Ya know, I just really had a hankering for some tempura so I came by and picked up some kakiage, eggplant tempura, and kaarage to munch on. Super quick and easy to satiate my craving hehe

Sanuki Udon gets a solid 4 stars from me. The udon noodles themselves were amazing: super fresh, chewy, and clearly handmade. The portions were also really filling and the atmosphere felt very authentic and cozy. The only reason it's not a full 5 stars for me is because some of the flavors were slightly bland and could've used a bit more seasoning or richness. Overall though, still a really enjoyable spot and definitely worth trying if you love fresh udon!

We had good simple meal udon here they make it fresh! Chewy and delish. I had tonkatsu broth and asked for spicy and it delivered! Good chashu pork and nori melted well into the soup, tempura were self served but freshly fried and crab meat one was reallly good, the japanese yam was oily for me. Good egg and table self seats. Take your own chopsticks and pack away station. I liked the sweet fried tofu! Big piece and you can add others toppings with your choice from menu.

This place was a cute, new discovery. The concept was similar but different. You choose your dish that you want and it's prepared for you and then you add additional sides that you want to have with your food. The food is cooked in front of you quickly and served quickly as well. I would say for the price of about $15-$20 it's not so bad. Definitely one of those " could be worse, could be better " situations. I would go back and try another dish there and recommend it for trying out while in the area.

I came when they first opened, and this time I was shocked to see some bowls, like pork cutlet curry and beef udon, are now actually $1 cheaper...like who does that nowadays?! Plus, they offer free unlimited oolong tea! Huge bang for your buck and perfect for students. What really surprised me was they actually make udon with Japanese-imported wheat flour! *Beef Udon $14.50 A hot bowl of soup udon hit so hard on a chilly, rainy day. The rich and savory broth felt like a warm hug. The beef slices were tender and not overly fatty, and the udon noodles were super springy and chewy which is clearly different from the cheap frozen one. *Pork Cutlet Curry Udon $15.95 If you're craving something more filling, the curry udon comes with slices of katsu pork cutlet. There was definitely more fried batter than actual pork, but it was still tasty and paired really well with the curry. *Tempura - Mochi $2.25, Zucchini with Cheese $1.85, Japanese Yam $1.85, Eggplant $1.85 Most of their tempura ranges from $1.85 to $2.95 (with the soft-boiled egg on the higher end). The veggie ones were nothing special, but the mochi tempura was surprisingly good. I thought it'd be stale and hard after sitting on the counter for a while, but it was the opposite--the mochi inside was still super stretchy and soft, with a nice seaweed flavor from the crispy batter.

It's very much an average experience, the food is good and convenient at a affordable price point. There are many udon and rice options and the ability to customize your meal as there is a variety of tempura. Service is fast and you go through the line to order. There is a good amount of seating and is self serve. The pork udon is good, it comes with a large portion of noodles and the pork is like a thick pork belly that is tender.

My partner was craving this when reminiscing on time spent in Japan, so we came to see how it compared. I love the cafeteria style, and I love getting to pick and choose my tempura sides. I got the curry udon, which was delicious, with shrimp and zucchini tempura. You can watch in a room to the side how they make their noodles in house, which is very cool. Each bowl is created for you, right in front of you, with homemade noodles! I had wished the lighting was a little softer to give it a home-ier feel (with comfort fried foods and soup, you get the vibe), but it is cafeteria style so I guess it makes sense why it isn't. I can imagine this is a common spot for NYU students, but I hope to go back often myself!

Came for lunch and there was a line already right after it opened. It is close to NYU so I think it does get busy from the students going to lunch. I chose the pork udon and there is option to add additional items such as egg, etc. There is also various tempura items such as shrimp, mushroom, crab, etc. When you are done choosing, you move to pay. There is a toppings bar if you want to add additional garnish like scallion, tempura flakes, etc. Tea and water is also free. The pork udon is actually a good size. I like how the pork was cooked without it being overly chewy with bits of fat. The crab tempura had a lot of meat, juicy. Filling with a bowl of udon alone. Staff is nice and keeps things moving. There is decent amount of seating. Recommend for those cold days when you need something warm or when your craving udon & tempura.

Got the curry and was very dissapointed. Curry was watered down af. Marugame would never. But i liked their tempura. The tempura mochi was interesting and delicious. The chew was yummy. The service is a quick grab a try and go down the line type of service. Very chill vibes and lots of seating. Mostly self serve experience after you get through the line and lots of NYU students as it borders the campus. Would recommend to try as we dont ha e Marugame in NYC and the experience and food is close/similar.

