We were invited to a wedding in Tehachapi and the area didn't have any of the usual brands I liked to stay with. The Fairfield by Mariott Inn & Suites Tehachapi was one of the better options. In their price range, they had the better reviews by compare. Honestly there wasn't a lot of reviews or photos for businesses in this area, so I just made the best decision based on the information I was able to find. Check-in was at 3pm, but we would have to head out around 3:30pm so it would leave us no time to get ready. When I called the hotel, they said to check back at 12noon on the day of the visit because that's when they are able to see the check outs and availability to see if an early check-in was available. On the day of the wedding, I called and they said they can accommodate a 1pm early check-in at no additional cost. Yay! This gave us ample time to settle in and get ready. The room we got was narrow with a lot going on like a long hallway. We came in and there was the bathroom. Hairdryer is provided but it's in the closer. Then there was a semi kitchen area with a microwave and a fridge. This is great because not many hotels have microwaves these days. Then there was a sofa area with a tv. And then finally the bedroom area with another tv. The WORST THING about this hotel is the bed. The metal bed frame stuck out and my boyfriend and I hurt ourselves multiple times bumping into it. Also the bed wasn't too comfortable because my sleep quality was poor and I woke up with back pains. Good thing it was just one day. And the pillows were like small tiny half pillows. My boyfriend joked about shrinkflation. Additionally the walls are thin. You can hear the nearby doors close. So it wasn't the best for resting. Another complaint is that their shower leaks a lot of water from the faucet which wastes water and also gives less water to the showerhead. Total waste. The gym area had minimal equipment. 1 treadmill, 1 elliptical, 1 bike, 1 stairclimber, and 1 weight bench with a weight rack. What really bothered me was that there was no cleaning equipment. I also doubt staff cleans up much because the water was out when we looked on Saturday afternoon and still out Sunday morning. It was still nice to get a work out in. My boyfriend wanted to run in high elevation so he went on the treadmill and I went on the elliptical. They also have an indoor pool that we didn't check out because it was closed on Saturday, during the day time. It's an indoor pool because Tehachapi gets all 4 seasons, including the snowy winter. Breakfast is included. Not the best but edible. Enough to get us started in the morning and make our way in the direction of home. We both ate the scrambled eggs and bacon. The bacon was thin and bland. I actually wished I grabbed less which is rare for me with bacon. My boyfriend had a muffin and he was able to toast it. I had a waffle that was okay but probably been sitting there for a while. We both had orange juice which was definitely watered down from concentrate. Not good enough to get a second cup. My boyfriend also tried their coffee but he said it was bad so I didn't get any. I didn't see any staff at the desk when we checked out and I didn't get any email to self check out so I just left my room keys in a basket of all the other room keys I saw behind the desk. A decent option FOR THE AREA... but I'm not really trying to be in the area if I wasn't obligated to. read more

Our family stayed at the Fairfield Inn in Tehachapi on Thanksgiving Day, and it honestly made our holiday travel so much easier. From the moment we arrived, everything felt clean, comfortable, and welcoming. We loved that parking was free (huge plus during a busy travel weekend!), and the room itself was surprisingly spacious -- perfect for a family who comes with plenty of bags and snacks. The beds were comfy, the space was quiet, and we all got a great night's rest. Breakfast the next morning was also complimentary and had a solid variety of options to get us fueled up before hitting the road again. Super convenient and stress-free. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice this hotel is compared to the newer hotels in this town. We come to this town frequently since we have family here. The room was comfy with two tvs since there is a "family room" area as well as where the bed is. The bathroom is large and good ventilation. The room also had a microwave, small bar fridge and a bar sink.The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were decent too. A clean place overall. Plenty of parking that is included with the stay. We will return here the next time we see family. read more

