All steps from booking the appointment to scheduling the eye exam and the eye exam were all quite quick. They were quick and concise to answer my questions, checked on the health of my eyes and gave me my updated prescription. I came back a second time a week later for a more thorough exam and they had very informative spiels regarding their treatments. read more

Do not do business with this place. 2 years ago I spent $1200 buying new frames and progressive and transition lenses. A little over a year later the lenses started to discolor. As I didn't need a new Rx yet and I have to pay for them myself I waited until I got my new Rx from my ophthalmologist in July 2026. When I went in to Bell they called the lab and was told I probably got a bad batch. Should have walked out then. Got my new RX with progressive/transition lenses using my 2 yr old frames. I paid $900. #1 they were delayed because the AR (anti reflective ) coating was defective Ok so at least they caught it. When my glasses finally came in the site line was at the top of the lens not the middle. So NO ONE checked at the lab or when they arrived at the shop!! They had to be sent back and now we have Labor Day weekend so maybe I'll get them by next Thursday. In the meantime I'm having a very difficult time without my glasses. You have been warned. I only wish yelp had 0 stars read more

Great experience at Bell Vision Optometry. The staff was friendly, and Dr. Nguyen was very professional, thorough, and took the time to explain everything clearly. I never felt pressured into getting glasses or anything I didn't need. Definitely recommend them! read more

This is the first optometrist I've ever gone to. The office is located in Pelton Plaza which is a small shopping area in downtown San Leandro. The office is in the corner but unfortunately parking can sometimes be very difficult to find. If there is parking, it's metered at about $1.50 per hour. The office itself is pretty small with four chairs for waiting and I think two or three cubicle-like exam rooms. The desk staff are usually pretty nice and accommodating, although I will say I've previously interacted with someone there who seemed really impatient with me which I didn't appreciate (not sure if they still work there now). The optometrists themselves are very professional and understanding, I've worked with two of them before and both were kind and explained everything to me that I needed to know! También ellos tienen traductoras por hispanohablantes. Since the office is small, the selection of glasses was small, too. I've gone before and they had almost no glasses on display, but today they had a bigger selection, just not as much as other places I've seen. They have a variety of brands like Gucci, Versace, Mont Blanc, Prada, etc.. I think the staff can help you select frames that are not on display either since they can access the website of frames. Overall this place has good service for optometry but may be inconvenient to access and can feel cramped at times. The selection of frames on display is OK at best but if you are really picky about your frames, you may want to look elsewhere. read more

I had my eye exam here and decided to skip the contact lens exam. However after that, Dr. Nguyen started commenting on my makeup and lashes, which made the experience feel a bit awkward. On the bright side, the staff were friendly and professional! read more

They just moved to the Pelton plaza location in 2018 which is significantly smaller than their last location. It's pretty bare bones right now. The private rooms have curtains for doors. There's still boxes around. It's not a con, just something I noticed, but it may make others feel like it's sketchy. The optometrist that took me in could have had a better bed side manner, but she was thorough and straight to the point. Definitely took her time and didn't rush the appointment. The office staff were friendly. I showed the woman helping me the style of glasses that I wanted and she brought me about 10 pairs to try on. Didn't even try to sell me the most expensive ones, she was genuinely trying to help. They also have a decent selection of glasses as well. read more

This review is way overdue, so my apologies to Bell Vision Optometry. I've had countless optometrists over the years and Dr. Ko and Dr. Mai are among the best. I have a high prescription and have different concerns, but they were both thorough in making sure I had everything I needed. They were patient in explaining what they did and in answering my questions. I normally wear contacts but wanted to get a new pair of glasses, and Dr. Ko was really nice as she helped me select a pair I liked, and one that would work well with my budget and insurance. With each visit, I felt like Dr. Ko and Dr. Mai genuinely wanted to help me, which made eye exams a lot less painful =) I've never had a bad experience here and would highly recommend Bell Vision! read more

