Family has been coming here for a while now, but after today's visit, it will be our last. The doctor herself is great, good personality, good with my kids, it's always been a pleasant experience. Unfortunately, I did leave today's visit with a gut feeling that the doctor unfortunately manipulates how she's going to bill their services to benefit them, not us the customers. My husband and I each have a great VSP plans through our employer and for two exams it should have been covered especially with double coverage, however I left paying $120 out-of-pocket on what should have been zero. I left very disappointed. I am in the HR field and I have an understanding of how Primary and secondary insurances work, but there really was no arguing with the doctor. Definitely disappointed, and because of this experience, we will no longer be going to see her. read more

I had a check with Christine back in 2023 for a Eye exam and Contact Lens exam. She is meticulous and ensures your vision exam is done with great attention. However, I am giving her 1 star because she refused to provide my eye exam prescription. I didn't make much of it because I only needed a contact lens rx so that I could reorder contact lenses. But I learnt now that optometrists are legally required to provide an RX after eye exam. Avoid at all cost. Just to add - I had already told her I am going for an eye exam but her mood changed when I said I get my glasses and contacts from Costco. The customer service here certainly left a lot to be desired. My experience began with a phone call to express my interest in getting a fit adjustment on my eyeglass frames that I purchased online through VSP/Eyeconic. The doctor advised that she doesn't take appointments for adjustments and to just come in. I asked if it was correct that the office would be open until 6:30pm and she told me to come before 6pm because she was going to be closing early due to a conference. I arrived at 5:30pm and introduced myself as the person that called earlier. She then proceeded to tell me that she didn't know why the website was directing me to her for an adjustment. I explained and also showed her the website and steps that directed me to come in to one of the listed providers, which Valley Vision is listed as, for a free adjustment. She repeatedly and tensely stated that she didn't understand why Eyeconic is referring customers to Valley Vision for this. I felt very unwelcome but politely and respectfully replied that I also didn't know why the website lists her as an available provider. I asked if she is actually a VSP provider and she confirmed that she is. After additionally questioning how I was able to get progressive lenses without having an in person evaluation, she told me she could straighten out the frames but wouldn't be responsible if anything went wrong. She stated this in a defensive tone and repeated it multiple times. I agreed. She then hurriedly straightened the glasses but barely looked at me after handing them over and walked away back to the front desk. Long story short(er), the whole interaction was very rushed with no care shown to if I was satisfied with the fit. She also mentioned that she had something else to work on. It was obvious that she was in a rush and didn't want to be bothered with assisting me. Had she simply and politely told me on the phone or when I came in that unfortunately she was short on time today, I would've understood but no such courtesy was expressed. My glasses were quickly adjusted however because she brushed me off after making the 2 adjustments, I just decided to do as she wished, and leave her to her other work. The fit still isn't quite right so I will be visiting a different provider to complete the job. I will not ever be returning here and would not recommend her/Valley Vision as a provider that prioritizes customer service. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Christine for six years. I moved and now live in Southern California and I still go to see her for my treatment and so with my son. This Doctor cares about her patients. She wants to do the best for us, not just trying to make money from us. I highly recommend her. She has a heart for her patients. Dr. Liao is great and the eye exam was thorough as well, so my review should be five stars, if it weren't for the unconscionable mark-up on the cost of my contact lenses. Even with great insurance, I was charged $129 for a contact lens fit, something I've never been charged for by previous optometrists, and $720 for 1-year's supply of contacts that sell for $300 almost everywhere else. I thought the $849 figure (just to get contacts!) was fishy, because the same brand from my previous optometrist was much cheaper; I assumed it must be post-Covid inflation, but I assumed wrong. It seems that I should have paid closer attention to the 1-star reviews on here--others experienced similar upcharge and crazy mark-ups as well. In short, I can recommend getting your eye exam here, but please go elsewhere--anywhere else at all--to buy your contacts or glasses. read more

They were not able to accommodate me until several weeks later but Valley Vision Optometry was able to squeeze me in the next day! I was greeted by Dr. Christine Y. Liao and she was very mindful of COVID-19 safe practices. Further she game me amazing care and wasn't trying to rush me. I honestly felt like a rock star the entire time I was there. I felt like she put the time with my Eye Examination to really make sure my prescription was accurate. In the past I really felt rushed by other optometrists. Updated my review after I picked up my glasses. I'm really impressed with the quality of work they did with it. Dr also offered me blue light coating and it works so great! I don't have to wear a separate non prescription pair of glasses to block blue light. I think what's best of all is that my glasses arrived in less than 2 weeks! I also wanted to verify if what they saw in my right eye was accurate so I had a second opinion with an ophthalmologist. They did confirm that my eyes were asymmetric. Not a lot of optometrists open on a Sunday - this place was. I was a little worried about coming in granted my dog had just scratched my cornea, my eye was blood shot red and I could not open it. However I am so grateful that I did. Dr. Christine was able to see me right away she was able to take out dirt that was in the cut and provide me with the proper care. I decided to make an appointment here, because they take medi-cal/alameda alliance. The actual exam only took about 15 minutes. It was fine. Every single other eye exam I've had at other offices have been much longer due to eye dilation. The doctor said I didn't need it because of my age, but I left feeling like she was trying to rush since there was another person that needed help with purchasing glasses. I called to make an appointment for a weekday. They wanted to schedule me for a Saturday so I agreed to it even though I don't like weekend appointments as they are usually more crowded and delayed. I was only the third appointment of the day but the doctor was over 30 minutes late. She was very friendly, and apologized for being late so it was fine. However, she didn't perform a glaucoma test for me which was surprising given that it has been five years since my last eye exam. When I asked her why she didn't dilate my eyes she said she can do it if I want to but she doesn't think I need it because I am so young. I'm in my mid-40s. I wanted to do a thorough exam and I don't know what other tests she may have left out. I remember a couple of other tests that were done at previous eye exams that she didn't perform. She had other patients waiting and I think she was trying to rush me out given her previous appointment had run so late. My entire appointment took less than 15 minutes. read more