We are Marriott members and go to many of their hotels and timeshares. We decided to split the time for the drive to Las Vegas by staying in Tehachapi overnight on the way there. We had scoped out the Fairfield Inn last time we drove through in May, and decided it was worth a try. We made a reservation on the drive there, as the last time I called, they didn't properly put the reservation through. We were able to get a room with two queen sized beds for comfort, and it was the handicapped room, which is often available when nothing else is. We had been warned about the $50. parking fee, which is pretty bogus, since there is ample parking there. We checked in easily at the front desk, the staff were very friendly. I was having a mobility issue, so I had to sit whenever possible and the front lobby had comfortable chairs. The front lobby was clean and spacious, but the decor was subpar. It couldn't make up its mind between desert and modernism. The color scheme was kind of 80's orange wood, with yellowy chairs and coral accents. The other oddity was that the faux fire was never lit the entire time we were there. It would have added a note of warmth to the room. A major glitch was that the key to our room would not work. This was a handicapped room, located at the very end of a loooong hallway. I sat on the floor while the hotel maid let us in with her master key. We unloaded in a large clean room, and he returned downstairs for a new key, which also did not work. We decided to stay in the room until dinner, and try another key on the way back in. I had searched YELP for restaurants, but most of the ones I would be interested in were closed on Sundays, so we asked at the front desk. The very helpful staff suggested Don Perico's Restaurant, so off we went. There is a small refrigerator in the room, so we were able to save out dinner meal leftovers. When we returned, the key finally worked, and we settled down. We were on the second floor, and could hear a lot of noise on the third floor, with kids running around. The other caveat is that the TV selection is pretty limited, but I got their WiFi to work, and watched streaming shows. Again, the bathroom and room decor are very grey and institutional looking, more like a conference hotel than a vacation spot. I got up super early and went to the breakfast area, and it was the highlight of the stay. There were huge carafes of Starbuck's coffee as well as real cream, and Coffee mate Creamer. There was also a large selection of healthy breakfast choices like oatmeal with a bunch of toppings, packaged yogurt, and bagels. In hot chafing dishes with scrambled eggs and bacon, and packaged croissant breakfast sandwiches. I had a few cups of coffee ( I added chocolate chips to make it mocha) and yogurt, while my husband chowed down on the eggs, and bacon with added toast. The breakfast room is large, so many families were partaking of the breakfast. There is a sweet view of the mountains behind the hotel from the breakfast area. Checkout was fast and easy as we had prepaid (a necessity) and we were able to pullup the car right in front and we were on our way!!! read more

We stayed at the Fairfield Inn and Suites in Tehachapi for my son's wedding. The hotel is approximately 10 years old. The elevators are a bit scary as they make some very strange noises. Andrea checked us in and was very professional and nice. The rooms are well appointed and clean and the views of the mountains are nice. The downfall is the train that goes by all night long and sounds like it is coming through the room. The conductor blows that horn starting at approximately a mile away and all the way through. The walls are a bit thin and the refrigerator hummed and squealed all night long. Needless to say the Marriott chain hotels are still our favorites. The breakfast buffet was a nice touch and the front counter staff and housekeeping are very professional, kind and accommodating. read more

First stop was to the check in counter where I was greeted by customer service young lady named Alma. Great personality and professionalism in which she answered all my question on things to do in town. She explained some of the towns history about the railroad that I had about The Tehachapi Loop, Giant Windmill's and Restaurants. The room was spotless and very inviting. The sounds of the train's passing thru was priceless bringing back memories of my childhood. I would like to thank Alma for helping making my stay very memorable and enjoyable. I booked a reservation at the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Tehachapi specifically because I confirmed over the phone that the property could accommodate in the PARKING LOT our 39-foot RV, which we tow with a Dodge Ram 3500. When we arrived after a seven-hour drive, we were told we would have to park on the street. There were no available spots on the street. I tried explaining to the hotel there was nowhere on the street we would fit due to the number of trucks already parked there. They refused to take responsibility for the fact someone at the front desk misrepresented their parking capabilities, and refused to issue a refund for a stay we could not use. The person at the front desk was rude beyond compare. If you read other reviews this is not uncommon. As a result, we were forced to drive another 90 miles in the evening after a long travel day, which was both unsafe and unacceptable. We arrived at Barstow after dark. The staff I spoke with before booking clearly misrepresented the hotel's ability to handle RV parking. Travelers pulling trailers or RVs should avoid this property. Now, onto where you should stay! On a positive note, the Holiday Inn- Outlet Mall in Barstow has a section of the parking lot which is pull-through parking and the woman working the front desk was absolutely lovely. We didn't get there until after 7:00, had driven 8 1/2 hours, and were tired and hungry. I asked her if we could have a room close to our RV, since the lobby is on the other side, and she found us an available room. I asked her for dinner recommendations, and she handed me a sheet of paper with a list of local restaurants within walking distance. Not sure why, but she even said she was sorry for what we experienced earlier in the day, and that she hoped we had a comfortable stay that could maybe make up for our earlier experience with the hotel chain I will no longer mention or EVER stay at again. read more

