Amazing French/American fusion restaurant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great service, great food, fun vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Always a great stop and it also has an excellent happy hour menu.

After hearing about this place for years I finally had a chance to visit. Maybe it used to be a great spot 10-15 years ago but that wasn't my experience. We visited on a Friday around 7 and there were plenty of open seats. I arrived a few minutes ahead of my dining companion and was asked if I would like something to drink but opted to wait. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The decor was pretty basic. Not as upscale as I had expected. It was very brightly lit and decorated with a variety of tables and booths. Nothing seemed very private as the whole place was open. Overall I got an Italian style decor vibe instead of French restaurant for some reason.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When my friend arrived we were asked about drinks but she had just sat down so needed a minute. We ordered a bottle of wine and then seemingly were forgotten until I had to flag down the waiter to order. He seemed to be the only one covering around 5 tables but wasn't overly present or active with any specific table. Throughout the evening he seemed fairly uninterested overall. We ordered a baked Brie, croque monsieur and rabbit ragu. Brie was slices, not a round or wedges, with some figs and nuts and a side of honey that had spilled on the plate. It was pretty good but didn't expect the slices and the actual dish was so hot I burned my finger. Sandwich was huge with lots of fries. Overall maybe the best deal on the menu based on volume. My friend didn't comment either way so I assume it was good. Rabbit ragu started out good. Lots of meat, noodles done well, not too much sauce. It was just near the end that I had the unfortunate few bites with some bones. Overall service was prob a 2,2.5/5. Food was a generous 3/5, decor was 2.5/5 and overall value for experience was also 2. Glad I went to try it out, prob won't go back again.

5 stars for food- brought down by server. Spoke so softly couldn't hear her at all and honestly wasn't attentive or outgoing or anything. Disappointing for a bday dinner- but food is great always. Just wished for a more present server.

Great place for a Happy Hour after work. We had a party of 6 hoping to sit outside on the patio, but the outdoor seating only allowed for parties of 4 or less. The inside was also beautiful, so we still had a good time. The happy hour oysters on a half shell were DELICIOUS! They were removed from the menu for a while during the pandemic, but they're baaaack! I also love their aperol spritz cocktails. I left out one star because of service. Our waiter was just okay. He was neither friendly, nor attentive. Also, there was an extra drink on my bill that I didn't order. He removed it before I paid, but it did bother me.

We went for happy hour and I think the best way to describe everything would be "ok". It's your stereotypical French bistro with decor to match. The patio is dog friendly. The service was good but pretty slow for only having 3-4 tables seated. I'm sure there are better options on the menu but for the price I expected a bit better. The "Grande Aioli" seemed like everything was out of a box from the grocery store. Undersized muscles and small, Kroger-esque cocktail shrimp. It was really lacking a sauce or, ironically, aioli because everything was dry and unseasoned. The bacon cheese bread was better. Very tender from the bacon fat and salty from the cheese. Whipped butter is whipped butter. Could have used some honey or a tart/savory jam?

We haven't been her in many years and came by for dinner. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place still has the nice old fashioned French bistro decor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The host, server, and manager checked up on us many times and made sure we were happy. Everything tasted amazing. I really loved my prime rib cooked perfectly medium rare with savory aus jus and horseradish sauce. My wife loved her tuna nicoise salad. Highly recommend!

Baked Brie (pistachio, dried figs & cherries, honey, apple & warm honey baguette), Warm Gougeres (French cheese puffs with honey butter), + Niçoise salad w/ salmon (haricots verts, potato, marinated olives, hard cooked egg, anchovy vinaigrette) Putting aside my highly biased opinion of baked brie being a top 3 cheese...Salut Bar American is a solid choice! The brie was sweet, savory, with a lovely crunch from the pistachio + apple. The gougeres were like soft, cheesy little pillows and the salad was packed with flavor (if you like olives you'd love this salad). In the true French sense, the service was a bit laissez-faire making it ideal for great conversation...but maybe not the best place if you're in a time crunch!

Good wine, good patio, what more does one need?

I came in for a quick glass of wine after work. They've got some great choices for Happy Hour--I really loved the white blend. While I didn't get anything to eat myself, they do have some choices for happy hour along with some tasty-looking dinner options. The service was prompt and helpful (thanks for helping me find the driest white!), and the prices for happy hour were great. They have a really cute patio space as well as a lovely indoor area (the bar is lovely).

As I walked towards the entry way and snuck a peak at other patrons food as they were dining in the patio, I knew exactly what I wanted to order. But I didn't know what it was labeled on the menu item. So when I explained it to the waiter, he informed me it was the halibut. It was one of the best halibuts I've had in a while. It was non fishy and light. So Easy to digest so that I was able complete a one mile walk subsequently after dinner. The calamari was nice , I'd give the calamari a 7 but the halibut was a 10. The outdoor patio experience was pleasing in an amusing way. It was impossible to eavesdrop on neighboring conversation because everyone who sat around us spoke various international languages. Yes I will be back for the halibut and try more of their menu items. Their desert menu was tempting too. Next time I will save room.

