We visited Dorner Vineyard the weekend of their 5 year anniversary. We've tried other wineries in the area and Dorner has such a great venue and is nestled in the trees surrounded by grape vines. The Vineyard has wine tastings, newly opened air bnb villas and event space. We did the red tasting flight. Most of the wines leaned on the tart or dry side to me. I enjoyed the petite Syrah and took a bottle home. They have a few food offerings and a variety of local and domestic beer as well. Party of two. We spent the day wine tasting for my birthday. Dorner was the second stop that we made. Close and proximity to the small town was quick to get there. The inside is the cutest area including lots of items to shop for. From kitchen decor to olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Staff were extremely polite and had knowledge of their wines. Wine tasting was great. The entire place was nice and clean including the restroom. The outside area is large but it was a colder day so we just walked around quickly. Area to sit outside with a beautiful view as well. You are able to order snacks as well. They do have coffee you can order. Perfect,if you are the designated DD. This is a must stop if driving to Tehachapi for wine tasting. Got to speaking with the owner and she had just been in my home state of Texas. Great place for a party. We arrived to a party we were invited to. It was down a short dirt road. We made the left turn and we were in a bustling party zone. After finding a parking space, we stumbled into a bar (party #1), then wandered out to a lively space with live music (party #2), checked out some vendor booths scattered about, and were finally able to locate our party (#3), in a banquet room with a nice outdoor patio. Tempranillo was really good and we liked the Riesling so much we bought our own bottle . Will return if we're ever back in this neck of the woods. read more

They must be doing a solid business because they have invested what appears to be alot of money into the property, furniture and grounds. We have visited Dorner Vineyard twice, hoping for a better experience the second time. Unfortunately, both visits were disappointing. The first time, the staff was slow and inattentive during our tasting. On our return visit, the service model required customers to wait in long lines just to receive each sample, rather than being served in a seated, guided manner. This approach felt disorganized and unprofessional, making the experience frustrating and far from enjoyable. As a casual wine enthusiast, I don't usually write reviews, but the consistently poor service warrants this feedback. We will not be returning, and I would advise other wine lovers to consider alternative vineyards that offer a more hospitable and customer-focused experience. Another one of the hidden gems in this area. Went on a weekend , and was pleasantly surprised ... their was a live musician, wasn't crowded , plenty of parking. The owner introduced herself to us , upon arrival. Loved that they have multiple lists of tastings to chose from.... Something for everyone. You can do your tasting inside or outside. Opted for the outside patio, since it was a nice day. They also offer slushies and gelato. I enjoyed the tasting a lot, even picked up a bottle to go. Tasting fees are $12 a person , for I believe five samples. Not too bad at all. The staff here were also friendly . You can order a pizza or grab some snacks from the inside also as well. Umbrellas cover the tables ... which provided some nice shade... on a hot day. The wines I tasted were all good. Hard to choose my favorite. I must say the bathroom was very clean . We had an amazing time staying in the Tuscan villa. It was gorgeous. The villa was clean and well stocked with everything you need. The heater and fireplace made for a cozy night when the weather was cold and rainy. We enjoyed the oversized shower and towel warmer. The bed was very comfortable and the linens were good quality. Outside you have a private porch and fire pit. There is also a beautiful fountain. The grounds are beautiful, quiet, and serene. It is a short walk to the winery where you can enjoy delicious wine and charcuterie. We enjoyed daily European continental breakfast and celebrated our anniversary morning with mimosas. Michele, the owner, was amazing. She was so kind and very receptive to texts and questions. She was very hospitable and made sure we had all we needed. I strongly recommend Dorner if you're looking for a relaxing and romantic getaway. We look forward to visiting again soon! read more

