Oh my goodness! This place is a hidden gem! My Dad and I found it one morning searching for a breakfast place. What a nice surprise! Tip: order the ham! They give you a big slab of fresh ham and it's so tender and juicy! It is really homey feeling, it's pretty small and the tables are close together, but that's part of the fun! They get super slammed in the mornings! It's crazy! The girls who waitress there are super friendly and do a great job! I don't know how to remember everyone's orders! I love the location too! Very small cafe that was packed. Maybe because of their prices and choices of portion size. The room was very crowded and the conversation noise made it difficult to talk. I was optimistic that I would get some home made biscuits and gravy and was very disappointed when it was the peppery, gummy gravy from a can and not home made. The bacon was very greasy as well. Cute place out of the way. Was very busy on a Saturday morning. Inside was small and tastefully decorated . I can't remember sitting on a more uncomfortable booth thought . Pretty bad. Seems like most breakfast places kind of run together . I mean, let's face it , an egg is an egg. Right ? So how to compare it to the others? The lady servers were great, above average. Friendly and attentive. Three of us got omelettes. I got the veggie one and it was very good . What is cool is that they have different sized omelette for different appetites. Large portion of average tasting potatoes. Fours pieces of toast and homemade jelly. Even had full size containers of creamer . They had an amazing child hot chocolate in a sponge bob cup! First off, this review should have happened a long time ago. Kim and all of the staff at The Blue Plate Cafe are my extended family. We moved to the area in the Fall of 2016 and found our way to Blue Plate in early spring the following year. Since then, Google Maps has recorded either myself or accompanied by family there on 213 separate occasions (at the time of this review). If you are looking for a good staple, classic diner, offering good food, good value and good service, look no further. These people treat you like family, the good kind, the kind you want to be around. By this time, I've had nearly everything on the menu, and their specials are great. No frills, no fluff, just a good experience and consistent food. Everytime. As an electrician by trade, my only gripe is that the light fixture in the men's bathroom has been missing the glass for 6 years. read more

Blue Plate has great service. The place is always busy, so it is a local favorite. I had the eggs Benedict and it was ok. I would have liked more lemon in the sauce. The potatoes were super hot and crunchy, which I like. My partner had the kitchen sink omelette which was good. I am giving Blue Plate a 3 (because I can't do a 3 1/2) and because the atmosphere needs updating and the food is fair. I am sure it is dependable and consistent but I think there is better. You know how you always hear about those special small Mom and Pop cafes that serve AMAZINGLY good food, well here they are. Small but with outstandingly yummy food, they have reasonable prices, great little menu, homemade soups to die for, and portions that will fill you up. Come here hungry and go home full, that should be their motto. Definitely try a soup and half sandwich special, they change daily and always seem to be especially good. This is my home away from home. the food is GREAT and it always comes out hot--unlike some restaurants. The staff is super and they greet you by name after a few visits.What ever I order for breakfast I always ask for only 1/2 of the potatoes because they are not skimpy with them. Disappointed because we just bought a place within walking distance. Sorry but there's no way the food is better than 2 stars. Got 2 vege omelettes... it was more of an egg wrap where the veges were all loose inside which made it hard to eat because everything (red bell pepper, white onion and canned mushrooms) fell off your fork... potatoes looked good but tasted like nothing, no seasoning. Wheat toast were basic and small. The jelly on the table looked good but had hard chewy berries in it. $7 was a good price but there are other places in town with better food for the same price. read more
