Well, I was looking for a new optometrist as mine has retired. This is not the place I will ever go back to. I will say first that everyone was polite, but their policies are ridiculous and taboot my prescription is wrong. After my exam, I asked for my PD and was told oh, we don't give that out unless you buy our glasses. Are you kidding! I have never been told that by an optometrist after paying for an exam, especially for such an easy measurement. Withholding that from me was mindblowing. Anyway, I order my glasses from Costco and Costco says, how are they. My reply, terrible. I am 8 feet away from a sign that is fuzzy. So now I place a call back to the office to say something is not right with the prescription thinking they will say, oh, please, come back in and let's see what might be wrong. Instead I get, well, you can come back for a recheck, but we are going to charge you $45 if nothing changes. Okay, that's a threat I can do without, especially since it's been 30 days since I received the prescription. My thought is that they will say, no, we checked again and this is your prescription just to make the extra money. This place is going to nickle and dime you for anything they can. Find someone else, people, that will work with you! read more

More than 10 years ago I was in search for optometrists who could address my eye concerns. I was 95% contact lens wearer that wore them more than recommended in the day (sometimes sleeping in them) resulting in some scaring, infection and dryness. I realized I had to see doctors that were serious about eye health and could educate me on how I could take care of it. I also had a hard time being fitted for contacts because of my astigmatism. And my prescription being high. My first visit with Dr. Quang was great. She looked at my eyes and addressed all my concerns. I told her that my ultimate goal was to get my eyes healthy enough for Lasik in the future. There began my journey. She suggested different lenses, gave me a bunch to try until I found a comfortable pair. She also addressed my eye dryness and health by suggesting to take a supplement of Omega -3, flaxseed or fish oil (which has helped my eye health a lot) and well as using sterile drops. My experience with Dr. Ozawa was the same. I battled with eye issues for a long time. Having a foreign object in your eyes all the time is not good for you. So, Dr. Ozawa suggested I consider wearing my glasses more often. My personal suggestion: If you wear contacts, I suggest that you do a 2-4 week lens option AND a daily option. 1) they are great to have on vacation. No need for travel size contact lens solution. 2) You can carry spares with so in case your main pair becomes uncomfortable or pops out. These two doctors got my eyes healthy enough to reach my goal of getting Lasik. I will definitely continue to go see them for my eye health. I highly recommend seeing Dr. Quang and Dr. Ozawa. Especially if you have eye health concerns or always seem to have trouble with your contact lenses fitting. Take care of your eyes. Even if you don't wear glasses or contacts. Add-on: Their eyeglass collection is PHENOMENAL! They have ALL the luxury brands and affordable options as well. Use that insurance and get yourself a pair of quality glasses. read more

This review is belated. We have been coming here for years. We come for Dr. Quang. Period. She has a kind, patient, attentive way about her, but don't let that fool you. She is all business and serious when she does her examining. She has a great sense if humor and she goes out of her way to make you feel comfortable. Today we had our annual exam and we were a little thrown off because there were new people we didn't recognize. My husband was not happy at all, especially since he thought it was a new practice and he wasn't sure if Dr. Quang was still there. He was ready to walk out, but we saw Ronda. Thank God a familiar face and she graciously agreed to do his initial tests. We found out Brenda retired, so another staff member we liked is gone. It all worked out. Did not like the service I encountered today over the phone. I called to schedule an appointment because I saw the sign at the door to do so, however I asked politely to see if I can just come in to drop my frames off to order prescription lens because they already have my prescription and I also ordered before. Receptionist said she would call me back when she was done with lady in front. I thanked her and said I would be waiting for her call back. Hence I was outside in my car the entire time and I can see what's going on inside. There was no customer inside. I patiently waited for 40 minutes to call back, but no one answered. I decided to leave and decided to return on my appointment date as scheduled. As I was leaving I also see the workers leaving, hence this was 40 minutes before closing. Rhonda helped me to find the right glasses and adjusted the glasses for me like 6-7 times when I picked it up. She is very good at her job. I also love the eye doctor here. After 7 years, I still have my bifocals. It's a little bit scratched up but it's still in one piece. The construction of the frame is a great quality! Ive been going to CV Optometry for about 12 years now. I came because I had no choice on the matter, my parents go there and by default so did I. The optometrist were all nice, the staff was very rude, but at the tender age of 14 I had not even given that a thought. Flash back to the present. My employer recently changed on November so I have a new allowance for frames and lenses for this year that expires in roughly 2 months. I already have prescription eyewear and prescription contacts, so I decided to see if I could get some sunglasses. The staff on duty at that point told me I could not, So I looked at other places to do this. When I found a place that would do this for me they told me I had to release my insurance from this place (I did not even tell them that I would use my insurance here). And when I called they transferred me to some lady that basically was berating and lecturing me while being very RUDE. On top of that she hung up on me. Well there goes a loyal customer, Good job CV Optometry. You are 4 minutes away from my house, have great opticians, right next to my bank, my dentist, and my grocer. You are so convenient, yet so rude, on principle I will have to take my business elsewhere. read more

