with care. Comforting, well-executed, and surprisingly satisfying. What truly elevates S'Aranella, though, is the service culture. Sitting near the bar and service station turned into part of the experience. Sydney, our bartender, was friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to talk with, and other members of the team joined conversations naturally--even when they weren't directly serving us. They shared stories about what they enjoy cooking, why they like working there, and how the restaurant fits into the larger Paso Robles community. There was genuine pride in the way they spoke about the space, the ownership, and their coworkers. That openness created a sense of connection that's hard to fake. You don't feel like a customer passing through--you feel welcomed into something that's being built with care. S'Aranella feels less like a restaurant you try once and more like the beginning of a relationship. Thoughtful food, warm service, and an atmosphere that invites conversation and return visits. Spanish tapas done with heart, confidence, and a clear sense of place--right where Paso Robles gathers.

Carxofa - amazing fried Artichokes

This place was amazing. I am so glad I took the chance on this place, as there weren't a ton of reviews yet, but I highly recommend it. I am pretty stringent with my five star reviews, but this place definitely earned it. Everything from the drinks to the food was perfect. Everything was insanely seasoned and flavorful, I only wished I could have consumed more of both. If you love a Spanish tapas restaurant with great service and amazing bartenders, do yourself a favor and make a reservation and check this place out. Will absolutely return.

Papas Bravas
MiniTess D.

Came to celebrate a special occasion with excitement to try the only known Spanish restaurant on the Central Coast. First of all, it was a Saturday night and the place was full on a hot spring day. It was by far the noisiest place I've been in especially with glass doors shut for ac I guess. As it turned darker, the doors were opened and the noise level improved. Now for the foods: We ordered the bone in rib eye, proudly boasted as the house specialty at $4 per oz. Our portion came at $96 (24 oz), pretty pricey so better be something right? Well, it was a disappointment - some parts were tough, chewy and fatty - the gravy sauce and mushrooms were good. The charred Ceasar came with two Spanish anchovies - was ok, interesting taste but not noteworthy. The Lamb stuffed peppers were also ok, nothing special - the ground lamb tasted dry. We also had Papas bravas, commonly called Patatas bravas, one of my fave tapas. I had tasted the best in Barcelona. Well, their papas were basically fried skin on baby potatoes slightly smothered with lioli on top that didn't resemble nor taste like authentic brava sauce which is primarily made with paprika. Their sauce was nothing special but a simple, very common alioli, mayonnaise and ketchup combined. It came pretty dry that I had to ask for extra "brava" sauce - mayo and ketchup - charged me additional $2, really?! Having known a real good Spanish restaurant in San Francisco as well as having been to Spain, I can't say that this place is good enough nor recommendable for authentic Spanish cuisine. That night would be our first and last visit. The service was ok but seems like the regulars get more attention than the "newbies." Last but not least, dessert - their crema catalana, aka creme brulee, supposedly infused with orange was bland with not even a hint of orange or citrus taste to it. The whole experience was truly disappointing :(

Hamachi collar

We really wanted to like this place but gosh everything we ordered was salty! Many people recommended this place and we left disappointed. We ordered the rabbit chorizo, that was mushy and salty. The grilled caesar salad couldn't been better either the black dressing that was on as it was very salty. Then the hamachi collar and squid ink paella arrived we were excited to try it, only to be disappointed in how salty the patella was. The sauce in the hamachi was too overwhelming and salty we couldn't get passed the first bite. We left hungry and disappointed and our server saw and acknowledged our disappointment so kudos for Patrick for trying to compensate for us.

All I can say is Wow!! Love the vibe, great service and the food was spectacular. I also love the presentation of all of the tapas plates. Also, the wine recommendation worked for all of the plates. My cosmopolitan was excellent!! We ordered so many items on the menu, and there was not one item that we didn't enjoy. We left full & satisfied. I'm would highly recommend this new restaurant

