I should've read the reviews before we came here. I would've asked if the manager owner was in. Apparently, he kept staring at a previous customer, they weren't backing down. I didn't see the cook with the "bouncer stance" either. So that bit of entertainment was missing.:( Anyhow, the server/hostess was a snappy little lady, definitely a lot of fun. The service was great in general. The slow down was in the kitchen, but once we heard orders being called, it came out. A bit of a wait, but worth it. One thick slice of bacon equals about two and a half scrawny pieces at other places. Really good. The eggs benny with real shaved ham, chicken fried steak were inhaled by others at the table, it was just that good. We also had the french toast (the best I've seen in awhile), and a short stack. we quit going to the Corner Cafe because of the crude mouth waitress. we heard she was finally terminated so went back. The 3rd time we went back she was back!!! It has been 2 months since then and we have no plans to ever return. These are NOT rumors or false accusation. The waitress says the "F" word constantly. And loudly!! I would call this place a hidden gem, but based on the number of people that came in after we got there, it's not hidden at all. I got the chicken fried steak with hashbrowns and a side of biscuits and gravy. They bread their steaks by hand. It was awesome. The gravy for the biscuits could use a bit more sausage in my opinion, and the hashbowns could be a wee bit crispier, but those are two minor complaints. I thought the breakfast rocked. So this is the 2nd time we have been here. The first time was not the greatest and said we'd never go back. Well today we went again to try to give it another chance. Bad mistake. The service was not great. Our waitress took our order after helping others who cane in after us. Then got our food, except my husband didn't get all of his. Waited 15 minutes and she never came back so I had to ask one of the helpers on the floor. Yep our waitress forgot it. Then we sat for about 30 more minutes eating and not once did she come over. Finally she came over, said thank you and here's your bill. I needed a box by the obvious food on table and didn't even offer me one. Again had to find one of the helpers on the floor. First time there we had slow service due to "a waitress going home ". The portions were good and the food was great. Second time around the service was just as bad and the portions were very small. Gross. I went here on a first date, ordered the appetizer potatoes with bacon and green onions; sounded like a deconstructed baked potato but had no sour cream and was sooooooo greasy!!! My date ordered the stuffed hash brown and same thing just dripping grease. My sister is celiac which means even a small amount of gluten makes her sick. We came here because it advertises a gluten free menu. However, her waffle was cooked in the same waffle iron as the waffles containing gluten. Cross contamination made her waffle containe gluten and she got sick. When she called the owner, he said, Well, nobody else complained. I was getting work done across the street on my car at Les Schwab in Post Falls. I was instantly greeted upon entering to choose where I wanted to sit. They have a very cozy environment and my server, Clarissa was friendly and attentive. She also recommended the dish I got and said, " you will like it." She was right. Where do I start! I walk in this place and everything froze. There's a man sitting at the bar who is just staring at me as he clearly doesn't want me to be here... after just staring at me and not greeting me, he goes behind the bar and grabs me silverware(still no greeting/ hello) he goes back and sit down at the bar and continues to stare at me with "the side eye!" The lady comes to greet me to take my order who seems to be kool, but seems to want to get me in and out.... All this time, the guy at the bar is still staring at me every time I look up... you know when you can just feel someone staring at you.... I ask him, "Are you ok!?" He say, "NO!" I ask him what's wrong, and he says, "I have a problem!" So I ask, "you want to talk about them!?" He says, "NO!" I clearly know what the problem is, which is obvious. So I get my food and begin to eat as he's still staring at me(he's sitting with one chair in between us). So I just continue to stare back at him until he looks away. Come to find out he's the owner/manager.... Definitely not gonna let him intimidate or make me feel uncomfortable. Anywho, the food here is definitely not worth the price and very basic. I chose to sit here at the bar with my empty glass of water which was never offered a refill, just to make him feel more of some kinda way. (After about 10 mins she finally offers me a refill, which I declined) lol I come here for work every quarter and needless to say, I will not be coming back here, and the only reason I stayed is to make him feel uncomfortable and let him know that him staring at me isn't goin to make me feel uncomfortable by the slightest. This place clearly doesn't like folk of color in this establishment. Don't waste your time or money here. Food is very basic and not worth the price at all. You can get a better meal for a better price at Dennys! This is coming from someone whom has worked in restaurants for years.... Very popular