This restaurant is a total tourist click bait. Social media made me shortlist this place while in Paris and I totally regretted wasting nearly 3 hours of my time. The wait time was over 90 minutes before we got a table on the outside. The tables are cramped and wobbly. The steak was chewy and the special sauce was nothing to rave about. The house wine was the only saving grace. The cost to dine here is exhorbidant when comparing it to the poor quality of food and experience. Please save your time and money to experience some great options in Paris. Give this place a pass.
This is the best restaurant we went to in Paris. They only have one item on the menu served with a salad. Great salad dressing but the steak and fries which you get two rounds of for 30 euros. That's a steal! Take me back but be prepared to wait for over an hour unless you get there just before they open. Excellent service and busy restaurant!
I redo my review. My wife went and SHE waited. (She called when it was time.) About half the people are irritated as they leave here. As I was the first time. But you know what? I am changing my mind by 2 stars. Its a gimmick but I enjoyed it. Sitting outside in Paris with a thin little piece of steak with a very nice sauce with some french fries soaking up all of the (everything) is not a bad way to spend a night. Oui?
Ok, it's good. We get it. Democratically wait on a line like everyone else. Get your mustard-dressed walnut salad, get your sirloin steak drenched in their curry chimichurri, get your fresh fries. If you're indulgent and want more, you can have some more. Figure out a desert. Pay the bill (no Amex), and try and squeeze out of the table with a few centimeters between you and your fellow diners. Choices for temp on the steak are rare, medium, or well done. If you like medium rare, just go for rare - it brings out a beefier taste. Service is super pleasant, the hardened pros these ladies are, who know their role in keeping everyone moving along, with a charming smile. I actually really enjoyed the efficient process of this meal, despite how paradoxical it seems for a dining experience. Oh, and lots of happy birthdays - felt like Lugers on a Saturday night, but with female servers - and it was a Thursday night.
You will wait in a very long line, and it will be worth it. After waiting an hour for a table on a Sunday night, I was very pleased with the food, the service, and the atmosphere in the restaurant. And the price (29 euros) is pretty great! Once you're finally inside, the staff is super nice and efficient (it helps having only a few things on the menu), and the salad is very refreshing after waiting so long to eat. The house red wine is very good, too. The steak comes rare, medium, or well done. If you usually go for medium-rare like I do, I recommend going rare. It was perfectly pink on the inside but still had a good bite. The steak is excellent, and the sauce is to die for. And the French fries? Out of this world. It may seem a little gimmicky that they refill your plate, but you'll be so happy with how good the food is, it doesn't matter. I used the fries to scrape the plate clean. I was sadly too stuffed to try the dessert, but it looked fantastic. Definitely recommend getting to the restaurant before they open and waiting out the line -- the steak and fries are more than worth it!
I can see why this place is very popular and always busy! We had to wait outside for over an hour for dinner. There isn't much covering for those waiting in line, so we were lucky that it wasn't hot, but unfortunately it was raining (although we did have umbrellas). The restaurant is also super crowded, so just be aware that you might need to be careful moving around. The food was really delicious! The fries were freshly fried and warmed up on the side after being fried. The sauce for the steak was so good too. To me it tasted like there was some curry or cumin powder, but other family members disagreed, so not entirely sure. I don't remember what they said was the suggested/original way to order the steak but it was so tender and juicy. They do a refill of your steak and fries too after you've eaten it, which is a huge plus in my opinion. The desserts looked really good too but I didn't get to try any.
Come early, come hungry! You'll see a zillion Instagram reels about this place and the hype is real! We arrived at opening (18:30) on Sunday evening and the line was around the corner. There is no seating in line other than the curb or a few window sills so wear comfortable shoes. We were seated around 20:00 and the meal was worth the wait. Wine is offered by the bottle or the glass. The salad is has a mustard based dressing which was flavorful but not overpowering. The star of the dinner is the steak and frites. You will receive up to two servings of each. For the steak you may choose rare, medium, or well. The sauce is the hit as it adds tremendous flavor to the already tender steak. Save some room for dessert. The chocolate profiteroles were similar to mini-eclairs with their decadent chocolate and cream filling. The interior has a bar showing their wines and desserts. Waitresses wear classic black dresses with white aprons. About the only negative is the wait - unless you show up well before opening you could easily wait 90-120 minutes for a table. You'll also be directed to your table so you have a low probability of outdoor seating (our table was at an open slider, adjacent to the sidewalk). If you hope to do anything after dinner (even just see the Eiffel Tower lit up and sparkle), come early. We arrived at 18:30, sat at 20:00, and left after 21:30. But the meal and the experience were well worth the time!
