So this review is for the housing. Not the hotel rooms. Lets be clear on that first. The housing is ALWAYS extremely clean and well taken care of. I've never had a single issue with them. The garage is well lit and easily usable. The bathrooms are all clean. The bedrooms are all fresh linens and floor is vacuumed. Did the finger dust test on corners etc. I'd say 8 out of 10 no problem. Would I stay here again? yes. Like I said no issues with this place at all. They always treat me right every time I've been here. And I've been here at least 10+ times. Thanks guys! read more

Stayed here one night. The room was clean, though the comforter had a hole burned in it. There were 3 cars in the hotel lot when we arrived late evening. Before we even checked in, we were asked by one of those car owners, whose eyes were blood red, for a jump start. One star because at 7am we were woken up by yelling in the room next door. As the arguement spilled out onto the sidewalk, two males were chest to chest and looked like they were going to fight. Turned out that the OWNER/MANAGER of the hotel found out that our neighbor had been housing a cat. The owner initiated the arguement at 7am, demanding $20 for the undisclosed cat. Our neighbor, after about 45 minutes of arguing, dumped a shoe box of dirty cat litter in a trash can outside our window and departed the premises. The behavior of the owner and complete disregard for other guests was unacceptable - Consistent with a slum lord. The room was very cheap, but what's the point of a cheap room if you can't sleep because of the owner's temper? I almost threw $20 out my door to shut them both up. read more

I've been staying here quite a few years as I travel through the area a couple times a year. The couple that manages it are exceptional but, sadly, this trip I have noticed the room I stayed in needs a great deal of attention, needs to be cleaned better, needs new paint, new curtains (stained and dirty), new bedspreads (multiple burn holes) and the towels are badly stained. Etc. it was just grimy feeling. I'm hoping the sheets were fresh :-( I only give it three stars because I love the couple who run it. I do hope a refresh is in the NEAR future. Otherwise I need to choose other accommodations on my next trip through the area. read more

We read a few good reviews and booked an overnight. The pros: dog friendly; friendly owners; clean sheets. The cons: pretty dilapidated; our room smelled bad--like the pet friendly policy gone wrong. To be clear, we also travel with a pet, but don't let it pee in the room. There are many soft spots in the floor and walkways. The property is generally dirty and unkept. The rooms may be non-smoking, but your neighbors will sit right in front of the rooms and smoke. It just seems like the owners are doing the bare minimum to operate. read more

A dusty rose in a dusty town! A very simple, inexpensive, clean but dated motel in Mojave. The family who runs it is very welcoming and accommodating. Rooms: While older and worn, they were very clean, including crisp clean linens. Noticed they were updating a room while we were there, so a refresh may be occurring slowly but surely. As advertised, free HBO was included :-). The bathrooms had been scrubbed clean and the shower was HOT. WiFi is free and works great. Ample parking. Rooms have frigs as well. From the road you may be tempted move into another Mojave option. But based on their overall review we gave them a shot and were very pleasantly surprised. It's not like there is a Marriott class option. Considering that, this is the place. The owners joy and hospitality really put this over the top. Highly recommend! Remember, this is a simple no-frills motel, but it's clean, friendly with cold A/C! Tip: leave the door open when you first arrive to air it out. Remember, you are in the high desert, rooms can get a little funky if they've sat for a few days without occupancy. read more

I realize that it cost less than $60 to stay here for one night, which is a great price - so that's why I'll be lenient & give 3 stars instead of 2. This motel is a little old but relatively well maintained & relatively clean. The room was pretty small - we had to squeeze past the bed to get to the bathroom. I saw a centipede or something crawl into the shower drain, which grossed me out a little, but otherwise things looked clean enough. Free cable TV, free wifi, and a surprisingly large refrigerator are included in each room. Complimentary breakfast items were available in the little lobby area: milk, tea, coffee, some cereals, apples, bananas, and instant oatmeal. read more

Small cozy and inexpensive, exactly what I was looking for. It's not the Hilton but I'd rather give my money to small business owners. The couple that run the place are extremely nice. This is definitely my new resting spot when I come through Mojave. read more

It's very clean and the owners are very friendly. It doesn't suffer from a lot of the typical motel downsides: it's well lit, clean, has good water pressure and amenities like in room coffee, hair dryer, etc. Really a very nice motel. read more

Owner is super nice and price is right. But rooms are old. Not the type of hotel I'm used to staying at and was not trying to jump in the covers on these beds so I slept on top with my own blanket. The hotel worked perfectly for just a quick crash spot . Would not take my family here tho! Because of the nice owner and great price , I'm still giving it 3 stars ! read more

Let's be clear, this place will never be confused with the Bellagio. No pool, no 2nd floor. Each room (only 20 of them) has a microwave and fridge with freezer. I can actually put the ice bucket in the freezer, with room to spare. So it is bigger than the standard room fridge. High speed wifi running on a N router. So many places offer high speed and then skimp on the router, I honestly don't care how ugly the bedspread is or how dated the furnishings are because this isn't my house, but when I'm traveling and I need internet access...faster is better. Clean and friendly staff goes far with me. I really appreciate this place. read more

