Tried this place out, 1st time on way up to Sandpoint. Drive thru. Got a tub of fries only. Now here is where they shine like a mofo. They now cook all their shish in beef tallow! Finally more places are doing this. The got damn seed oils are killing off Americans imo. Good job guys! The fries were great! We will stop again sometime and order them up and maybe try other items. I live a block away from Burger Express , unfortunately they have hired a tomboy like gal with red dyed hair that is the rudest person I have ever known in the service industry in 40years .At first I thought it was being directed towards me but after watching I noticed everyone being treated that way including the employees she was working with .The cleanliness has also dropped and my fries were cold. read more

Mary and I stopped in here for the first time today. This is a classic 50s 60s style burger joint; it was clean but shows the wear of many years. Mary had the grilled chicken sandwich; chicken breast, lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise and toasted bun, good but average. My bacon cheese burger; had lettuce, mayonnaise, tomatoes, bacon, cheese, meat patty and toasted bun, it was good but could have been above average if the meat patty had been hot and juicy as opposed to the warm and dry patty that it was. I ordered a cheeseburger and onion rings, paid for them and then was told to "pull forward and park out front and we'll bring it out to you". After almost 20 min, watching them take more & more orders, I had to pull away because I was on my lunch hour. I love stopping by this spot on my way up to priest lake or pend orielle river! They've got amazing milkshakes and a great tub of fries. This time, I ordered the huckleberry milkshake, and a double cheeseburger (no cheese, aka a double burger. They don't have a plain double burger on the menu so had to order it this way!) The burgers are mediocre quality, similar to other fast food restaurants. Definitely recommend their milkshakes and fries though! And don't forget the fry sauce. The spot is quaint but decent size, plus 50s themed which is cute. Overall, while the food is of fast food quality, I will continue stopping by for the shakes and fries and probably still order a burger with it! There's also outdoor seating when the weather is nice. I ordered a bacon double cheese burger meal at the drive through. First the good. The flavor was good. Not amazing but not bad. I really liked the fries. They were crinkle cut and nice and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Good flavor. They were fast and courteous. The bad. The beef patties were not particularly juicy. I wouldn't go as far as to say they were dry though. All pretty typical though. Nothing special. Now the reason I'll probably not return. There were 4 bone chips in the burger. We've all probably had a small chip of bone in ground beef before. Hopefully they are few and far between. This one burger had 4. Not acceptable in my book. I thought of giving this place just one star but there were some good things so I settled in 2 stars. I wanted to like this place but their beef quality will need to improve first. A couple things that didn't influence my review. They have Pepsi products. I prefer Coke. I like to dip my fries in tartar sauce. It was just okay. If you stopping here expecting a gourmet burger you've come to the wrong place. This is fast food all the way but they do a very good job of hitting the expectation. The burgers are basic but tasty and the fries are pretty good too. The staff keeps everything nice and clean including the restrooms. We decided to stop and grab dinner just before the 9pm closing time. The girl working the counter never made us feel rushed and was very pleasant taking our order. We got in the drive up line at 1:50pm on Saturday, there 4 cars in front of us...an employee came out and took our order.....double cheese burger, corn dog, onion rings and two sodas, $17ish. A delivery truck arrived, 3 employees came out to help bring in few items, another employee was carrying out trash. At 2;30 we got to the window and the poor guy working there was extremely busy and seemed to be doing alot of jobs. Horrible service tonight. The young lady at the window didn't say much and when I asked if sauces costed extra she said no as if she was confused and smirked to her friend to the left. Not sure what that's about but as I was being handed my food nothing was said. Not a "thank you, have a goodnight" , nothing but "you're welcome." I get home and check my food, my tub of fries is half full, and not even fully cooked, they filled the other half of the tub with their sauce cups. On three different occasions the latest being 1/30/23, I ordered burger, fries & side of onion rings. Get home & no onion rings. The kitchen staff seems to be hit or miss, but often it is mismanaged chaos. The burgers are the typical mess.. BUT they are absolutely delicious. The fries and Onion rings are great. Over all the food is BETTER than a typical drive in, Will return for sure. Hope to see a better Evening manager in the future, possibly one that isn't condescending and passive aggressive to the rest of the staff. I have a mixed review ...positives are they have great fries, delicious milkshakes, ice cream cones are very good priced, and im diggin' the 50's style diner theme ..minuses are they only have teenagers working who sometimes seem clueless when facing adversities of any kind, drive through takes way too long, and their ice cream sundaes are way overpriced for the size.. Me and my brother went to Burger Express to get food and one of the waiters (a teenager my age) was giving me bad looks. After eating for a bit my brother leaned forward and the seat slid off revealing a lot of nasty garbage and pennies underneath. I went ahead and tried mine and found most of the seats slide off with little effort. On another visit Me and my friends went and the same waiter was laughing at me and not taking my order, so I had my friend take it for me, Ridiculous. Terrible service from the young people that work here. Unfortunately they feel a sense of entitlement. I did speak with a manager on staff who said she would talk with the employee that was rude to me giving me attitude when I walked in. I honestly was about to walk out but I wanted to place my order at this business. The food here is great! I hope there can be customer service skills being taught and practiced here. This is the third or fourth instance this has happened that I have mentioned to the manager about the attitude of the employees. I observed that the couple who walked in after me, the same employee smiled and greeted them professionally. Excellent fast-food restaurant. I am from California, and have always been partial to In-N-Out Burger down there. Burger Express is the only decent fast-food hamburger joint in the Spokane/Coeur d'Alene/Sandpoint area. This is the only place of its kind up here. All other fast food restaurants are trash by comparison, when food quality is taken into account. Menu is similar to Zip's *at first glance*. However, Burger Express' quality is far superior. This place is in a whole other league compared with the major chains (Burger King, McDonald's, Jack In The Box, Wendy's, etc.) - none of them can produce the same quality of burger. Tillamook Pepper-Jack and Cheddar are on the menu as standard cheeses in their burgers. The beef actually tastes like beef, not perfume. Good sauces. You can make any burger a "deluxe" for free - add tomato, lettuce, onion. Excellent huckleberry shakes - they use real ice cream and real huckleberries. Highly recommended if you are seeking a quick burger. It's not a fine restaurant, and does not try to be. It's just a rare fast-food restaurant which uses actual food ingredients. read more
