I'm incredibly pleased with this practice and hope this practice garners more and more 5 star reviews as the entire team deserves it! This was my first time here, and the front desk staff were super accommodating with me when I asked for a last minute appointment. The front desk staff were all super friendly and polite, knowledgeable in their work, and just gave out an air of friendliness. Then I met Dr Kimberly Haw and she just was soo incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and I could tell she really wanted to do right by her patients. I went in for what I thought would be a simple contact lens exam and fitting, but I spent about an hour there mainly as I had a lot of health questions to ask and Dr Haw was super patient and open to answering everything. I also appreciated all of her honest advice regarding my eye health, and she took the time to explain her reasonings so that I could understand as well. She gave me a lot of advice too as well as sharing updated eye health care practices I didn't even know about. I'm incredibly impressed by how kind, thorough, and patient she was with me. She also gave me an amazing deal on contacts so that was a huge plus! I live far but work in San Leandro so I'm planning on having Estudillo Optometry and Dr Haw as my go to optometrist! Extremely rude lady, even though my wife used her Medicare eye med insurance last year, when we stopped in yesterday to see if she could get new glasses, when I said Medicare advantage plan she summarily told us not interested. Today I called and said "eye med" the man on the phone looked in the computer and said , yes your insurance is good. It would have been nice if the "lady?" Yesterday had taken the time to look in the computer, but apparently she did not want to be bothered, but who needs good service, apparently not this place. Iwas very happy with the service here when seeing De Eddy Haw. Today I was seen by Dr Hira. She mumbled into her mask, didn't explain anything, didn't ask what I wanted or needed,. Was unimpressed. I have just had cataract surgery and had trifocal lens implanted. The follow up care at the opthalmologist said I didn't need glasses but should have refraction done. Dr Hira was more interested in selling me glasses than explaining the results of the refraction. She left the close up reading chart in the way when asking me to read the letters on the far wall, left the bright lights on du ering the test, didn't have the mirror lined up to start with. All in all very shabby service. I will only go back if I can be seen by Dr Haw. read more

The doctor was fine and telling your symptom and what you need to improve on , but sales didn't know the products function and products availability which cost some period of wait time I wasted. I don't mind expected pending shipment due to Covid, but they always keep changing the length day of shipment more than many times. If you want medical opinion, sure, but you have to expect uncertainty pending of delivery time, and you pretty much have to do your research is the glasses fit for you or not. Is there a 50 star rating? We have been going here for our glasses for years. Dr. Haw is amazing. He asks very important questions about your health in addition to your vision. He is interested and concerned about you overall. I have never experienced this with any other eye doctor. And the staff, incredible. Helpful, gives you honest feedback and just makes going in wonderful experience. But then there is Anderson. There are no real words to describe him. He is our go-to person (although everyone else is wonderful). He is just a joy to visit. Anderson is just wonderful! I don't know how else to say it. He makes sure when you walk out you look amazing but also that everything is perfect for you. One of the kindest men I have ever known. The selection of product is unlike anywhere I have been. I am always guaranteed to find exceptional frames and they are always receiving new items. So many choices. Been coming here for years. Large selection of frames to meet any budget. The staff is always welcoming and attentive. Anderson is my absolute favorite and while over the years different staff has come and gone, he has been here as far back as I can remember. My son is really hard on glasses. He brakes his frames at least once a year and he is almost blind without his glasses. Anderson always comes to the rescue. There was the time he found some frames in the office that fit my sons lenses, popped in the lenses and sent us on our way! Free of charge! The time he couldn't find any frames in the Oakland office but found some at the Castro Valley office and rushed them over. Anderson doesn't have to do this. He could make us wait for weeks until frames come in but he knows how imperative it is for my son to be able too see, so he goes beyond the call of duty to make sure my son has his glasses! read more

