It's hard to believe that a year has passed and that it's time for new specs! After having eye issues that no other Doctor of Optometry could find, I met Dr Wu. I told her that others had not been able to help me with my situation and she started with some testing with prisms and a laser. With those tools and her expertise, she had a diagnosis and remedy in short order. I've been cured of my ailment for a year and now it's time to look at my eyes again. That did not take long! Went for regular eye exam and was given a prescription for a contact lens which wasn't made my the manufacturer. I realized this when I tried to buy contacts and they simply didn't exist. I called to get this corrected. Nancy (the practice manager) was very reasonable, apologized, said there was "human error" and gave me an updated prescription. I try to buy contacts again and learn that the second contact lens prescription also didn't exist! Apparently they hadn't even checked, shocking given the first mistake! I called back to ask for help, they were VERY hard to get a response from. When I finally did get a response, they were rude and refused to answer questions. I still don't have any resolution and don't have any faith that they will be able to provide quality eyecare. Very concerned about sloppy care, lack of due diligence, and poor customer service. Highly advise you look elsewhere for your eye care needs. read more

This is my second test back and I love it. Not only is the staff all women, but mainly WOC! Dr Rosalia S. Is so fun but informative. She takes thorough notes so when you return a year later it truly felt like we picked up where left off. My #1 things is that she sat and spent time with me and didn't rush me or make me feel like I was asking too much. Transparent health care is so important to me. One of my friends recommended this place, so of course I was open to trying. Even though it was just an eye doctor appointment, I had such a pleasant experience. It's an all women team, which I loved! My doctor, Dr. Wu, was great she thoroughly explained the process, offered additional details on any questions I had and was extra thorough. My favorite part was at the end of my exam, the staff sat with me and explained my benefits. Most optometry groups just try and upsell you on stuff and send you on your way. Positives: attentive, prompt, helpful service. Negatives: messed up my contact lens prescription. Make sure when getting samples or ordering the final order, that when you get the product, check all numbers to make sure they're correct. I told them after the mistakes and they corrected them, but they need to make sure these numbers are all correct beforehand. read more

This was my first time coming here and found them through my insurance. Brought my two daughters age 3 & 6 to their annual eye exam and was greeted by the receptionist with the lovely purple hair. Filled out the paperwork and was introduced to Dr. Ashley Darnell who was very friendly, made the girls feel comfortable and overall explained everything to me. San leandro optometrist group is not recommended by us. I took my 12 year old to get a eye exam and the doctor was very fast, and we do not feel as it was a thoroughly examination .she dilated the eye and charged $35 and we did not ask for it. we had a $50 coupon but they did not take it .the lady that works with us through the price quotes for the contact lenses she claimed playing video games is good for the eyes because it was eye exercise.as a mother I do not like that comment of encourage kids play video games. anyway I did not feel the 20 minutes she spent for the exam that was worth$169. read more

Came in here to get glasses, and they happened to be having a trunk show with reps from Michael Kors and Calvin Klein there. The reps were extremely patient in helping me choose out glasses that worked .The optometrist was really friendly, and seemed to run the place very well. Staff was all welcoming and on top of their responsibilities. I'd definitely recommend this place - they have a good assortment of frames to chose from as well. Best of all? Having gone through 3 eye surgeries in 2015 and 2 previous others in 2000, and in so many many years of having dealt with numerous optometrists and eye doctors from when I was 18 living all over the U.S from Minnestoa to California, I can say that Dr. Saavedra is among the (if not in fact "THE") best and "THE" most caring and "THE" most knowledgable optometrists I have seen... I live in San Jose, and in spite of the almost 1.5 hour of drive in painful traffic I would not want to see any other optometrists anywhere but her.. She is not only expert in her field and knows exactly - and I mean exactly - what she is doing, she in a simple language that (at least) "I" can understand explains everything she is doing and "why" she is doing it. Her diagnosis is right on the spot, and what she recommends is exactly what the eyes need. I would STRONGLY recommend her to anyone who does care for his/her own eyes. read more

Came here to have my eyes checked after refusing to wear glasses for my entire adolescence. (Horrible idea.) I was given two quick forms to fill out and then very quickly led back to the exam room by Ana, a member of the staff. She explained every test she performed with clarity, making me very comfortable, and was soooooo sweet and personable. Ana led me to the other exam room where I waited--again not that long--for Dr. Saavedra. Another great experience. Dr. Saavedra is very kind, gentle, and friendly, and made me feel at ease. When she finished conducting her tests, she confirmed what I already knew--that I needed glasses--and took me back out to select my frames with Ana. Ana was very patient, although I think I went through about 30 frames before finding "the ones". Lol. She then went through another 10 or 15 sunglasses frames with me so that if my regular glasses are a success, which I know they will be, I can just call and put in my order for the sunglasses with my prescription. I have never been so excited to wear glasses, and have never loved going to the optometrist so much! Definitely recommend, no question. read more

The doctors are great!! But their staff especially the front desk is rude!! They are unorganized & so not prepared for when the patient walks in. I've been coming to this place for the past 4 years & every time I go in, the receptionist is always in a bad mood, rude...always. My last visit was the last, I don't need to walk in and deal with an unhappy person at the front desk. Maybe she should go find a job where she will greet her customers well and have a smile on her face. I love Dr. Saavedra, but her front desk staff has to go. Dr Akera is a great optometrist, been seeing her for over 20 years, no complaints here, but on the lab side (frame purchase, prescription lens) the cost mark up is astronomical. Marcela quoted me a price for new frames plus prescription lens for a total cost of almost $1000.00, but I shopped around and got the EXACT frames and exact prescription lens for total cost of $325.00 for a savings of well over $500.00. I am not saying the frame and lab side of this place is bad, it is just expensive. So, get your eyes examined here by competant eye Drs, but be advised you can fill your prescription and get frames elsewhere for way way cheaper. read more
