The nearby OHV was pretty open and very challenging for a beginner dirt bike person like myself (even with years of motorcycle commute experience). Matt (I think) who opened the shop (7/6/25) was nice and helpful. Also rented a medium ATV for my gf that is a first time atv rider. She got the "Frankenstien" one which was strange at first with all the zip-tie stitching, but after some time it added character. Main thing is that it ran well. Her advice to other new atv riders is be aware your right leg will get hot from being near the exhaust pipe. Lastly, the gf and I are both motorcycle riders. She wished that she brought her own gear because the gloves and such were "icky" and some of the gloves had huge holes in them. read more

We had a great experiance renting 3 dirt bikes for myself and my 2 boys. Mark and Eric gave the boys a lesson before we took off. I rented three 90cc and two 250cc ATVs for my sons and grandkids and they all had a great time. It was so convenient to just ride out of the rental shop and have miles of terrain to ride on. I made a day camp a few miles from the shop where the boys could rest and have drinks and snacks. Since it was our first time, we had to learn the little tricks to start the bikes sometimes, but once we figured it out it went well. One of the bikes did have a wiring issue but Eric, the mechanic, went out to our camp, showed us how to handle it and even left a tool in case it happened again. Absolutely Unacceptable - DO NOT BOOK HERE If I could give zero stars, I would. We booked multiple days in advance, planned our entire trip around this reservation, and even drove TWO HOURS to get there--only for them to call us an hour before our reservation time to say they were overbooked and cancel on us. Not the day before, not with any reasonable notice--the day of, when we were already almost there. How does a business like this even function? Overbooking is one thing, but waiting until the last possible moment to inform customers is beyond irresponsible. Do they not have a system in place to prevent this? Or do they just not care? A one-hour notice when we were 20 minutes away is inexcusable. And their idea of a solution? For a group of three, they offered ONE Can-Am. Seriously? That's not a solution--that's an insult. We didn't drive two hours for them to shrug and offer us less than what we reserved. Avoid this place at all costs unless you like wasting your time and getting treated like an afterthought. Learned how to ride a motorbike for first time yesterday by ATV Rentals at Jawbone. As an experienced mountain biker, I showed up with absolutely zero street or dirt motorcycling experience. Crew (Andrew and his associate) were very friendly, knowledgeable and patient and allowed me to choose from 2 bikes my size. I selected the Honda CRF150F. Had several beginner's learning curves battles (e.g. starting and shifting gear and not stalling, etc.) and after first lap had to phone the crew for help starting (tank was full of gas). They patiently guided me through the process on my cell phone until I started the engine. It was a ton of fun and all the protective gear (DOT certified helmet, pads, chest guard, boots, gloves, etc.) was included for the price. I will definitely go back to Fun Time ATV next time I'm motorbiking in the Mojave area for rentals. Some tips: do not stray too far from your campsite especially if you are riding alone so you don't get lost too deep in the desert and potentially gets dark or run out of gas. Try to limit your speed and look around frequently for other vehicles as it can get busy on the weekends there. These motorbikes weigh ~250 lbs and they are VERY difficult to push around in the deep sand terrain in neutral. read more

Mark the starting location of the shop and other interesting geo locations for future trips. Also helps with fuel management / estimating on the fly. (Or calling mommy for a picky up). Call / book online to see availability of ATVs, UTVs, and Dirtbikes. *Experience: Have fun but ride safe, there are other off road vehicles who will be at times travelling at speed in the same or opposite directions. Please don't rent from here. Second time renting and this experience was worse than the first time! First time we rented we showed up to pick up the motorcycle, and even though they charged our credit card and took a deposit as well, they did not have a motorcycle for us. Said they overbooked and ran out! We even called the day before to make sure everything was in order! This time my cousin who was camping with us, had two quads delivered. The good news was they showed up, but the horrible news is a day later, while riding one of them, it caught on fire with someone on it and burnt to the ground! This was due to lack of Maintenance and our best guess was a fuel line started leaking, unbeknownst to us. And then the icing on the cake was at first they tried to charge us half price for the burned up one, but after arguing this they decided to not charge for that one. However, they charged us for the second one!!!!!!!. And even though that one ran okay, the whole Fiasco ruined our weekend and we were now short one quad. Not to mention the person riding the one that caught on fire could have been seriously hurt if not killed. In my opinion, an upright and good businessman would have not charged a penny for any of it and deeply apologized for what could have been a very terrible outcome. Instead the owner (I think he is the owner), Mark, stood there and somewhat argued and negotiated a price. It was my cousins who technically rented the quads so they decided to pay him. If it was me I would have not paid a penny and called my attorney! Very very disappointing and I'm still in disbelief and shocked that this company handled it the way they did! read more