If I could give this business zero stars I would! Dr. Monica Nguyen and Anderson have provided me with exceptional service since my first appt. on 1/9/2021. However, Dr. Kimberly Haw should not only have her license revoked, she should also take some kind of customer service and effective communication skills courses. I have had issues with a pair of eyeglasses that I purchased from Estudillo Plaza Optometry on 1/9/2021, and have had to return 3X to fix the problem. My first and only encounter with Dr. Haw was over the phone on 3/12/2021 when I called past the date I was told my replacement frames were to have arrived. I hadn't received a call so I wanted to check in. The lack of communication or miscommunication between the staff is not the patient's fault; if I'm told to expect a replacement pair within 2 weeks that is what I'm planning for, not a whole month later after the 2 weeks. Dr. Haw was EXTREMELY rude, condescending and overall unprofessional in every way. She was speaking to me in the way that a sales person who is trying to deviate from answering a direct question speaks to people; basically just nonsense. She kept talking and talking, and going on and on, so much so, that I had to ask her to stop talking and could I explain the situation/problem and ask my questions. She finally did let me speak. When I finally went to pick up my replacement pair on 3/15/2021, I discovered that Dr. Haw lied about what her and I spoke about - a pair was supposed to be delivered from another store and exchanged for the damaged pair. This is when I found out the pair that was supposed to have been ordered MID FEBRUARY due to being faulty/ warranty issue was never ordered! I was handed a clearly used, damaged pair and told that was what the manufacturer sent - it was not. When we finally got to the bottom of it, after much back and forth between Anderson and Dr. Haw, it was determined that they would NOW AND THEN place the order for the new frames. While waiting for the order to be placed, confirmed, etc. there was a document on the counter. I thought this document was for me as I saw my name on it and figured it had to do with the original order that was "placed." I picked up the paper and upon reading it, I realized this was an internal, confidential document. Dr. Haw made a note on my file that stated "I was a very rude child" - I'm 32, and stated that "I wanted to go off on her but she's not worth it!" I didn't read too much further as I was FURIOUS that a doctor would be so unprofessional and speak like this about a PATIENT! I will never return to Estudillo Plaza Optometry and advise anyone who wants a trust worthy and ethical doctor treating their EYES to not patronize this business! She clearly thought it was necessary to make this note so her staff could know how she felt about me and in general characterize me in the horrible way she did. This further supports my suspicion of how the rest of the staff, except Dr. Nguyen and Anderson, have treated me since the moment I stepped into the office to get the replacement pair - also very dismissive and rude. IT IS BEYOND UNPROFESSIONAL TO SPEAK ABOUT YOUR PATIENTS LIKE THIS! I would never trust her to see me, or speak/be around me. It makes me feel unsafe to know this is how she truly feels and this is how she conducts herself behind closed doors. THANK GOD I saw that paper and THANK GOD she never examined me. Honestly, who knows what she could have done to me or my eyes while being in a room alone. This goes beyond a little "oh the patient was being difficult" thought to yourself. NO! She documented her disdain for me and shared it with her staff. Absolutely disrespectful and repulsive! I will be following up with a formal complaint to the Optometry Board of California to do my part and ensure that no one else has a similar experience or is hurt in the future by Dr. Kimberly Haw. read more

I would have given zero starts but that wasn't an option. I have never been treated so poorly by a business in my life. At the initial visit I came by with my prescription looking for a nice frame. After looking through the selections I found a nice pair and gave the lady my information to look up my insurance. After several attempts she advised "You must have been mistaken, you don't have VSP I can't find your insurance under this SSN". I assured her that I do and have had VSP for many years. At that point I called VSP myself and was given a company code and that worked like a charm. Her attitude changed from dry and dismissive to happy and excited. Wow...so because YOU assumed I had no vision coverage I could only get great customer service AFTER it was confirmed. Whatever. Moving on, I purchased the frames and was left a voicemail on a Friday explaining that they closed at noon on Saturday and my frames were ready for pick up. Yay! That sounds a plan, I'll be nice and cute for the new year! I pull up at 11:30am with both my kids in tow. The door is locked. I look inside and see two workers a man and a woman. They are assisting a family of at least three. I knock on the door. Everyone looks up, but doesn't move. Oooook.... I knock again and the clients look up but neither worker. Uh...is this a joke? I knock again, a little harder and the guy who works there looks up laughs and continues to work. Neither employee came to the door. No one even acknowledged my presence. It was as if I was a solicitor or a panhandler asking for change. You know maybe they decided to close thirty minutes earlier. That is understandable but to completely IGNORE a customer is completely rude and disrespectful and I will NEVER patronize this business again. I feel discriminated against and I will be filing a complaint ASAP. Update: The man who worked there, called to apologize to me (after receiving word of my complaint). He stated he did not open the door for me and my children because "They have been robbed a few times" As if that was supposed to make me feel any better. He being an African American man stereotyped my family and I. I was insulted, and I still am to this day. I will never EVER go there again and I suggest no one else does either. read more
