I came to Santa Carne with my boyfriend--we were staying at a nearby hotel and thought this would be a great spot for dinner. We were right! Very friendly servers (even when your preferred language is English) & delicious food. There were plenty of other patrons, but we were able to grab a table without a reservation. Very welcoming experience overall. We started with empanadas which we were so, so good. 100% try those if you come by--I really enjoyed the spinach one. We arrived late into Paris and were starving! After a week of pasta and pizza in Italy, we needed a switch, and Santa Carne was nearest our hotel. As soon as we arrived around 10 PM, we knew they closed at 11 PM, but they sat us down right away. They immediately asked our drink order and served us quickly. My wife got the margarita and I took the beer, then ordered a Oaxaca, and all were really good. As far as appetizers, we went with the beef empanadas and shrimp, which were amazing. In fact, we ordered another order of empanadas because they were sooo good! They provided bread, which was soft and delicious For our entrees, I went with the ribeye steak and my wife and son ordered the lomo while my daughter got the chicken. We went for the potatoes instead of the vegetables, which was a good choice for us considering we were so hungry. Everything was amazing, the steak was cooked exactly how we wanted it and we cannot wait to return. As far as pricing, it's an Argentina steakhouse so we knew going in what we were looking to pay, which was good for us considering the value and uniqueness of the food. Visited Paris during peak season with my mom and sister. The restaurant accommodated us at the last minute with a call 30 minutes before dinner. Upon arrival, there was no wait time and they offered various seating options. The staff was super friendly and communicated with us in Spanish (we are fluent). The meat and potatoes were perfectly seasoned. The drinks were refreshing. The empanadas were the best I've tasted (I've had my fair share of Argentine empanadas). Holy cow Batman! This restaurant has some of the best steaks that I've ever had.....anywhere in the world! The place is romantic, with friendly, competent, multilingual staff and the food is absolutely outstanding! While visiting Paris I initially had reservations to have my birthday dinner at another steakhouse but with lost luggage I never made that reservation and just came here the next day(on Monday, for some reason a lot of restaurants were closed on Monday) I'm glad I did though because the food was delicious! I ordered the ribeye that came with potatoes and a salad. The ribeye was cooked perfectly, very juicy, but could have used a little salt. The potatoes were amazingly delicious and the salad was also tasty. For appetizers we had the garlic shrimp and beef and chicken empanadas. The garlic shrimp was awesome and I preferred the beef over the chicken empanada. I forgot the name of my drink but I enjoyed it as well. Great dinner, great service. read more

This updated review is to mention this evening's experience that led me to lower my rating from my previous review: The head waiter on this Monday evening was a muscular Argentinean who was off his game. It started when he forgot our cocktails until we were well into our steaks. My family friend and I were enjoying our dinner when we couldn't help see that there was an issue at the table next to us. Apparently an older lady who was dining by herself could not pay for her dinner because her credit card did not work. As she tried to explain that she had already maxed out her daily ATM withdrawals in broken French, I decided to see if I could help. She had 40 of the 45€ check in cash and was 5€ short. I paid for her and she thanked me profusely and left hurriedly, fully embarrassed by the situation. After out delightful rib eye steaks (25€ each), late cocktails (10€ each), and shared dulce de leche dessert (10€) it was our turn to pay. Our total bill was 80€. When I gave the head waiter my old swipe card, he tried to put it in the chip area. I said no, you have to swipe it. He was dumbfounded. I had to take the machine from him and show him how. He was awestruck and I think starting to put two and two together. So there are several problems with this picture or maybe I am seeing things wrong in which case please contact me: 1. The waiter embarrassed a customer due to his incompetence / familiarity with the one thing that is the bread and butter of his business (credit cards). 2. Allowed another customer to pay for another client instead of taking the 5€ loss which I don't think any classy restaurateur would do. read more