It is completely worth the wait. We waited about 90 Minutes for our table and the line was around the corner. But they move people through pretty quickly! I can't describe the wine. It was a white but it wasn't sweet or dry. Very neutral. Is that a thing with wine? So you start with a salad with a mustard tasting dressing? It wasn't my cup of tea, but Mr S loved it. The meal itself is steak with a green chimichuri sauce and frittes (French fries for the US). They were hot and tasty right out of the oven and so good. You get 1 refill of the steak and frittes. Had I been offered more I probably would have eaten it and then had a tummy ache later, so it's good they stopped. Dessert is extra and it was really good! Kind of ice cream in a pastry and with chocolate sauce. Overall ,well worth the wait!!
This was the first restaurant my wife and I stopped at when we landed in Paris because of the recommendations from our friends. Granted, we waited for about an hour and a half, and it was definitely worth the wait! Once we were seated, we were provided with great hospitality service from the waitress. It's funny because the first thing they ask is how would you like your steak because they only know tourists are coming here for the steak or I also think that's all they serve lol. The meat was really soft and tender, and the sauce paired with it was amazing along with their fries. You might not know this, but if you stick around long enough, they will give you a second serving for free! We really enjoyed our night and our first dinner. We literally sat here for about an hour and a half to two and really enjoyed the meal. Service is amazing and we really enjoyed their desserts. The sorbet and the caramel Brulé is a must!
When a restaurant only has one main dish on the menu, it'd better be good! I had heard of this place but on our last day, we actually just stumbled upon this restaurant because it wasn't far from us around lunchtime. We arrived around shortly after 12:00pm and there was already a line around the corner, and folks being seated inside. We didn't wait long to be seated. Come early for lunch around noon, or come at 5:30pm for dinner right when they open back up for service! At the time it was about 29 euros per person, and although I only got one refill, I hear you get up to 2 refills (they will come around and fill up your plate with steak and frites and that yummy green sauce. You also get a serving of green salad before the main meal. I requested rare (usually medium rare but they only do rare or medium) and it was perfection. Sit outside if the weather permits, this location has a great outdoor seating set up.
Coming here is like a rite of passage. I heard about this spot last year when we dined at Le Globe - which is a seafood restaurant located across the street from the OTHER Le Relais location. Hubby and I got here around 12:30pm on a Friday. They are open for lunch from 12-2:30pm weekdays at this location. The restaurant is packed, very busy. Our waitress asked us what we wanted to drink and how we liked our steak cooked - rare, medium or well done. There were about 40+ people in line ahead of us. We waited about 30-40 minutes before we were seated. It's funny that the time we spent in line is about the same time it takes to eat! We ordered 2 glasses of wine and a bottle of water (in hindsight, we could have asked for tap water), plus the main steak entree which automatically comes with bread, salad and fries. *our waitress confirmed the secret sauce on the steak was gluten free! ** Overall, a fun and fulfilling experience! Come for lunch if you can so you don't wait too long. I absolutely loved the secret sauce and the steak was surprisingly tender. Maybe not the best cut of steak but tender nonetheless. We were too full for dessert. :)
The first day I arrived in Paris, I went straight to this Relais de l'Entrecôte location since I planned to do some shopping on Champs-Élysées Avenue afterward. I wanted to beat the crowd and see what the hype was about, especially since I had never had steak frites in Paris before. I got there about 30 minutes before the restaurant opened, and there was already a long line, but I made it in as part of the first wave. There's no menu for the main dish. The waitress simply asks how you want your steak cooked, and shortly afterward, she brings out the spicy mustard dressing salad, followed by your table's portion of steak and fries. You get two plates full of steak and fries, which may seem like a lot, but to the American appetite, it was enough food and not overly excessive. The steak and fries were good, and the sauce that came with the steak was really delicious. Our waitress was very nice and friendly. Everybody spoke English, so there were no issues with language barriers. Yes, this restaurant is touristy and located right by a super touristy shopping street. Overall, I did enjoy the food and wouldn't mind going again, but maybe to a different location.
Wow as an American who loves steak, all I can say is wow! The restaurant opens to the public for dinner at 6:30... Get in line at at least 5:45pm Get ready for perfectly cooked steak and fries - when you sit down they ask you three questions: what type of water, how do you like your steak cooked, what do you want to drink? You receive a light salad, then two servings of steak frites. The crème brûlée was to die for and the profiteroles were chocolately goodness. I will definitely be coming back