I had an eye exam yesterday and the staff or rather the doctor was amazing. She saw absolutely no signs of glaucoma just like my original Optometrist I had seen since I was nine years old, nearly 3 decades ago. Yet the new owner of his practice, Dr. Ngyuen at eyebright optometry is intentionally over billing insurance companies for glaucoma tests that are not necessary. I will definitely be coming here again, very hygienic and has far more state of the art technology than eyebright optometry does. Outstanding service, clean, friendly, the best you could ask for. Dr. Christine Liao is fantastic! I have gotten a pair of glasses and contact lenses (on two different occasions) from here and both experiences were great. I was able to get an appointment within 2-3 days of calling them. Dr. Christine makes you feel very comfortable and performs the eye examination thoroughly. They have a good variety of glasses and they let you take your own sweet time to choose one (if you are like me, and have a hard time deciding :P). They also take multiple insurances which is a plus. I called Thursday and got a Saturday appointment! They took my vision insurance which was great! All set to go! Saturday I arrived a little early and filled out the paperwork, everything was organized. The nice man showed me around the glasses and frames whilst he processed my paperwork. Made a lot of sense since last time I visited an optomotrist they showed me frames after I was dilated so I couldn't see a thing! Not this place though! Their frames are great and extremely reasonable, a lot of designer brands! Dr Liao was very approachable and friendly. She was very thorough and knowledgeable. She took great care of me and found that I was at risk from a potential eye problem in the future! She referred me straight away to an Ophthalmologist! I only had an eye exam 2 years ago and this was never found. Due to this fabulous optometrist with such expertise in her field, I can now closely monitor my eyes and take preventative measures to care for my eyes! I was thrilled with her, she is so wonderful. I will continue to go here because she knows her stuff and I feel I am in great hands! My son will visit next! Thank you for taking such good care of me. Unfortunately I learned the hard way that yelp doesn't always know best. I am not sure how she received so many 5 star ratings but I assure you she didn't earn them. I used my vision insurance to have an eye exam as well as order eyeglasses. This is my 5th pair of progressive lenses. She was more than happy to up-sell me on every thing she could. I ended up paying $400 out of pocket on top of what the insurance covered. When my eyeglasses were ready I picked them up and immediately felt nauseous when putting them on. She told me I just needed to get used to them. I took them home and after three days of feeling ill and dizzy I went back. She insisted it was me and not the glasses. I explained to her that I had never had a problem having glasses made before and that something was wrong with the prescription. She looked at the glasses and again insisted they were fine. I asked her how we resolve this. I was out $400 and had a pair of glasses that I couldn't use. Again it was me and not the glasses. She told me that 20% of people can't wear progressives because they feel sick. I again explained to her that this was my 5th pair of progressives and that wasn't the problem. Long story short this business doesn't guarantee you will leave with glasses you can see with. Her ego is big and she cannot admit when she makes mistakes. I will not be returning and I hope you heed this warning. Apparently the paperwork she has you sign upon arriving states that all sales are final and there are no refunds or returns no matter what the issue is. What a terrible way to do business. Valley VisionOptometry is the best place I've been to for eye exam and glasses. I was able to call on a Saturday and get an appointment same day! all other places I called had a two week wait just to get an exam. Dr Liao was very thorough and knowledgeable. She was able to recognize dry eye damage and advise me on how to try and correct it. I had LASIK done over 12 years ago and never really noticed that my eyes were no longer at 20/20. Dr. Liao was able to get me the best prescription and help me pick out the best looking frames for me. She even got me my glasses in 4 days! I came here because I was due for an eye exam. This was my first time at this location but certainly my last. The exam itself was pretty fast but my new prescription was soooo off. It's been a few weeks and my glasses still give me really bad headache which is how I know I got the wrong prescription because it has never taken me this long to get used to New glasses. I'm sure everyone who has to buy new glasses , especially when you pay out of pocket, knows how expensive it is to get new glasses. So it's just irritating that I got the wrong prescription because I haven't been able to wear my glasses comfortably at all. I also wanna add, the day of my exam I tried to show the doctor my old prescription and how different it was to the new one. I just wanted her to explain in what areas my vision had gotten better or worse and she completely disregarded me. Went for annual exam previous year and it was okay. Nothing exceptional. (I asked if prescription lenses were ANSI Z87.1 rated and Dr. Liao was clueless.) Scheduled annual exam for myself and two kids on a Thursday at 5pm. Despite scheduling those three exams, and having a fourth one at 6pm, Dr. Liao decided to accept a drop-in patient who ran well into our scheduled time. After waiting 20 minutes with no end in sight I decided to leave. Why give your money to someone who doesn't think your time is valuable, and is willing to let you suffer just to chase an extra dollar? Time to take my business elsewhere. read more

I went in on 9/17 at 10 am because my eye was hurting terribly and this was the only optometry near my house that was open on a Sunday. I had no appointment, just arrived when they opened. Dr. Christine was super nice and helpful, she had a packed schedule for the entire day, but squeezed me in before the first customer of the day. She did a full exam and explained exactly what was causing my eye pain. I was even able to order a pair of glasses before I left. Of all the optometrist I have visited, she has by far been the only one who I would (see ;) myself coming back to time and again. A true gem with over 30 years of experience in the field.
