We needed a place that's close to Red Rock Canyon State Park and this one is only 24 miles away and the least expensive. It's actually the best place for the price. The bed is nice and firm, very comfortable. The place is old but clean. Everything works. No shampoo, bring your own, just soap. TV has HBO, microwave, refrigerator and ice did freeze water bottle. The Ice machine actually has plenty of ice. AC works perfectly. Now, there is a railroad in the back would run every 20 minutes or so, bring your ear plugs if you need total silence to sleep. Coffee in the morning is ok. Plenty of vending machine in the office area. If you need total darkness to sleep, bring eyes covers. read more

This place is f*cking disgusting. I've stayed here before with no issues, though I did still feel the need to clean the room up a bit before getting comfy, but this place has definitely gone downhill. I got a smoking room because that was all that was available. It's hard to believe that this and the other motel 6 were completely booked up, but here we are. This room is so gross and I'm not even talking about the smell. It looks and feels like it hasn't been cleaned in ages, and of course the sheets are badly stained and feel musty and oily inside. My cats have literally become oily and dirty/gross just staying here a few hours, my nose has become stuffed and also feels greasy inside whenever i breathe in. I honesty feel like the bed might give me a venereal disease. I havent been able to sleep, its so nasty and loud and the bed shakes and makes extremely loud noise anytime someone or something moves on it, the trains are extremely loud, ppl walking by sound like theyre in your room, I wish I just slept in my car somewhere. Wouldve gotten the same amount of sleep, or more, without feeling like I have to take a 5 hour shower after, AND bathe my cats on top of it. I so regret staying here, I honestly feel like crying. I would NOT recommend this place at all. The only good thing about it is the front staff is nice. I'm honestly so uncomfortable, idk what to do. I don't want to take any of this in the car with me, but unsure how to do that, especially with cats. This was such a waste of money. read more

Only problem is the maid, we had our dog with us and she needed to sleep under the sink in the bathroom due to her emotional problems and she did, the next morning we had to move rooms so they could clean the room up so we did not a problem. We get to our new room and everything good. We get a call from the front desk saying we washed our dog in the shower and used the hotels towels to dry her. Very incorrect! Our dog slept in the bathroom and their shower leaked so the wet towels on the ground are due to the shower leaking not us washing out dog! Like come on be real! Then the first day we were here we were leaving to go get some food and one of the maids pulls in and she parked right next to us as we are getting in our car and watches us and is completely rude glaring at us then we leave and she takes our spot! The only spot we can see our car from our room just to be rude, as we pull in ( still in our car) she comes out of the room she's "cleaning" and locked her car and watches us and waits tell we go inside our room to finish her job. I know we don't have a brand new nice car we have a van, but there is no reason to be rude like that! We have not even been here a night at that point. And we are nothing but nice to the staff here we have never had a problem or even stayed here before! Very rude! (That's the lady that's cleaning our room we got moved from so I'm not sure if she's just saying things to be mean or get us kicked out or charged but that's not okay). Other than that we have had nothing but a wonderful stay here! Great location! Good food around! Clean for the most part and pretty safe during the day. I hate to mention color but maybe that came into play. Because the 2 people that helped me seemed to be have an attitude towards white senior handicapped individuals. Was just stopping for a one nighter going to Bishop and found this place and my wife and I were very surprised and delighted by the price, cleanliness and the great help from Danny in the front office. Stayed here for about 40 min before I checked out and went elsewhere. The room didn't seem to be cleaned very well, the paint was chipping in the restroom, the shower was either improperly built or very poorly maintained. The "guests" next to us were smoking right outside of our rooms in addition to using a charcoal grill. I travel a lot all over the country. I have seen many different motels and hotels. And I would give this motel a 5 until today. I have been here several times before. The front desk staff are always friendly and welcoming. They always try to help. The rooms are also in very good condition. Usually everything works there. This motel check-out time is 11 am. And today there was a very persistent knock on the door of my room at 9 am. The motel employee knocked on my door to tell me that the check out time was 11. This is not professional. I paid for the hotel until 11. And I don't want to see anyone until that time. If I overdue the time, then come. Very unprofessional and rude staff here this morning. Also this time there were problems with plumbing. And never take a room overlooking the 14th road. Trains run from here all the time. It's very loud. read more

