I've been going to Eyebright Optometry since 2018! Originally, I accidentally did my eye exam at an out-of-network place, so I was just looking for a place that was in-network and had cute frames that didn't break the bank. I went to a lot of different places before finding Eyebright. I came for their affordable eyewear options, but ended up staying for their wonderful service. Dr. Nguyen and Dr. Mai are both so knowledgeable! They explain things in a way that's easy to digest and understand. They also go beyond the vision/prescription discussion, and look into how other aspects of your health may be affected, which makes me feel taken care from a holistic approach. I can feel they genuinely care for my wellbeing. The staff working in the front, Roger and Sharon, are really friendly and helpful too. It's always a great experience with them! After I got married and added my husband to my insurance, I got him to start coming to Eyebright too. I book our appointments back to back via their website and then we attend our appointments together. I also appreciate that I can communicate with Eyebright via text for any updates and/or inquiries. I'm so glad I found this optometrist! One side of my glasses was broken (the screw was missing), and Dr. Roger Vasquez-Tam fixed it on the spot. He found a replacement screw to fix the broken side and also tightened the other side. AVOID this business with all your might!!!! I had perhaps only one good experience with the optometrist who works Monday ONCE!!!! The office staff have attitudes and clearly are not happy working there! The frame stylist gentleman gave me an attitude today as I told him my glasses were tight on the left arm yet would not adjust them as he said they were straight even though I told him of the headaches I was having from the arm of the glasses! I am the customer!!! He questioned me! He should've listened to my concerns instead of being condescending!!!! These were expensive Tom Ford glasses! The receptionist used to be nice yet is rude as well!!!! This business does not meet my high standards!!!!! Mind you, I had brought up the frame stylists attitude toward the Monday optometrist at one point in time and she dismissed me without even an apology! He has other bad reviews on Yelp!!!!!!! Great staff! I was greeted by all 4 staff members upon arrival. The Covid protocol is clear and enforced. I filled out my forms online and called when I got there. They took my temperature and gave me hand sanitizer. They also only allow you be client in the office at a time. I waited in my car and someone came out to get me. Dr. Nguyen is very knowledgeable and listened to my needs. They honored an in store rebate from April due to Covid and saved me a lot of money. read more

Let me start by saying that I was very impressed by my recent visit to Eyebright. Sharon, Roger and Gregvi were all very helpful to me with my journey to get my new glasses. Sharon especially was amazing on the telephone from the first interaction that I had with Eyebright which set the tone for an amazing experience. Dr Nguyen took her time with my eye exam and wrote three prescriptions for my job, for driving my car and also for when I need to pass the exam at the DMV. It was a very thorough eye exam and she took about 45 minutes with me which I appreciated. I came here after years of visits to other optometrists and it was a night and day difference. When I am looking for a provider for my health I want a doctor that is knowledgable, caring, and isn't just there to make you feel good but give you the facts so you can make life adjustments to have a long and happy life (with the best vision possible). My experience went as follows - when I arrived the doctor was at the front desk and got me all checked in. She did not defer to the other staff but instead took the time to check me in between patients (a good sign!). Shortly after I was guided to a comprehensive series of tests. After each test the doctor went through the results with me and even pointed out some things that prior doctors had not divulged to me in previous visits. In particular apparently I have a couple risk factors for retinol detachment(ew) but otherwise my vision was great and my Lasik was holding up after years. I took a note to not take up boxing or other contact sports to further this risk :) The front office staff was fantastic. They were quick, attentive, and catered to my needs. In particular, after my exam, I decided to pickup some glasses. Since I was alone (and I'm particularly challenging in knowing what looks good), the staff was happy to provide their input in helping me choose a couple pairs of specs. Rodger, one of the front office staff helped get me fitted and adjusted the glasses to perfection. I was out and able to get what I needed in a reasonable amount of time. I actually look forward to my next visit which I was not expecting to say. I came out of there having clearer vision, a couple great pairs of glasses, and knowledge of my eyes and what to avoid. This was one of the most unprofessional offices I've been to. The two front desk people that helped me were great - one was a hispanic man and the other was an asian woman who did my first few eye tests (she was not a doctor). The only thing is the place smelled like dirty toys from a day care. Then, I was put into the exam room that looked like a scene out of a horror movie. Like wooden walls, dark, and an old black leather chair right in the middle with eye telescopes right next to it. *cringe right when I stepped in the doorway Too late now, so I sat down and the doctor came in, didn't introduce himself and he looked very young so I assumed he was assisting the doctor. I asked him for his name at the end of the exam when I realized he did my whole entire exam. It was an interesting experience.. He whispered things to himself as he looked at my eyes and looked like he was really thinking about things, adding numbers together. Then when it came to covering an eye and identifying letters, he only asked if I could see two of them before switching to another board. I probably recited a total of 4 letters during the entire exam. I'm used to reading off lines. I also did not get a color blindness test. Out of all the tools he used to look at my eyes and whisper to himself, I have no idea what he was looking at. I asked, but he was very vague and said my eyes are fine. I told him why I came in, but I feel as if my diagnosis might be wrong. Wish I spent my annual check up elsewhere or could get a second opinion. Stay away from this place. I was unhappy with their service. They could not do what I was asking for between the progressive lenses and the bifocals. Finally I got the bifocals and paid $300 out of pocket after $600 paid by insurance and have never been used. I went to Costco to get one with progressive instead and paid $130 and use them ever since. I was very upset and took my whole family of 4 elsewhere. read more

