Came over the mountains from Trout Creek for a lunch on the way to Wallace. Place has a ton of character and really interesting local history. Four of us had lunch and everyone loved there meal, food was well cooked and generous portions. Burgers were real good. Service was friendly and professional. The really cool thing is the attached museum. It is fantastic, great exhibits explaining the local history. Highly recommend stopping here, it's unique fun and local. read more

When visiting the Sprag Pole Museum, it is very easy to work up a good appetite looking at all those dusty keepsakes and bordello bedrooms, so naturally-The Sprag Pole Steak and Rib House is right there to banish those stomach growls! A fort of Seattle Mariners and Seattle Seahawks pride-this is what passes for a Sports Bar in an Old West Ghost Town! A Dry Sports Bar! I was enchanted by all the hummingbird feeders hung out front that attracted dozens of hummingbirds from far and wide! It was a glorious sight! Now the food tasted great and I thank the great outdoors fresh mountain air for that! My son and I enjoyed a fantastic lunch of Sprag Pole Cheeseburgers and fries. Of course I had to try the old-fashioned Huckleberry Shake which was beyond tasty! The Sprag Pole also serves hearty breakfasts until noon, soup and salads plus some raved about "Chester fried chicken" and "Lloyd's Famous Baby back ribs." Dinner will get you some fine steaks and seafood dishes and there are weekend specials of Prime Rib (yummy!) on the weekends. Plenty of beverage selections and old-fashioned, malts, sundaes, floats and milk shakes. To-go orders available too, add $1.00. So, in addition to your legitimate Wild West museum experiences, the Sprag Pole Steak and Rib House adds to the overall authenticity of your visit and your stomach then gets to digest some real good Ghost Town grub! I absolutely adore the Sprag Pole and I visit it every chance I get! The food is spectacular and cheap (large portions too!) The museum is fun and educational, and when the Nickelodeon is working, it's a lot of fun for kids who might be interested to know where the channel's name comes from! On top of that, it's easy to find and the atmosphere is a lot of fun. read more

Wow, what a great "Funky" place, my kind of place. Great options of food and super great service. Make sure you check out the "Free" Museum in the building. Food was great and plentiful the reason for to-go containers. Our Senior group of 9 made our way from Spokane along a great passage to get here. Everyone was hungry and when asked about the best sellers from our waitress she stated that the hamburgers are great the meat is fresh and never frozen, the meat for sandwiches is roasted on premise and the fish for the fish and chips is hand cut from never frozen fish. Wow, got the 2 piece and size of the fish was bigger than my fist and the burgers were sky high. The only complaint we had was that the steak cut fries were so hot we had to wait to eat them. Food was excellent! Service was excellent! Recently kicked smokers outside so smoke free atmosphere. I had Grilled Chicken with Huckelberry Shake..........huge servings and great shake. Wife and friend split 1/2 pound burger and salad bar also excellent and Leroy had bacon cheese burger and fries also great. Would come back in a heartbeat. Dont miss the museum in back thousands of items of interest. Also a show and tell on mining. Also forget the bedroom gold mine, as it is not smoke free! I stunk like a cig after I came out. Also no bedroom gold mine to view as it is full of water and covered over. But drive straight over bridge where creek i upon leaving follow paved road up road 1/4 mile to old late 1800's grave yard. Lots of history! Then take the highway to Thompson Falls Montana about 10 miles to see Revette Lake or Blossum lakes which are about an hour hike. read more
