cars parked in a parking lot

We were on the road a bit early, and our stomachs began to grumble. It was definitely time to find a breakfast spot! I saw that Sam's Restaurant was a few miles away, and we decided to give them a try. They are right off the 90, and they have a large car port attached where you can park your vehicle. We were greeted and were told to sit anywhere we would like - we chose a booth by the window. The menu serves breakfast all day, various dinner plates, and even kid options. We ordered: +Chicken Fried Steak - this came with two eggs, hashbrowns or fried spuds, and a choice of toast, biscuit, an English muffin or a small pancake; opted for fried spuds and a pancake +a Denver Omelet - this came with two eggs, hashbrowns or fried spuds, and a choice of toast, biscuit, an English muffin or a small pancake; opted for the hashbrowns and toast I was craving for a good chicken fried steak, but unfortunately, this one was overfried and didn't taste good - it seemed very crumbly and may have been deep-fried in old oil? I stuck with the fried spuds and the eggs. The omelet was enjoyed, as it was a large generous portion, filled well with the ingredients. The pancake was a little dry. This is definitely a local spot, and it seems as if the residents of the area come here often for meals. This may be your only option in the area, unless you're willing to drive longer to get to the next nearest (larger) town. +avoid the Chicken Fried Steak! +generous portions for breakfast +friendly staff +plenty of parking in the front

Two young lads enjoying there meal.

This place is great. Top 3 restaurant of all time. Would have spent the night here if they let me. Came twice in one day and hit the spot twice. WOW. Would be 6 stars if I could.

Friday lent dinner at Sam's

An impromptu stop on our way to st Marie's Idaho from St. Louis, Mo. This is an old fashioned diner! We ordered shrimp dinner which came with 2 sides , soup and salad bar. Soup was New England clam chowder and very good. Since it was 3/14 Pi day we took pie to go! 4 selections ! Coconut cream, chocolate satin, strawberry rhubarb and apple pie! Staff was so pleasant and helpful! Definitely would stop again!

A small hometown family restaurant with good food, friendly staff and good prices. It's a Friday night and this place was steady the whole time I was here. I had the Patty melt which was pretty darn good, it came with a side of fries that were good but I like mine a little on the crispy side (you can also choose tots or homemade onion rings if you choose) and soup or salad. I chose soup because it was Friday and I love clam chowder which was also good with nice size bites of clam and potato. Lastly I had a fantastic huckleberry milkshake Looking forward to going here for breast tomorrow seeing as I am staying right next door at the Silver Mountain Resort (also nice)

It was amazing. Went on two occasions and hit the spot both times. Serving size is great and for the price. Service was inviting and the atmosphere was just impeccable

Clubhouse sandwich with those same greasy onion rings

This place is right next door to the Silver Inn hotel. If you stay in this hotel, do not, I repeat, do not eat here. It's probably not a coincidence that there's an emergency clinic across the street because you may need their services if you decide to eat here. The first thing you notice upon entering is the overwhelming odor of mold and grease. It's nauseating. The tables are sticky as well. Service is fine, food not so much. Our BLT had one meager slice of bacon and the onion rings were so greasy that they left a puddle in the bottom of the basket. The clubhouse sandwich was okay. From what I saw on the menu I would say that most of the lunch items are fried. We couldn't eat the onion rings at all and while I did eat my sandwich it didn't sit well at all. We did not try the breakfast menu, so this review is for lunch only

Eggs Benedict is very yummy but the gut buster has become my favorite. The gravy is delicious and the biscuits are light and fluffy. If you hate dry biscuits give these a shot. Service is always warm, friendly, fast, and attentive. I find myself now looking forward to running errands out this way so I can stop in for a meal. Best breakfast in this area hands down.

For a road side restaurant I was so impressed how comfortable and very welcoming the staff was. Seat yourself, menus at the table. The server was extremely friendly and was very patient with the other picky people in my group. I went for it with the Chicken Fried Steak. This was a feast salad and soup included along with a baked potato veggies and dinner roll. The batter was cooked to perfection the gravy was authentic country gravy. Delicious food! This was enough to split but I wasn't sharing. Save room for dessert or Huckleberry Milk shake. They also offer Take -out very convenient. Oh yeah and Breakfast all day!

Service was good, restaurant was clean but the food was marginal. My Western Burger was over cooked, black and almost inedible. I think if I were to come back I'd try breakfast.

Convenient to the 90. Breakfast food was average. Potatoes (they called them spud potatoes) were delicious. Service was average.

After spending the morning on winter tubing down Silver Mountain, our group…read moreof 7 was ready for a bite and a brew. We arrived around 1230PM, and the restaurant was relatively dead - which can be a plus for those seeking a food spot at the base of the mountain, rather than the top. Our server welcomed us and led us to a larger table which fit our party perfectly, directly near the windows to witness the snow falling. He allowed us to search the menu before taking our orders. We opted for rounds of water and brews for the adults and sprite/juice for the kiddos. I was impressed by the massive NA beer list, which was lengthy and filled with variety. I chose the Deschutes hazy IPA which was tasted perfect! My sister and cousin opted for seasonal beers and seem happy with their choices. Seeking something warm for the belly, I opted for a burger - loaded with locally made huckleberry jam, bacon and cheese - which was average at best. The burger was overcooked, leaving the meat dry and lacking flavor. The fries on the other hand, were delicious and double fried. YUM! The kids were mildly impressed with their meals, while my sister, cousin and her husband seemed to enjoy their burgers. We had to remind our server about the need for water, sides of ranch and ketchup (since nothing was on the table) and split our checks in the end with no issue. Pricing was slightly elevated - but expected in a resort type atmosphere - but for the quality, I left like EH. I didn't take the remaining half of my burger with me but left with a full belly. If in the area again for an outing, I think I'd try elsewhere before returning.

The…read moreKingston Hilltop was a pleasure when it came to finding a variety of the standard fare at a reasonable price. I had the CFS with white gravy and fries. The fry sauce was top of the line and the CFS was up there in quality. Momma's fish and chips were cooked without excess oil and I believe they were cod. She did substitute sweet potato fries that seemed to please her, but be aware there is an upcharge. Our friend had a standard fare hamburger with the tasty high quality beef that was hanging over the edges of the bun. The beer selections were limited, but well varied so you will find something you like. My point is that while this is an off the beaten path eatery, it is worth the detour!

There are some wonderful pictures of the old miners that the building has been dedicated to. We came a little after lunch time but there were still several tables with diners. They also have a nice bar and additional outdoor dining. Our waitress, Liz A. was fantastic. She was quick to great us and take our orders. When we were ready to leave, hubby wanted a shirt and she brought out one to make sure the size and color was right. She also gave us a bag for our to-go boxes as the meals were big. And a plastic cup with a lid and straw for fresh ice tea to go. And to the food - we enjoyed every bite. We both had the black and blue wraps. They are big and loaded with plenty of delicious tender meat, veggies, and blue cheese. I had tater tots that were perfectly crispy and Liz brought out a big condiment tray with squeeze bottles for them. He ordered the Blue Cheese Garlic Fries - which were also crispy and packed with yumminess. Very happy we stopped here. They are currently open 7 days a week and you will not be disappointed