We LOVE Dorner's. Mike & Michelle, the owners couldn't be more friendly, welcoming, and helpful! Their wines are quality and the facility is simply gorgeous. We enjoy reds mostly in the wintertime and whites in the summertime. Recently we've very. much enjoyed the red blend & the pinot noir. The musicians they book for weekends are always good & the company merry. Had a tasting consisting of the 2017 White Zinfandel, 2015 Merlot, 2016 Old Vine Zinfandel, 2016 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, and red blend. Although I'm not a huge white fan, the white zin was the real stand out for me. The reds I had were all very light. If you want a fat chewy wine, these aren't them. However, they are light and tasty for a summer day. I also had a charcuterie board. It was simple with common cheeses (not that that's a bad thing), but not a bad portion for 2 people. The outdoor area is delightful. Great furniture and lots of shade. They also had live music!!! (Which is especially amazing during COVID). read more

My husband and I came here yesterday and we had a nice day here. Wine was nice and so were the sandwiches. The reason for the 2 stars is because of the customer service we got. One girl in particular was kinda rude to us and to an employee who was amazing to us. I don't remember her name but she looked Italian and the girl who was rude had brown hair and had a purple shirt on. So anyway, I had asked the girl in the purple shirt about the olive oils and balsamic vinegar as to where the owner ordered it from. She said " oh I don't know she orders them and just puts her own labels on them." Wow really taking credit for someone's work? That is not right. But still I bought some. I also took some wine home as well. Don't know if we will come back here. It just gave a bad vibe do to the rude girl in the purple shirt. Wish I got her name. Place and location are charming patio is lovely, yet serving food is a good idea but quality of food is very poor and should be reconsidered if you wanted a repeat customer. It's not hard to make a pizza with a nice dough , yet it's totally failed. The chicken sandwich as a special of the day was miserable to say the least with a garnish of old grapes that were not washed well! Why? We came here to taste some wine. They had 3 selections already pre selected which just was nice 1 regular which was mixed 2 was all sweets 3 was all reds. My husband and I had all sweets which were all good. My son had the regular he didn't complain he was happy. Music was playing in the main large room. Today food dish was Tri tip was so tender and tasty with beans and salad with corn bread. They were friendly and nice. You have to leave your card open here sooo That was told to us but this was my 1st time doing this at a winery. I want to come back in the summer to enjoy some time. Came here for a wedding! There wasn't too many pictures of the venue so I decided to take some. Hope you get a nice perspective of the place. It really came out great! I was very surprised!!! The path/road to get here was all dirt. Dont wash your car if you plan to come out here. The parking is a mess. Nothing assigned. And no pavement. Looks like they are slowly updating all around the premises. This particular event had about 150 people attending. There was a lower deck with tables set up and a porch/dance floor with more tables. These were for the bride/groom and close family. It was nicely set up but I feel everyone was segregated... like lower class on the ground and upper class on the deck. They had the wedding here as well as the reception and that is a time saver!!! Dont have to drive to two different places! From what I asked, They have wedding packages starting from 10k... If you book this venue. The wedding planner, Dj , videographers, photographers, food etc.. are included... this is pretty neat because the same people are involved and know how everything works and work well with each other. I also came here from Bakersfield which was an hour drive both ways! It's a nice drive out. But if your whole party wants to get wasted someone has to be the DD or get a room close by. read more