and busy place in the morning! People were friendly with a "down-home" feeling, Be sure you bring an appetite - the servings are generous. Cinnamon rolls are HUGE, and it's all baked on-site! Our waitress was the only server, and one of the owners was helping her. You can tell the locals love this place, and with good reason! We had wonderful breakfast at the Corner Cafe. The cafe is on the small side, so I imagine it fills up quickly during breakfast and lunch times. We showed up between those hours and found it about 25% capacity. Northern Idaho is the land that didn't get overly excited about covid. On the date of our meal, the mask mandate was over and we felt the world might be getting back to normal. This was my first mask free meal, in public, in over one year. The folks here were very friendly and it appears to be a family run joint. The menu was extensive with most conceivable breakfast options available. My son got strong armed (just kidding) into the mug craft hot chocolate. Wow! A work of art and delicious. Breakfast arrived for the three of us and each plate held enough food for at least two people. We all agreed the food was really good. The price was more than fair. I've only have done 5 or so reviews over time... this one deserved a write-up.. Was traveling thru town from the airport.... Saw this Corner cafe on the map and thought cool a mom&pop cafe. Cafe was 2/3 full and seemed peaceful... Service from one of the older servers was good. Food came out quickly. All was cooked ok. Place seems reasonably clean, but we know restaurants... i didn't go looking. The only bummer was the high-pitched bitching male owner running the kitchen (assuming he is the owner). Everyone in the restaurant could hear him and how he degraded the workers and performance. I watch customers look at him every 2-3 minutes as he bitched. I looked around for Chef Ramsey a few times and thought i was on TV. CR would fire this owner/operator quickly. Or, i thought i was on the show, "What would you do" Almost got up and said something, but he had the knives in his hands, or the spatula, LOL Felt sorry for the workers. Went there for breakfast today only to be extremely disappointed the service was horrible and the food was even worse. Disgusting at best. We've been meaning to try them for quite for time, but very disappointed. Wife's hash browns were very oily and raw. Her sourdough toast was burnt beyond belief. That the waitress even put her plate on our table, seeing how unappealing and unappetizing it was, told us very clearly not to consider returning. Capping off a 3-day Montana getaway of pretty unmemorable dining experiences, we finished the journey with breakfast here. Well, it wound up being the quad-fecta of middling fare. They were busy as heck with people waiting out the door, and I'm sure that effected the quality of our meals. My traditional Benny actually had quite good hollandaise, and any Benny fan will tell you that it can be hit-or-miss in diners. That's where the 'food' good ended. Poached eggs were a bit overdone but passable; Canadian Bacon was actually deli ham, which would have been okay, but the portion was pretty laughable; fried house potatoes were not fried much, or even warm; english muffin was only slightly toasted and oddly cold. It's like they had pre-toasted them and then just plated them on demand. With the joint that busy, I wasn't gonna make a fuss--but then again I never do. Daughter's crepes were not even warm as well, but 16-yr olds don't give a hoot about stuff like that. Service was absolutely top notch. All the gals in the FOH were bustin' it, genuinely friendly, and sure as heck earning their keep that morning. We were never out of water or a topped-off cup of coffee, and asked many times if there was anything else we needed. Health Hazard! A dear friend with decades of experience in restaurant industry was given A tour of restaurant. She left and advised she would never eat there again. Multiple health violations in kitchen and freezer area. Health departments has also cited them this year. This is a busy place for breakfast. Service is ok and waitress will general complain a lot. The meals are hit and miss. Big food for breakfast. Most food is quite bland. Just yer average fair . Lunch was pretty bad. Sandwich had little meat and no flavor. read more

Snd was charged for a full meal I ordered one egg .. two pieces of bacon and slice of avocado... I got three pieces of cold bacon almost 15 minutes after my friend got her meal. And then almost 10 minutes later I got two eggs delivered to my table that were covered in grease.. also I was charged the price if a full meal not the side dish prices. Not once did anyone check on us or address this issues FOR the record I did request to be able to address the issue twice before I left. I was looking for a breakfast spot in Post Falls and found this place. A small operation with friendly waitresses. Fortunately it was a weekday so it was only about 25% full. The dish ordered was a scramble of sorts - lots of food but needed some hot sauce to help flavor the dish. The coffee was decent as well. I was a bit surprised that the breakfast menu items were slightly more expensive than some Spokane breakfast joints I've been to but breakfast is now a minimum of $20 - 23 to eat out when including coffee and tip.