Awkward experience... First time here was to look at frames to possibly buy frames and lenses, if I found something I liked. I told them this over the phone prior to coming. Due Covid 19 one must make an appointment for anything, so I did. The front desk was abrupt when greeting me and stated she's not going to let me in until closer to 3 because she needed to clean the glasses due to Covid-19. Then when she had me seated at her desk and was going through the motions. I told her I just wanted to look at frames and she asked me if I wanted her to bring me frames to try on. It gets worse there wasn't really a selection of frames to choose from and all of the frames were in a tiny office behind the clerks desk's and you had to disrupt them while getting a pair each time. read more

Dr. Acharya is super nice and really cares about her patients! My experience getting my eyes checked was great! Bell Vision is following all the COVID rules and is super clean. They have really trendy frames (Gucci, Ray Bans, Tom Ford). Highly recommend! read more

Let's just say that I wasn't happy initially! (Long story to share here). I was told my glasses will be ready between 2 weeks and 3 months Well, to my surprise, I was called after 2.5 weeks, I was elated. Went there paid for parking, did the fitting and it was perfect in and out in less than 5 min. read more

Dr Mai is amazing! She is friendly and truly cares about her patients. They have a great selection of trendy glasses and sunglasses. I got two designer pairs and will def be going back! Check out their office and support local small business! read more

I had a wonderful experience with Bell vision. I booked an appt for the next day first thing in the morning. It was quiet but the staff was warm and accommodating. I saw Dr. Wong and he was so thorough and informative. It wasn't just "which looks better, lens 1 or 2?" He asked about my lifestyle, helped me determine what was normal and what wasn't (I described random blurry moments and said it sounded like dry eyes that could easily be remedied with eye drops) after my eye exam I was ushered to the frames section. I was helped by Emily and she was so helpful and knowledgeable. I wish she initially asked a little about my likes and dislikes and how I use my glasses and in what situations. She picked out a couple of frames for me from the high end. I quickly went thru them and gave her feedback on the frames. The next batch was much more curated. This experience of someone getting up and choosing frames that fit my face was so neat. It's nice to get that 3rd person perspective and try things you may never have thought to try for yourself. Thank you so much to Dr. Wong and Emily read more

Customer service is still alive and well!! Yari is outstanding! The rest of the staff was welcoming and friendly, and the Doc's were as well! Highly recommended! read more

I had gotten glasses with a prescription I got here, but they were too strong, so I called asking if they could recheck me. It was super easy to set up another appointment on the phone. When I got there, Dr. Mai was super kind and really went above and beyond in helping me get a better prescription. She told me if I had any trouble with my new prescription, to not hesitate in coming back. She's very sweet and the staff was very helpful as well, I really enjoyed my experience here. If you're looking for an optometry office that cares, this place is it. read more

I had severe glare and floaters . Dr Acharya was very patient with me answering all my questions and recommended I get my cataract surgery done which I did and now one eye is like new. She quickly made changes to my one eye prescription. I would highly recommend Bell Vision Optometry. I love this office! The doctors are great and the staff including. They offer great selection in frames, I've gotten a pair of sunglasses for my partner who loves it! Also I've gotten my own glasses which i always use. Ive been here many times and I'm never disappointed in the service! I will continue to come here! Definitely a place you should try! read more

I regret that i didn't take the initiative to tell them my glasses is for my daily reading computer purpose which normally asked by my optometrist. Now i got my glasses focusing on reading which would be off focus and headache for reading my computer. Also, it's funny that they will not provide break down invoice but just credit card receipt if you don't request for it. Strange, cos i wouldn't know how much has been covered by insurance and what i have being charged. read more