This place has be lovely grounds. Area for weddings and pictures. Plenty of room for parties guests. Fantastic music. The gift shop had so many cute items for sale. They were very busy but wonderful customer service...four people were working. A fun place to take friends to show the beauty of Tehachapi. Their red blend is beautiful. They have wines for everyone. So many wines I need to return to try the others a sparkling zin that is lovely. I look forward to returning and trying the Chenin blanc and Syrah. They have 8 wines on the tasting menu and you can choose 5 and other wines you can buy by the bottle. Their cheese platters are lovely: Three cheeses, grapes, strawberries, apples, nuts, crackers, fig jam, mustard, three different meats all presented on a granite slate. Very strange place. Do not recommend. Here's my experience... First of all, everything was sticky. I commented on how sticky everything was, and the woman told me to "wash my hands." When I came back from the bathroom, she had cleared my half-full glass. I figured it was a mistake, so I ordered another one. When I handed her my money, she stated, "You're the one who's sticky. Your money is sticky. Did you wash your hands?" I thought she was joking, but she got her husband to come over. She instructed him to look at my hands and said, "There's the sticky guy." I nervously laughed, but she told her husband to go into the men's room with me to "make sure I wash my hands right." The husband didn't speak at all. He just followed me to the bathroom and nodded while I scrubbed. When I came back, she had cleared my full wine glass. She claimed, "I thought you left," and asked if I wanted another. I was confused because her husband was with me the entire time in the bathroom watching me wash my hands. I ordered another because I had barely been able to try any wine. As I was taking my first sip, the woman opened the door to the bathroom and yelled, "What is that smell?" I had no idea what she was talking about. I had only washed my hands with her husband silently watching me. In front of everyone, she asked loudly, "What did you eat?" At this point, her husband took the near-full wine glass from my hands and pointed to the exit. I wasn't sure what was going on. The woman loud whispered to me, "I'm not sure what you did in there, but I know my husband's scent. That wasn't him, so it must be you and your sticky hands." I still have no idea what she was talking about. I feel bad for leaving this review because I'm sure the woman must be going through something. However, it's no way to treat a customer. In the end, I paid for 3 glasses of wine and was barely able to drink any. On top of that, I seemed to be picked on for no reason. Just overall weird. Avoid at all costs. Plenty of other places to go to where you don't be treated like a second class citizen. I expect an apology, but I'm sure I won't get it. This woman will likely gaslight me, deny it ever happened, and call me crazy. Oh well, this review is the truth. It's one of the strangest experiences of my life. read more

We attended a Celebration of Life for my Sister In Law Tammy Ann Bennett - Wallace here. They had tables covered in white linen table cloths, chairs on a huge deck and lawn area. The drinks and food were set up on the patio. It was very nice in a beautiful setting with the hills above and with the valley below. Mike and Michele Dorner are both warm and friendly. I can be there for hours enjoying the space, listening to live music or purchasing a little something from their gift area.

I had been here once before for goat yoga and I had thought the place was so pretty , and would be a beautiful place to host a wedding and reception. Well recently I got invited to a wedding there. And yes it has gorgeous scenery but the professionalism was horrific. The wedding we went too , there was only signs where to park but none to where the ceremony would be held, so you walk around aimlessly looking. The ceremony was beautiful my friends picked gorgeous decor and the back drop of Dorners was perfect. I never saw a employee to assist any of the ceremony , however their officiant, Bob, was kind enough to greet us and show us the way. Unfortunately unforeseen circumstances happened shortly after the dinner started. A very important guest at the wedding had a massive heart attack and fell into a bush. The groom rushed over and immediately started CPR. As did firefighters that were attending the wedding. Nobody knows how to react or what they would do as this situation is happening. After the medic FINALLY (not Dorners fault) arrived the gentlemen was taken by ambulance and wedding ended immediately. My husband and I stayed to clean up in hopes to help let the bride and groom grieve and collect there children and get home. Since the best day of their lives was so tragic. And their young child was with the gentleman when he fell and ultimately passed away. In trying to help clean we knew know one. So the bridesmaids were guiding us on who's stuff was who's. The caterer was assisting in packing up food and helping. THEN THE OWNERS; Well the gentleman gave my husband a bucket and said he can empty drinks in it. Anything we would ask the woman she was no help or assistance. Mind you this is the first time I had seen them since I arrived or the tragedy took place. Everyone was distraught and just wanting to clean and go. It was so unprofessional the owners kids were coming out of the house. The blinds to the home were open , which was also the back drop of reception that never took place. With the lights on and tv going. Technically the wedding had 3 hours left because reception never started. So I'm asking the woman owner for help with what to do with things her response was I don't know. Never offering to lend a helping hand. The male owner gave my husband a bucket to empty drink. I felt they were cold and rude and put out by the inconvenience. So basically Dorners got paid for a service that the bride and groom only received half of the services due to tragic circumstances. They offered no compensation to the bride and groom (I asked) and also were less then helpful with clean up and friendliness. I never saw them until a while after the guest was taken by ambulance. Needless to say, yes it is beautiful, but the customer service was a huge disappointment. I felt they could have been around far sooner and been more helpful and empathetic . I understand no one knows what to do under these circumstances, but being a good person isn't work. And treating people kind and respectful. Not like you are put out by our questions of how to clean, and giving my husband a bucket to dump drinks. It felt like nothing more then a transaction. They just got a early night due to someone else's tragedy. They are rude , cold and inconsiderate. So don't expect.anymore then a venue. That is all you get from Dorners. NOTHING MORE!! Side note Caterer, bar, DJ, and photography was all hired separate. They have no attachment to this complaint. In fact the caterer and DJ went above and beyond to try and help get the crowd settled and the place cleaned up ! read more

