If I had known better, I would've thought this was a Courtyard. This hotel looked really nice and updated, inside and out. My room had plenty of space with a microwave, refrigerator and a big bathroom. Not to mention, they offer free breakfast buffet! They offer make-your-own waffles, a variety of cereal, pastries and some hot food items (eggs, sausage, etc.). The afternoon front desk manager "Abigail" is rude with a snobby attitude, detained me for 20mins+ checking out on a Friday. I only stood in the hotel for about 2-3 hours as I needed to rest a little since I was driving back to LOS ANGELES. She has some Asian front desk lady check the room and said it was ok, then Abigail felt it was necessary for her to check the room as well. I'm extremely upset as how the "manager" treated me. The room was nice but her customer service was terrible . Snobby attitude. Who detains a paying customer for 20 mins + on checking out ?! . Crazy!!!!! I'm extremely PISSED OFF. My little home away from home when I'm up here visiting for my job. Office staff are efficient and super nice. Check in is quick and they work to find you discounts. Rooms are always spotless and since I have very sensitive skin, they use a good laundry detergent that doesn't aggravate my skin. I appreciate the suite with the desk for late-night emailing and the separate couch and tv for relaxing before bedtime. Breakfast is always yummy and each morning there's a different selection of hot items. Coffee's good too, Parking lot is large and well-lit. I always feel safe here. My only minor complaint is the wi-if signal is low. If you're on the lower floors or on the end with the lower room numbers, you might not get a signal at all. I suggest adding another hot spot for the bottom and other side of the hotel. read more

I hesitate to leave a truly bad review since it's not really the hotel's fault, but do be aware that you may not want to stay here if sleep is a high priority for you. We came here as our second visit, however, this visit was truly sad. Today is National Autism Awareness Day and like many children with autism my son LOvES trains! We scheduled this hotel months ago and requested a room with a view of the trains. "Shouldn't be a problem" they said. "Call is the morning of to double check" the lady said. We called this morning.... "shouldn't be a problem" they said. Well here is our view. "Sorry we don't guarantee," they said. Then why not call us or give us false hope? Very nice and clean room, and very accommodating staff. Free Wi-Fi!! Only stayed one night, but my companion who has very high standards enjoyed her stay, and that matters to me the most. She's happy, I'm happy. I'm a simple guy, but I really liked the variety of the Continental breakfast. Our grand daughter WAS going to be the flower girl. Unfortunately because of a serious health issue that was life threatening and required hospitalization for one in our extended family, we could not arrive on Friday as scheduled, WE CALLED !!!! the fairfield inn and explained our situation and that we may not be able to arrive on Friday until "very late" and asked if 11:00PM or 12:00 midnight check in would be possible? They replied "Yes someone is on duty at that time" we were relieved but also said that we may not even be able to arrive until Saturday sometime. They said that , that would be fine but we would still be charged for the Friday that we had booked. We said we understood and that would be fine. We were not able to make Friday night after all but arrived Saturday a little after 12:00 noon the young woman at the front desk informed us that because we didn't arrive on Friday as scheduled our reservation was canceled. We explained that we had called and she replied "well who ever you spoke to (we didn't get a name) entered it on there system as a "No Show" and that they were completely booked , nothing she could do. We asked how could this happen?' AGAIN WE CALLED, Her reply "sorry, nothing I can do" We asked if we could talk to a manger? said no mangers on duty until Monday. We were pressed for time, as I said our grand daughter was the flower girl in the wedding and asked the young woman if she could call another hotel in the area for us to see if any rooms might be available? She said "I work for Marriot not other hotels " I asked for her name? She refused to give us her name and and when we tried to take her picture with our cell phone she tried to hide her face told us that taking her picture was illegal and asked us to leave the hotel. We left, we need to try and find a room! I called the hotel days later to speak to a manger, I was asked it it was related to this incident? (same girl had answered the phone) I replied that it was. Moments later a manager picked up the call, She listened quietly, I told her that I didn't think that I should be charged for Friday given the terrible inconvenience they caused us and the EXTRA COST of getting a room on late notice. She said she understood but the Friday charge stands, but she wouldn't charge us for Saturday. How nice, seeing as they had booked it to someone else. This has been where we've stayed when we are in T-Town. Last year I stayed (minus Hubby who was coaching at home.) I shared a suite with his HS girlfriend...I know, NOT everyone can fathom that, but I get along with MOST people very well (and T-Town locals are FUN FUN FUN!) The room was VERY nice, perfect for us! We were close to ALL the local spots, and within walking distance the homes of friends that remain local. Guest services were impeccable! The beds were SUPER comfortable, with fine linens. Nice sitting area completely separate from the bedroom area, and the bathroom was HUGE! Will be returning in August, and of COURSE this will be our first pick! read more