This place rocks, staff was very helpful scheduling an appointment and helping me (a virtually blind man) find this location! I had the pleasure of being seen by Dr. Wong. It was a crazy weekend and I didn't have my glasses or contacts that day so I was bat shit blind using echolocation to get around Oakland into the office. As I was using my superhuman abilities in the waiting office I overhear a sweet Dr. helping a child with their exam. She was great with relating to them, made them feel comfortable, and engaged. Next up was me, the Dr. I had been hearing was Dr. Wong! My first time coming here so I had no idea what to expect. She introduced herself and I told her my situation. She was very relatable and listened to my dilemma about being blind for a morning in a somewhat foreign city while traveling (I was supposed to go to an art installation later that day but wouldn't have been able to enjoy it so I opted to see Bell Vision Optometry instead). Dr. Wong is kind and knowledgeable and made me comfortable because she was easy to relate to. As I was fitting my sample contacts I began to notice that although I had washed my hands thoroughly, I still had some spice on my fingers from a 10/10 spicy papaya salad earlier that morning (a memorable moment for sure)! On my way out as I swipe my Visa, I hear her greeting her next client a teen, immediately doing her magic relating and really connecting. It was a great experience meeting Dr. Wong one of the (other memorable) highlights of that day for sure. Thanks Dr. Wong, thanks Bell Vision Optometry Staff! read more

I received fantastic service for my annual exam from Dr. Acharya. She was extremely personable and took the time to explain every step of the way in detail. All COVID-19 safety precautions were practiced in what was a super clean facility. Entire staff was friendly, and had fair pricing on their really trendy selection of frames as well :) Highly recommend Bell Vision Optometry and Dr Acharya to anyone needing eye care! read more

Had my annual eye check, Dr. Acharya and her team prioritized using my insurance and gave me excellent care. I also learned which eye drops are best for my needs, I like slightly whiter eyes. I was using drops that made them pretty dry and Dr. Acharya suggested I use drops that would address what makes my eyes a little bit red without drying them out. The new eye drops are perfect! I was also able to select a pair of super cute glasses and was able to get all kinds of add ons that my insurance covered. Thank you Dr. Acharya! read more

I have been going here for years and although my doc (Epstein) retired, Dr. Ko was extremely nice and performed a detailed exam. This yelp review was inspired by "Shamila" the kind young lady who fitted and helped me find my frames. I appreciated her professionalism and assistance. Fast forward to me returning to pay for my frames (the balance my insurance did not cover); coupled with me losing my phone minutes before, feeling discombobulated and lost myself without it! "Jesus" offered me the use of their phone, but with today's technology I knew NO ONES number aside from my own!! I press the name. I know not ANY phone numbers :-( As I tried in vain, "Vanessa" attempted to assist the frustrated, flustered me as I lost the outside line connection. Resigned that my phone was lost forever and ready to pay for my glasses which is why I came in, Shamila asked to measure my glasses one more time before sending them to the Lab. I was upset and in a hurry to maybe recover my phone. I sighed, groaned, I think I may have even sworn? She continued to measure my frames (you know how close we have to be for that?) with a professional mannerism and smile. They were all smiling...expect me :-( I requested a receipt, they were moderately busy and a wait was asked. Well, I was LOST IN SPACE without my phone (NO UBER home, no come and pick me up - I knew no ones phone number, which will change!) What a shame! So, I kinda STORMED OUT! When I recovered my phone later that evening from the driver who dropped me off, she said she return to the office, but I had already left. She went on to say how concerned and kind the staff were in their attempts to contact me...but I did not have my phone. In conclusion, it is easy to be nice when folks are nice in return, but what about when they are an upset, discombobulated grizzly bear?? Bell Vision Optometry staff: Still nice and professional...THANKS YOU GUYS!!! :-))) read more

