I had looked forward to trying this place for a while. Attempted to go today and was disappointed to say the least. We went in and with plenty of tables open were told there were no tables that could accommodate a stroller and me not being able to sit at a high top. Tucked up on the corner of 4th and prairie. The inside was a little dark , nothing fancy or fun. There is "MOO" sound that goes off every 30 min or so. That's about it when it comes to the cow theme. The food was overpriced , small portions and mediocre at best. The waitress was kind, but after taking our orders she walked by once and said "it's good isn't it" and never came back to fill our drinks or ask if we needed something until she brought our check at the end. She hyped up the food like it was award winning. The French toast had no flavor , neither did the syrup that came with it , like it was watered down. The biscuits and gravy was a waste! The biscuits were a little hard and grainy and tasted like a gluten free option. The gravy wasn't that good either. The "homemade" sausage was a small glob of overcooked meat. Like a shriveled hamburger patty. The avocado Beny was decent. Although I don't know if a small dollop of avocado counts as "avocado" . The portions were small !! Our over all impression was good but I must admit when you go to pay, your options for tipping are 20%, 22% & 25%. I believe you can choose custom but that's not the point. We do always leave at least 20% but feel people should have a lower option. It's forcing you to choose 20% as the minimum. For this reason, we probably won't return. The food was good, not large quantities, moderately price, staff was very nice although service is quite slow. I do wish them well. read more

Such nice folks here, and they were pretty busy on a holiday weekend, but a few things really impressed me. I wasn't sure what to make of this place but heard good things, so I gave it a shot for breakfast. I came in and the theme is a cow pen, which is pretty funny. There was only one person working but she was hustling and not letting the workload dampen her mood. She kept right on top of things even though she was slammed (an older lady with a heart of gold). Very professional. Food was delicious. I had a ham and cheese omelet and it was overflowing with ham which is unusual these days given food costs. The potatoes came with peppers and cheese, which was a nice touch. And every once in a while there would be a random MOOOOOOOOO. Not sure if that was to be funny or something like a special code to the waiter that the food was up. Either way it cracked me up. It's a tad bit out of the way, but it's worth it. In my tiredness I left my corrective glasses on table and did not realize I did until entering the airport in Spokane . I called the Stupid Cow Cafe and the wonderful server I had named Dawn had them . She told me she would send them to me as soon as she got off work! She even sent a tracking number . I had a great breakfast, server was great even though it took a while to order in an empty restaurant, decor was definitely my favorite part. Reasons for the 3 stars.... seriously took forever to get service and we really wanted coffee. I honestly think she thought she already took out drink order and had a flakey moment,but the main reason is my breakfast (Benedict) came out before my husband and she said sorry his will be out soon we had an issue with the potatoes and then when she did bring it out they were clearly burnt. We didn't know what to say because it was so obvious. He didn't eat them and if course I felt guilty because mine was fine and it was if course my restaurant pick that day. Looking for a little breakfast place in Hayden and found the stupid cow. We checked it out because of the name really, so glad we did. The staff was friendly and helpful with suggestions. I had the special ( spicy crispy chicken eggs Benedict) and I have to admit I was a little skeptical. I'm so glad I tried it as it was delicious! My wife had a French toast plate that was also very good. We will definitely stop by again next time we're passing through Hayden. We'd love to try their lunch menu. The decor is pretty cool too. The best chicken fried steak in the area with fried potatoes, 2 eggs, and a biscuit. My wife orders the biscuits and gravy. We share each others breakfast. I've had a lot of chicken fried steaks over the years, but their blend of meats make it so tender that I normally can cut it with a fork. The service and cooks are always great.