We had a balcony with a view (308) that overlooks the Tehachapi hills. A very quiet location with comfortable beds. We have stayed in other hotels in Tehachapi, but this is #1! It is about 20 min. south from the military's Bakersfield National Cemetery ( a surprisingly, beautiful place! ). Ten minutes north of the cemetery, is a fun stop; Murray Family Farms, where you can fuel up, let the kids run around & buy fresh produce too! In town is a great German bakery & highly rated Indian restaurant also! This is a lovely location that is highly recommended! read more

SO RUDE!!! Abigail Murray was so rude to me. She first ignored me then stopped my reservation with booking.com. My son was sick and we needed to change the date and booking.com said no problem and that the hotel manager had to approve it. Ms. Abigail avoided my calls all week and when I arrived asking for approval I called Booking.com and they said I can change the date no problem and over-rode Abigail then she came and spoke to them on the phone telling them not to approve my request then got in argument with them and asked for the supervisor and he stayed firm with her and she still fought with him. I have never experienced such poor Customer service in my life. read more

Hot dumpster fire of a hotel. Stayed here for one night as was passing thru to get to Ridgecrest. Not only was my room unclean, but the customer service here is horrible. I called to question an extra charge night charge on my credit card and it took over 2 months to get someone on the phone to explain. Every time I called, they said they will call back or they will "attempt" to transfer me. I finally get a call back from the manager and she stated that I booked and cancelled the room myself. I explained that it must have been human error because the room I did book myself was for a lower rate with a military discount and the full price one was done on my behalf thru a travel agency. I explained I never got any confirmations, e-mails, and it was not linked to my Marriott account, so there was no way for me to know this room was booked on my behalf. Worst Fairfield! Entrance: staff folding towels on the check in counter. Room: smelled like urine. Breakfast: all prepackaged, preservative and chemical laden cheap products. Towels: frayed, thin and ragged. Decor: room has an empty hole under the television, no art on walls, dusty shelf over doorway. Staff: does not understand simple requests. Cleaning staff: did not attend bathroom. Pool: murky cloudy dirty. Hot tub: jets overspray and splash outside the tub. On the plus- they served Starbucks coffee, and the facility seems new. Great quite hotel in beautiful Tehachapi. I've spent a couple of nights here while working in town. A incredible upgrade to the piece of sh#*$ I stayed at in Temecula last week. Once again, I will not make my hotel decision on the proximity to a restaurant or bar based on my Temecula experience. I had a mini suite with a little office/living room space. Great for separating work from rest. They also had free weights in the gym. I'm not sure how a hotel can say the have a gym but only have a stationary bike and a treadmill. I need to make a few more trips to Tehachapi, this will be my go to hotel. read more