This newly refurbished motel is clean and functional. The comfortable king bed with a selection of pillows provided a good night of sleep for this weary traveler. Initially I was taken aback by the noise of nearby trains (just behind the motel) but the in-room heater/cooler fan provided the right amount of background noise for this light sleeper. I like that the floors are a mix of laminate and tile (no carpet), which adds to the room's cleanliness. The room has soap but no other toiletries or tissues. This particular room also has a microwave and mini frig. An ice machine is located at the center of the complex. I also like that the motel is next door to a Subway sandwich shop and a gas station convenience store. I would stay here again. read more

I came to review this place and I see my son beat me to it. He was slightly generous in his appraisal, but it deserve a little credit. My family is in the process of moving across the country [from Northern California to Tennessee]. After a late start and some vehicle trouble, we only made it as far as Mojave on our first day, so we stopped to find a motel. My sons were driving the pickup, my wife was driving the van with my two daughters, our dog and our cat, and I was driving the 26' U-Haul towing a Toyota. We were quite the entourage. We saw the Motel 6 sign rising out of the desert with a large "WI-FI HERE" sign, and it was like an oasis. Motel 6 -- usually a reliable, consistently average place to stay for a large family -- rarely disappoints. In this instance, I was disappointed. To begin with, we needed two rooms because [obviously] putting 6 people in a room with two animals is a bit much. Although there were very few cars in the parking lot (we're talking 4 or 5 for the whole motel) we couldn't get rooms on the ground floor and the two rooms we did get were separated by several other rooms. Again, we didn't see anybody in them at night and there was maybe 1 or 2 additional cars in the lot in the morning. Speaking of parking, I had to park the fully loaded moving truck (with the car in tow) in a dirt lot "next door" (it was an elevated lot behind a row of bushes so you couldn't see the vehicles from the rooms.) Thankfully everything was in tact in the morning, so I will chalk that up to paranoia. Pets were $10 each which is understandable, although other Motel 6's have accommodated us without a fee. The staff was very friendly, and that was one of the saving graces of this motel. When we settled into our rooms, we kicked back to check our Facebooks, ready our emails, and let everybody know we were safe. And that's when we discovered that "WI-FI HERE" meant you could purchase it. And not just, "Okay, here's $3 thanks for the password" but it costs for every single device you want to connect. So my daughters iPod, my sons iPad, my wife's Laptop, etc. would each cost money. $3.99 for one device, $4.99 for two devices, and $5.99 for three devices. My sons paid for it because I was being stubborn and I wouldn't take one myself. I like to review the pools for the motels that have them, but this pool was closed. It looked inviting [despite the wind] but we were informed that it was closed because the lights were out. :) Another saving grace was that the rooms were clean and the bed was very comfortable. I actually slept better that night than I had in many months -- of course I had been wrangling a 26 foot moving truck all day, so I was tired. I slept so good, in fact, that I barely noticed the frequent freight trains that thundered past the motel while sounding their horns. I thought it was kind of cool, in fact. It wasn't until the next morning when the REST of my posse informed me of how horrible the noise was. If I were travelling through Mojave again and needed to stop for the night, I would personally take a chance on a different hotel -- even if it looked more "divey." I would rate this one star if it wasn't for the friendly clerk and the comfortable bed. read more

