Came here on a whim bc we saw the billboard on our way in from vegas. I love fresh pies. I found the place on Google Maps and it took it into a neighborhood. The parking lot is small but you can also park on the street. It was very busy inside so I thought that was a good sign. They had several sweet and savory pies available along with jams, teas and other random items for sale. We ended up getting a French apple pie and a coconut cream pie since it's my MIL's fave and we were driving into SoCal to celebrate her bday. Fast forward to the eating of the pies- they were meh. We had my mil's pie after dinner- stuck candles in it and everything but it did not hit the spot like I imagined. Later that evening my kids wanted to eat the French apple pie and yikes, I have never seen them take a bite of a pie and not finish it. It wasn't sweet at all! It even had a crumble topping- which are normally sugar-filled. Idk, maybe these pies are for people who don't like sweet pies? I had to check their yelp to see what others said and yep, their pies don't seem to be made with much sugar. The crust is thin and pale. I was unsure if we were supposed to bake it ourselves? I ended up baking it and it didn't improve it much. I wanted to love it esp since I spent about 45 bucks on two pies.

Always delicious pies! I bought a strawberry rhubarb and it didn't disappoint. I don't live in town but whenever I'm out here I'm sure to stop by. They also have meals you can buy I haven't had any since Covid times but they were delicious. The people there are also very friendly.

I am bumping up my review. Said I would come back and I did. The service stellar. The selection amazing. Prices high. The coconut cream pie delicious! Bought a sf apple pie for my hubby and he thought it was ok but no sweetness at all I wasn't a fan but I am not the demographic.

Berry Cheesecake

Cheesecake only review. I hate to leave such a bad review, because I love little shops like this. However, my experience with the cheesecake that I purchased was so below my expectations, that I wanted to pass this review along so that someone didn't make the mistake I did. I had heard a lot of good things about their pies and that was my original intention was to buy a pie. However, when I got there, they had some beautiful photos of cheesecakes and decided to get three slices. I purchased a slice of Oreo, Berry, and Peanut Butter. They were very small slices of cheesecake and $10 each, which seemed to be quite a lot, but I figured that they must be really exceptional and was willing to pay the price. All three of the slices had some level of freezer burn along the edges and the Berry had such bad freezer burn that it was basically inedible. I should've stuck with my original plan and got only pies.

Wow! I wish I could've tried every single piece of pie! You can buy whole pies or buy the slice. There's only one thing that would've made my pie better and that's if I could've heated it up. I didn't ask if they could because I was in a hurry. Absolutely scrumptious pie. I purchased two bottles of their balsamic vinegar. One bottle of blueberry for spring and summer salad and a Vermont maple to go with my spinach salads with bacon and pecans. As you walk in it feels like you've just arrived at a party. Lots of pre-gift wrapped items in pretty colored cellophane and ribbons. Wonderful. Very attentive service. Street parking.

I go here every Friday to bring the family pies and other goodies. This place is always stocked up and always ready to go when I get there. I try to get there early Friday because most of the things I like are gone. Here are a few of my favorites The cherry pie, pecan pie, berry pie, the berry pie with blueberries, the strawberry pie, the peach pie, the apple pie, and the chicken pot pie. All of those are my favorites, and I've yet to cover the spectrum of what they have in the store. They have fudge they have jellies jams candies and more. It's definitely a reason to stop on the way to Vegas if you're passing through Tehachapi.

This place has a lot of cute gift packs and snack items. Small but filled area. A little pricey. Cuteness galore. No one greeted us or asked if we needed help with anything and we were in the store for about 10 minutes. Poor customer service.

Tuesday, March 10th, we traveled to Bakersfield to pick up a vehicle I had purchased, and of course had to stop by Kohnen's. My wife and I split a Tuna and Cheddar Panini, and a loaded Turkey (we arrived too late for Sourdough!!). It is difficult to walk away without a mini-pie (try them all, but blackberry is freaking amazing!!). As always, Danelle was there with her typical congeniality and work ethic! We love her!! And I got to tell her about her doppelgänger in a restaurant in Yucaipa!! They do exist!! In summary, eat at Kohnen's!! Say hi to Danelle!