Check in at night was SUPER SLOW. The front desk person got me out of bed TWICE because she forgot to charge me the correct amount for incidentals. At check out I politely voiced my situation with the morning front desk person (Lysette). She was COMPLETELY uninterested and pretty much gave me an "I don't care" attitude. Not to mention she lacked basic manners. Please, thank you, you're welcome is not part of her vocabulary. Was seeking a quiet place to spend a few days in Tehachapi and decided on the Fairfield because it's a Marriott property and close to the new (to me) downtown area. I had absolutely no problems with the staff. Everyone I interacted with was polite and helpful. My room was on the 3rd floor with a nice sitting area, balcony, and separate coffee/tea/microwave/fridge/sink station in the hall between the sitting area and bathroom. Perfect for my needs. It was peaceful, convenient to the shops & restaurants, clean, & roomy. The two ladies who stopped by each day to tidy up & refresh my towels were sweet, & quick to get in & out. Complimentary breakfast consisted of scrambled eggs, sausage, bagels, oatmeal, pre-packaged gluten-free muffins, and more that I didn't make note of. Hot coffee and hot water w/a selection of teas were on hand as well. The breakfast eating area is nice & open with ample seating. There's an indoor pool and an exercise room right off the lobby that I wish I had spent some time making use of, so maybe next time. There's a little "market" (chilled displays) between the front desk and front door where you can purchase food or drinks, and that came in handy when I really needed some chilled water (the tap water tasted metallic to me). All in all it was a pleasant stay and the quiet both day/night was very welcome. read more

Decided to stay here on our way to Vegas. We came in after 10 PM but quickly got checked in. Nice room with a sitting area and a second TV. Nice and clean and quiet in the hotel. Be warned that the trains make some distant noise a few times during the night. Breakfast was as usual but there was a woman who prepped your plates. Midpoint on our road trip to Death Valley National Park, we needed a decent hotel and a clean room to sleep. This looked to have the best ratings in town. The rooms were modern and beds were comfy. We were happy with with our choice to stay here. Free breakfast with stay. An attendant served us two to-go-boxes for the road. We ordered: Hot oatmeal with all the fixings and scrambled eggs with bacon and biscuit and gravy. Along with two coffees to go! Grateful to fill our tummy's as we headed out to the national park. On our way home from Disneyland, we had to seek shelter due to the crappy weather at night. The closest Marriott was this one according to my Marriott app. Ok, cool. Decent pricing, super clean room. When we arrived we didn't have a problem checking in. Tanner was super nice. However these random hitchhikers were kind of creepy. They see me, and asks if we were heading somewhere or staying. I said staying. I told my kid to run with me to the lobby. First off it's dead at night, and you can't just randomly approach someone and ask them if you can hitch a ride, and when they say no... follow them into the hotel lobby. #creepy. Anyway, I had asked Tanner to see if it's a safe town. He assured me everything was ok. And we survived. Also another thing is our bathtub clogged. :( Would I stay here again? Probably. This is a nice, clean and modern hotel to stay at if you are spending the night in Tehachapi. It's not far from the center of town, so all the restaurants and stores in town are easily accessible. The one night we stayed here we had a good experience. The hotel is nice and the beds were comfy. I noticed the windows throughout are dirty and need to be thoroughly cleaned. The furniture is a little worn. The breakfast was a full hot breakfast served one at a time by a server. They had scrambled eggs, omelets, biscuits and gravy, muffins, cereal, oatmeal, yogurt and coffee. This is the way all hotels should be serving breakfast! Not In a bag. The location is good, right downtown Tehachapi within walking distance of stores and cafes. Across street from the old railroad station. We will stay here again. The pool was small but inside. There is a fairly big yard out the back. They don't accept pets but we're gracious about our service dog. We will stay here again. read more