I love how it's a place of order, pay and sit anywhere type of establishment. My favorite is the beef udon noodle soup with shrimp tempera on the side. The batter is so light and crispy, I always get this side no matter what. They open at 11:30am and it gets crowded quick but also the turnaround for a seat is fast. The tables can be a bit too close together so getting to the seat by the window you gotta squeeze in without trying to hit someone's food next to you or you can sit at the high bar facing the window which I love. They have 2 unisex bathrooms available but you need a code to open it so ask the cashier. They have take out containers readily available for you to grab on your own if you don't finish your meal.

This spot is soooo clutch. Came across this when I was on Google maps in the area looking for udon spots. Happened to find this spot by the nyu campus area! Super unique ordering experience where you order your udon but hand pick your own tempura sides (extra cost). They make the udon noodles fresh in front of you which I thought was pretty cool. The noodles were the perfect texture & the broth was super flavorful. The best part about it is that it doesn't break your wallet! Almost every udon dish is under $20 unless you add tempura sides of course. Plenty of seating area and a great place to stop by for lunch!

So yummy I enjoyed the noodles sm this soup could heal sickness for thousands If I went again I'd get a cheaper udon with more tempura

Fast service and ample seating. I can see this spot doing very well with NYU being located close by. The udon noodles were good texture but the broth is on the saltier side. The tempura selection had great variety and definitely fills you up if you're not satisfied with the bowl of noodles. Overall great spot for your buck if you're craving udon!

The beef soup is clear and light and the noodles have a delightful texture, with a slight chew and good bounce. There's a good portion of braised beef as well. Tender but a bit fatty for my taste, but given the portion it's not going to kill you. Lamb burger ended up as overkill and will be consumed as leftovers but a quick sampling let me know that it's gamey and fatty with strong notes of cumin. Not a bad thing, but something to note for people that might not generally enjoy lamb or cumin. Black pepper beef rice bowl was solid too. Spice wise, you can calibrate accordingly but I'd recommended at least their regular spice level. Decent amount of tenderized but still chewy beef. Both dishes came with a salad of celery, carrot, cucumber, peanuts and seaweed strips in a light sauce. Couldn't quite figure out the sauce but it was lightly tart and refreshing. Space is clean and modern. Neutral wood, well lit. Service is friendly enough. If you dine in, you order at the kiosk and they'll deliver to your table. We had leftovers that they graciously packed up. Solid choice. I hope they stick around as they do bring a different cuisine to the area.

The Ahi Tuna was the perfect and proper color it should be. The flavors were SPECTACULAR-WONDERFUL!!! NOTE: WAGAMAMA has added to their menu, since my last visit, so you now have a RAMEN SELECTION, and other yummy additions. I was too full from my spectacular Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl to try the Korean bbq Chicken Wings ($8.95) but, I will definitely be back to try them!! I'll post menu photos so you have an idea of the delicious food choices. (April 2026) My very first delicious bite of Ahi Tuna had a heavenly garlic flavor, it was wonderful, and the sweet green seaweed with rice only added to the wonderfulness. Vertical slices of cucumber, onion and scallion, also add deliciously to my wonderful Poke Bowl. Toasted sesame seeds, too. SIMPLY MARVELOUS!!! Remember to be sure to mix the poke bowl rice as you eat, so that you mix the rice with the yummy sauce that may accumulate at the bottom of the poke bowl. I usually eat a little while, THEN, mix the rice. This was so good, I had to eat, eat, eat, before I could stop to mix. LOL. That sweet green seaweed was so yummy!! A lovely mix of flavors...the garlic, the sweetness....I LOVED IT ALL SO MUCH!!!! When was the last time you enjoyed a dish so very much that you felt like standing up in the restaurant and telling everyone: THIS IS SOOO DELICIOUS!!!! Well, I felt like that, but I didn't stand up and tell everyone, but I did tell the manager, who happen to come to the table to ask how everything was. And I let him know how much I was enjoying the Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl. He explained why and how the tuna was so flavorful. We had a delightful brief foodie chat. What a joy!! The service is very nice here. I like the atmosphere too. And the music, which is cool; it does not interfere with thinking, or having a conversation. I really like it here . The women's rest room was very nice, and clean, with a Dyson Hand Dryer, so no paper towels on the floor. Yay! Helping our environment, too!! And I like the black and white wall paper, too. See my photos My last visit I enjoyed the Pad Thai, and the same non-alcoholic beverage, " Asian Mint Limeade", from the MINDFUL DRINKS area on the beverage menu. ($9.50) (April 2026). A nice treat! It does have a light carbonation (bubbles). This visit my delicious meal was from the BOWLS SECTION of the food menu, it was the AHI TUNA POKE BOWL ($17.95) (April 2026) With warm, and hot weather on the way, I know I will be enjoying this AHI TUNA POKE BOWL again...and again! If you love good food, good service, and a very cool environment, put this location of WAGAMAMA on your list ! (East side) LOCATED On THIRD AVE, at East 39th Street. There is OUTDOOR SEATING, too, with red umbrellas. See my photos. Enjoy yourself here. Totally delightful. There are several locations in Manhattan. I did not know that. So, the one I have dined at is ON THIRD AVENUE, at EAST 39th Street. Look for the Red Umbrellas outside, at the corner of East 39th Street and Third Avenue. Enjoy!!!