I have been in such denial about my children needing glasses and she kept urging me to have them come in for their first eye exam. She was right. My daughter was 5 years old and had high astigmatism. The anti glare coating on my glasses had worn off and they were still under warranty. I called Eyebright Optometry and asked if they could do anything about it . They said no problem and to bring them right in. I was told it would take 9 or 10 days. 9 days later my glasses were done. They were perfect, just like a brand-new pair of glasses. Dr. Nguyen is fantastic and the staff is first rate. They always take the time to make sure you're up 100% satisfied with your glasses. I couldn't imagine going anywhere else. I really wanted to find a new local optometrist and was really let down. First thing is I got insurance through my job and I called to confirm my insurance as well as make an appointment. In the phone call I was asked "do you wear contacts?" "yes" "okay put them on 3 hours before your appointment and wear them in". So then I finally go in for my appointment and one thing that bothers me is that I have to say hello first. Not a big deal. I look at the selection of frames which is what I was interested in and they're selection wasn't so great, not many brands and I couldn't find one that fit my face well. The Dr. takes me in and I have to ask her to introduce herself... Then we go through the standard procedure. She tells me that my contacts look very dirty. I said I showered with them and she told me I wasn't supposed to do that. I told her I was never told that. Then I go to the back room to get the eye puffs. Every optometrist I have been to has always sanitized these machines in front of me except this place. I didn't say anything but it was pretty disgusting to me. Then I get my eyes dilated and went to the front desk to go over my insurance again. I don't think these people have a real sence of people experience who are not involved with an eye Dr. The front desk girl was going over my options pointing at the paper-i could read a thing and then she says "oh wait this is not even for you". Then she goes to my paper and explains "since you chose the contact route you are not eligible for lenses or frames". This was infuriating because I was clear on multiple occasions that I wear my contacts maximum 2x a month and I still have a surplus of . Basically I was forced to use my insurance to pay for a service I never asked for as well as contacts! I would have had $180 credit towards glasses plus my $25 Co pay. Instead I had to pay the copay plus $100 contact fitting fee (so Upsetting!!) plus the price of contacts or I would get no benefit for my insurance. I paid and left. Then I went back to get my contacts, had to park partly in the side walk because the whole parking lot was covered in glass. I went inside and stood there for about 5 seconds then said hello first again to three women. I asked if everything was OK it was so unwelcoming and uncomfortable. I said there was the glass in the parking lot and I was told oh yea that has been there for about a week now. It's Wells Fargo parking lot. How lazy!! You're business is very unprofessional and I will not be back and I hope this review helps others make an informed decision. read more

