Great local restaurant has it all. Good food and service I had the eggs Benedict and one pancake

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE, WILL NEVER BE BACK. They forgot to make my order. I sat at the front, 10 feet from the register. The server looked at me several times but never said a word. After more than 30 minutes the cook walks to the front and asks the server if ive gotten my order yet?! They didn't say anything to me, just hoped I wouldn't notice that my nachos and chicken strips to go that should never take more that 10 minutes MAX were now going on 45 minutes. Wish I could rate lower than one star! Save yourself some time and money, GO TO MCDONALD'S. read more

We are locals and try to support locally owned business...Frequently order pick up from Sams. Unfortunately, our meal tonight was burnt, dried out and inedible. No one answered when we called to discuss. And I ordered a breakfast omelet to take to work tomorrow...no green peppers. Am allergic to green peppers. My container says no green peppers, but here they are...just a few I've uncovered so far. read more

There dessert menu is never up to date & their soup is always either gone, dried up of all liquid, or scant. The young brunette waitress that has been working Saturday evenings is terrible! She's friendly but super lazy & VERY condescending. She doesn't care nor does she resolve problems presented to her by customers, such as a person asking about what desserts are currently actually available. Also making sure there is soup on the salad bar at dinner time (5 pm) on a Saturday would be good. I have witnessed her doing things like this on several occasions at this point. She also has young men going in the back of the resteraunt that appear to be making a social call. I avoid this place on the weekends in order to get good service from some of the other great waitresses thatvwork there. read more

The food is wonderful. Best onion rings in the valley for sure. Just love their Clam Chowder, the Chicken Fried Steak breakfast was fabulous. I've never once left disappointed in the 40+ times I've been here. read more

Food was good, service was great, prices were great. Apparently I need to add more to post this, but that's all I got

This is a great small town cafe. We have watched as they struggle to find their way, but they try so hard that it's difficult to be disappointed. Love most of the staff and the food is good and fairly consistent. We're cheering them on for sure! read more

This is one of my favorite places to eat. This is a fun family friendly diner in the silver valley. They offer a wide variety of breakfast lunch and dinner options. My favorite meals are the chicken parmesan and liver and onions. The portions are huge and everything is made from scratch. The staff is super friendly. Usually they offer a soup and salad bar which is to die for. I frequently make the drive over from Coeur d'Alene all the time just to eat at this restaurant. read more

Sam's Restaurant - This is the stunning views from the restaurant of Silver Mountain. - American Near Me - Kellogg, Idaho

Had worms in my daughters oatmeal. There were so many meal worms it looked like the whole plate was moving. I couldn't believe it and the waitress played it off like it was no big deal. They offered to give us our oatmeal for free but in the meantime we had all lost our appetite. I called to speak with the manager a week later and they didn't even bother to return my phone call. This place is a dump and I wish Covid would've killed it off. Be warned! read more

Tasty, hand pressed lean burgers, from a local rancher, with just the right amount of seasoning on them served with good fries = a rockin' burger. If you have room, order one of their awesome shakes, especially the huckleberry when in season....fantastic. Also, they have good breakfast burritos, and this place seems to always be packed with locals. The staff is always smiling and service is always good. When I'm in the area, either form riding the Hiawatha or camping in Montana, I always stop here. read more

Great food and friendly, fast service. It is a small diner that has some history. Excited to come back and eat here again!

We had to wait 55 minutes after we ordered for our food to arrive. The food was just ok once it arrived, but not great.

So freaking good!!! We ate dinner one night then went back the next day and had breakfast (as lunch). Price was totally reasonable. Proportions were very large. I will absolutely want to come back when I'm in town again! My husband and son were also very impressed. We're a happy and full family! read more

Amazing. That's the only word for this place! Great hidden gem of a place! It's small but comfortable. Great friendly staff with exceptional small town customer service. The menu had many options and the food tasted awesome couldn't have asked for more! I will be back if I'm in the area for sure read more

This is our family's go-to diner when we're at Silver; sometimes, I feel, even more highly anticipated than the ski slopes! Really friendly, hard working folks here and fantastic breakfasts. Warning: the Gut Buster lives up to its name (totally worth it though). Portions are large. If you're just passing through (I.e. not prepared to take leftovers), definitely would recommend splitting an order, unless you're really really hungry (and prepared to not move for an hour). Have eaten here once for lunch and was also pleased. Very reasonably priced. Only thing I'll note is that they can be a little slow depending on how many people are working.. But I promise it's worth the wait! read more

They were ok ...friendly staff with prompt service. The diner was so fricken cold and no escaping air vents. I couldn't even get warm with my heavy jacket zipped all the way up. After complaints they did turn off the air but took forever to get warm Spaghetti sauce was nasty and it was loaded with sauce. Chicken ceaser salad had just as much bacon as chicken and they went dressing heavy. I must say most customers were ordering sandwiches and burgers and those looked really good. We would have sent our food back and got burgers but it took a very long time to get our food and we were so cold we just wanted to get out. Oh and skip the bread pudding. Get a huclkleberry shake read more