I wasn't too sure about having to stay in Mojave, CA. My supervisor, who was sending me to Mojave for training, had advised me that it wasn't necessarily the best area. She wanted me to book a room at the Mariah Inn but they were all booked AND didn't have nearly as many good of reviews as the Desert Inn. Based on the reviews and the fact that it cost half the price of the Mariah Inn, I decided to book at the Desert Inn. Andy at the front desk was extremely helpful! He told me to let him know if I had any issues and he would be sure to get them resolved for me and, knowing that I was a solo female traveller, he assured me that I would be safe there. The room was great and had all the things you would need while staying there - no wierd smells, clean room with a comfortable bed and ample pillows, desk, television, fridge (bigger than other fridges in most motels), hair dryer, table and chairs. The air conditioner worked well and the blinds did a good job keeping out the light from outside. As a side note, the unrelenting wind and trains going by are things that you have to deal with anywhere in Mojave. Luckily, based on the location of this motel, you almost don't even notice. I don't anticipate having to go back to Mojave any time soon but, if I do, I will absolutely book again at the Mojave Inn! read more

5 stars for the hard work. I am pretty nit picky and while I would rather wave favor to comfort over price, I would also select the vintage over new. While the place is super clean, and relatively comfortable, it is very quiet. I learned that when the owner purchased this property in its original state, fifteen years ago, he made the decision to allow that AAA status, who then required that remodeled the interior/exterior. The remodeling included redoing floors, paint, towel racks, give a tv and have bathroom remodels. I could tell the owner had put in some real hard cash with the remodel and then the daily hard work of servicing a hotel. From the outside it looks all "character" and from the inside it looks like a typical remuddled AAA motel room, but I am not removing any stars. This motel has a price point he want to stick with and thus cheap, he knows his clients. I would have only the following recommendations on his future remodel projects. Exterior - More street laden plants, maybe a few palms, more joshua tree, a lot more cactus. He has some currently and its very nice... Offer some outdoor seating somewhere. Retro restore his cool signage... maybe a little bit of old school neon. Interior - Minor..but as he replacing furniture, bring in some of those cool retro 50's seating/tables/ wall hangings.... Bed sheets, towels and beds are perfect. Bathrooms are perfect. The painted walls, and painted trim are all well done. read more

My husband and I chanced upon this place through a Yelp search, while driving home after dark between the Grand Canyon and San Francisco. Not only was it the perfect location for the halfway point, but it was what I call "cheap and cheerful." The manager (owner?) at the front desk helped me over the phone prior to arrival, and was polite and helpful when we arrived. Rooms are $55 for a queen, $60 for a king, or $65 for two queens. The room was a good size for the two of us, freshly painted, with good heat and water pressure, and is the only road motel I've seen that had an almost full sized refrigerator! We had free wifi, and watched The Hobbit on HBO as we fell asleep. Free, very basic continental breakfast in the morning. You can park your car right in front of your room, which we liked for security. There's a grocery store about a mile down the road, a liquor store and several places to eat nearby (Mexican, fast food, diner). Since we arrived at night, we were confused about the hundreds of blinking red lights that seemed to span for miles, as we drove into Mojave. We thought it might be the Air Force Base, but it seemed too random for that. We woke up to realize we were at the edge of the largest wind turbine farm in the world! Some cool views of this, if you are into such things. In a country of Super 8's, Rodeside Inns and Motel 6's, I'm glad that there are still non-chain, inexpensive places to stay with a little character. Would definitely stay here again on a road trip. read more

Cute little hidden gem. The staff was very welcoming and hospitable. We were on a road trip and needed an inexpensive place to sleep for the night. And boy am I happy we found this motel! I'm always skeptical of staying in motels because of the reputation of them not being clean. Well this is the exception! This place was super clean! I felt really comfortable walking bare feet! Which I rarely do, even in some 4 star places we've stayed. You will not be disappointed. Complimentary breakfast is served as well, which was a nice touch. They offered cold cereal, oatmeal, pastries, coffee and hot tea. Absolutely perfect. I want to thank the staff for making our stay wonderful. read more

Came here to spend one night before heading back to the Bay Area. It was just to shorten my long drive, and to give my youngest a short desert experience. Manager was very friendly. Gave me the WIFI password immediately. The room was clean and seemed very updated. Had a great night's sleep. Now, the iffy parts - which I will admit could be that I am technically challenged and not the motel's fault: DirectTV - could only get one channel (when I am presented with two remotes - I always screw things up); WIFI - looked at the beach ball of death on my MacBook for entirely too long, but daughter had a good connection; coffee pot - after 45 minutes of watching it struggle to make a pot of coffee, I went to McDonald's. If they serve any kind of food in the morning, it totally escaped me. I went to the office to score some food, and the door was locked, so either I missed it or maybe they don't have this service. I liked that there is an empty lot next door, was a great out of the way place to relieve my dog (and yes, I picked up after her). read more

