From the moment we arrived, everything felt clean, comfortable, and welcoming. We loved that parking was free (huge plus during a busy travel weekend!), and the room itself was surprisingly spacious -- perfect for a family who comes with plenty of bags and snacks. The beds were comfy, the space was quiet, and we all got a great night's rest. Breakfast the next morning was also complimentary and had a solid variety of options to get us fueled up before hitting the road again. Super convenient and stress-free. Overall, a smooth and pleasant stay. If you're passing through Tehachapi or need a reliable stop for a family trip, Fairfield Inn definitely delivers!

We had scoped out the Fairfield Inn last time we drove through in May, and decided it was worth a try. We made a reservation on the drive there, as the last time I called, they didn't properly put the reservation through. We were able to get a room with two queen sized beds for comfort, and it was the handicapped room, which is often available when nothing else is. We had been warned about the $50. parking fee, which is pretty bogus, since there is ample parking there. We checked in easily at the front desk, the staff were very friendly. I was having a mobility issue, so I had to sit whenever possible and the front lobby had comfortable chairs. The front lobby was clean and spacious, but the decor was subpar. It couldn't make up its mind between desert and modernism. The color scheme was kind of 80's orange wood, with yellowy chairs and coral accents. The other oddity was that the faux fire was never lit the entire time we were there. It would have added a note of warmth to the room. A major glitch was that the key to our room would not work. This was a handicapped room, located at the very end of a loooong hallway. I sat on the floor while the hotel maid let us in with her master key. We unloaded in a large clean room, and he returned downstairs for a new key, which also did not work. We decided to stay in the room until dinner, and try another key on the way back in. I had searched YELP for restaurants, but most of the ones I would be interested in were closed on Sundays, so we asked at the front desk. The very helpful staff suggested Don Perico's Restaurant, so off we went. There is a small refrigerator in the room, so we were able to save out dinner meal leftovers. When we returned, the key finally worked, and we settled down. We were on the second floor, and could hear a lot of noise on the third floor, with kids running around. The other caveat is that the TV selection is pretty limited, but I got their WiFi to work, and watched streaming shows. Again, the bathroom and room decor are very grey and institutional looking, more like a conference hotel than a vacation spot. I got up super early and went to the breakfast area, and it was the highlight of the stay. There were huge carafes of Starbuck's coffee as well as real cream, and Coffee mate Creamer. There was also a large selection of healthy breakfast choices like oatmeal with a bunch of toppings, packaged yogurt, and bagels. In hot chafing dishes with scrambled eggs and bacon, and packaged croissant breakfast sandwiches. I had a few cups of coffee ( I added chocolate chips to make it mocha) and yogurt, while my husband chowed down on the eggs, and bacon with added toast. The breakfast room is large, so many families were partaking of the breakfast. There is a sweet view of the mountains behind the hotel from the breakfast area. Checkout was fast and easy as we had prepaid (a necessity) and we were able to pullup the car right in front and we were on our way!!!

Check-in was nice & smooth, all the Staff was super friendly & helpful. I told them that I liked to photograph wildlife and they were kind enough to come knock on the door when some huge Bull Elk came in the area. Our Unit was clean, plenty of space, comfortable furniture, stocked with what we needed, and everything worked. We especially loved the Fireplace as it got cool on the rainy day. We loved the area, a nice park next door, within walking distance with a pond & a playground for kids. Small town (Stallion Springs) has a gas-station with a few eateries. Tehachapi is a bigger town (about 30 mins away). Make sure to stop at Visitor Center as it will give you plenty of ideas of things to do & where to eat. If you are looking for new & fancy with stuff like a pool or attached restaurants this is not the spot for you. If you want a great week of quiet & chances to see wildlife, enjoy a very relaxing area with plenty of friendly people then this is the place for you !!! Then told us its not her problem and for us to call on Monday and then hung up on us. Completely unprofessional. Will not be booking here ever again and will let all of our people know not to book here either.

Through the night there was a knocking similar to the sound of hot water going through cold pipes. The receptionists were polite. We specifically booked this hotel because they were letting us check out til 2pm. We had online meetings with clients scheduled til 2pm and here comes Yoli calling our room with a very unprofessional demeanor. Couldn't even comprehend the situation they had put us in. Telling us that she didnt even know we were in here was a total joke. What, did you think we just made our own room keys?? Im glad i booked it only for one night. It was great for the price but inconvenient because of management staff like Yoli, who is intellectually underwhelming. Would've paid $30 more somewhere else had we known we couldn't check out at 2pm. On top of the inconvenience, i have to mention that blankets were stained with old blood maybe? and a towel was also stained, i dont want to event think about. How they think its okay to put that in the room is beyond me. Though overall just keep in mind the type of people you will be dealing with if you book here. This is a classic "you get what you pay for". And a manager who isnt the sharpest tool in the shed.

After lane splitting for hours Diane waved us down and said she could check us into our room. We stayed in a room that overlooked our motorcycles so it was perfect. I wish I had taken photos of the room. It was decorated beautifully with photos taken by Diane as well as art on the walls by her sister. After showing us how to turn on shower, where extra amenities were we set out to explore. The town is a gem and everyone in it was so hospitable I can't wait to return. The room was perfect to come home too and enjoy a glass of wine in front of your own little fireplace. Yes you read that right. We enjoyed a fire before going to bed. It's a great place for a romantic getaway or a girls weekend. Highly recommend heading there.