I was stoked about this place. It was affordable, fun, autonomous, easy to find. but I would not go back here and strongly recommend thinking about your safety before coming here. Here's why... Our ATVs stopped working. It was getting dark, there was no service, & we were pretty far from The rental. We followed all The instructions they gave us, but we just couldn't get The ATVs to turn back on. My best friend & I were lucky. Extremely lucky. Someone drove on The dirt path just after we found ourselves stuck in The middle of nowhere with no phone service & no way back. If my bestie wasn't male, I would've been even more terrified of asking for a ride. We hitched a ride back & honestly - shit happens. We were kind & understanding, but hen we got back, they tried to blame us for getting stuck & tried to keep our deposit. I had to get on The phone with The manager & have a VERY frank conversation to get him to realize The danger we were in & agree to give us our deposit back. None of this was an ideal situation & I definitely left with a lack of trust. I wouldn't go back unless they completely overhauled their staff. read more

Awesome spot for riding the hills! My husband and I tried swinging by for our 8:30a reservation since we didn't get approved through the online system due to certain circumstances, but they were booked 'til later. So we waited and went around town until 12:30p then came back. From there, everything went smoothly for paperwork including the instructions for how to use and stuff. It was my first time to actually drive the ATV (250cc) by myself and it was fairly easy to learn and manage. The ATV wasn't new, but still very functional. It can be exhausting after several hours, but so worthwhile!! We chose to ride for 4 hours and we ended up taking some breaks at times. We were being careful so we wore long pants and brought our own goggles plus backpack for snacks and water. That definitely made our adventures easier and more fun. My husband absolutely loved every moment of it. It was like Christmas for him. Oh, the prices are really affordable too. They vary for which power you want to ride. On the positive side, it's also a good getaway from Los Angeles, which is only 1.40 hrs away. read more

After reserving a motorcycle with the owner and filling out the online form with credit card info, I showed up at 10am (which was my rental time) and the 1 guy at the shop, left me standing there for 1.5 hours while he helped larger groups of people. Then when he finally got to me, he told me that he has no reservation for me and they didn't have the motorcycle I reserved, then he gave me a beat up alternate motorcycle which was way too small for me. Having no other option, I took this beat up backup bike, with breaks that didn't work and the chain popped off twice while I was riding it. Very dangerous, not well maintained equipment and when I texted her owner to complain, he ghosted my, returned the bike early and left. Was supposed to ride with a group of people but it took so long to get my (backup bike) that the group left without me. Ruined my weekend. Renting was super quick and easy, Matt was great! This place is right off the highway, you can't miss it and then we just drove right off the rental site and into the canyon. Protective gear comes with your rental. No guided tours but Matt was happy to send us off with some guidance on a cool loop back to the rental spot. If you're not used to riding I'd recommend the 4 hour rental it was just the right amount of time. Following the loop directions we missed the first turn because we didn't realize the signs were super tiny but once you find that out it was simple enough. Definitely recommend bringing a map. Like a real paper one because if you get lost there's no phone signal. Do not rely on your phone. If you've never been on an ATV 4 wheel I'd also recommend going with someone who has incase you get stuck they can kinda help you out. I'd definitely go back. read more
