Ham and cheese with split navy bean and ham

We had a decent lunch here on the way to MT, and the ladies were nice. We were not looking to be filled up, so we all just went the sandwich route. Everything was decent. But it was a bit weird, because my Hubby had to ask if he could fix their toilet. He did his business, and the chain was not connected to flush, so how can you leave that for others! That's not really a big deal, because we don't want people fixing the toilet then cooking food, but wow lol. Yes, that all did happen. The owner should make sure the plumbing works

Good French Toast... she couldn't resist a little sugar, could she.

Clean, friendly, family owned breakfast stop, abounding with locals and fellow travelers. After too many fancy, sugar laced, "something different", breakfasts on this road trip, we both wanted a down home, mom n' pop breakfast. This place delivered. Thick cut bacon, eggs cooked as ordered, and crispy hash browns with toast and jelly on the side. Simple and well prepared. Easy on and off stop from I 90. Can't believe we hadn't tried this place before. A good ending to another fun road trip. We will be back to this place again.

Located on I-90 near Hwy 3's intersection with Interstate 90 (a few hundred yards up to the exit). AT&T = No Phone Service ;)

Excellent Breakfast Stop In A Virtual Cellular Black Hole SITREP We all tried checking into this fantastic café. But whether we were on AT&T, Verizon or T-Mobile, there just was no cell phone coverage at the time. It could have just been the topography. The storm may have had something to do it with it too. Whatever the case, I found myself being the "First To Tip" to here, *quick subsequent edit* AND just found out FTR as well. Let's just say that business here is pretty local for the most part, with occasional random spillage from I-90 and HWY 3 (as was our case). THE SETUP In a sweet log cabin, this rustic adventure begins walking UP the stairs to this restaurant that sits upon it's log stilts. A very friendly wood finished environment greets you, from the walls, floors and chairs. Open & spacious, there is plenty of room to host a large bus group of elderly Indian casino bound slot-machiners heading out from Butte & Missoula, and heading to Coeur d'Alene Indian Reservation casinos. THANK GOD that wasn't THIS day, but our friendly waitress told us it could have been like over the weekend. *Note taken* THE BREAKFAST FARE Absolutely delicious options. There are your traditional breakfast fare options, which would put any Denny's to shame (and I don't mean that as insult since Denny's has provided a great oasis of friendly comfort in some really remotes areas on our trip), but that the food plates were large and very substantial. The two areas where they really featured some unique talents was in French Toast and Omelets: * Marty got the Blueberry Bread Pudding French Toast - what an amazing combination that also came with 2 eggs and 2 (really 4) big strips of bacon for $8.99. * I got the Mexi-Omelet (and huge Mexican Omelet with cheese & chili & salsa, along 4 pieces of Sourdough Toast and what I can only call whispy hash browns, since they were delicious, but much thinner per strand than what I am used to seeing at most Cafes. * To be honest, I forgot what uncle Gary had, but I think it was pretty boring considering what other amazing options presented themselves. ;) THE LOWDOWN Every now and then (though it seems to have been a few times every day this trip) in the backwoods of the Pacific Northwest, I will find a true gem like Rose Lake which may not have listing (or just a shell with no Yelp input whatsoever, as in the case of Rose Café) and I'm just happy I might be able to contribute some bit of information to fellow Yelpers who might be motivated to come and give their business to an establishment like this one that really deserves it.

This is bar none THE best place to eat! Whether it be breakfast or lunch! Bill and Donna (owners) are top of the line people along with their serving staff! My wife and I having been going there for years, every weekend, for their fabulous breakfast! Give their place a try...but I warn you, once you eat there, you will have to go back again! As Mom n Pop restaurants go, this one does not disappoint. You have your standard fare of burgers, sandwiches, salads and what. They have a fantastic breakfast menu with a lot to choose from. The waitress was very nice and helpful with the menus. The restaurant is clean and well maintained. Furniture looks new and if it isnt they keep it looking new. I really felt at home with the country decor. Humerous literature at each table helps pass the short time we were waiting for our food. There is extra seating for big groups as well. Handicap acces. Child seats available. Bathrooms Were clean and functional. Great place for down to earth folks to get a bite to eat. Myself and my husband both had burgers and tots which we couldnt finish as the portions were very generous. Tots were crispy and tasty. A lady next to us got a cobb salad which had me wishing I'd gotten that instead. She said it was delicious. The best thing about Rose Lake Restaurant is that it is the home of locally famous Cookieman cookies. (See pics) If you have a hankering for something sweet Nd love cookies, this is worth the stop. Cookieman makes them large and in charge with all natural ingredients. They're an inch thick and taste divine. Lots of flavors to choose from. Egg allergies like me? No problem. Try one of his amazing creamy chocolate smores bar. And its big enough to have leftovers for later. Lastly, if available, sit on the west side of the restaurant for a lovely view of the mountains.

