If you have ever searched for pizza around Nashville, there is a good chance you have seen a Sal's! They are located all around Nashville metro, with this particular location situated on the corner in a small complex flanked by the Kroger on Hillsboro Road. While I have seen many Sal's, this location was my first venture into their pies and slices. Sal's is a classic NY style pizza, big and thin, with a little snap, but also a gentle flexible crust. It holds up well and is spot on for a classic NY style pie. Sal's is in a great spot in the complex, as being on the corner gives them premium space that includes a nice sized dining room plus a small patio. All my trips here have been for takeout, some order ahead, others order at the counter. Either way, orders have always been timely and correct. I am normally a classic slice fella, so a consistent for me is building my own, but I have enjoyed a few house pies including the buffalo chicken and white pizza. In addition to pizza, they have a wide variety of other Italian dishes from pastas to calzone, sandwiches, etc... Service has always been solid, never any issues. Haven't been to Sal's in years and so glad we stopped in! They recently remodeled and it looks great! Service was fantastic! I can't remember the girl who was our server , however she was awesome, attentive and so sweet with my kiddo! We did a 1/2 cheese and 1/2 veggie - it was delicious! Sauce was really well balanced. What happened to Sal's? Not going back. Last March I gave a stellar review of the new Chicken Plicata item. I went back looking forward to another serving. It was nothing like the first time. One half of a chicken breast, no capers, no lemon and a teaspoon of mushrooms for $26 plus taxes and tip. Ok. I said you go to Sals's for the pizza. Same night out at Sal's the tabled ordered a large white pizza with two toppings. The pizza came without any toppings. They took the pizza back to the Kitchen and returned it to our table with a few of the toppings on a cold pizza. No reheat, no back in the oven and no fixing this damaged pizza. Who does that? Sad to say not returning as there are many places to get a pizza in town and Sal's' is not for us anymore. read more

Love Sal's authentic Italian pizza and calzones normally. All ingredients are usually fresh but I am not sure what went wrong when I ordered a calzone with mushrooms, onions, peppers, sausage, spinach, and cheese and the smell and taste were great! However, after my son in law ate it, he got extremely sick and started to throw-up violently all night. Not sure if something was wrong with the sausage. My daughter and I had some of the calzone but she didn't get sick. I started to feel sick at nighttime. Drank ginger and peppermint tea and I am fine the next morning. The only thing I can say that was different was that he ate the sausage and added the Parmesan cheese packet. For that I am lowering the rate. I ordered meatballs for appetizer, a slice of meat lovers pizza, lasagna, and tiramisu for dessert. Yes I ate it all by myself! The meatballs are hearty and very moist, swimming in marinara and mozz. Truthfully I've never eaten meatballs at any restaurant this moist and flavorful. Perfection. Pizza: New York style, thin and foldable. Big slice and delicious. Lasagna: not frozen! NOT stouffers! This is one raises the bar for anyone attempting to offer lasagna. The pasta sheets were light with a delicate chew. More filling and sauce than pasta, best balance in my opinion. The serving is big enough to fill a normal person's belly. But I'm not normal and enjoy eating very much. Highly recommend this dish. Tiramisu: not frozen!!! Not store bought! This dessert topped it all off for me. You know how some tiramisu you order is like a cake? Not the case here, homemade with legit lady fingers and dark chocolate/espresso topping. My favorite part about it was that I could still taste the coffee liqueur used to soak the lady fingers in. IYKYK Don't think twice about coming here, just go. The food has always been good here. We really loved the atmosphere and that it's a neighborhood place and locally owned. However, the service and customer service attitude has declined over the past year. Sadly, this last time we visited will probably be the last. We might order takeout but not worth it to be treated poorly. The servers have become pretty snobby (why?). And, only half of our entrees came out while we waited another 30 minutes before they brought the rest, after asking twice. We honestly believe it was taken to another table. Struggling to understand how this place is even in business. Paid $9.99 for trash white bread with literal squares of cheese barely melted on it and labeled as "garlic cheese bread". As well as a salad that was $9.49 that was barely chopped lettuce with three fat slices of tomato and three fat slices of cucumber and a package of store bought ranch. The pizza was not fully cooked and was just decent. The delivery with fees made the whole ordeal around $75 for an absolutely trash meal. Sal's hs been a staple in Franklin for yrs... So, I started going and was referring to others because they had some of the best lunch deals in town... Well, I can't say the same for them anymore... Not only have entrees increased, the portion sizes have decreased... And, the lunch specials went from $8.99 to $13 and above...That's too much of an increase for me... I won't be going frequently anymore or referring anyone... It's sad that establishments have to make such drastic changes... They mess up a good thing and turn off their regular customers! read more

