Stopped by the Westminster, CO Saltgrass location for an impromptu lunch. The restaurant was not busy around 1 PM, a ton of open tables and we were promptly seated. The service was OK, not great, but not terrible either. The waiter took forever to take our order and I still can't figure out why... The food was amazing! There were a number of well lunch specials, very reasonably priced. I opted for the steak tips and they were delicious! It was chunks of beef served a top of a mound of mashed potatoes, smothered, and brown gravy with delicious mushrooms. It also came with one side and I opted for the steamed broccoli. The plate was under $18 and I was shocked at how much food was served and how delicious the meal was. My husband opted for a 6 ounce sirloin and shrimp lunch special and it was delicious! It came with a side and a soup or salad and was around $25. We started with the bacon appetizer and did not get a sweet treat after lunch but OMG, the bacon was delicious! Can't wait to go back to try a couple of other things off of the menu. The restaurant was clean and all in all we spent under $70 for a huge meal with lots of leftovers, perfectly cooked and extremely tasty! We made reservations for Valentine's Day and went to saltgrass steakhouse for an early dinner... My husband and I had not been here before the place was packed with a waiting line at 4:30 PM if that's any indication of good food... I'm thrilled we made a reservation! The food was spectacular. We had a fillet and had the mushroom and onion topping, which was really good. You also receive wonderful warm bread to your table. We upgraded to the wedge salad and it was absolutely delicious... What was even more amazing is that my husband and I decided to split our dinner and they actually split our entire dinner onto two plates for each serving and it was spectacular and well done. We did not ask for this. They just did it on their own. What a pleasant surprise. They have a wonderful selection of drinks and a very warm and cozy atmosphere. We will certainly come here again. My husband and I went here on a date night, we come here a lot with our family so it wasn't our first time anyway we were told a 25 minute wait which we were okay with since we didn't have a reservation . After 45 minutes of waiting and watching groups of 5 or 6 people go in front of us without reservations either, My husband went to the host stand and was told we would be seated next. We get to our table and we got our menus and again waited a long period of time before someone finally came up to us and got our drinks and food ordered, we were very understanding throughout this whole situation since they were very busy. After getting our food we noticed the steaks (which is the main thing we come here for) was very chewy and had lots of fat pieces. With the Price you pay we expected a lot better from this place. I on the other hand left slightly sick to my stomach and still slightly hungry. I have severe dairy and gluten allergies. Asked for the chef to tell me what I could eat. Offered a plain piece of salmon. Really? How creative. (Eye roll). I ordered a salad with strawberries and spinach that is an additional fee. They brought me the salad with grated cheese then denied it was cheese. Lied right to my face. Two of the men at the table tasted the "egg crumbles" and definitely found it was cheese. Then they brought me another salad with buttered pecans on the salad. Seriously? I had started eating the salad and the manager came over and said stop eating as there is butter on the pecans. We all expect a steak house to nail their steaks--so, this review will speak to the other "little things". Bread: (included with meal). Anybody been to England or Ireland? You'll be familiar with "brown bread". Saltgrass nails the bread! It's not your traditional "yeasty, white bread". The bread has depth and the loaf easily serves two people. Excellent! Soup: Baked Potato ($5.49/cup or $7.49/bowl). The soup includes chunks of potato, combined with Sharp Cheddar Cheese, bacon bits, celery, a hint of garlic, and other additions. It's like having a loaded baked potato in a soup! I would bathe in this soup! Seriously, it could be the best soup I have EVER tasted! JUST ORDER IT! Entree: NY Strip ($34). Perfectly cooked (I order medium rare). The steak melts in your mouth and the pat of butter on top adds some additional fat. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! (photo attached) Side: Flash Fried Green Beans. I love all vegetables, and it's hard to make a side dish distinct. The green beans were perfectly blistered, which allowed them to be crisp but flavorful. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! When some people asked what was going on, the server said that they only one bartender and we needed to be patient. 