Holy Meat! My mother and I dined here in April 2018 when we spent a 10 day vacation in Paris together. I chose it based on its good reviews and relatively close proximity to our b&b rental in the Marais district, and when we eventually found it (mapping apps can be a bit deceitful in this area), I was not disappointed by the atmosphere and decor because it toes the line of a funky art vibe without being too granola about it. The staff was cool in that Parisian-we-dont-work-for-tips-but-we-do-take-our-jobs-seriously kind of way, and many of them were multilingual, as I overheard at least a few speaking in French, Spanish, and English throughout the course of our dinner. Our dinner, by the way, was magic. Neither my mother nor I fear the big meaty steaks, so we both indulged in our own. (That was after the shrimp luxuriating in spices and drawn butter and fried cheese as an appetizer.) The steaks came paired with some sweet potato mash and a small salad, but the real Oscar-winning supporting act was the SAUCES! Three little pots of sauces--one an herb and oil based (chimichurri), one like an aioli, and a third more of a vinegary tomato based (do *not* mistake it for ketchup). I washed mine down with red wine, because OF COURSE I DID. It was a deliciously indulgent meal and a lovely experience. Highly recommend to anyone visiting or living in Paris! read more

When the chef of the Black Dog started his own restaurant, we definitely had to try it and I am glad we did as it surpasses it. The restaurant is located near Bastille so not hard to get to and is decoded quite nice. The staff is friendly and helpful as well. Now on to the food. There hasn't been anything I tried there that I didn't like. There are some nice starters, and my favorite there being the fried provolone cheese with honey. But in the end the main attraction is the meat and you can't go wrong with any choice but the lomo is still my favorite. The deserts are good too, with the classic Black Orgasm from the Black Dog making an appearance as well. In the end, I would strongly recommended Santa Carne to anyone looking for some great food. read more

This is not the place you want to go for your birthday unless you want to be disappointed. Even if your hotel concierge makes a reservation, they'll place you in the bar area because it's not their policy to actually reserve a good table. If you want a really good dinner that is expensive then you're in the right place. If you want it to be special... they don't care! Even when I called it to their attention we had reservations she said it was not her fault, she'd offered us a three seating in a pass through as a big give. I sat in my black formal dress watching the cook fry up the steak like at a walk up beach bar. Go here in your jeans and a sweatshirt not a suit or dress. This place was YUMMY!!!!! We stumbled upon this place and we're definitely happy that we did. We ordered a bottle of Chardonnay and it was one of the best I've ever had. My husband ordered the Chef's selection which featured three different types of steak, salad and potatoes. They also give you three different sauces to go with the steak. They were exquisite; all three of them equally. My husband ordered his steak medium well but it came back medium rare and he had to ask to have it sent back which they were great about. I ordered the empanadas, chicken, spinach and beef. The chicken was not too great but still edible but the spinach and beef ones were excellent. The waiter wasn't great with English but he made due and it was awesome service. The place is small and quaint but the price tag is large lol! $100 for our plates and wine. I went here for my birthday and I loved the atmosphere. We were seated right by the steak chef, the appetizers were delicious. I had the scrimp which was drenched in a butter sauce. My husband had the veal. It was tender, and I would just go back for that alone. Steaks are very high quality beef although we thought it was very salty. Mine was more than his. Definitely going back, but would ask to go easy on the seasoning if that's even an option. Served with 3 delicious sauces, but it's really not needed because the steak alone has great flavor. Yes, Santa Carne means Saint Meat. I liked this place so much I went back, and I have to update the review to 5 stars. The last time, I found happiness through the 20-euro faux fillet, but this time I found deep and lasting bliss through the 28-euro lomo. Mmm... steak. This place may be my new favorite steak in Paris. Try the roquefort or morel sauce. The mate flan was outstanding, especially with dulce de leche. -- Yes, I love steak, and I loved the steak we had here. The faux filet was particularly well seasoned and cooked. They served the steaks with a choice of side dishes -- the sweet potatoes were executed perfectly, and the salad was more than just lettuce. The Latin-American-inspired desserts were delicious and not too heavy even after a big steak dinner. The high point of the evening was after midnight when the chef came out of the kitchen and started mingling with the diners.