Not the same place! I miss the old staff. They have two girls working in there who are like dumb and dumber. They get super irritated and argumentative with customers and don't listen when they take your order. They messed up our order but it wasn't a big deal. It was the way they treated the other customers while we were in there that was appalling. They were making fun of the way customers looked and even commented that one didn't need to be in there eating pizza because of their size. They didn't make these comments directly to the customers but I heard them so it was loud enough. It was awful! Finally, they were more concerned with what they were going to do when they got off work then helping the other staff members. I paid to the rude guy at counter (pretty sure the owner). He proceeded my order while talking down to a server (in my opinion). I came home 1.2 miles to discover I got 2 cold pizzas. The "small" was a medium & missing toppings! Honestly I would call back but don't want to deal with it. We reheated our pizzas & added missing toppings. Ordered through Yelp via GrubHub. Driver was friendly, texted me when he was at the restaurant and again when he was on his way. He brought our order all the way up to our hotel room, which was much appreciated. That was the best part of this experience. Pizza was't the least bit warm and one of the two pizzas we ordered was missing the toppings. The sauce was good and I think that if we had ate at the restaurant while it was fresh, it might have been decent. It was just cold and pretty hard by the time we got. Eggplant parm was okay, I did really like the marinara, although it was also cold. It was really hard to eat with a spoon that we got from the hotel from desk since no plasticware was included, maybe ask for it if you decide to give them a chance... Tiramisu was okay. Cheese cake was standard but good. Limoncello cake had several spots of MOLD on it. Someone had to pay absolutely no attention to what they were doing when they put that piece of moldy cake in our bag. Because I ordered through GrubHub, I had to contact them about the issues. The GrubHub rep was friendly and refunded me the cost of the missing toppings and the moldy piece of cake. Because of the moldy cake, I wouldn't really suggest this place. It makes me wonder what other freshness issues they have with their food. If you do decide to give them a try, I would suggest dining in so that your food might be hot and fresh. We just moved into town and were very hungry after a full day of unpacking. Anything (short of eating the cardboard boxes) would have tasted great. Sadly Sal's lasagna with meat sauce was a huge disappointment . The meat, wedged between limp pasta, resembled and tasted like spam. The round tin container was lukewarm but the lasagna's interior was cold. The cheese and sauce were tasteless. The lasagna looked like it had been made days ahead of time and slightly warmed up. My husband, who will eat anything, threw his out and said he would find a better lasagna in any supermarket freezer. Sal did throw in a small four-inch piece of skinny Italian bread that was cold but wrapped in tin foil. The small Cesar salad that we ordered tasted fresh, So leave the lasagna, try the salad. We picked up the $20 pre-paid order from a table filled with other plastic bags without a "hello" or "thank-you" from the cashier at the Franklin location. read more

The other day we did a delivery from Sal's for the first time, and I think we found ourselves a new favorite pizza place! We ordered a small double cheese and double pepperoni with a thin New York style crust and it was delicious. The sauce and crust were really good, and they gave us the amount of double toppings that we expected. I'd definitely order this one again. The second pizza we ordered was a small white pizza on a thin NY style crust which was also delicious. I liked the slightly browned cheese and the liberal amount of garlic on this pie. I think next time I may try this pie with some onions and tomatoes. For dessert we ordered the Italian doughnuts (I forgot the real name) and they were also very good. These are made with fried yeast dough and have a coating of fine sugar and a side of chocolate dipping sauce. I had several and it was a nice ending for a great meal. The prices for this pizza were somewhat on the higher end, but I really felt that the price was reasonable for the food quality. The food was delivered quickly and was still very hot even though it was pretty cold outside. I was impressed from the first bite to the last, and wouldn't mind trying more of their menu items. I enjoyed our first experience with Sal's, and I'm really looking forward to ordering from them again very soon! Here's an update... Today we ordered curbside pickup and the meals were wonderful. I ordered lasagna which was delicious. I particularly liked the fresh taste of the tomato sauce, and the mozzarella cheese they use is amazing. I'd definitely order that again. Went to Sal's Pizza for lunch today, big MISTAK! Hard to believe they would serve or present a burnt crust pizza to a customer! The edge was black and the center of the pizza was soggy with grease! Talked to the server and he had really nothing to say how bad it was and acted like no big deal! Pizza had been sitting for awhile and then they tried to heat it back up and burnt the edge bad.
