    The master burger and fries

The Master burger is the best burger I've ever had in my life and there really isn't a close second. The staff are very friendly. It's was really cool to see all the pictures of people who caught giant fish in lake Pend Oreille throughout the years on the walls.

We have eaten at The Captain's Table a few times now and each time has been terrific! We have ordered a half dozen different items now and everything was yummy. During the quarantine, we ordered take out and Mary (the owner) went above and beyond to make us smile with our take out containers. Thank you Mary for the great service!

Always a fun place to visit. Mary is always a kick and makes going there fun. The food today was really good. Fish and chips were perfectly cooked and tasty. The cheeseburger was great too. Don't expect a fine dining experience but do expect a fun dining experience. We started our summer at the Captn's Table and felt it fitting to end it there too. If you're looking for fine dining this is not your place. If you're looking for genuinely good food, you found it. Mary, the owner, hostess, bartender, server, greeter and heaven knows what else, always has a smile and a kind word. The food, not pretentious, is carefully prepared. The portions generous and the prices quite reasonable. There's usually an interesting mix of old time locals and visitors in the bar or the dining area. We'll be back in the Spring to christen another season.

Great food and old Sandpoint-Pend Oreille feel. We hope it stays the same always! And we wish them the best in keeping it that way!

I was able to snag a bite of both and they were both delicious. The turkey bacon club had a great sauce that gave it moisture, and the bread was still nice and soft. As for the tomato bisque, it was delicious! It was perfectly balanced and had a great texture. As for my potato, it wasn't as successful. It was swimming in butter and not in a good way. There was butter ladled on the plate, which would have been fine by itself but it seemed like my potatoes inside was dunked in butter as well. It was just too much. As for the cheese, it never melted and there was not enough of it. It seemed as though the cheese came out of the bag which normally has a stabilizer that prevents it from melting. That may be the case here or it just never got hot enough. Next time I will get the sandwich and soup combo. What was interesting about this resturant is you order at the counter and pay before you receive your food. What I loved was it was self-serve water. You had a choice between lemon water, cucumber water, or regular water. As for the restaurant, it was very clean and we sat outside on the back deck. The water was a little low but still a beautiful view.

Sweet Lou's was actually down the street and it had some foods that sounded really good. I was seated immediately and my waiter Elijah got my drink order. I asked him what he recommended and he mentioned the Tailgate Eggrolls and a burger. But I was really craving a steak and he said they had a special on prime rib. I'm a huge steak lover, especially prime ribs so I opted for that with the Tailgate Eggrolls. I suppose I was hungrier than I thought after a long day and I ate everything. The 5 Tailgate Eggrolls, a Caesar Salad (not pictured), the prime rib, and a cup of Vegetable Beef soup. The eggrolls were filled with cream cheese, jalapeños, cheese and served with a jalapeño pepper jelly. If you love cream cheese, this appetizer for you. I like crab rangoon, I like jalapeño poppers, and now I like these egg rolls. The Caesar salad was great. Fresh romaine, crunchy seasoned croutons, shredded Parmesan cheese, and fresh cracked pepper. The star of the show was the prime rib. I've had many prime ribs, rib roasts, beef roasts in my life big I've never had one smoked, which was a detail I missed when Elijah was telling me about it. Let me tell you, the smoke flavor was infused with the meat and the seasoning on the prime rib was superb. The addition of BOTH horseradish and aus jus is a nice touch. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Last but not least, the vegetable beef soup was chock full of celery, potatoes, and huge chunks of beef. Hearty and delicious indeed. If you're living here, then I'm jealous Sweet Lou's is here for you. If your visiting, pay Sweet Lou's a visit. Elijah is a fantastic server!

We figured 2 1/2 hours was safe enough to be able to have drinks dinner and get over two doors away or so and apparently it wasn't.... We ended up having pizza at the Hive. I have to say my biggest concern was these poor young and hard working servers and their responsibility ---having to face the unhappy tables when everything is so so slow and so poorly managed. We were told not to go and should have listened. She (owner) overextend herself at the diner's expense. If she wants to have that kind of a venue with that kind of menu ($$$$) she needs to close down and enlarge her kitchen and hire some staff and make it work, but otherwise, as it is now it's a ridiculous set up...

The staff were helpful and professional. Relax, unwind, and enjoy yourself here. The menu selections are quite high end and sounded tasty. My food scene is a bit different than those selections so I asked if it was possible to try one of their smash burgers. A smash burger showed up and it did not disappoint. I can safely say one of the top 5 burgers I have enjoyed in the northwest. My wife was thrilled with her fish dinner and she even ordered something else and then asked if she could change her order. They absolutely had no problem with that and delivered. Next time I was to try their appetizers. One of the better spots in Sandpoint for sure.