Great service! Order carefully unless you want to fall asleep at the wheel. Food well prepared! It takes a trained chef to get over easy eggs to be served perfectly, no crispy edges, creamy yolk... divine. Bacon pretty limp but that was my fault, I forgot to order it crispy I will be back!!! read more

Not very impressed, service was very good and the food was ok but not phenomenal. Had the chicken fried steak not very good Companions liver was outstanding however could be good all around with a little work read more

Great food, consistent hours, breakfast all day and a true diner setting. Reasonable prices

Really great simple food, tasty and nice portions... best biscuits and gravy we've had! Friendly service and good atmosphere. The chili was a little under seasoned for my taste but other than that I totally recommend! read more

Breakfast all day... this is your classic diner in a small town, gotta love it! Friendly service and accommodating to the client's needs ie: I prefer fruits and vegetable than hash browns and toast/pancake/English muffin with my omelette, the server just smile and said, "No problem, hun" read more

Stopped in for a quick lunch. Great food and easy access off the Freeway. Well worth the stop.

Place had a real "at home" atmosphere! Very friendly staff, clean throughout, and ample leg/arm room. Food was beyond delicious and huge portions for a great price! Definitely a place to stop at on long road trips! read more

What a gem of a place, I'll be here again. Great value, unlimited soup and salad bar with my meal for under $15.00, and attentive and friendly staff. read more

The All American Dinner. There's really nothing special about Sam's. It's a touch better then your average Denny's, and for that I'm thankful. The staff is friendly and I appreciated the speed of service. Likewise, all the glass really let's you look outside. If you looking for a quick fix, maybe go here. But then again, why not somewhere better? read more

When you think of a classic diner, this is it. The food is great and the service is friendly. The prices are a little steep, but the portions are very large. Breakfast served all day makes this the only place that you can get breakfast past 11. Almost 5 stars but not quite, 4 stars. read more

I ate breakfast at Sam's and it satisfies as a roadside diner. Actually, it's a bit upscale in appearance - more like a Denny's - but the wait staff are warm and welcoming, with a nice sense of humor. Very much appreciated at 7 am. The food was . . . okay. Scrambled eggs were folded like an omelet with nothing inside. The hash browns tasted a bit like the oil in which they were cooked. I asked for them to be prepared "crispy" and they were, more or less. The toast was ordinary. I'd eat here again, next time I'm in Kellogg. I'd never eat in this restaurant, if it were in Seattle. read more

Although the prices were great and the service was friendly the food was underwhelming. My French dip was made with very thin meat and the au jus was cold. The French fries were soggy and lacked any flavor. The salad bar had ice berg lettuce and no additional vegetables, it was accompanied by cottage cheese, potato salad, pasta salad and a few random toppings. Not by any means what I would call a salad bar. The other members of my party had better luck with delightful onion rings and a large cinnamon roll. read more

This is the best restaurant in the northern part of Idaho. It doesn't look like much, especially being in a small town but WOW! I have never had a burger quite this delicious and the homemade onion rings are out of this world. The service is amazing. read more

Was sceptical coming here based on the reviews I had read here on yelp. When we pulled into the parking lot it was full of local patrons (we were here on vacation). Anytime I see a place packed with locals I get excited. We walked in and were greeted right away and taken to a booth. The menu was perfect size with several breakfast options. I did a 3 egg bacon omelet and it was PACKED WITH BACON!!! I MEAN PACKED FULL!!! it was delicious! My wife had the sausage omelet that was great as well. My son had a single pancake (that was the size of his head!!!!) with a side of bacon, which was very tasty. The staff was great and I know why the locals come here every morning...because it is great! Oh and the prices can't be beat! Trust the locals! read more

Sam's is my favorite breakfast restaurant! Everything I've had is delicious with a home cooked feel.

Nice breakfast place in Kellogg. 2d time we've been here. Friendly staff even when busy like this morning.

We just moved to Wallace, down the road from Kellogg. With all our stuff -- including our kitchen supplies -- still buried and boxed, we're trying out the local restaurants to see which ones we'll like. Sam's was a winner this morning. I ordered the sirloin breakfast, and the steak was absolutely delicious. Tender, juicy, nicely seasoned, and rare just like I ordered it. The sunny-side-up eggs came out pretty good, too. My wife got a massive cinnamon roll that filled her plate, and my daughter enjoyed her burger. Decent coffee to top it off. Overall, good diner food and friendly staff. No complaints. read more

Amazing breakfast and extremely friendly people!! We are from California so we are always amazed by friendly people.

I picked up a large order to go and the service was prompt and the meals were well priced. The food was ready when I arrived from the silver mountain lodging. The food was very delicious and plentiful. I ordered two orders of the small gut buster (basically half order, and after the fact I realized I should have just ordered a full order...it was early and lesson learned). It was the perfect size and very flavorful. The other orders were the egg, meat and hash brown breakfasts. More than the kids could eat. I can only rate the breakfast, I have not tried any other meal yet. read more

Every time we come through the area, we always stop by Sam's for breakfast. A classic place of what the diner used to be like "back in the day". The server is outstanding every time - down to earth and very friendly. We'll be back! read more
