Our very first time here and the food was awesome. We usually travel elsewhere to eat good sushi, but decided to try this place and we're glad we did. Food tasted fresh and had amazing flavors. Being from the bay area we know places don't have to be big and fancy to be delicious and authentic all of the best foods in the bay area are like that. This is the best sushi restaurant that I've been to. The food is amazing and beyond my expectations. My food for to me so fast, such great service. They really know how to keep up with me too make sure that my drinks stay full and don't interrupt too much while I'm eating. The ambiance is awesome as well, I love the character of the establishment. I'm really big on uniqueness that a restaurant has and this place definitely is unique. Especially the sushi chef, Jacob Charles, when he gives you his creations you can tell he puts all of his effort and attention into every detail. I feel bad leaving this review, but I gave this place another chance recently. The waitress was unfamiliar with the types of Sushi, but I felt like she tried hard so I tipped her well for her efforts. I was so disappointed with the Sushi however! First of all, they were out of hamachi, scallops, mackerel, Uni, oysters (I understand that oysters and Uni are hard hard to keep in stock) and then the cucumber salad, nigiri, and hand rolls that I did order were so not exciting. I mean, the cucumber salad, add some tobiko or maybe some sesame seeds to your cucumber salad to give it some extra something. The hand rolls (lobster hand roll had like 3 miniature pieces of lobster and the rest was shredded crab) it could have used some green onion or avocado or tobiko. The tuna hand roll was literally 2pcs of sliced tuna and some slices of cucumber and sushi rice. It was so disappointing. Then, there was an conversation going on between what I assumed was a father (investor) and his Son that got pretty heated. I am assuming that the Father was disappointed in the sales or the commitment of the Son because there was a lot of "I am busy all day" stuff coming from the Son. Unfortunately there is something going awry here and it's really too bad. I liked what I tasted a year ago. I hope they can get it together for all their sakes. read more

Found this place the other day, and have now been twice. Great sushi and the vibe (for take out only) makes me yearn for indoor dining. I highly recommend the Geisha Roll - it's one of the best rolls I've had anywhere. Even more impressive, my wife who doesn't eat sushi found a roll that she loves and Samurai Sushi has converted her into a sushi lover. We will be back. read more

I absolutely love this sushi place. They have been our go to for as long as I can remember. They have the absolute best customer service especially right now during the pandemic. We went in to order for takeout and they were busy with take out orders so the wait was a little longer which we didn't mind but they apologized to every single person for the wait. This place was delicious! Me and my wife went today and omggg the ambiance is so cool! They had Naturo playing when we walked in and they had so many sushi specials. There's three gorgeous men who work there! So hot all of them omgggg. Saki bombs were hella fun! Now the sushi rolls I ordered were fucking delicious!!!! I got the baked lobster roll and it was yummy! Prepared so well and the presentation was outstanding. My second roll I got because the first was so good sex bomb roll! Hella good!!! Huge fan! The three men were all very kind and sweet. Great smiles. Good conversations. My wife got a thick noodle soup I can't remember it's name but she said it was delicious! Let me tell you, the first time I had sushi here was with a couple of girlfriends that brought me here. I probably would've never discovered it on my own. This place is great! As soon as you walk in your gaze immediately captures the great Japanese decor! It's like traveling into a little nook in Japan! I love it! The couple who are the owners are so nice! Plus you can almost visualize him as a samuri warrior and the lovely woman as a geisha, they're so enchanting! About the food, they have a variety of sushi rolls and hand rolls! All of them with a great description so you know what your getting. I've made it a goal to try a different one every time I'm there and every time it's a 10/10. Fantastic! This place might not have all yhe best sushi in town, it has many rolls seen few other places and many are worth trying. Downsides: order from Doordarshan and expect 0 explanation of composition of rolls, or anything really. This is ok for the adventurous who have no allergies or diet restrictions but might also lead to being underwhelmed as well. The entrées are not all as big as you may think. More appetizers really. This is also misleading as their poke bowl is 2/3 the price as other places and not only under half the amount but underwhelmed flavor and composition. Again no contents listed so walked into that. We would come often under the previous owners. The mother and father were kind and would always remember us. When I called to place an order, the person on the phone was quite rude and asked if I was ordering off the old menu. I didn't know there was a new menu so it could have been presented differently. Following this interaction I came to pick up my food and the same person who was on the phone was extremely rude to another employee as he was assisting him with orders. It was like he was completely beneath him. This disappointed me as the previous owners took pride in having a positive environment. They do get busy but they are well worth the wait. Under new ownership and I'm unfortunately disappointed. My fiancé and I both have celiac and we ordered 4 tuna rolls, a salmon roll, and one salmon hand roll with no sauce on any as a to-go order. I told the waitress that we had a gluten allergy. Got home and realized that the salmon handroll had sauce on it. The menu never mentioned sauce so I don't know if it was safe. This was a really nice place to eat. It was our first time here. The server was nice and everyone that I interacted with was polite. As we were sitting there waiting for our food, we overhead a regular come in ( a couple) and the owner( I assume) and his wife were talking to the couple tand he was recommending sushi they should try since they knew what they liked. Staff are always friendly and helpful, the chefs are skilled and the sushi reflects that. The restaurant has been updated in terms of decor and menu, even bringing in some updated ramen and Japanese beers other than Sapporo and Orion.
