Mixed Grill Plate

We LOVE this place!!! We work around the corner and are so happy we found this. My business partner and I were there for lunch today and Meik was so awesome! His customer service was incredible, and his excitement about the food they make. We had the mixed grill to share and the meat was so delicious and juicy, he offered us a taste of falafel and it was AMAZING. We also had the tzatziki that was perfect. Eating there was clean and fun because we were able to talk to the staff- it was a lovely experience. If you're in the neighborhood I highly recommend

This place is amazing! The food is cooked to perfection. The chicken is juicy, ingredients are super fresh and tasty. The pita bread is so soft and the hummus is so good. Everything is soooo good, trust me! 10/10 would recommend. The service is excellent every time. Portions are very generous. I cannot express this enough, go try Santee Falafel today! You'll love it and you're welcome!

Quick service, fresh food, and friendly staff! My order came out hot and exactly as I asked. The place was clean and everything was ready in just a few minutes. Great spot if you want a beef plate or falafel sandwich --I'll definitely be coming

Why overpay at places like Raffi's Place, where the food feels overpriced without showing where the extra money went? Here, you can actually see the quality, creativity, and presentation that justify the price, and the packed dining room proves it. The only downside was that the waitress pushed an appetizer on us twice when we really didn't need it. Two entrées are more than enough to fill you up. Also, because the restaurant stays so busy, don't expect much small talk with the staff. It's very efficient and businesslike, but your food arrives quickly and on time.

Our server pushed for us to order another app/entree even after I told them that we were happy with the amount we ordered. Afterwards, when it was time to pay the bill they "accidentally" added a $315 bottle of wine on our bill which we did not order. This definitely impacted our overall experience negatively.

The restaurant has a really homey feeling inside, with about four small tables that make it feel cozy and welcoming. It's the kind of place where you immediately feel comfortable. My partner and I ordered the chicken shish kebabs with mejadra rice, salad, and sumac fries. Everything was delicious! The plate also came with hummus and pita, which were incredibly fresh and flavorful. The hummus was smooth, rich, and perfect with the warm pita. Hermon helped recommend our food, cooked it, and even served us. She was so kind and made the whole experience feel really personal. She also offered us complimentary baklava, which was amazing. It had the most soft, chewy texture with just enough sweetness. When I asked her what the secret ingredient was, she just smiled and said she couldn't spoil it so you'll have to try it for yourself! Definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area.

Open until 4am, their food was always fresh, clean, the staff were polite and professional, and the price was about the best deal you'd find downtown. A good, honest restaurant and business, which is rare in LA these days. I walked down there tonight and can confirm that the place is closed and the inside is being cleared out. Not sure why, but since there have been other locations around the LA area over the past several years, maybe they're just moving again. I wish them all the best! To Anwar and staff, thank you for the delicious and healthy food over the years, and for running a tight ship. I hope I see that Wolverine mural pop up somewhere else, soon!

I keep coming back to Anwar's Kitchen for one simple reason: the food is consistently good. Not…read more"pretty good for takeout," not "good on a lucky day," just genuinely solid every single time. This time, I went with the Anwar Style Chicken Shawarma to try something new. The portion size alone is impressive. The container is packed and feels substantial the moment you pick it up. The base is a bed of fries, and these are not just filler. They are thick, well seasoned, and sturdy enough to handle all the toppings without turning into a soggy mess. On top of the fries is a generous amount of chicken. The chicken tastes freshly cooked, with that warm, savory flavor you expect from good shawarma, never dry and never overly salty. There are pita chips mixed in, which add a great crunch and texture against the fries and chicken. Multiple sauces are drizzled throughout the dish. I chose a side of their spicy sauce. The creamy white sauce balances things out, while the orange sauce brings a mild heat and a little extra depth. None of the sauces overpower the dish, they work together to coat everything evenly and keep every bite flavorful. Diced tomatoes and corn adds a touch of sweetness that surprisingly works really well here. A sprinkle of herbs throughout helps brighten everything up and keeps the dish from feeling too heavy, even though it is definitely filling. This is comfort food done right. It is messy in the best way, packed with flavor, at least to me it was. If you are looking for something hearty, satisfying, and consistently well made, I will always recommend Anwar's Kitchen. Anwar's Kitchen delivers quality food, and I will keep ordering from them.

We ordered the two-person combo, which was about $95 per person and included all the appetizers they recommended, plus two skewers each, with additional upcharges for certain protein choices like beef. Their arayes are a must -- it's basically like a lahmajun with two pieces pressed together, and it's insanely good. I usually go all in and order the tabbouleh, babaganoush, a pound of lula kebab, and shish kebab. Honestly, if you're with 2+ people (or even just really hungry), ordering by the pound with sides is way better value than getting individual plates. You get more variety and it just feels like the right way to eat here. Every now and then I'll switch it up and get the liver plate -- it comes with tons of greens and onions, and when you wrap everything in their fresh pita, it's incredible. Not an everyday order, but when you're in the mood for it, it hits. If you dine in, the indoor decor is super nice and really gives that authentic Mediterranean vibe. They also play a lot of 90s music, which somehow fits perfectly and adds to the whole experience. I've dined in plenty of times and the service is always solid -- staff is friendly and attentive. Just a heads up, food can take a little longer sometimes, but that's because they're always busy and everything is made fresh, so it's worth the wait. I've also done takeout here more times than I can count -- probably over 100 orders at this point -- which says everything. This is easily one of my go-to spots and I keep coming back for a reason.

From the moment we arrived, the vibe felt off. The host who seated us (who later turned out to also be a server) left us at the table, and no one approached us for about 10 minutes. When a server finally came over, the first thing she said was "Ready? Ready?", no greeting, no welcome, nothing. We were never brought water. I had to ask a busser for it because the server walked past our table multiple times, clearly saw us, and chose to ignore us. The food runner was also rude, he dropped the plates on the table without saying a single word. Throughout the entire meal, no one checked on us. No "How is everything?" No "Do you need anything?" Nothing at all. Meanwhile, we noticed that nearby tables were being greeted, checked on, and treated kindly. When we asked for the check, the server literally threw it on the table without saying a word. The experience was so bad that we decided not to leave a tip; Something we never do, especially since we truly value good service and I personally work in the restaurant industry. I don't know if the treatment had anything to do with how we looked or how we were dressed, but I've never felt so ignored and uncomfortable in a restaurant before. The food may be fine, but the service completely ruins the experience. I would not return or recommend this place.