30 minutes???? Staff genuinely seemed surprised and unprepared for my little group. The person at the front desk of the Hampton Inn highly recommended this nearby location. She indicated "they're open late". It was 9:20 PM, so we thought that'd be like 11:00 PM or something, but they're open to 10. We made our way up to the hill and walked in with 32 minutes until closing. We never felt rushed and everyone was quite friendly. It's been a lot while since I've been to a Saltgrass Steak House. This one seemed to be better than what I remembered. My only disappointment was the limited choice of beers on tap. The four or five on tap were a good selection, I just expected a bigger selection. My filet mignon tenderloins were cooked to perfection. The flash fried green beans were awesome and the cream soup of the day, the baked potato soup, was excellent. Seasoning across the board was very good but not overpowering. The ambiance is fun and cozy. The tables do not feel crowded together, though I don't if it would feel a little more crowded during peak hours. I like the view into the kitchen. Our server was excellent. We didn't get her name but she was attentive, working the bar area on 04 Oct 24, and knew her stuff. She was never intrusive but never kept us waiting. An excellent experience across the board. I asked for it rare... and not just rare, but as rare as possible. This picture is what I got. I would charitably call this Porterhouse "medium." You guys charge $50 to mess up the main thing you sell, which is allegedly steak grilled to the customer's liking? I'm so disappointed. I was really looking forward to dinner, and to me, a person who hates overcooked meat, this is almost inedible... I'll have to make it into a sandwich or something. At least the salad and asparagus were fine. And in case you think it was just my steak, my bf reported that HIS steak (which he ordered medium-rare) was not cooked correctly either. His friend got some kind of shrimp dish, and he reported it was "meh" (sorry, I don't know what was meant by this, but the point is that everyone was let down by this meal). And no, they were not busy, it was late afternoon on a Sunday. What the hell. This is the first time we've tried this place, and I expect it'll be the last unless we go somewhere and have no other choice. Sigh. Edit to add: man, I was crabby when I posted this! We had dinner there tonight as a party of five. Dinner was good and the service was fantastic. Everything was cooked as ordered. The deep fried mushroom appetizer was very tasty with a little spice to them and a lot more mushrooms to the serving than expected. Our drinks were good too and had the right amount of alcohol to mix ratio (two of our party are bartenders at other local restaurants who said they'll be back for happy hour). The only thing that kept me from giving 5 stars is that the rib steak was a bit on the thin side, although it arrived at the table cooked to medium rare, by the time I was less than halfway done with it it ended up being medium. The Saltgrass started out as a hoot of a Texas steak "garden" just west of Austin. You'd go into this countryside auditorium-sized dining hall and sit at a picnic table along with your new 500 friends. For $15 or so you'd have a very good (Choice Grade) slab o' honkin' beef along with a salad and baked potato served by a truly nice down-home country server. It was rockin', reliable, fun-kinda place. Now they've franchised and are all over the place. Must be at least a dozen in the Denver-Front Range area. If I had to rate them against the competition I'd say they are up there with the Texas Roadhouse and a bit better than Outback. A place to go when you want a deal on some beef out there in the 'burbs where the land and the parking is more available and the costs cheaper. It is a definite NO under the current management style! I feel this restaurant is no longer managed properly. The service we received was rude and awful. I've had better service at McDonalds! I thought it was only the waiter we had; however, the bar service too was very slow! We were there on a Tuesday evening. We (party of five) had to wait 35 minutes from the time we sat down before we got the attention of our waiter. When we finally got his attention, he was rude and snappy initially. He snapped at us and told us that he didn't have our table, walked away, then a few minutes later retuned and said "I guess I have this table". Despite him trying to make up and be half-friendly, it was all downhill from there. When we ordered our drinks, it took another 15 minutes for the drinks to arrive! The steaks, on the other hand were still great and arrived at a reasonable timeframe! We were greeted and well taken care of from the start and a few different staff came by to make sure we were good. We started with their version of Jalapeno Poppers. They are... Okay. The jalapeno is pickled, which is a bit weird. Had it been fresh jalapeno it would be a different story. I opted for the NY Strip, medium. It was good, but it wasn't the best steak I had ever had. Girlfriend got some steak as well, I unfortunately do not remember the cut, but she enjoyed it. The side of steamed broccoli was good and the caesar side salad was good too. The drinks are great too. Recently, I dined here with a friend on a Saturday evening. I was looking forward to trying another Saltgrass in Colorado. I didn't have a pleasant experience at another location. This visit was very redeeming! I enjoyed the layout of the restaurant along with the various items displayed on several walls. It brought back memories. We sat at a table in the main dining room. For an appetizer we ordered "Range Rattlers." You have an option to order four or six of them. Range Rattlers are Jumbo Jalapeños that have shrimp, jack cheese, and cilantro, stuffed inside of them. They're also served with ranch dressing. I very much enjoyed this appetizer! We ordered six and my three disappeared very quickly! For my entree, I ordered a rack of ribs with fries. Also, I ordered their wedge salad with dressing. Wedge salad was good. The ribs were good but not great. I enjoyed them. However, I feel that their steaks are better. It was my first time trying their