The blankets in our room had cigarette burns and the room was some what dirty. When we got here it felt really unsafe a man kept staring at us and the window screens look like they have been taken off before. Definitely not a safe place to stay. Let me start off by saying that I don't think I've stayed at a Motel 6 since I was a teenager. I'll stay in a shithole if I am desperate, and last night I was desperate. Honestly, this place isn't the best but I don't expect a lot out of a Motel 6. This place gets two stars because it had the three things I needed so desperately after a weeklong camping trip in the Grand Canyon: a bed, a pool, and a shower. With that being said, this place kind of sucks. Definitely not the worst though. Didn't see too many questionable people; seemed to be mainly folks visiting loved ones in the area prisons and truckers. We had the bed of our truck fully loaded with camping gear and everything was still there in the morning. The pool was almost a welcoming site, except for the fact that it was fairly dirty and lacked any scent of chlorine. The water pressure in the bathroom is the worst I have ever seen in a motel/hotel/holiday inn. No joke. The sink sprayed like three streams of mist. WTF? The shower? Don't even bother. The water goes from freezing to lukewarm to scalding and there is no pressure. Beds aren't the most comfortable but I slept, so there's that. The AC in our room was sooooo bad. It's summertime and Mojave is a blistering hot place at times. At the very least, I should feel confident that when I stay someplace that has an air conditioner, I won't wake up every hour covered in sweat. The AC would blow out a coolish breeze every few minutes and then go back to blowing room temperature air. Absolutely ridiculous. Any light sleepers may want to stay away due to the frequent trains that roll by. I've lived near trains for the majority of my life so it didn't bother me but it might be a little loud for other people. All in all, I probably wouldn't stay here again. read more

Over the years, my family and I have taken many road trips and each trip we have stayed at multiple Motel Sixes and I have to say that this one is one of the worst. Although, I'm not cheap by nature, I have a difficult time spending a lot of money for a night's stay at a hotel. All I really need them for is a moderately clean room that doesn't smell, a clean, somewhat comfortable bed and working bathroom with shower. That's not too much to ask for, right? At first glance, I thought my room would fit that bill, but upon closer inspection, I discovered I was wrong. I will start with my bed. I was happy to see that the sheets were clean, but man were they coarse as were the pillow cases. The exposed box spring side was torn from head to foot and conveniently hidden beneath the comforter. Then there was the "blanket" between the sheet and comforter.. It was some sort of wool-esque material made from (what appeared to be) matted warthog fur. And the actual bed itself was hard as a rock. The bathroom was very brightly lit, which was a plus, but the stark white walls were stained in multiple places with a yellow liquid that obviously ran down from its initial point of contact. I didn't ask and I truly don't want to know. The shower was decent. It was relatively clean and the shower head had OK water pressure. We also had plenty of hot water so no issues there. Anyone contemplating a stay here also must know that the rooms are barely 100 yards away from a very busy set of railroad tracks and the trains pass through all night long and I think their engineers get their rocks off blowing their horns at 3:00 AM. Throughout the night actually. Fortunately for me, I was raised near some RR tracks so this was actually a little relaxing to me and brought back memories of my childhood. Finally, there was the rooms thermal controls. The in-room thermostat had a variety of temperature settings, but the actual AC / heating unit only understood two; bake and freeze. Oh, I almost forgot. At one point, my wife had to go down to our FJ and get something she forgot. Upon reentering our room, she commented that there were hookers hanging out in the parking lot. I wasn't sure if that should take away a star or add another. I will let y'all make that call for yourselves. All in all, there are three or four other hotel choices in lovely Mojave city. Make sure you check them all for vacancy before coming here. read more

On our family's road trip, we had no choice but to stop after car troubles, fatigue, and more. The motel was the first sight we saw and stopped to check it out. Overall: Pros: - Rooms are clean - Staff was friendly and helpful - Machines work well (ice, drinks were super cold, and the snack machine was full) - Pet friendly - Decent channels (i.e. free HBO channels) Cons: - Literally one street away from a large (and frequently traveled) train track. - Air conditioning doesn't work well unless you set it to 68 degrees - Motel 6 now charges $3 per night for wifi access - No room for truckers or a moving truck (i.e.. uhaul) unless you park away and walk across the street - Beds were a bit stiff For the cost, it's a decent place to stay. Keeps you out of the bad wind and has good options for food etc nearby. I would day I'd stay again - but this is the last time I'm driving 3000 miles! Haha read more