Amazing steak and fries for lunch. It's amazing the time and thought that goes into a meal like this. The meal starts off with a small salad with walnuts and a dressing that has a back taste of horseradish. The steak comes out pre-sliced and in an amazing sauce. The steak is placed on your plate and then hot straw style fries that are just the right size to have snap and a nice texture in the mouth. Desert was offered but we passed after a great lunch. Environment 5 stars Service was very nice at 5 stars Ambiance was from days past and very enjoyable- five stars. read more
Excellent! Beef and pomme frites. Simple excellent menu with a finely cooked cut of beef (pink ins) and a secret sauce that may or may not be the missing ingredient for successful world peace. I'm leaning towards the former more than the latter. This is a super popular place with people will queue up for. Don't worry, this is not a place to sit and linger so a table will open up soon. read more

I was craving steak frites so headed over to Le Relais de l'Entrecote. There was quite the wait to get in. I got there just before 8 and waited for an hour to get seated. (Too bad they don't take reservations). Given the line, they pack the restaurant to the max.. no room for personal space here, but once you get in service is quick. They ask how you want your steak prepared and take your drink order. Shortly after a salad is served with bread. The steak frites itself, it was ok. Flavors were a bit bland and the steak grade was average. They serve half your steak and frites portion and the second half follows after you finish. Also tried the profiteroles au chocolat, which was yummy! Love me some profiteroles and these didn't disappoint. All in all I'm glad I went, but I'd pass during a future trip to Paris. Between the wait and the ok quality meat, there is definitely better out there. read more
I understand this may be a tourist trap but do not pass it up!! We came on a Monday around 10pm and waited about 45 minutes for our party of 4. Once seated though service is crazy quick!! The meal starts with a salad with a delicious mustardy vinegrette which was refreshing and of course some fresh crusty bread!! Then the steak frites comes and everyone gets 2 portions (they are on the smaller end so don't be alarmed) The sauce on the steak was great but my one thing is that you have 3 options for steak cooking but they seemed kind of random as to whether you got rare or medium or whatever. The fries were delicious as well!! To end the meal we got creme brille and protiferoles and both were just so rich and delicious. Shoutout to our waitress who was so nice and such a lovely restaurant!! read more

There was huge lineups for this restaurant. You get steak frites and salad and only order how you like your steak. The portions are large and the fries are good. The food was ok. They are very efficient in turning tables over. We went for lunch and there was still a line at 2:30. read more

Definitely do not miss the chance to go here! It was one of the best meals I've had during my trip to Paris! They are experts in steak and frites and everything was done to perfection! The sauce was my favorite part as well. And if you're thinking about dessert, definitely go for it because it was a great cap to the dinner. The service was very attentive and quick. Don't let the line out the door deter you from trying out this place! They don't take reservations so plan accordingly. The place was super clean and light up and I love the whole experience of it. read more

Our server was very good, quick, attentive, and nice. The food itself was nothing special in my opinion. The fries are regular fries and the steak is okay, the sauce that goes on everything is not particularly great either. My main problem was that I ordered medium for my steak but there were plenty pieces mixed in that were definitely too rare to the point I couldn't even finish chewing them. Not to mention the cost and the fact you have to queue outside for long periods with nowhere to sit. read more

Set an alarm for 45 minutes and if you're still waiting, go ahead and leave. Not worth the wait. It was fine. I think the line makes it seem like the food is better than it is but really you get half a steak. Fries were good. Once you get seated you are served quickly. Wine is awful. Do with this what you will!!! read more
Le Relais de l'Entrecôte is a classic spot if you're craving steak frites. The concept is simple--they only serve one main dish: steak with their signature sauce and fries. The steak was perfectly cooked, and the sauce was rich and flavorful. The service was quick despite how busy it was, and the atmosphere felt charming and lively. If you're looking for variety, this isn't the place, but if you love steak and fries, it's a must-try... just be prepared to wait in line for 60 minutes + for a table. Its worth the wait... read more
Yes, just OK. Once again we were lulled into the tourist trap. We have now been lulled four or five times!!! The first time we tried to go the line was around the corner prior to the place opening. We were about 200 back. They opened and the first wave got in. I left my partner in line and went to count how many were left...only about 120. I sent a text and said "we are out of here". On our last afternoon in Paris we decided to attempt a second time. This time it was about 1:30PM and the line only had about 20 people when we got there. Still had about a 20 minute wait. We ordered. Not a choice as we knew. So we got the Entrecôte with a greenish mustardish sauce and fries. The entrecôte was cooked perfectly but that is about all that was perfect about it. It was so tough. The sauce, that I remember being the best part of the meal was a bit off tasting. Wish I could pin point the taste. It was not very good. The fries were the best part of the meal. The place was packed, bumper to bumper. The ladies that work there looks absolutely exhausted. And they work so very hard. Service was very attentive. The cost was $27.50 and it was all one can eat. One should go at least once. And sad part is we will probably go back. But I would not stand in the line for very long. read more