Stayed in a two room suite last week... The good; Large, clean rooms with a balcony. 2 TVs with lots of channels (some digital!) Nice, albeit, small gym with new equipment Indoor pool stays open late! Only stayed for one night. Easy and quick check in. Requested a bottom floor not by elevators. They were able to accommodate my request. Front desk clerk mentioned the free breakfast from 7am to 10am but I did not take advantage of it as my family preferred Starbucks. Room was very clean and looked to be brand new. Loved the layout. Unfortunately, online you may be registering for a two bedroom suite, but reality is this location doesn't have it. Keeping that in mind, the facilities are very nice and still brand new. There is a indoor swimming pool which was nicely heated, thus we were able to swim despite the cold weather outside. The fitness room is small, however all the treadmills have their own personal flat screen tv's which was really nice :). Buffet breakfast is included with great options and very nice dining area. If it weren't for the discrepancy in what the online version of theorem stated versus what the hotel actually had, I would have given it five stars :) read more

This hotel uses extreme and toxic chemicals to clean their sheets and towels. It is so bad I wake up smelling bleach in the middle of the night and itching all over. I am not sensitive generally. If you think you will just go to another hotel in Tehachapi, good luck; you are stuck as they all use the same chemicals and they are all owned by the same person (I've tried each one due to travel for work in a vain attempt to escape this very issue). The manager, Abigail, informed me their cleaning levels used are "standard." Absolutely not. I have traveled the world and never experienced anything like this, even in third world countries. I stayed at this hotel for three nights on business. It is a very nice 3-Star property, which earns a 4-Star Yelp rating because it delivers everything a traveler would expect from this type of hotel. Clean, well appointed, good breakfast, workout room and friendly staff. The downside is location (try the back of the property if trains bother you) and the dirty windows (that bothered me). This was without a doubt the absolute worst experience I have ever stayed out of thousands of Marriott stays, the staff is the worst, they will not wear facemasks, they do not clean the rooms, and I complained about this and they literally told me I couldn't stay there anymore. They do not honor any elite benefits at all, they are unprofessional and need to be fired. But I made a mistake when I made the reservation which was corrected during check-in, and the reduced rate was not offered because it was no longer available. Absolutely the worst customer service I've ever encountered! I travel frequently for work and stay almost exclusively at Marriott and Fairfield properties. Usually staff at these locations are friendly and helpful when I need to change bookings. This time I was met with nothing but roadblocks and the line that "all changes need to be done through the booking agency". That's never been the case before. When I called the booking agency and told them of the issue, I was told that all changes to bookings once you've checked in needed to taken care of at the front desk of the property (as I've done in the past). The front desk staff and shift manager were unwilling to do anything other than repeat that they couldn't do anything about it. Funny thing is that I was traveling with two colleagues who booked through the same agency who also needed to change their bookings and the front desk had no issues with changing their bookings (different staff than I dealt with I should add). Utterly frustrating dealing with staff that don't know how to handle changes. Even more frustrating that the shift manger was not able (even seemed unwilling) to try and find a solution. Good thing there are other properties just as nice in the area. read more

We stopped here on our move from Seattle to Phoenix. The town is adorable! The hotel was nice enough. Our room had an odd smell (like mildew mixed with deodorant and BO...). We opened the sliding door to the balcony while we went to dinner, and it was mostly cleared out when we got back. The staff was very friendly and helpful. My favorite part was how friendly all the guests were! We are Arizonans and found the Seattle freeze quite annoying. Stopping here and chatting the the other occupants made us feel like were finally getting close to home. We did have a U-Haul (26'!) towing a car, and of all the gas stations and all the hotels across 1600 miles, this was the only place we had trouble. It wasn't until after we got it stuck (what turned out to be only a 30 minute ordeal thanks to a friendly fellow traveler) that they told us street parking was available for large vehicles. I understand they couldn't possibly have told us this as we drove into town, but maybe a sign indicating street parking is available would have been nice? Overall, it was a pretty decent last night's stay on a loooooong trip. read more