Stayed for two nights. Overall, it was pretty good and I would recommend this hotel to others. Most importantly, the room was large and clean. I appreciated having no outside noises. Breakfast was fair, not great. They had a variety of options. The only downside was that both at check-in and check-out, no one was working the front desk. This hotel was great. We had a big wedding party stying there. They got most of us into our rooms early. The facility was clean and well maintained. The rooms were fantastic. Spacious and the bed slept great. Tv signal was not great. No movie channels. But hey that's nit the end of the world. The front desk young lady was so helpful and worked tirelessly to get the father of the bride into his room. Super helpful. Stayed here for 3 nights . Breakfast is from 6a - 10a but only as a to-go style. I can't speak more on the food as I didn't get the chance to have breakfast. There is no housekeeping service unless requested. The room itself is a decent size, bathroom is pretty big compare to other hotels I've been in. I will say the room I stayed in was really clean for the most part although they didn't bother to change the toilet papers with new ones. The ones I had were already used & I had to ask for new ones. When i was unpacking I noticed I forgot my toothpaste. Unfortunately when I called the front desk, she told me they don't offer toothpaste. When I wanted to make coffee in the morning I saw that there was crust inside. Maybe I'm nitpicking but when you're a nurse working 3a-5p shifts you need your coffee to survive lol. Co workers and I would book a rate and Abby the manager would change it on us when checking in. On average when working in the area we would get 15 to 20 rooms a week, since she started changing the rate we found rooms else where. Once I accidentally was trying to get on the wi-fi with my Amazon streaming box and didn't notice it was charging my room on every failed attempt, I asked the manager Abby if she could help and drop the some of the charges She told me there was nothing she would do, that it was just policy to hold me to the charges. Well welcome to Tehachapi. The Fairfield here is pretty new. And all the fixtures show it. The lobby is open and inviting with comfy chairs, and the staff was quite welcoming. The room was well roomie, and so was the bathroom. Almost enough space for a square dance. All the usual goodies were there the TV was larger than most, and everything was perfect. Myself I prefer a softer bed, my wife prefers the firmer bid. So it's different for different people. Everything work just right so you got to love that. Now off to the breakfast, I really appreciated the thin sliced ham, and scrambled eggs, and an iced cinnamon bagel, and a little butter and hot sauce to add on, follow it up with some nice cantaloupe. I stayed one night this weekend. I have to say the place is clean and quiet, seams to be well maintained. Not complains about that but their service...not much of guest services and kindness. At first, I came in at about 12:30pm on my check in day, I know it was early but my thinking was "I go check in, go do my thing and latter I come back to get my key" well I am there and there is a lady, no other guest...she was giving the her back but I know she saw me walking in...I stood there for about a minuto without her greeting me or asking me to say "may I help you?" So I have to start the conversation, so I explained my plan and she said "It's to early for you to get a key" I said "yes, understand I just want to do the check in, I will go back later. Whatever...I did. That same day I finally come back at about 9pm other lady it's there and pretty much the same kind off "what do you want" so I explained wanted to picked up my key, check in was taking care of earlier...well, pretty much had to go through the all procedure. Okay, next day check out those it's noon. At the doors the don't have (because I look for it" the "do not disturb sign" house keeping its knocking at 8am and screaming "housekeeping!" I have to say, "please come back later" she did say sorry and left. I went to the mini Pool with my kids for an hour and came back to get ready and leave...well at 10:45 housekeeping knocking again, I have to tell them I was not ready yet! But this was not enough! At 11:40 she came back again, this time I came out and told her "Isn't my check out time it's 12:00, we are getting ready, don't worry we will be out before that time, don't I still have 20 more minutes" she just looked at me but not answer a thing...I had to ask again "am I right?" She was just upset, I could tell and finally said "yes" 10 minutes later we were out of there, before the official check out but that felling that they are kicking you out! The hotel was empty I could tell because the parking lot was empty as well. And that! I did not like it! read more

We had another great stay while passing through Tehachapi traveling to Vegas. Our room had a sitting area, couch and two TVs. We even had a balcony and we were able to sleep with the window open. Beds were super comfortable, room and grounds were immaculate and the breakfast (waffles, yogurt, oatmeal, scrambled and hard boiled eggs, bagels, toast, fruit , juice coffee) was great. Also, it's right down the street from Walmart and other retail stores if you need something. This is always our choice for a hotel while passing through Tehachapi. read more