John really went out of his way to make sure we knew where the quietest rooms would be (in Building 4, away from the train tracks!) and was just genuinely kind and helpful! The rooms were really so much cleaner and nicer than the last Motel 6 we'd just stayed in, though there were a couple little bits of someone else's dark hair in the shower. The only reason I give it only 3 stars is that--in the middle of the DESERT--they have remodeled their rooms without making the old toilets the priority to upgrade: these toilets use SO MUCH WATER per flush, it was honestly heartbreaking. That really ought to be a priority, as our state of California is in such a dire shortage, it is unacceptable to still continue using such terribly old, criminally wasteful toilets. read more

Absolutely dreadful service & stay. The staff was more interested in feeding the stray cats in the parking lot than they were in helping me get a room. The rooms look nice enough when you enter one since they've been remodeled, but that soon changed very drastically for me. One of the beds was stained, the room smelled like the inside of an esophagus belonging to an 80 year old smoker with lung cancer. As if that wasn't enough, on top of the mirror in the bathroom, I found a used tube of off-brand Vagisil along with drug paraphernalia, still containing bits of the drug in question. When I brought my findings to the staff, they didn't care & told me to just throw it in the trash. This stay was already absolutely awful. I decided to unwind with some Netflix on the PS3 I brought with me, only to find their advertised "free-wifi" on their website was wifi you had to pay for, and you had to pay per device, with your time expiring at midnight, regardless of if you purchased a pass 12 hour or 12 minutes before midnight. No matter how good a deal you can get on a room in this place, don't. This Motel 6 is god awful, especially compared to the one we had stayed at the night before that was just down the road, which I'd highly suggest you take a look at before resorting to this garbage motel. read more

Everything was as basic as you'd expect from Motel 6, but comfortable enough for a night on the road. There is noise from the railroad but that's hard to get away from in Mojave. If I could give this place a negative rating I would. Stopped here only because every place in Bakersfield was sold out. I was headed back from Sacramento to Vegas and needed to stop for the night to just sleep for a few hours. Got a room at 3am, arrived by 4am, and I should have just slept in my car and thrown my $60 in the trash. The door to the room didn't completely shut so cold air got in, plus the latch on the door wasn't fully attached so I didn't feel that safe. The bed sheets looked like they hadn't been changed out since 1995. It had the look of a place where you'd expect to see bed bugs. If I wasn't completely exhausted I would have left immediately. Instead I tried to get at least a few hours of sleep. That didn't happen. Between the heater letting out an awful smell to the point where I was concerned it might also be letting out carbon monoxide (so I shut it off) and the constant trains going by on the tracks across the street, coupled with the unsealed door and thin windows, I maybe slept for a complete hour. I had the room until 11, but left at 8am without showering because I was afraid of what would come out the faucet. The guy at the front desk, when I told him these things, didn't seem to care nor offer any suggestions on how to remedy the situation. This is a dump and I would stay away at all costs next time. After the debacle down the street at America's Best Value Inn, I drove to the edge of town and Motel 6. Nice property, off the main drag, grassy lawn. Desk clerk, a young man, was very pleasant and very professional. Assigned me a room next to a parking spot, of ease of unpacking my car. I was in the room about 2 hours when I noticed how warm it was... getting. Seems the A/C, tied to the thermostat, was blowing hot air. Another clerk came by to fix the problem, but once she left, it reverted to its old self. The original desk clerk was both sympathetic and quick to assist, giving me a room a few doors down and telling me to "take your time transferring your things." THIS is real customer service. Second room was fine, cool and very nice. I will stay here again should I be driving through the area. read more

Stayed here for 1 night. It was about $50. The rooms were recently renovated which was nice. Only thing I didn't like was no carpet on the floors, instead they were all wood. One note I should mention is that this motel is next to a double track railroad that sees 50+ trains a day. Although I didn't mind this, people don't like loud noises may not want to stay here as a railroad crossing is within the hotel vicinity. Staff was friendly & I'd definitely stay here again. read more