Iconic Parisian spot. You don't have a lot choices: just desserts, a limited cocktail/wine list and of course how you want your steak cooked. Your meal starts with a lettuce salad with walnuts and horse radish, while simple it tastes surprisingly good. Then comes the main course the fries and the steak I got mine medium and it came out more medium rare. Don't ask for ketchup. But the fries and steak sauce are incredible. The waiters are all women dressed in timeless but 1950s type outfits. I highly recommend the food here but expect to wait quite a while if you don't show up before it opens. I think the trick is show up at 6p about 30 mins before the place opens. Ambiance is also nice gives me Swiss French Hofbrau vibes. read more

My lunch was short and sweet. I arrived at the restaurant exactly at 11:30 and there were already 6 people in line waiting for the doors to open at noon. When that time came, the line was extensively longer - the indoor seating was packed within minutes. There was still outdoor seating available. The waitstaff was lovely. It seemed every 5 minutes they had to tell a group of diners that there's a line outside and they never got annoyed or rude with anyone. They were also very attentive and you can't get that kind of service most places. I gave the restaurant 4 stars instead of 5 because I thought the food was a little above average. It wasn't anything I would brag about, but it was a decent meal and I enjoyed it. I'm not a fan of salad so I only ate it until the steak and frites came, but I liked the touch of walnuts. I liked the steak sauce especially with the fries, but neither was absolutely amazing on its own. The steak itself wasn't cooked to the right temperature for me, but that may be because the US and France have different standards (obviously). Nevertheless, the meat was tender, easy to cut, and went down well. I just wish it had more seasoning. This was the first time I tried profiteroles. I thought there would be more to them, but I wasn't disappointed. You can't lose with the combination of chocolate, almonds, vanilla ice cream, and puff pastries. It's always a somewhat difficult adjustment to revaluate your expectations when it comes to the quality of food when traveling to different countries. Because I'm so used to over-seasoned/salted American food, I think my unhealthy preferences took away from the food at this restaurant. It's a good restaurant that is always packed. It's definitely worth trying (and ignoring my bias) if you have the craving for steak. read more

Steak and shoestring fries w gravy,:rich and filling. I bit of background, solo American traveling to Paris. I arrived 1120am for their lunch, doors open at noon. There was a line already. I got seated w first wave. I asked for medium rare, waitress said they couldn't do that, either medium or rare. I said, rare. She said, red inside? I said ok. Warning, rare in Paris is 100% red. Did I eat it, yes. But had I known, the would have gone for medium. Would I go back? No. It's around $36 US and it's an interesting experience, but I suspect there are similar places with shorter lines. FYI, the gravy is very different than anything in the states. It was flora and thicken w butter. Delicious. read more
I've heard so many mixed reviews on this place, so I had to go try and decide for myself while visiting Paris. Let me just say, even though I knew the wait would be long I still didn't expect to wait in line for 45min at 10pm but alas we made it in. Seating is super packed and tight but they have a system. Our waiter was amazing, so friendly and gave recommendations when needed. Now on to the most important part, the food! The salad & bread weren't bad but nothing to rave about. The steak & fries were good - have I had better absolutely but the sauce is what makes it different. We got profiterole chocolat for dessert and loved it! I'd say if you're in the area, give this place a try but time it so your wait isn't over an hour. Any waiting longer than that doesn't make it worth it in my opinion. read more

After hearing so much about this famous steak frites spot I had to try it for myself. The wait was surprisingly only 15-20 minutes but we arrived late around 9pm on a Wednesday. The service was also very quick because they only ask you how you want your steak cooked and thats it. They come over with a starter salad which was good and then the star of the show is the steak frites with their delicious green sauce. You can get 2 plates full of steak frites for only 26 euro per person. read more