Seafood Paella $58

Kind of disappointed in the food taste here. For those of you not in the know, this same location used to house another tapas/Spanish restaurant that also wasn't great. After realizing that S'Aranella took over the other Spanish place, I thought that this time around will be a different experience due to all of the great reviews on Yelp. But sadly, it's still the same overly salted dishes and not great that great in taste overall. First, I had reservations and was sat immediately after checking in. Funny enough, this is the same table we sat at in 2024 under the older restaurant. I thought it was strange, but thought to myself, this can't be foreshadowing with what's about to come. Afer being seated, we waited a good 10-15 minutes before our server even came by to introduce herself to us. While waiting, we were served water, but the server overshot our glasses and spilled some water on the table and on my napkin. She didn't apologize or even offered to wipe it up. When our server finally came by to take our drink and food order, I asked for her to wipe it down and she promptly did. But this should have been addressed by the first server that spilled the water. We ordered the beef hearts, deep fried artichoke & Iberico de Belota to start. The seafood paella was our main dish. The hearts came out first and it's only 1 skewer that was pretty small. But that's not an issue if it was actually good. Sadly it was overcooked and definitely had an organ taste to it. Normally beef heats are usually cooked over charcoal and not dry with an organ taste to it. I would not recommend this dish. The fried artichoke was better and I liked the batter used to fry these up. It was crispy and the artichoke tasted like it was pickled. I thought it was pretty decent, though it would have been better with more sauce to dip it with. The Iberico was salty and was sliced too thick. I like it to melt in my mouth when consuming it like how I had it back in Spain. I understand that the Spanish probably keep the best Iberico for themselves. But the person that was slicing these a little too thick and it tasted like they basically gave us all of the scrap slices as it wasn't evenly slicked. I also didn't taste the sweetness that this cured piece of meat should taste like. The seafood paella finally came out and I thought that they definitely skimped out on the rice. It wasn't a big dish to start out with and could have used more rice for sure. We did find this dish to be a little bit on the salty side, though the prawns and mussels were cooked to the correct texture. I just wished it wasn't so salty though. Overall, this place is no different from its predesessor. I was hoping that this place would be different according to the positive reviews, but sadly, I probably wouldn't recommend this place when there are better restaurants in the area. Now, if you are gung-ho on having Spanish food/tapas, then I would not be able to sway you. Just keep in mind that the food here is salt forward.

I was so excited to try this new establishment from the same chef as LPC and it didn't disappoint. The paella was crazy good. The stuffed peppers were just ok. The drink options are amazing!! The restaurant vibes aren't anything special but sitting at the bar was very fun and we had great service.

Paella

Absolutely delicious dinner last night at S'Aranella. As a long time fan and frequent visitor to Les Petites Canailles, I was thrilled to hear they were opening a new Spanish themed restaurant in the old La Cosecha space. We shared the pan con tomate , mussels, croquettes and paella. It was the perfect amount of food for two. The tomato toast, mussel sauce and paella were amazing. I usually get bomba rice with paella but our choice of doing the pasta instead was superb. I was also pleased to see that they have a full bar as well as great wine list. Service did not disappoint and I thought the prices were reasonable. The ambiance very welcoming and unpretentious. This is exactly the restaurant this space needed. We're already planning our next visit.

We snuck in without a reservation, and got seated immediately. A quick look at the menu indicated that this place was full Spanish as far as food. It took us a few minutes and we elected to go with the Chicken and Chorizo Paella, and an order of the Empanadas. The Empanadas come in a flight of 4, so it was two per person. They were quite tasty, and came with a small dish of a creamed hot sauce, which worked great with the empanadas. The Paella came out - it was a 30 minute cook time. The spices and the chicken and chorizo worked so well together. We had to find a wine that would work with this, and we went with a Derby Tempranillo. It was light enough to work, and cut the grease in the dish like a laser. We finished up with a Limoncello Tort, which was tasty. Ambiance is kind of mondernesque, with interesting power and gridwork overhead, and some sound deadening panels on the walls. There is a lot of art, so take some time to look around and appreciate it.

The mushroom empanadas were just amazing, the dough was crisp and buttery, the mushroom mix was so very delicious and the sauce they gave was such a perfect complement to the dish. The patatas bravas was my favorite to be honest... it's such a simple dish but it's just so good. The sauces and crispy textures of the potato were just delicious. In fact in the patio dining area I saw three plates of food (including our peppers) delivered to tables in the hour we had been sitting there. Interestingly the wait staff all seemed very busy and moved around the restaurant but not much appeared to get done. Having worked in hospitality previously I have a lot of empathy for the staff as they seemed to lack direction and management support. My husband ordered the mushroom and scallop pasta. It was okay. Overpriced, but was tasty. I ordered the chile relleno and steak. The chile relleno was filled with a large amount of corn that tasted freezer burnt. My steak was thin and grey and overcooked. It was nearly all grey inside with a couple spots of pink. It wasn't seasoned either. The sauces on the plate were good. Our server was polite and did take it off the menu. However, no manager ever came by to check on us or any other table on the patio in the time we were there. I had high hopes for this place based on the reviews. It was a real let down to have a lackluster food and service experience at "one of the nicest places" in Paso.

The waitress, Erma, was friendly, polite, and attentive--which, let's be honest, isn't always easy to find. The restaurant is clean, has plenty of seating, and judging by the steady flow of customers, it's definitely no secret anymore! Give it a try and see for yourself--I'm pretty sure you'll love it too.