I only purchased two items -- one cream puff and one slice of cheesecake -- but the cashier charged my card THREE times due to repeated mistakes. Here's exactly what happened: 1) My first card (Card A) was charged $11.20. The cashier asked me if I wanted a receipt, and I said yes. Then she told me the receipt didn't come out because the transaction "didn't go through," and asked me to provide my card again. 2) I gave the same card again, and this time she charged $11.69. 3) Then again, she told me that it didn't go through, so I used a different debit card (Card B), which was charged $11.20. While sitting at the table with my family, I immediately checked my bank account and thought I had only been charged twice. I spoke to a staff member at the store and requested a refund for one of the $11.20 charges, which was processed. However, today I realized I had actually been charged three times, meaning there was still another $11.20 that needed to be refunded. So I called the bakery and asked to speak with a manager. I spoke with someone named Danielle. I calmly explained the entire situation and told her I would send all my receipts and bank transaction records by email so they could double-check and confirm everything. She said ok and gave me their email address, but it was very long, and I was concerned about making a mistake while writing it down. So I politely asked if she could text me the email address instead. Her response was extremely rude -- she said, "I'm not required to do that," and told me to just write it down myself if I had a pen and paper. Although I was already uncomfortable with her attitude, I carefully wrote it down and sent the email. However, the email bounced back as invalid, even though I had confirmed the spelling with her multiple times over the phone. When I called again, Danielle answered and said, "Ma'am," in a very dismissive tone, and told me that they had found the three charges and had already processed refunds for both $11.20 transactions. I tried to confirm which card the refund was going to, since I used two different cards, but after putting me on hold for a long time, she read off a card number that was not mine. When I told her that wasn't my card, she insisted those were the only transactions for $11.20 yesterday and told me to "check my bank in a few days" and call back if the refund doesn't show up. And, she didn't apologize for the mistake, even though they charged my cards three times and wasted a significant amount of my time. Even yesterday, when I asked for an apology, I only received one reluctantly after I pointed out that they had made a mistake -- and even then, the response was dismissive, as if I should just accept it because they were "taking care of it." The attitude throughout this entire situation was rude, unprofessional, and extremely frustrating. The cheesecake was very good. But because of this experience, I would never come back. We drove all the way from Los Angeles to Tehachapi with my family, expecting a pleasant visit, but this bakery completely ruined the day. Being charged a total of $34.09 for just two small items due to repeated errors is unacceptable. If your staff cannot properly process payments, they should not be working as cashiers. Situations like this should never happen. What's even worse is that after making multiple mistakes, there was not a single sincere apology -- only attitude, dismissiveness, and instructions for me to keep checking my bank and call back again. My time is valuable. This entire situation could have been avoided if things were handled properly from the beginning. This was an extremely unpleasant experience, and I am very disappointed. Cf) For reference, the other $16.05 receipt is for bread that my brother purchased.

We were there on a Sunday afternoon and the Sunday afternoon knitting club was there knitting and pearling away while they sipped delicious coffee and ate delicacies from the baked goods. We were there for the delicious turkey ciabatta sandwich. The bread is toasted and it just makes the turkey spinach and tomato covered with melted provolone so much more tasty I chatted a while with members of the knitting club while we waited for our sandwich. They're there every Sunday and they knit for people that have cancer who need hats to stay warm. It's a great community up here in Tehachapi. I was impressed with it several years ago when we held a dance recital here this coffee shop seems to be sort of a club of community activity. The only downside is it does take a while to get your order because they're busy, but that sandwich was worth waiting for, and it made the miles from Tehachapi to Mojave speed by

The menu is great and the coffee is even more delicious. I have to say it's in my top two coffee places in kern county. I went with a Americano which was great! It had a smooth mellow flavor and not bitter at all. My wife went with a vanilla latte with Espresso whip cream made in house, she loved it. My daughter had a "Love Potion" sparkling dragon fruit lemonade which she loved as well. They offer food and pastries and the selection is abundant. With all my health things going on the two surgeries, the cancer, all I could think of was the crispy chicken strips. I miss them in the last couple months. It sounds silly, but couldn't wait to get them, so I called and I spoke to Cherie. I think she may be the manager of that department. I told her the situation probably more than she needed to know, but I was telling her I wanted to order them so they'd be fresh when my daughter picked them up. Cherie had nothing but the most wonderful, comforting words that she could say to me. She honestly made me feel like she really cared. When my daughter picked up the chicken strips for me, there was the sweetest note written on the bag. This is a perfect example of going above and beyond and making customers feel cared about. I admit I'm very emotional at this time in my life, and I read that and started crying. What may have seem like a small gesture on her part actually was huge in my world. I can't wait until I can drive again and I am healed so I can personally go in and thank her. I did call her, and I also called corporate office to tell them about the note and how she made me feel. Cherie, thank you! This is why I will continue to shop here. 4/30/26