The problem here is that we walked in and promptly walked out. The owner was so vile towards her staff, and right in front of us too, that we couldn't justify giving our business to her. The outside of the hotel looked alright, and the lobby was fine. But seeing a business owner treating her staff with such cruelty is something we cannot justify with our business. Lowdown: + Check in: Bring all your belongings with you; you can access your room from the lobby. No need to head out back into the desert night! - Phone signal is dismal on the first floor. Try to get topper floors. + With AAA discount, executive suite is 113 (wo tax) and regular is 107 (wo tax). If there is more than one person, get the executive suite cause it's is pretty suh-weet! Otherwise, it is really just an extra couch, sink, and dividers. + Pharmacist discount is 93 (wo tax) VERY COOL! + Breakfast starts at 6am and ends at 9am. Fill some plates and snack if you're not checking out til later. + Breakfast itself is Fantastic! Warm toast, eggs and sausage, biscuits with gravy, make your own waffles with syrup and butter; oatmeal with brown sugar, milk for cereals, jimmy dean microwavable breakfast sandwiches, yogurt, pastries and so forth. - At one point the toilet wouldn't stop draining. It was highly annoying for about thirty minutes. And then I flushed the toilet again and it stopped. - The cleaning ladies' carts have plungers dangling from the side. I nearly walked into one on my way up from breakfast. - The heater is loud and the clock is placed in front of the bed which is very irritating for people for can't sleep with any kind of light (for regular rooms). + 5 pillows! I'm guessing that this is the "nicest" hotel in Tehachapi. And it's not bad. Standard. I was able to score this hotel on Priceline for $65 a night. I was a little disappointed only because this place has a "no pets" policy and I was hoping to bring my little baby, but whatever... it was a good deal. Place is clean, very centrally located and front desk staff is very friendly. Business center has two computers/printers and a bit of privacy and work space so that is a bonus. I really liked that coffee was available all the time in the lobby. I get up very early and that was much appreciated. Unfortunately, the coffee is terrible. They should really work on that. Breakfast is included and it looked fine, but we honestly didn't try it because I was eager to have some decent coffee so we headed to the nearby Starbucks both mornings. Free WiFi is pretty fast - you will need to sign in and out frequently, but it's still decent. Bed was comfortable. We hated the heating/AC system. It was either freezing or burning up in the room... we could not find a comfortable temperature. And the towels in the bathroom are tiny and cheap. And though the bathroom is nice and large, I would have much preferred a split lay-out with a sink outside the bathroom, because it's hard to get two women ready in the morning when there is only one sink and it's located inside the bathroom with the shower. I would absolutely stay here again. It's not a luxury or boutique hotel experience but you are not going to get that in this town. This is probably as good as it gets. The lack of staff training in regards to the Marriott Point Program is astounding. Please do your research before you commit to a room reservation with this program and get all your questions answered. The front desk staff on the day of arrival had no interest and no information to assist me in this reservation. Sad....very sad. read more

I found this Fairfield Inn to be nicer than most - it's only 3 years old. A lot of the rooms had great balconies. I loved walking out on the balcony and watching the sun set. My room was a huge suite with living area, separate bedroom, 2 TVs, microwave and frig. The bathroom was very roomy and clean. The bed was firm and comfortable and had super clean, crisp sheets. There is FANTASTIC wi-fi. I had come from a place where the wi-fi wasn't good, so I appreciate the good wi-fi here. There was also an area where you could plug in iPhone type stuff (see photos). The breakfast was larger and better than most FF Inns, in that it had scrambled eggs, some kind of meat, biscuits, as well as all the other breads, muffins, cereals, waffles, etc. They also had hard-boiled eggs. The front desk guy who checked me in was wonderful; very nice and friendly. I mention that because it is important to me. Nobody wants to be greeted by a sour-puss. Oh, the town is very, very small. The hotel is on a main road and there is a train track in front of it - that was a non-issue for me. I heard the train once when I was awake, but not during the night - and I was facing the track. There is a K-Mart within walking distance, and a couple fast-food joints. It's very convenient to the highway running east and west. Bottom line: Great place. Loved it. I am lucky; I have been travelling cross-country for the past 3 weeks and each hotel I stay in has been better than the next (except one was just so-so). I think my standards are pretty high; I don't care about frills, but the place MUST be clean, have clean carpeting, and the bathroom has to be spotless - I am fastidious in that regard. If I give a place a 5, it's because it's a 5 - not because my standards are low. read more

I go out of town way more than most. So, a good bed is hard to find, but this place did ok. The room I had was extremely nice in size and amenities. Although the gym and pool could be a bit more; it does its job. I can't complain. So, I would tell you to stop by this place. FYI, it is sad that I was the first to review this place even though it's been here for little while now. That means I'm in the middle of no where. read more
