Service: 10/10 Wonderful people with outstanding patience, they put up with our group of seven with grace and kindness. Food: 10/10 Everyone loved what they got and ate their fill. We left happy and satisfied and didn't break the bank! Everything was reasonably priced and full of comforting goodness. Ambiance: 10/10 Literally no complaints from anyone in our group (which was incredible since it was super hot out and we're all from the rainy coast), the decoration was unique and quaint without being kitschy and had some very nice art on the walls. We been coming here for the last year . We did take a break because the food quality has gone downhill. We decided to give it another chance and we waiting 45 minutes for our food mostly because no one struggling how to make eggs Benedict. They over cook the egg every single time . Eggs Benedict is a poached egg . The waitress ended up going into the kitchen and helping them . By the time the eggs were ready the other plate of food was cold . Thank you Idaho for this cute little café! We slipped in right before closing (I am so sorry, I didn't realize until it was too late) and were treated like no burden at all, as were the people who came after us. All the decor made it feel like I was eating in my mom's house. So did the portions. Good hearty food, great prices and you will not be hungry anymore by the time you leave because the portions are for real people who eat. Our waitress was Adorable and I love her. She was new and friendly and did a great job with an engaging and endearing attitude. Plus she spoiled my boy, got everything right, and kept our coffee full so that helps. Especially on the first leg of a very long road trip home. My grandmother turns 100 this month and she was born in Priest River so we came to see it for the first time. Stopping to enjoy home cooking I know she would love made a perfect story to tell her, a perfect memory, and ensures we will come back someday. read more

Very small Cafe. Food is Ok not great. Hashbrowns are always under cooked even if you ask for extra crispy. If you get Tator Tots they will be over cooked. Coffee is always cold. read more

Love the small town vibe, friendly and quick service and decor. Quaint with aluminum siding wainscot and tin tile ceiling, and cowboy/western decor. Breakfast and lunch available til 2, I had the Eggs Benedict with potato pancakes and the Hubbs had the plain burger, tots and a cup of chili. I had no complaints about my breakfast -everything was cooked as expected, but nothing fabulous. The burger was disappointing for the Hubbs. Bun was only very lightly grilled, burger was ok. Tots were fine (they call them rounds here), Chili was not that good. So food on this visit -3+; service 5! read more

AJ's was recommended to us by the hotel manager where we stayed. He said it was the best breakfast in town. I think he has to be right. The food was down home cooking. Everything was delicious. We looked for a breakfast place and found AJ's and glad we did! Both of us have been on a low carb diet lately so we ordered omelets, Sue had a special with spinach and bacon while I ordered my old favorite the Western! We opted out of hash browns and toast but I got a small bowl of cottage cheese with mine. They were delicious and Sue even said hers was the best omelet she's ever had! And at a very decent price! Super excited to say we've found our new breakfast place! It's rare to be able to say evey item was absolutely wonderful! We are pretty picky too. The coffee (as others have stated) was what coffee is supposed to be, full and flavorful. The waffle was NOT your typical overly airy white flour tasteless piece of cardboard, rather just the right density (ditto on the biscuit) with a hearty flavor. You must try the real whole huckleberry topping! Perfectly cooked bacon, also very flavorful. Awesome gravy, fresh tasting hashbrowns.....we can't wait to try lunch items! On top of it all, clean bathroom, comfortable seating with the perfect temperature, and a very nice staff as well. Cute little place in the TOWN of Priest River...you won't see it on the highway driving by. Its only open each day until 2:00 although we noticed people kept TRYING to get in beyond that time! It was pretty popular. The service was pretty slow...we waited a long time to order even though it wasn't that busy when we arrived but everyone was nice. Me and my husband both had the 1/2 mess with biscuits and gravy. Everything was very good and the 1/2 mess was more than we could eat at one setting. We will definitely go back. read more

My husband and I are on a road trip and decided to go to AJ's because of the good reviews. The service was excellent and the food was delicious but our dining experience took a serious turn when we noticed a waitress openly displaying white supremacy tattoos on her arm. While it was only one person in there with those tattoos, management allowing her to display them is tactic approval of those beliefs and is highly offensive and unprofessional. We won't be going back and I hope you think twice about supporting this type of place. read more

Wonderful, wild-west decor, fast friendly service, and great food at reasonable prices. We stopped here for lunch on our way home from Priest Lake. My reuben sandwich on grilled rye bread was perfect, with just the right amount of crisp sauerkraut, juicy corned beef and homemade thousand island dressing. Husband said his mushroom swiss burger was "best ever." We both liked being able to choose our sides, instead of just "served with french fries." I had onion rings (yum!) and Husband chose cole slaw. Both were delicious. If only we lived here all year long, we would be regulars at AJ's, but we will definitely eat here more often next summer. read more

Consistently excellent food makes this a weekly destination for my family. The western ambience is terrific and owners friendly and helpful.

My cousins recommended AJ's so we went for breakfast and what a breakfast it was! The place has a bit of charm to it, the waitress was fantastic - so friendly and attentive. Our breakfast's were delicious. My favorite is chicken fried steak and I've been to several of the cafe's in the area and none of their chicken fried steak is worth eating, but Aj's is terrific! My eggs perfect and then I had potato pancakes with it. I've never had those for breakfast and gave them a try - they were great! My husband had pancakes, sausage and eggs - once again it was perfect. All the other cafes our now off our list for breakfast - this is our place to go. Give it a try, I think you'll truly enjoy it! read more

I chose this place specifically because of the great reviews on yelp. I always judge restaurants based on their eggs and hash browns. Indeed I found it populated with pleasant folks, a quaint atmosphere and a seemingly happy clientele. Sadly, my experience wasn't the best. I ordered hash browns covered with gravy but the hash browns were unevenly cooked, under seasoned and burnt tasting. I specifically requested runny eggs, and received 1 medium and one over hard. Asked for a redo on the hard one, which the server gladly obliged. But I soon felt awkward as I listened to a bit of a kerfuffle over my egg in the kitchen. The server brought my egg on a small plate. It looked perfect. She then requested that I put the overcooked egg onto her plate so she could prove to the cook that it wasn't runny. For a place that only serves breakfast and lunch I was not at all impressed with the execution of this simple meal or the lack of attention by what appeared to be ample staff. No one followed up with me to check on my meal after that, so I left the money on the counter, relieved that I wouldn't have to endure an uncomfortable wait for change. While the place was filled with people as I departed, and I was sent off with a warm adieu from staff seated across the room, I won't be joining them in the future. read more