Pleasant experience. Charisse was very nice and helpful in helping my husband and I pick out a pair of glasses that we both liked. I'm not happy with my experience at Bell vision Optometry. I don't recommend anyone coming here at all. At first it seemed nice, doctor Mai was polite. The exam went well. But then when it was time to choose my frames, one of the clerks (blonde Mexican lady) assisted me. She wouldn't let me look at the frames myself. Instead, she CHOSE THE FRAMES FOR ME. It was very annoying and she just sat there staring at me the whole time I was trying on the horrid frames she brought out to me. It made me VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. Finally I was stern and told her I would feel better if I just looked around. She left me to it after an excruciating 30 minutes of "picking frames for me". As I'm looking around I couldn't help the feeling of being watched. So, I turned around and all the clerks were just staring...it was super uncomfortable! Never had to deal with anything like that. Normally you just walk around and look for yourself. Finally! I found the perfect fit and frame for my face. I let the girl from before know and she asked me to sit down and look at her. She carelessly marked the lenses of the frame to where she thought my pupils were. And that was that! I felt it was off and asked her if she was sure the markings were accurate to my vision...glasses were ordered. Weeks later I pick up my new frames! And I come to find as the days pass my vision isn't adjusting. The prescription was placed way too low on the lenses. So everything was blurry/smeared. After a week or so I come back and ask if they could fix them. I apologized for the trouble and they don't even try to apologize for messing up my lenses. I had to repeat my self over an over for them to listen to me and resend the lenses to be remade. I wish I could just return them and get my money back because still the prescription on the lenses is soo off. This has and is the worst experience I've had with an optometry! Never come Here! read more

Got an eye prescription. With an eye patch for my son. We re very happy to get such a wonderful treatment by this clinic.

I called in and wanted to check how much I would have to pay to get my eye exam. The lady who picked up the phone was rude and has an attitude. She placed me on hold several times and I was like I am done with this place. Please train your receptionist on how to speak properly to potential customers. read more

Needed a new optometrist and thanks to Yelp, I found Bell Vision. So far I have had three appointments with Dr Ko and I couldn't be happier. She is quick, nice and very informative. I'll definitely be returning for my yearly eye exams. *They also have a large selection of designer frames, which is plus read more

The staff is very unorganized. After my appt with Dr the technician spent 12-15 mins with a sales rep while I sat there. I finally left. I explained I would I bring a pair of frames in for the lens and was told to call prior to. I called, left a message asking for a call back to make such arrangements, waited a week...no call. I drop by and was treated like I had leprosy, and told we take you right now you need to call and make an appt... oh like the time I called a week ago. Good bye Bell Vision, easy money with a family of 4 that get glasses and eyes checked every year! Go somewhere else. read more

This business has not followed through and we had to pay out of pocket for the glasses. It is now the end of January and this has been going on since September of 2021. The staff here was friendly and efficient. The optometrist was really thorough about my vision.

This place is fraud they literally told me that I get 20% off on main brands like Gucci etc etc , when I chosen my glasses they all of sudden said we will give u 30% off if u give us a good review, I was like no problem but when I was about to post it the handicap lady that help me with my paper work presented to me and it only stated 10% off so I was confused and ask what happened to my 30 % discount, she gave me a odd look and said ohh i added it already but it only wrote 10% on paper work. -the glasses I chose is 390$/ price they wrote on paper 345$ n some change. Said my lens is free etc and basically paying for frame...Crazy part is they said not to use my insurance? And prefer to do it without? Very unprofessional and sad . They lack of helping me find glasses and there services is very bad . I hope they shut this place down . Strongly advise not to go here pls go some were else . read more

I had never had an eye exam until I came here and my first experience was great! Dr Ko was super friendly and explained things so I could understand. I didn't have any problems with my vision so I didn't need glasses but I was able to get a beautiful pair of Tom Ford sunglasses. The staff were helpful in finding a pair that fit my face :) Also, the optometrists know what they are doing. Dr Ko was able to catch lingering shingles in my dad's eye. Definitely recommend. Mind you this appointment was for my 2 year olds first eye exam so we didn't know how it would go, the girl at the front desk was awesome. She let my daughter pick a toy out of the box and even gave her some sticker and a piece of paper after her eye dilation. The dr was also great.