I have been going to this location (previously in Hayward off of Jackson) when it was owned by the prior owner pushing three decades now. The office refuses to let me speak to the doctor. I spoke to a gentleman in the office and he gave me a quote for an eye exam less than $100 more than another woman gave me less than a week later since they no longer take my insurance. My PCP who I've only been going to for five years has been kind enough to lower his cash rate to $50. I fully intended to go there because they have all of my records since I was nine years old, but I'm done. The staff doesn't know what they're doing, they are disrespectful and either lie or are completely uneducated. There are plenty of other Optometrist you can go to. She also milks insurance companies for full glaucoma tests that aren't even needed. Perhaps I should report them to VSP. read more

I was referred by a friend for a optometrist that does not rush through the process. Have you been to an eye doctor that finishes everything in 15 minutes and leaves no time for any questions? You will not get that here. Every test was carefully explained as we were going through them. I visited Eyebright Optometry for an eye exam. I was greeted warmly upon entry and was shown to the exam room. Dr. Nguyen was bright and cheery and explained everything in details and answered all my questions. She took her time with the exam which I very much appreciated. When we were done I proceeded to browse the selection of glasses they had available. I knew my insurance would not kick in for another month but Dr. Nguyen assured me I can order them now since they needed to be fitted with my prescription lens which will take a little bit of time and that they will bill me when the glasses are ready for pick up. The process was hassle-free and I finally found prescription glasses that I like. It was an overall wonderful experience thanks to Dr. Nguyen and her staff. read more

The Doctor was very rude she talked in a condescending manner.They don't tell you that you should have a ride afterwards instead they try to tell you to get your eyes dilated like last year and I said no and they said it would be for another year since I already had my eye exam. I complained that they didn't tell me that I should get a ride and the Doctor did say I could make another appointment to get my eyes dilated but I would have to go through all the same procedures for the eye screening I just went through before I seen the Doctor. She also tried to argue with me and tell me that I said I want another prescription. I never said that. I'm guessing it's her way of trying to make more money. read more

I was in search for a new Optometrist and was recommended here by a friend. Dr. Nguyen was highly professional and her staff were extremely friendly. The whole operation seem to operate very efficiently. Dr. Nguyen patiently and professionally evaluated my vision. She even identified that my vision was evaluated stronger than it should. She took the time to identify new contact lenses that can hep me save some money since I don't wear contacts as much as I do anymore. I am very indecisive with picking out glasses. I came here for an eye exam in February. Dr. Nguyen and her staff were super sweet. The eye appointment was efficient, yet thorough. Her staff sent me forms that I could fill out ahead of time so that I didn't have to wait as long at the office (in fact, they saw me right away)! I've had glasses and contacts for as long as I can remember, but Dr. Nguyen taught me some eye care tips that I haven't heard before. I am the type of person that asks tons of questions at the doctor's office (to my husband's chagrin...) and she cheerfully entertained my questions. :) Side note, when I was in the waiting room I heard Dr. Nguyen talking to a patient who was picking out glasses and asking about about prescription swimming goggles. She totally could have up sold them prescription goggles from her office (which I didn't even know those existed), but she gave them a tip to check a sporting goods store based on the person's eye prescription. I liked the honesty/that's enough for me to come back! If you are looking for a doctor that genuinely seems to care about her patients, Dr. Nguyen fits the bill. I've been a patient for the past two years now, and have gotten both prescription sunglasses and contact lenses from this office. Dr. Nguyen has been on time to all of my visits in the past few years, and the staff has been very courteous every single time. My prescription sunglasses have worked well for me ever since getting them, which makes things much more convenient for me. I was skeptical on the polarization recommended but it works great for me. I've never really had any issues with parking or the location in general. The office is small but easy to find on the road. I did not enjoy my experience at this office. I wear contacts and have always gotten a contact eye exam (that is an eye exam with a lens fitting). Here, I was charged for both an eye exam for glasses and an eye exam for contacts. I'm not sure why I was charged for two exams and paid double what I could have paid anywhere else to update my prescription. I will not be returning. read more