Salut! I've been wanting to visit Salut for quite some time, and we finally did, and it was a great decision! A few days earlier, I made a reservation, so when we arrived, we were taken directly to our table. All of the waitstaff were attentive and made sure we were satisfied. We went on a Sunday and during the time of the day when they served both brunch and lunch. 3 of us got brunch while the other 3 got lunch. All of us were happy with our selection, and the food tasted great. If you're looking for a fun place with a French flame, you have to stop into Salut.

I come here a lot, it's my favorite restaurant in the area. The croque monsieur is divine. And get the fresh baguette!

The wait staff were superb, 5 plus stars for our waitress. The food was average. I took my son here for his 35 birthday. He is a foodie as well and has a high appreciation for excellent food. He was also disappointed. We had the Pommes which were very disappointing. Also had the turnips were hard and there was very little turnip. The pea soup was good. We both had the lobster and spaghetti which was good but nothing special. I had small pieces of lobster and my son had larger and more pieces. We skipped dessert. Maybe my standards are too high coming from NYC. I may give this restaurant one more try and try some other dishes.

Here's a rundown of our amazing meal: Starters: The Kanpachi CRUDO, POMMES DAUPHINES (with amazing gruyère dipping sauce) and Chilled GREEN GAZPACHO (they split this for us since it's a soup) were all fantastic. Entrees: The Walleye was great and we really enjoyed the AMERICAN WAGYU STEAK butchers cut. They all had great and unique flavors. Desserts: The server recommended the peach cobbler and we received a delicious complimentary sundae since we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Cocktails: I really enjoyed the Paper Plane since I like tequila and my husband liked his Old Fashion. The Spritz was also refreshing. The server did a great job pacing everything, and was knowledgeable with the menu and the waitstaff was polite and attentive. We reserved a table outside since it was a nice summer day and enjoyed our little spot along the restaurant. Other tips: We found free parking in the lot at the building at 5:00. Make reservations several weeks in advance if you want a table since this place is super popular. The location used to be the Revival restaurant if you are familiar with the area or the previous restaurant. We would definitely dine here again and it's one of my favorite restaurants now. Highly recommend for a special occasion.

Our server, Freeman, was attentive and gave great recommendations. He was knowledgeable on the menu and spoke french! He was such a joy! We ordered the chicken liver smear which tasted sweet and salty. It was the perfect first course to start our meal. We then moved onto the cassoulet. We did not enjoy this, the duck confit base was a bit too heavily oiled for us so instead we ordered the steak frites and burger. We loved our second choices and were happy with those selections. Then, we ordered affogato for dessert. Meritage makes their ice cream homemade and it was a good ending to the meal. The restaurant was busy but voices did not carry. And obviously that was our big mistake. We sat for a long time as people were brought bread and their appetizers and meals. After about 30 minutes, we finally got about four tiny slices of cold bread and some butter tossed on our table. I ran out of water. About 45 minutes into this I went looking for a manager. What we figured out is that the server forgot to put our order in. We waited another 45 minutes for food. I asked to have a substantial discount on the bill considering it took over 1.5 hours for us to get our food. And I had ordered a simple salad and nothing else. We noticed other waiters glancing at our table. I mean, you would think somebody would notice us sitting there in the main traffic area. Just never being served until I asked what was going on. In the end, we got a 50% discount. But it was such a disheartening experience and felt so unwelcoming that I don't think we'll be back.

We arrived 5 minutes early for our 5:00pm reservation and were told we needed to wait outside because they were having a meeting (it was 94 degrees outside). We then waited until 5:03pm when we were finally let in (now we are sweating profusely). Btw, when we were walking up they had just let others in and they were seated when we entered. Bad start, but we were hopeful our meal would be great. We were seated at the bar (per our reservation) and were handed one menu for the two of us. Our primary server was the bartender, who was quite kind but was in a tough spot with the owner watching her every move and ridiculing her right in front of us. They had no greens on their limited menu so we asked if they had any sort of side salad, but were ignored. We also asked if the ribs came with a vegetable; the owner did not know and said she would check with the chef. She never returned with an answer. The soup was good, the rest was below average. We ordered the focaccia which came in a brown paper bag and stapled?? The rib plate contained 3 ribs (which were dry, not very big and had little sauce). The ribs came with wasabi mashed potatoes, but there was no wasabi flavor to be found. If you are going to have a limited menu with one item, it better be really good - it was not. The owner made it a habit of asking everyone how their food was and before you could answer she would answer "yummy?" for you. Not only annoying, but it was obvious she did not really want to know. We almost felt like our presence was an inconvenience to the owner. Needless to say, we will not be back, nor will our dozens of friends who will hear about our experience. It was very disappointing!!