ribs. Glad I ordered them but I would most likely not order them again. That bone-in ribeye is just delicious! Our waitress was kind and personable. The young lady who delivered our food was kind and took the time to ask if we needed anything else rather than just throw our plates on the table then leave. I very much appreciated this young lady's customer service. She actively listened to what I needed then brought the items to me with a good attitude and no attitude at all. I also liked that she exuded good vibes and didn't have a vibe of not wanting to be at work. Kudos to management for training employees to deliver great customer service to patrons. I was stuffed from my meal but decided to take some dessert home for later or the next day. I ordered carrot cake to go. Their carrot cake is outstanding! I loved that it was moist and not too sweet. Also, it's a very healthy portion. You can easily cut it in two slices or share it whole with another person. Very impressed with the dessert! Also, something else I noticed during my visit was the manager actively walking around the dining room and other areas of the restaurant. He didn't stop at our table which was okay. It was just nice to see him walking around the entire restaurant and interacting with people. If you're ever in Westminster, I recommend checking out this Saltgrass Steakhouse location. I believe I visited here when first visiting the Denver area back in 2010. So glad I decided to return here! I would love to return here to experience delicious more food and good customer service. Friday night at 5:30 pm, busy night. 5 top. We were seated quickly and our server was awesome! Very minimal wait time for drink orders. Food came out reasonably fast, and we did not have to wait for refills. The restaurant was full with plenty of folks waiting. I was impressed at the low noise level for as many patrons were there! We were all able to talk and hear each other, but most importantly to me, the sound level was perfect for my kids who have heightened sensory issues caused by the typical loudness found at most restaurants. This alone can decide whether or not we come back ti a restaurant or on what night we visit. The steaks were cooked to the requested temp, which at other places, can be a gamble. The seasoning of the steak was INCREDIBLE! Big shout out to the cooks there! Oh, and if you love Caesar salads like me, I could have eaten about 5 of them. So amazing. I came to redeem Xmas gift cards from last year. I was surprised that there are only 2 Saltgrass's in Denver. This one is in Westminster near 92nd & Sheridan. Nice menu with substantial list of cocktails, wine & beer. They have steaks, seafood, chicken dishes, appetizers, soups, salads, lunch and early dining menus. I had planned to have a lighter meal, but decided to have a full size dinner. I started with a 6 piece shrimp cocktail. Large shrimp with a cocktail/pico de callo sauce in a large goblet. Great appetizer for $15.49; My server, Justin said I could get 12 shrimp for $20. I got a classic cocktail, Bourbon Old Fashioned with Bulleit bourbon. A good drink. I got a 12 oz Pat's Ribeye for $31.89; All steaks come with a side and soup or salad. I got a Caesar salad and charred Brussel sprouts with sautéed mushrooms and onions on top of my ribeye. They also gave me large loaf of homemade Shiner Bock beer bread with soft butter. I ate it all. Justin provided me with large water and kept checking on me. I ordered the chocolate cake for takeout. I am going to be gracious and give this a 3 star. For the price this was a very mediocre meal. Inside restaurant is nice and spacious and very clean. My waitress was really nice but the food fell very flat for me. I had the New York strip with baked potato and brussel sprouts. The steak while cooked perfect lacked flavor at all and had a lot of fat for a New York. The brussel sprouts were almost a highlight but still lacked flavor and seasoning. My service gave this a 3 star but other than that I almost wished I went to the Outback. Won't be coming back anytime soon that's for sure. read more

This was the classiest steakhouse I have been to yet! I'm not one for the expensive tastes in life often, but you cannot beat a good steak. While in town to send my dear friend off for boot camp, we went big on her bon voyage dinner--all but drinks, unfortunately. The table's sirloins were ordered medium and the T-bone medium rare; a little disappointed to see one of the sirloins overcooked a bit and the T-bone was even sent back for being well undercooked. The wait staff were amazing and patient with us all throughout our dinner though! Justin was our main waiter & was helping train Eric, I believe. Two upstanding, kind gentleman who upheld quite intriguing conversation! It was quite a social experience and one we would welcome again come the next time in Westminster. The cake--YUM! Oh my god, it was SO rich & moist, but not too sweet! And the vanilla bean ice cream was so rich & smooth, but again, not too sweet. Hands down the best cake & ice cream combo I have ever had, and It's my go-to dessert for dining out. I have a newfound expectation for chocolate cake after this delightful piece! The atmosphere is very nice, very rustic, while seeming upscale in the right way. This isn't your Texas Roadhouse, so expect better food, better service, but a slightly heftier bill for sure. Worth every dime spent! All in all, had our steaks been proper or less of them better prepared the first time, this would be a 5 review.
