I gave 2 stars only because it was my wife's birthday. If it would have been any other day I would have given 1 star. Don't get the prime rib dip. You'll end up getting an onion sandwich with a little bit of diced up meat in it. I have never had a worst sandwich in my life. Took one bite and told them to take it back and then they only gave me a 30% discount and said that that's the way they make it. The bacon wrapped asparagus was pretty much all bacon. The asparagus was skinny and overcooked. At least the flavor was good. The drinks weren't good and the water was not drinking water. They should be using that water to wash the tables and that's about it. Unfortunately, I will never go back to the hilltop. And I've had plenty of good experiences there in the past. Once again, having Yelp's assistance in finding an out of the way eatery was invaluable. The Kingston Hilltop was a pleasure when it came to finding a variety of the standard fare at a reasonable price. I had the CFS with white gravy and fries. The fry sauce was top of the line and the CFS was up there in quality. Momma's fish and chips were cooked without excess oil and I believe they were cod. She did substitute sweet potato fries that seemed to please her, but be aware there is an upcharge. Our friend had a standard fare hamburger with the tasty high quality beef that was hanging over the edges of the bun. The beer selections were limited, but well varied so you will find something you like. My point is that while this is an off the beaten path eatery, it is worth the detour! read more

The restaurant we had planned to stop at is closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Lucky for us we found this gem. It will be 100 years old in 2027. There are some wonderful pictures of the old miners that the building has been dedicated to. We came a little after lunch time but there were still several tables with diners. They also have a nice bar and additional outdoor dining. Our waitress, Liz A. was fantastic. She was quick to great us and take our orders. When we were ready to leave, hubby wanted a shirt and she brought out one to make sure the size and color was right. She also gave us a bag for our to-go boxes as the meals were big. And a plastic cup with a lid and straw for fresh ice tea to go. And to the food - we enjoyed every bite. We both had the black and blue wraps. They are big and loaded with plenty of delicious tender meat, veggies, and blue cheese. I had tater tots that were perfectly crispy and Liz brought out a big condiment tray with squeeze bottles for them. He ordered the Blue Cheese Garlic Fries - which were also crispy and packed with yumminess. Very happy we stopped here. The food is good but the owners suck they don't have anything to do with the restraunt it's up to the employees to keep the restraunt running all you get from the owners is an additude if you call them and let them know when they problems. They take other employees hours away from them and give to other employees cause they want more hours. Treat their employees like shit. All they care about is the money to keep working on their house. They are horrible people to work for if ur not a kiss ass they let their cook with tattoos drink every day before during and after her shift she don't have to do anything but what she wants but anyone else would get their butts renamed good cause they weren't doing their job. WARNING DO NOT EORK FOR THEM THEY ARE VERY UNFAIR TO THEIR EMPLOYEES. it happened to me I got a message saying another wanted more hrs so I lost my hours. read more

My wife and I stopped in here for the first time; a landmark location having been here for 95 years. We were greeted by friendly staff and our beverages came right out. We shared the chicken fried steak, very tasty. We had cherry crisp for dessert, yummy. read more

I have camped on the North Fork of the Cda for nearly 30 years and can't believe I have missed out on this hidden gem. The food is fantastic! We shared a Reuben "Amy's" way and it was fantastic. The meat was thick cut and had a sweetish brine. The flavor was fantastic! Tots were great! But the catch is, the service is fantastic! Good, wholesome, locally raised, friendly people. Such a good cast of characters. I loved hanging with Jen and Judy. So fun! I will go back and enjoy this rustic, north Idaho gem. read more

I don't give 1 stars lightly, but the night I visited (8-17-19) was the worst service I've ever experienced...anywhere. Our group was there for over 3 hours and were waiting at least two for food. Also, our waitress had to take our order three times; pretty sure she was drunk, slurring her words and then the women's bathroom had puke everywhere!! The food that we did get was wrong and she continued to bring drinks to our table that we never ordered. We finally got decent service when the gal who was bussing tables saw what the drunk waitress was doing and intervened. I'm disappointed that management never sent her home, but allowed her to continue to serve guests. Sadly, I won't be visiting this establishment again. read more

I found a new favorite in the Silver Valley! I was welcomed warmly from the word go and had great service. The inside is nicely decorated, clean and accommodating. The staff are very nice but I wasn't impressed with the huckleberry rib tips at all; they said they were like boneless ribs and mine were mostly cartilage and some bones. I think I had more cartilage and bones than meat though the huckleberry bbq sauce was really good The saving grace was the seafood chowder. I got a bowl of it and it was amazing. It was a little busy but our server came back to check on us once at the end of the meal. You are only allowed one refill on sodas and mine had been empty all meal. Then I had to flag her down to pay the bill even though I had my card out in my hand for over 10 minutes. It seemed like a lot of locals go there which is a good sign but it also seemed like the out of towners were ignored. I'd love to try the burgers or something different next time but I think it's going to be awhile before I stop in again. read more

This was my first trip out since the new owners. Wow! It cleaned up nicely. And the addition of the outside area is great! The parking lot was loaded, but we found a table easily. There was live music on the stage outside, which is what brought us out. It was a great setup! We sat (table of 5) for about 15-20 minutes trying to catch a server. They went to every table around us, but skipped us. I finally went in to the bar to get drinks and menus so we could at least know what we wanted when a server did come. We had to wave someone down after another 15 or so minutes, but he wasn't a server, so he had to go get our waitress. I think another server for nights like this could do them well. Our table ordered the kids Mac n cheese nuggets, prime rib dip, prime rib with a baked potato, and a burger. The fries are sidewinder fries, which aren't really my favorite. But the food all looked good. I had the prime rib dip, and it was tasty. It was topped with sautéed onions and cheese. Everything came out nice and hot!! We originally went to the snakepit, HORRIBLE service. So we headed to the hilltop bar and grill. So much more our style of a restaurant. Their signage out front is SO cute, Instagram worthy We entered and a man named Dan was our server and he was great. We drank death picked huckleberry margaritas and daiquiris and they were delicious. Their outdoor patio is SO cute, also Instagram picture worthy will come back here every year we come into town. We are a very large group and everyone loved the relaxed feeling of the hilltop bar and grill. read more

Saw some reviews on FB...thought I'd try again...not good...grease food and over priced for the quality...had a prime rib sandwich last time tried a burger this time...fries were cold soft and greasy mess...there are a lot of choices in the valley...don't waste your time...it's quite aways of the beaten path and other than a cute location it's not worth the extra drive...server was pleasant tho...I don't drink but it did appear to have full bar... The Hilltop has been under new ownership since March, 2020, so previous poor reviews should be totally disregarded. Also disregard the notice by some hacker who advised that the restaurant is closed. It is OPEN 7 days a week. The food is excellent with little wait time; the staff is attentive & friendly; and whether dining inside or on the large patio, the ambiance is warm and filled with historic charm! The Prime Rib specials on Fridays & Saturdays are renowned throughout the Silver Valley. The bar is well-stocked with liquor and beer, with craft beers on tap. After waiting close to 2 hours for our food, (someone would stop by about every 30 minutes to tell us our food would be out next) Everyone's orders came out wrong. I went there to eat at least once a week while visiting family April to July 2018, and always left with a happy belly and a feeling that my business was appreciated.