0 star for receptionists, 5 stars for doctors. The front desk ladies are very unpleasant to work with. Their attitude and demeanor is appalling. They don't look up and smile to greet their customers. They rarely call to inform that my order is ready. One time they swapped the left and right prescription for my glasses. A few months ago i asked about my order, they were going to check on it and ask the doctor, and let me know. I still haven't gotten a call back. I dont know how the other reviews in here are positive for such awful services. The doctors are outstanding and very knowledgeable. I have been going to them for the passed 5 years. I've been to a few optometrists in my past and none have come close to Dr. Ozawa. We had sort of an eye emergency and they fit us in between appointments and I must say, Dr. Ozawa was the most diligent, patient, thorough, informative, and caring eye doctor I've come across. We don't have insurance and the price was way below your typical $100+ optometrist fee, very surprising. These doctors truly care about their patients. I've been coming here for as long as I can remember -- I used to sit on my Mom's lap while I got my eyes checked and I'm 27 now. It's been years since I've gotten my eyes checked and it's something I've been putting off because my eyesight has been good (no corrective lenses needed!) and I've been really busy. When I finally decided to make a check up appointment, I decided to drive all the way from my place in SF back to Castro Valley just to visit Dr. Sequeira. According to my records, it's been almost four years since my last appointment, and even then, he remembered me AND the rest of my family. He's such a great optomotrist and knows exactly what he's doing. He's also very open to answering any questions (he asked if I had any questions multiple times throughout my 45 minute appointment). He's also very personable, asking what I was up to these day and inquiring about any potential hazards to my eyes (long hours at the computer, completing paperwork, working in the labs, etc). The front desk staff is also pretty nice and efficient. I found an optometry place down the street from my place in SF AFTER I made my appointment in Castro Valley, so I was considering changing my optometrist; however, after reminding myself why I frequent the Castro Valley Optometry Group, with this visit, I'm not sure I'll want to switch my optometrist! read more

I brought my entire family here on a recommendation. When I picked up my contacts, not only did they arrive a week later than planned, they were incorrectly labeled. I didn't make a big deal about it because I knew my prescription and just switched them myself. When my husband ordered his glasses, they came in much later than he was told, and my son's glasses had to be returned and reordered because of some sort of mistake. For some reason, we decided to give them another chance this year. This week, I had to reschedule an appointment for my son. Brenda, the receptionist, was very kind, but informed me that there would be a $25 fee to reschedule. She wanted to help, but came back on and informed me that the Dr was adamant that they charge the fee. While I understand that there's "policy," and ultimately I made the mistake double booking our son for simultaneous appointments, this type of inflexible reaction is not the kind of business I want to support. I, my husband and three glasses-wearing children are now in the market for a business that won't forego hundreds of dollars worth of business for a $25 "chair time" charge, especially since I wasn't cancelling compliant I wasn't a simple no show. Not to mention, there were no saline freebies or cleansing cloths with our orders! I like freebies, what can I say? read more

This is an awesome team! Last year, I went in just to look for glasses. I was greeted very warmly even though I was not a patient there. Looking for glasses is always a chore for me and it takes me a while to decide on what suits me best. Sometimes I may have to take a few trips back to narrow down my decision. They never got annoyed and treated my indecisive self the same way every time. I was so impressed with how I was treated that I decided to become a patient there. Now I'm even more impressed after having an exam because the knowledge that was displayed during my exam in terms of the longevity in the health of my eyes has set me on a new path. I left my optometrist after 25+ years... I decided to try this place. Initially I really liked it, the doctor was super nice and knowledgeable. The front desk ladies were really friendly and patient with me as they helped me pick out frames, even though I couldn't see anything because my eyes were dilated. Things were looking good... I was happy with my decision to switch. BUT... that was over a month ago and I haven't received my contacts yet. An email exchange with the office staff told me that they would take about a week to arrive. I also left several phone messages and a couple emails about rescheduling my daughter's appt... none of which were returned. Although the staff was friendly and patient, their communication stinks! Every time I try to call, it goes to voicemail... if I leave a message, it is not returned. I need my contacts! I guess I just keep waiting... ugh. read more