We had a less than positive experience at this "family" vineyard and the owner has been rude and callous to our complaint. She called our children entitled and has responded in person and on social media with little to no care. Long story short our seven year old daughter was drinking a root beer out of a wine glass and she came over and ripped it out of her hand accusing us of letting our child drink alcohol. Our daughter felt awful and was upset not understanding what she had done wrong. After trying to be patient and understanding of the proprietor's position I now have to question how an owner of a vineyard can't see the difference between a muddy brown root beer and her own Pinot Noir. The name of the business is deceiving and there are other great family friendly places to visit in the area. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. My family and I were very excited to view this venue. However we were very unpleased with the service from the owner, Michele. Very unprofessional especially when you're looking at a venue going to cost well over 10K. You're not allowed to ask questions or make any statements about a different area of the venue being nicer without being told "that's your opinion-but you can rent out the whole winery if you'd like" very sarcastically. The owner is very unprofessional and even sent me a text trying to blame my father for why she won't be hosting my event. (See attached). I wouldn't waste your time viewing this venue. They had a good white Zinfandel and a pleasant charcuterie board. They offer food through vendors. In our case the vendor of the day cancelled so there was no food. Poor accommodations: did not wipe down the wet outdoor seats until requested, patio heaters were not functional, and we had to walk through a thick crowd of people to pay indoors. We had to keep going indoors to request service. This would not be the place for anyone concerned with COVID. read more

Now it seems after a little recognition,their prices have been raised significantly, monopolization of having to only purchase their overpriced food and no longer the "family" friendly environment they once were. We went there for July 31 2021 for the summer time festival with another couple to have some wine and food. We've been here before and had a wonderful time. But this time it wasn't as nice as the wine we always get went up from 30 to 60 bucks. We choose something else it was good but not as good. The real problem was the flies tons of them. They were everywhere you couldn't leave your food uncovered for a second without a ton of flies landing on it. I understand it's outside but I think with fans set up or something else the flies could have been controlled a bit. Disappointing to have wine and food with tons of flies. read more

This past weekend we had the pleasure of celebrating our son's wedding at Dorner Family Vineyard. The venue is beautiful and offers so many places to take amazing photos. What really stands out is the personal service we received from the owner Michele and the coordinator Chelsea. Chelsea and the florist Lindsey did an amazing job executing our son's vision for his special day. Our son is a very detail oriented person and everything was realized just as he wanted. Chelsea was on top of every detail throughout the day and evening and my husband referred to her as "superwoman" several times. At the end of the evening they took care of all the cleanup and packed up our decorations and leftover desserts and alcohol for us to pick up the following morning. Our experience with DFV was exceptional and am looking forward to the opening of their tasting room. read more

This was one of my least favorite places. The staff was not helpful and you have to go up to the bar for your tasting. Most places come to you or give you all your tastings at once. They were not informative or helpful with wine options. They had cheese boards for sale but they were not impressive. The wines were not tasty we actually did not buy any.