We arrived here around 8:30p on a Friday and were able to get a room without a problem. We called about an hour prior to our arrival to check availability and the person on the the phone was extremely friendly and made the reservation with ease. Upon arrival the hotel looked pleasant and the lobby clean and decorated for Christmas. It was inviting and to my wife's standards (this is important...she is not a motel 6 girl). They have an indoor pool and spa which is nice and it is open till midnight. Next door to the pool is a 24h gym with a few treadmills and weights. Everything was clean and taken care of. Now for the slight issue...Our room was on the 3rd floor, room 317. When we arrived to our room, the room was done nicely, 2 tv's, small office area and separate sleeping area. The problem was the room had an initial smell of what seemed to be cat pee. It was hard to tell. We opened the door and let the room air a bit before we decide to complain. My wife made the suggestion we go down to the hot tub for a bit and if we came back and the room still smelled then we would request another room. Well when we came back the room was fine, so I guess it was just a musty smell. Another thing that may bug some people is that the front of the hotel faces a pretty active rail line. It's a ways away but you can still hear the freight trains rumble by if your door and windows are closed. You can request a room not facing the tracks if this is a concern, the trains go throughout the night. Did my bother me, I'm a train buff. In the morning they surved a small breakfast of eggs, vegie sasuage, ham, waffles , fruit and cereal. Surved coffee, milk, apple and orrange juice to drink. It was decent and the eating area was kept clean. All said, it was a pleasant stay. If I needed to come back I would stay here again. read more

We stopped in Tehachapi twice on our way to and from AZ and stayed here. Very comfortable beds, fast wi-fi, great hot breakfast the next morning! There is an enclosed yard lined with trees and a gazebo for walking around or relaxing during warm evenings. The hotel is also close to town and accessible to the freeway. What we always want is a well-ordered room, comfortable beds, a hot shower, free wifi as part of the package and a nice hot breakfast to get us out of bed in the morning. Fairfield Inn & Suites is an almost guaranteed property to offer all the above. And the Fairfield in Tahachapi CA is a credit to the franchise. It was an excellent value. The room was spacious and well laid out. The Breakfast area is well appointed, clean and the food, though standard items, was nicely prepared and set up in a logical manner. Let me go into detail with why the review is so low. The hotel itself is nice and spacious. The facilities look clean and orderly. I removed 1 star because of the processes in place during covid that are inconvenient for travelers. To get toilet paper and towels you have to go downstairs and get them because if you are staying here for multiple days, I guess they don't clean the room so you have to get those supplies yourself. Strange. Another inconvenience is that the indoor pool is closed. I thought chlorine would kill germs better than lysol, but apparently not. Those things I reduced the rating 1 star. The next item I reduced it by 2 stars. During covid the hotel is providing a to-go bagged breakfast with a sausage egg biscuit, granola bar, and a water. I go back to my room and heat the biscuit up and am about to eat it when I see mold on the egg. Gross! So on my way out I stop by the front desk and show the woman the biscuit and she apologizes. I ask if there is something to replace my meal and she tells me about getting something from the bakery. I'm thinking the hotel has a bakery on site, but after looking and finding nothing I go back to her. She says no there is no bakery, but that I can go to the restaurant bakery down the street. Again, I ask about the replacement meal, and she offers me a discount on my food purchase. Unbelievable! So the breakdown is 1 star for the moldy food, and 1 star for the customer service afterwards. Later I call and talk to the manager Abigail, and she was great. Apologized for the food, told me she would review the expiration dates on the food, and also talk to the staff to let them know what they can do to handle the situation better next time. I still had to write the review though because I would want a heads up to check the food I'm eating. At the time I was there, there were tons of different utility crews there, and those guys are in a rush. I doubt they are looking at the food while scarfing it down. Karina is amazing, she saved our trip. We where stranded after the heavy snow at Tehachapi visiting family. She went over and beyond customer service. It wasn't a perfect stay there, our refrigerator was not working, power went off for 3 hrs on our first night and no one knows when it will be back. We didn't actually had a great sleep that night but it's beyond Karina's control. She tried to help our stay as good as she can especially when we needed to extend our stay one more night. We where told we need to check out at 12 and stay in the lobby until3pm to check in again..... that is not a great idea for us especially we have a baby with us. Karina made sure this doesn't happened, instead she find a room for us b4 12 and doesn't need to dry in the lobby. For that we appreciate you Karina. Thank you and thank u for teaching Young, looks like she is new too. I just hope there is a room service tho. read more