There is also bar seating. It's a bit tricky figuring out what to do with your coats since the chairs aren't really meant to hang winter coats on, but there is a clothing rack in the back that someone can help you with. Everything is ordered via your phone using Toast Tab which was convenient since you didn't have to wait for your server. There was also happy hour when we arrived (6:15pm) so we ordered two hand rolls ($5 each). We ordered the chirashi bowl and the shoyu ramen. I thought the portion sizes were good and I loved the texture of the noodles in the ramen as well as my selection of fish. For dessert, we ordered the hojicha pudding which was delicious as well.

We were guided toward the back, past white marble tables with beautiful mustard colored velvet chairs to the long countertop facing the open kitchen. We scanned QR codes to pull up the menu, and despite no omakase noodle offerings to be found, decided to stay because the menu options they did have sounded too good to pass up. Of course they had classic shio and miso ramens, but they also had a duck tsukumen, a red snapper ramen, a black truffle ramen, and the dish I set my sights on-- the uni mazemen. There were also lots of appetizers and a long list of high end onigiri featuring proteins like scallop lemon shio, A5 wagyu ponzu, and bluefin chutoro on offer. This place was the real deal. Our group shared the tebasaki wings-- so crispy and so flavorful, I could have inhaled a whole plate of these. The salmon, ikura, and apple appetizer that was served in a glass chalice was superb but even better was the bluefin tuna avocado sashimi with wasabi. That one was a winner across the board. And then my uni mazemen, which really stole the show. There was a very generous portion of uni that mixed with the savory sauce and al dente ramen noodles perfectly. This dish was rich, unctuous, and fresh and definitely delivered in value, though it was double the price of most other noodle bowls. Uni is a delicacy. Having just returned from a second trip to Japan I can say this place is really as good as any restaurant I visited in Japan, and it's right here in Murray Hill. These Murray Hill bros are lucky.

The hostess and our various waiters (they all seem to assist all diners) were all very friendly and welcoming. We love to try new things so we had to check out the Little Alley Pig Ear appetizer, and I also wanted to try the Shanghai Crispy Eel. For entrees the husband ordered the Eight Delicacies in Chili Sauce and I got the Soft Shell Crab with Rice Cake. Pro tip- their appetizers and entrees are hefty, with two apps and two entrees we were stuffed at the end. The food! The pigs ears were our favorite thing we tried- they well seasoned and so unique I've never had anything quite like it. We didn't read the menu carefully and were surprised it was a cold dish- I imagined the crispy was from being fried but it's just the texture of the cartilage! It's probably not for everyone but I really enjoyed the new experience and the flavor and spice were great. The crispy eels were also tasty, though with such a large portion split between just two people I found the sweetness of the sauce a bit much. I started dipping them in the chili oil from the ears and enjoyed that, but I'd still only get the eel again with more than 2 people to split it. For entrees the 8 delicacies was tasty, all the meat was nicely cooked and tender, and the sauce was pleasant. I wasn't super wowed by this dish compared to some of the more interesting things we tried but it was a solid well-cooked entree. The fried soft shell crab over the rice cakes was delicious and again a very unique experience. I found the sauce a tad sweet but I think I was still a little over the eel dish so I may have been extra sensitive. That being said, it was fun and delicious and I'd eat it again! I can't remember the cocktails we bought, I know they were good but the food definitely distracted us! Little Alley was great overall and I'd love to go back to try some dumplings; sadly we were just too full at the end of the meal!