This motel ROCKS! I try to stay at the most affordable motel possible and I always check reviews. This motel had some really good reviews, so I took the chance. I am delighted that I did. Upon check-in, the owner already had my registration form completed for me, along with my room key (yes, a real old fashion KEY) ready. He was very pleasant and welcoming. He made sure to let me know that my room would be cleaned at 10am unless I notified them for a later room cleaning. My room is awesome. Small, but obviously recently refurbished. New paint, ceramic tiles, new carpet. a HUGE refrigerator/freezer, microwave, free WiFi, and a flat screen TV mounted on the wall. There is a nice desk for my laptop. The nicest surprise for me was the towels. Normally the lower priced motels have thin, cheap towels. Mojave Desert Inn has very nice towels that are textured and a decent size. They offer a AAA and AARP discount. For the price, I'm more than happy. I did hear a train hooting by earlier, but that is an old fashioned pleasant sound to me. If I need to travel this way again, I am definitely booking my room here. read more

This hotel seems unassuming but was remarkably perfect for what we needed - a clean air-conditioned place to stay on the middle of our road trip. Decent Wi-Fi, great hot water in the shower, no insects, no mildew, safe parking lot. I wouldn't get your hopes up for the morning continental breakfast, however. Basic continental breakfast, I grabbed a pre-wrapped danish, an apple, and drank the Tang-like orange drink. It was fine with me since it was free. read more

Stayed two nights at this dog friendly spot. No additional charge for our dog which was nice. Manager and staff are plenty friendly. Room was small but had everything we needed. Only drawback was a questionable short straw we found in the desk for what? Coke? And I'm not thinking the drink. If they missed that it made me wonder what else they missed but overall everything else seemed clean. Good location, only 30 mins from red rock canyon and tehachapi with unique views of the wind farm. Would stay again for the reasonable rate. read more

Inexpensive and clean 2-bed room in Mojave. This place was slightly off the main drag, and to be honest the only thing we heard from our room was a dog barking in a neighbor's backyard behind the hotel during the early evening, so noise was not a problem. This place isn't fancy, but it works. Everything we needed to work worked, the shower was fine, the room was clean. Really, no complaints about this safe, clean place to sleep for a night on a road trip. The man in the office (the owner, I presume) was friendly and helpful, and gave us a wifi password before we could even ask. They offered continental breakfast, but we didn't partake because we wanted to get back on the road. I recommend this place if you need somewhere to stay in Mojave. read more

I stayed here while moving to AZ based on the other Yelp reviews, and they were right! This place, though old, was clean clean clean. I drove in at 10:30 pm and was helped by the owner who was very nice. I was allowed to bring my cat with no extra charge, he gave me the wifi code and there was plenty of parking for the UHaul. Although I didn't use them, there was a fridge, a microwave, a coffee maker and a blowdryer, plus a TV including movie channels. And the price was terrific! No complaints at all! read more

For the price, it was everything we wanted. We wanted to visit Los Angeles for a day and this was a hour and a half away so not too bad. The couple that runs this place is really friendly. We arrived quite late but they were really understanding which was nice. For breakfast they offer some cereal and coffee, the basics. The room itself was just what we needed. It was clean and most importantly no bugs! I really have no complaints about this inn, and if I had to, I would definitely stay here again. It's really cheap, and it's in Mojave. You shouldn't expect a lot. But I was extremely happy. The room was spacious enough and had all the features I could imagine needing (king-size bed, desk, table and chairs, fridge and microwave, hairdryer, etc). The bed was very comfy. The proprietors were extremely friendly and helpful. Wifi was easy to connect to and fast. Paint, carpet, tile, bedspread all looked pretty new and everything was clean. Breakfast was included. Anywhere in Mojave has some noise, but it was just far enough from the main road and railroad tracks to be fine. Still an easy walk in to town for restaurants. The HVAC unit kept us toasty warm on a very cold night. The downsides were pretty small: it's not beautiful. The desk showed signs of wear. The floor creaks. Some of the fresh paint was over caulk-filled cracks. Breakfast was apples, cereal, oatmeal packets, packaged pastries, coffee and Sunny-D spiked OJ. I looked hard to find a good motel within 75 miles of Mojave; not much seems to be recommended. This place was great (especially given the price!) and I will definitely stay there again the next time I pass through. read more

Rooms are small but nicely remodeled. Frig and coffee pot provided. Separate table and desk. Very friendly front desk. I was, however, disappointed in the wife connection. From my room I had difficulty connecting to webex which may be a problem for road warriors and the like. A good connection is essential for my line of work. Need a place to sleep - great. We stayed here on a Thursday night, checked in around 8pm. Staff was very friendly. We used our AAA membership and got the room at a discount. Upon entering the room we were overwhelmed with heat, the room had to be atleast 90 degrees. You'd think being probably your only guest at the time you'd go into the room and turn on the air to cool the room off... It took the very old wall mounted a/c about 4 hours to cool off. We literally sweated in bed until past midnight. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom yet small was clean. I wanted to give this motel 3 stars but it was miserable being hot like that. It was actually cooler outside then in our room. The TV was large and had a lot of channels. Management needs to cool the rooms off ahead of time for there guest. We didn't take advantage of the free breakfast. read more
