Sam's is an old school NY System spot that definitely knows how to handle their business. As expected, the wieners were completely on point in every way. From the nicely steamed buns to the great quality weiner, served hot, to the perfect amount of mustard and tasty meat sauce with perfect texture to the finely chopped onions, this is how it's supposed to be. The onion rings were crispy and perfectly fried as well. Not greasy at all. Not homemade either but you're not really going to care that much because they are very tasty. The owner free handed and eyeballed the coffee milk right from a gallon jug into the cup to absolute perfect ratios. Much better than those places that have it on tap. This is a great spot for lunch if you're looking for some wieners and fries or onion rings. Super friendly service. Reasonable prices. Nice people all around. It's a great little, locally owned and operated business and those are becoming fewer and further apart nowadays. Support these kind of places or they will go away. read more

Buns are not steamed, wieners themselves do not have the classic square cut ends (denoting authenticity) and do not have the signature texture and flavor of a veal-containing original, and the sauce is close, but not the classic. While I can't attest to the wieners, as I don't eat meat, this place was a winner! My friends did enjoy the famous wieners but the friendly staff and other patrons set it apart. Their hotdogs just seem to be getting shorter and shorter. They do not have thee appearance of a normal hotdog. They really look like Vienna Sausages, but larger. They have weird blunt cut ends. They are good but I truly believe I'm getting less and less for my money! read more

Quintessential weiner joint tucked away in a strip mall in Warwick. The rolls are fresh, the dogs are grilled nicely and the sauce is meaty. Extra points because these dogs do not give me extreme gastric distress... Nice friendly service and reasonable prices in a well kept shop. Sam's participated in the Richmond Town tree lighting. I honestly wasn't sure I wanted to try a food truck NY system dog but one whiff and I was in line. The wieners were great, soft, warm roll and a super tasty meat sauce. We will for sure be making a drive to brick and mortar location. Be sure to get a couple "all the way"! read more

We were in Rhode Island for a track meet and colleagues who are from RI said we had to have NY System Weiners. Sam's was recommended as the best choice in the Warwick area. A modest place, clean and friendly we sat at the counter. Ordered 6 Weiners all the way and asked to have a 7th wrapped up to go. Buy 6 get 1 free By the way. Had a coffee milk too & my son went with the shaved steak and fries. All were delicious and though a little smaller than regular dogs very filling. The meat *sauce* was tasty and all flavors melded well. We enjoyed watching lots of Weiners being made. While we watched the cook/owner gave us a lesson on NY system Weiners. Good food if you can stand the scenery Sam's is a relatively small place, just a few tables and a counter with a limited menu. I suspect a lot of people order food here for take out. The meals are good and inexpensive. Not a lot to choose from but what they make they make well. Hamburgers, cheeseburgers, grilled cheese, chicken sandwiches, hot wieners, and of course fish and chips comprise they majority of the menu. Some appetizers like wings, mozzarella sticks and jalapeno poppers are available but that's pretty much it. You take what they have or you go somewhere else. The portions are quite generous for the price and the food is consistently good. I guess when you make the same few things over and over you get pretty good at it. This definitely isn't heath food but it fills you up and certainly isn't deceptive. This place is exactly what it looks like. The service is quick and to the point. Not a lot of amenities or irrelevant platitudes. Here's your food, shut up and eat it. Not rude or unpleasant, just New York efficient. People come here for the food not the socializing. A pretty cool and cheap place to go if you're in the mood for a quick burger or some fish and chips. Just be warned, it is a New York place. That means the decor is New York and of course that means the inevitable shitty Yankee pictures will be hanging from the walls. Not just pictures but in this case posters. Huge posters. Went for lunch with Kev-dog. Classic wiener. It was perfect. I just had one and that worked out great, there was no post traumatic heartburn or gross burps. Also had fries - average and a cheese burger - average Wiener was the shining star. Guy behind counter also had shirt unbuttoned at the top with some Chest hair showing which made everything feel so much more authentic. Highly recommended. When "home" I always seek out my RI favorites. Newport, maple walnut ice cream, coffee syrup, and of course,, hot wieners!!! What is a weiner you ask? Well, it's a very small, orangey colored "hot dog". This delicacy is served on a steamed bun (so it's hot and soft) and it's a MUST to order it "all the way" which means it has yellow mustard, chopped raw onion. a meat sauce, and sprinkled with celery salt. Mmmmmm. heaven on a roll !! And Sam's makes them pretty darn good. I also ordered some fries for my grandson and they were pretty good, very creamy, not at all dry & hard. Years ago, in a good weiner joint (it is NEVER a nice restaurant, but a dive, as is Sam's. A few tables and a few seats at a counter) the guy making the wieners used to line the buns up his arm so that he had about a dozen of them lined up his hairy arm. Ewwwwwww... not at all It was a marvel... and we loved to see how many he could do at one time. I'm sure the department of health put a stop to this because I do not see that happen any more. :-( I have no doubt that every time I visit my son, I will come to Sam's. Cost me $10 for 3 wieners and a medium order of fries. Bring cash! I guess that's pretty good, but I remember when they were $1 each! They will give you one free one if you order 6 however. I've lived in RI all my life. Throughout my childhood I heard people talk about wieners. And I would giggle... Then when my SO called them GAGGERS. Well, that made me giggle even more. But there's nothing funny about them. After living two decades in this wiener obsessed state, I tried my first one HERE at Sam's. It was like onion topped meaty mustardy heaven on a bun! I like my gaggers "all the way." I can't compare these gaggers to other places, as I've only come to Sam's since. But I'm addicted. I give the home-made onion rings five stars. Period. I give the wieners 4.0 stars. The best we've had recently. The counter guy was good to us too, even if the guy is a Yankees fan, which shows everywhere in the shop. Menu looks real good, and we're coming back for other stuff. If you are a Yankees fan, you should go here on principle. We have been to three wiener places this week, me, Andres and Omar. We agreed that Sam's was better than the last batch we got in Olneyville. Hard to find, so if you look for the Subway Sandwich on Sandy Lane, you can find this place.