Exactly!

Exactly what I was looking for in a breakfast joint. Good food, simple but clean dining room. Good, no-nonsense service. Very patient with the kids and brought out the coloring crayons and pictures without being asked. Next time I'm in Coeur D'Alene I'll drive out of my way for Rose Lake.

The…read moreKingston Hilltop was a pleasure when it came to finding a variety of the standard fare at a reasonable price. I had the CFS with white gravy and fries. The fry sauce was top of the line and the CFS was up there in quality. Momma's fish and chips were cooked without excess oil and I believe they were cod. She did substitute sweet potato fries that seemed to please her, but be aware there is an upcharge. Our friend had a standard fare hamburger with the tasty high quality beef that was hanging over the edges of the bun. The beer selections were limited, but well varied so you will find something you like. My point is that while this is an off the beaten path eatery, it is worth the detour!

There are some wonderful pictures of the old miners that the building has been dedicated to. We came a little after lunch time but there were still several tables with diners. They also have a nice bar and additional outdoor dining. Our waitress, Liz A. was fantastic. She was quick to great us and take our orders. When we were ready to leave, hubby wanted a shirt and she brought out one to make sure the size and color was right. She also gave us a bag for our to-go boxes as the meals were big. And a plastic cup with a lid and straw for fresh ice tea to go. And to the food - we enjoyed every bite. We both had the black and blue wraps. They are big and loaded with plenty of delicious tender meat, veggies, and blue cheese. I had tater tots that were perfectly crispy and Liz brought out a big condiment tray with squeeze bottles for them. He ordered the Blue Cheese Garlic Fries - which were also crispy and packed with yumminess. Very happy we stopped here. They are currently open 7 days a week and you will not be disappointed

We zero in on epicenter bar and grills in small towns, and these folks were right in our wheelhouse. Decades old feel, clean, lots of families, and a solid bar menu with all the standards. Just what we were looking for. I'll refrain from a lengthy dissertation on the delicious food, but will mention that when they offer Steak Bites on the menu, they mean it. Some places give you breaded shoe leather--this joint gives you beeeeef. Well seasoned and tender, as well. Whole place was run by two busy/friendly gals, and the fact that both were cougar smoke-shows made the evening even better. Yes... I pissed off the bartender with an 8 % tip Jae/Jeanine, due to her being rude, and she called the sheriff on me and my wife for drunk driving after we had 2 beers. Insane! I used to love eating here every 6 months. I no longer feel welcome. If you are from out of town, not born or raised in Potlatch, you will be shunned and treated as an outcast. Its your money and you should spend it as you please but I wouldn't recommend spending it here. Go to the Palouse Caboose or Palouse Brewery where the staff is professional and courteous.

Servers would stand to make more tip by actually waiting tables...but here you go to the counter and order at the register and they bring it to you instead. The overall feeling of this establishment is a snack bar not a diner restaurant that has prime rib on the menu. Getting your own drinks seems like a waste of money with the cups. Anyway, the food was okay. I think its too much bacon for a clam chowder lol like where was the clam just call it bacon chowder lol. Patty Melt was decent but I think the grilled onions need to be grilled more its like they barely touched the grill. My biggest gripe for me is the ranch.. thats the worst ranch Ive ever tasted. Please just buy hidden valley ranch seasoning then add mayo sourcream milk etc and dont mess with the flavoring too much your ranch was too sour (lemon?) or way expired lol... People seem to like to hang out way after they are done eating mostly an older crowd. Service was polite.
