What an amazing new discovery in Sandpoint! We are from OC, SoCal but come up here every winter and after a few locals recommended this place, we had to try it. The ambiance is incredible: modern, cozy, comfy (you'll never want to leave) but the coffees and food were sooooo delicious and good! Very authentic European and both the savory and sweet crepes were perfection, so I highly recommend you try them both. Had a great lunch here today. Tried the Bardollino Salad the Tuscan soup and a beer. Great food! It is fresh flavorful and the bread that came with it tasted homemade. I've been here for coffee before which is also excellent. Very nice staff that were hopping busy but still got our food out on time and delicious. read more

We were visiting Sandpoint for a week of skiing and found Bernklau first for a cup of coffee. The eggnog latte was perfect for the Christmas season! A day later we returned for some sandwiches that were delicious and filling - and more coffees - On our final day in town we stopped in again for brunch. The atmosphere was amazing with a 3 sided fireplace- clean modern style - movable tables for larger parties and a very efficient and friendly staff. The crepes were fantastic - we had a savory and a sweet. There was also outdoor seating and what looked like a rooftop bar! The prices were certainly fair with a meal for under $15. What a rare gem to find on our vacation - certainly a reason to return to Sandpoint. read more

It was our first time in Sandpoint afew weeks ago, and we came here for brunch. What we had not expected was that it would be some of the best crepes we had ever had. We got a strawberry and pistachio crepe, aswell as a pesto, cheese, and egg crepe. both were warm, decently sized, and amazing! Plus the two crepes we also ordered an iced chai latte, despite getting a hot one instead of the iced as we had asked, it was still a lovely chai. The interior was a very modern style, a mix of elegance but also a sort of welcoming coziness to it. It was overall an amazing experience and if we are ever in the area again we will definitely be coming back! read more

This place is great!!! I had their tea, which you can get with "everything"... lemon, ginger, elderberry, mint... all of it in one giant cup. It's so good and fresh tasting. I want to buy it by the jug. I will suggest that, I think... I also tried their caprese sandwich (yum!) and their pistachio creme crepe. A friend of mine had their latte/espresso and was really happy with it (plus it was so pretty). I love how quaint the place is, and intimate. I would seriously just come every morning if it was in my budget to do so. The service is awesome and friendly, and they're so helpful. I never feel rushed trying to figure out what to order. They made a substitution super easy for my strawberry allergy and subbed raspberries so yeah... I wanna come a lot. read more

Haven't felt compelled to give a positive review for some time. However, Bernklau just gave me all the inspiration I need. My wife and I just moved back to Sandpoint and finding this place only 10 days in made us both smile. We like to take our 4 year old Sullivan out for breakfast on our days off. We find a "place" in each city we move to. Bernklau has just become that place! If you haven't tried it yet, do it! Pastries on point, coffee and tea that we tried (matcha) for me were delicious. It has the best coffee and mimosas as well as the most outstanding customer service! They are so friendly and kind and service-oriented. I would come here again in a heartbeat. 10/10 cafe!! The high rating is more than accurate. I got the No. 5 savory crepe which included goat cheese and olive tapenade- AMAZING! Hubby got the sweet strawberry and lemon crepe and I caught myself stealing bites throughout my meal. Coffee was unreal and clearly made of high quality ingredients. Great proportion sizes and great customer service- one of the waitresses gave me two free bottled waters because I asked if they had glasses and she said no. I was more than prepared to pay, and she told me to not worry about it. If you're looking for a chill, laid back cafe with GREAT food, do not miss out on this place :) read more

used to come here a lot. love the brown sugar butter cinnamon crepes. but something has happened in the last month or 2 and I'm on my 3rd visit where they are not the same. there was next to nothing in my crepe and now what I loved about them so much is gone. the service is always awesome, they are very nice here and I hate to go elsewhere to hang out for lunch but there's nothing keeping me here now. empty crepes aren't yummy. read more
