Decided to come here based on all the good reviews. Although the drinks we ordered were really good, the server, was super rude (young blonde gal). She was so rude and snotty, we closed out after one drink and continued on to somewhere else. I don't mind tipping but when she demanded a 20% tip when I handed her my card, that's where I draw the line. Place had potential, but I'm not spending money where the sever is rude. read more

Food was okay, my second time in three years here. First time would have been a 5. This time, food was okay, polish dog good but pasta salad had no flavor at all and service abysmal. Bartender was too busy chatting with young locals that were in the bar to proceed any kind of service. Will dine elsewhere in my future visits to Wallace. read more

In town for the Gyro festival, walking around and stopped in for a drink and a snack and damn glad I did. There's plenty of room inside and a few seats outside with some of the friendliest staff in all of north Idaho. Had a Bloody Mary that my bartender made just right as well as a few other beers. Also go the cooks take on a gyro that was absolutely amazing and my wife loved. I got the chili with chips and it was spot on! Great little snack when you're drinking. We needed up coming back later on with a new set of bartenders and they were just as friendly. Overall a super rad place with good food, drinks and staff. read more

We stopped by Wallace for a quick bite and to break up our drive and stumbled upon Cogs after being turned away by another restaurant. Their menu is small (3 sandwiches when we went) but the two we ordered were good and perfect for our needs. The hostess/waitress was super friendly, and our food came out quickly. Walking around Wallace, trying to find a place for dinner shouldn't be this difficult. But, alas, Covid makes everything difficult and things usually shut down a bit earlier in a small place like Wallace. Fortunately, we walked in and found a large table away from a rather loud large group of tourists. Some of my choices were no longer available for the night, so brussel sprouts it is. We were pleasantly surprised at how well cooked and flavorful it was. Compliments to the chef! My pint of porter was a wonderful accompaniment. We finished the night with my first ever glass of Old Forester bourbon; OK flavor but I'll stick with my Buffalo Trace as my daily. Interesting decor with rather large can lights over the bar, no longer in use Humidor, and an antique pinball machine with no paddles. Great service and friendly staff to boot. read more

We came in for lunch and while the service was good, both of our meals were disappointing, especially given the $13 per lunch price tag. The place also smelled like smoke and there was no AC. We got the jezebel and gyro. The pork in the jezebel was tender, but the giant blobs of melted cheese hid any apricot horseradish. The house pickles were great. The gyro meat did not have any flavor, much less rosemary garlic, and there were numerous bites of pure gristle. The tzatziki and pickled onions were good. The grains were well cooked but bland. The gristly lamb was hard to get over. We have been to better places in town and would not return. read more

Gourmet-to-go! After a great dinner the night before, we stopped in to pick up some packaged meals for our road trip to Roosevelt Lake. Man! When we unwrapped our goodies at our campsite we were delighted with some real treats. A meze plate with a whipped cream cheese tatziki, homemade pickled peppers and hummus with peta - an outrageously delish chicken pot pie, an Italian sub, and the gracious chef added a super YUMMY strawberry cream cheese pie for us. Great place for a bite and some beers on a Friday night in Wallace. Lady behind bar was super fun to talk to. They have a smaller but great selection of draft beers - one for anyone's taste (I went with the cold smoke scotch ale... delicious). Was v hungry after a long day of skiing - had the chicken pot pie and the chili (they make different versions of chili - this was a southwest feel version and it was v good). We stopped in for a light lunch, and this small corner eatery fit the bill. Two large family-style tables, a few high-top tables by the window, and seating at the bar. It's dog friendly as long as the pet is on a leash. The menu was posted on a chalkboard. We shared a French baguette sandwich with Brie and ham that was quite good and a side of broccoli salad which was excellent. Our server was very friendly, and the prices are reasonable. On a Wednesday evening this was a one-man operation. The bartender/chef was friendly and he was hustling. There were two sandwich options; we both ordered the same one and it was tasty. We thought this place closed at 7pm re YELP. Luckily we walked by st 7:10 and found it open. The food was really good! My ahi poke bowl was excellent. As the greeter told us some menu items were not available due to supply problems I was afraid the ahi would not be fresh but I was delightfully surprised. A very nice light meal. Shared with husband the brussel sprouts and poke. Both super tasty and fresh ingredients. Due to Yelp having the wrong hours no-one else was here at 7:00 pm. We were looking forward to eating at Cogs Gastro Pub, specifically to try the "Idaho Gyro" at the end of our day hoping from various establishments and the reviews. Sadly we discovered the "lamb" was roast beef with no goat cheese or rosemary herbs as advertised. The sandwich was covered with tzatziki sauce and pickled onions, which was a bonus, but no Lamb so no go. I believe this was meant to cover up the lack of lamb or their shortage during the off season? We will not be returning to Cogs based on this shortcoming... Wallace has many other delicious restaurant options which we should have chose as our final foodie experience. read more

I have been to Cogs a few times and their tacos are delicious! The reason I am rating it the way I am is because I referred someone to order from them and they called to order and were told they were too busy and weren't taking anymore orders. I felt it weird and chalked it up to my friends ordering too late in the day. Then about a week later I tried to order a taco box at around 3:30 p.m. and was told the same thing. Their food is delicious but what good is that if you aren't given the chance to even order and are turned away? Hopefully they correct this since I haven't been back since that's happened since I don't feel needed as a customer. read more

We have been to Cogs many times these past couple years and always amazing food. Wallace is a great little town to relax and walk around then grab some food at Cogs! The ribs, street tacos and street corn are our favorite, even my kids love it. It's always hard to find places the kids will eat, but Cogs it our go to place. read more

If you happen To be in historic Wallace Idaho to go on the old Silver mine tour and you were needing something to eat I would highly recommend Cogs. We were walking by when Chef Nate was checking some pork butts that he was smoking outside the door. We stopped to ask him about the smoker and he was very helpful in explaining it's operation. I was asking because my son in law wants to purchase a pellet smoker. Chef uses a mixture of ******** and ***** wood pellets for his smoke. If you stop by I am sure he will share the mixture with you also. We walked past and I got another whiff of that butt smoking and told my wife I thought I was a little hungry and we should go back. I am Sooo glad we did. We are from the eastern US and tried pulled pork sandwiches in a lot of places and I will tell you this is the BEST one I have ever had. Chef Nate needs to get to pulled-pork cook off. He would be a sure fire winner. My wife had the Thi noodle salad and was impressed by the many different distinguishing ingredients and a huckleberry float. We were there during the huckleberry festival. Don't pass this place by. Service by Carley was exceptional also. Made us feel like we were in our own back yard. read more
