Disappointed by the menu choices. It seemed like they started with traditional diner food, then thought outside the box to add ingredients not usually paired - but forgot to check whether it tasted good. At least, that's what I thought about my scramble with mushrooms, ground beef and spinachd. It sounded good, but sprinkle really nice grated sharp parmesan on top and it just didn't taste right - until I scraped the parmesan off, then it was OK. I was in town with my family for a wedding and we needed a breakfast spot to kick off the day. We settled on this spot and were not disappointed. Upon entering I loved seeing the old wood paneling and green vinyl seats. Such a nostalgic feel to the place. All the staff was super friendly and helpful. Everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy their breakfast and we all left satisfied. I personally had the 2 eggs breakfast with sausage patty with biscuits and gravy. The sausage patty seemed homemade as it didn't have the look or taste of your typical frozen patty. The eggs were cooked to a perfect medium. The biscuits and gravy stole the show. I like to consider myself a connoisseur of biscuits and gravy as I try it at just about every place it's offered and this one might just make the top 3. The biscuit was fluffy and dense but also a little crispy on the outside. The gravy was flavorful and full of sausage, no skimping here. As always, this place rocks. I've been coming here for quite a few years now and decided to change things up and go with the Bagel Florentine for the first time. It appears to be a local favorite and was very busy. It's just a short drive from I 90 and very easy to get back on the freeway. Our server was very friendly and very skilled in customer service. The owner was on the floor visiting with various customers, probably regulars. My great granddaughter who is 8 is very finicky eater and wanted pancakes even at noon which apparently was not a problem. My granddaughter ordered quesadillas and I opted for a Rueben sandwich. Both were excellent choices and we shared our orders. Service was fast and we were back on the road in a timely manner. Prices were affordable. When my travels take me back to/through Coeur D'Alene I will plan to stop in again. read more

We got there early enough on a Sunday morning to get the last open table, because for the next half hour the line was out the door. We had the most perfect waitress who arrived with coffee and kept it topped off multiple times. The breakfast of eggs, bacon and malt waffle topped with strawberries and whipped cream was sinfully delicious. The waffle itself was the best I've ever tasted; the eggs and bacon were cooked to perfection. The waitress was the most amiable and hardworking woman! She served half the place quickly and with a genuine smile and no one felt rushed and all felt special. Don't be put off by the cottage look, this place serves up a delightful choice of breakfasts that wow. As we were leaving past the long line of waiting people, I heard one local man telling a tourist that the line was worth the wait, and I had to echo that. Arrived at 9:50a on a Saturday, waited outside, got to chatting and missed our name being called.. but got seated at 2 minutes after we questioned the delay at 10:45 (was sunny outside and Vantage Pointe had some music playing on the patio, had fun watching the children run around playing). The zucchini bread arrived within minutes of sitting down! Soft, hot and fluffy. A MUST GET MENU ITEM! The Saratoga (cream cheese chive eggs) was decadent in its' simplicity. 'Three eggs'?! The poor hen must of had gestational diabetes.. these eggs are huge! The Tri-Tip Beef Ortega is (almost) a fork and knife sammich, with a cheese to hatch chili ratio that is sure to stick to even a 13yr old's beard. I won't need to oil my mustache today. Service is FAST, whole meal was in front of us and finished in a fraction of the time we waited. Music selection was a pleasing mix of 1970s - 2010s stadium hits. I've been to Michael D's Eatery several times, and this time it definitely did not disappoint. I usually get the Biscuits and Gravy when I go there, but today I got the Two Eggs With Choice of Meat. For my choice of meat, I chose bacon. The food was delicious! It was my first time ordering this, and it's provided one of my new favorites. I also had a side of Zucchini Bread and a Fruit Cup side. The waiters and waitresses are always very kind and the food always comes out quickly (even when I'm there with a bunch of other people). It's also a very cute restaurant and I love it. I don't get the chance to go there often, but when I do it's a nice treat. read more

My family stopped here for breakfast strictly because of the name. My husband's name is Michael D, so we had to go. We stood outside and took a picture in front of the sign and a really nice waitress came outside and took a picture of all of us together, which was very kind! My kids got pancakes and the kids pancakes were huge and yummy, the kids scrambled eggs were also cooked perfectly. Solid breakfast spot on the eastern side of CDA. The portions were large and food was good (not great, but good). I loved their zucchini bread - very yummy! Husband ordered the chicken fried steak with biscuits and gravy. He said the biscuit was top notch but the gravy was just ok - not a lot of sausage in it and a little watery but good flavor. The chicken fried steak was actually "meaty", if that's a thing. . Not used to actually tasting the meat in CFS because a lot of places you can only taste the breading because it's so thin. Mike Ds is a neighborhood hotspot. Have only been for breakfast this far. Their biscuits and gravy are a family favorite. My husband loves the omlettes. Large portion sizes, decent pricing. Always packed, which is good and bad. Usually have to wait to be seated, especially on the weekends. They have an open seating area, so it can get rather loud and you will likely hear others conversations. They used to do call-in pickup orders, but have stopped on the weekends. read more

We stopped in for breakfast, and they open at 6 am, which is unusual for the area. The food is all made from scratch using high quality ingredients, and the owner is a Culinary Institute trained Chef. Our server Yolanda quickly got our morning started with a smile and a great attitude. They have a beer and wine license, and use some very creative mixing to create cocktails, such as sake Bloody Mary's and Mimosa's with Champagne. The place is recently remodeled, and spotlessly clean. The portions were big, and the prices were reasonable comparatively, and the crowd was mixed with locals and tourists. Yum yum. Great service, very friendly people. Oh! And they offer Paleo if you can believe it. I'm usually not a believer but asked about it afterwards and found out that their recipe is so good, that non-Paleo locals love it. So, don't be scared to try. Mikey D's is the place to be. My family frequents Michael D's largely for their breakfast, but also for the incredible hospitality. We stopped by on a Saturday for some morning fuel, and stocked up on coffee and brekkie. I shared a order of the Margarita Benedict with my grandma, which ended up being the perfect portion. This dish was stacked with grilled tomato, melted mozzarella, poached egg, pesto hollandaise, and layered on an English muffin. Plus, I finished it off with crispy potatoes dipped in sweet ketchup. Michael's also offers a variety of beverages, including their famous hot chocolate (doused in whip cream and sprinkles,) and a large selection of mimosas. I grabbed the traditional Orange Juice, which was served in a very large goblet! The food was absolutely fantastic, but I didn't feel comfortable with the lack of masks on employees. This pandemic isn't over, and we should be taking every precaution possible to prevent the spread. It's incredibly important to support local, but I also want to know that the safety of myself and my family is a top priority. read more
