Typically stop in Wendover for bite. I wanted something other a casino or fast food. Atmosphere - I do not mind a dive for a meal or drink. But they are pushing on the limit of still being opened. Food Drink - Just water. Appetizer - Free chips and salsa. The chips felt homemade. Lunch - A steak burrito, they did not call it a carne asada. The size of the steak pieces could have been, but was lacking some the seasoning. The burrito was large, with just a little other fillings. I would order it again. Service - One waiter working the front of the house with a runner. They were busy men. The runner was also the cashier, paid $8 a plate for a total of $24. This is a cash only place. The service was SO fast and the food was amazing! At 6 months pregnant it's hard to find food that tastes good and fills me up and stays down all at once, but I had no issues here. Don't be frightened off by the run down nature of the place. If you can't stand eating there just get it to go. It's a Mexican restaurant but their bacon cheeseburgers are pretty much great. Also their chips and salsa. Two thumbs up. So much better than the Prospector cafe. read more

Kind of unusual to find such a great restaurant this far out in a somewhat isolated area. It is convenient right off I-80 at exit #4 in Utah and right next to a gas station. It was quite busy when we arrived but we were seated immediately at the counter. Before I forget, it's cash only here but a sign informs about an ATM located in the adjacent store/gas station. We both were interested in their lunch combos and my choice was the Steak Soft Taco, Chicken Enchilada, and Beef Enchilada and a Diet Coke with Lime. My wife's first choice included a Chili Relleno but it was out so she went with the Baja Grilled Chicken, Chicken Enchilada, and Cheese Enchilada and Water with Lime. Both came with Refried Beans & Rice. Having eaten at many bunches of Mexican restaurants over the years, I've experienced bad, fair, OK, good, really good, and amazing! Salt Flats Cafe is in the amazing category; all use the same basic ingredients but the quality and taste can vary widely. Everything here was delicious and the size of the drinks was a BIG surprise. Service was fast and friendly. They even gave us to go drink refills...all for just $14 (cash) plus tip! I'm a fan! read more

Made a quick day trip to Wendover and found ourselves hungry in a town with few restaurants outside of the casinos. Looked on Yelp to find only one restaurant with more than four stars, and they serve breakfast, so we gave it a shot. A little nervous at first arrival, but we love "mom and pop" restaurants so we took the chance. We were not disappointed. We were seated immediately, waiter arrived at our table to take drink orders and bring delicious homemade chips and salsa. Food arrived quickly, it was piping hot and portions large. I ordered the sausage cheese omelette and added mushrooms. It was loaded and oh so delicious!! My hubs chose eggs and chicken fried steak. It was massive!! We both said mmmm and "this is so good" several times. Also, I ordered ice tea and it was fresh brewed in a huge glass with lots of ice. Perfection!! The place was about half full and there were plenty of employees making it run smoothly and providing an outstanding experience for customers. On top of all of this, our bill was only $24. Seriously! Such a great value it was hard to believe. We left a $15 tip in hopes they would know of our appreciation and delight. We will be back whenever we are in Wendover. read more

After an adventure on the salt flats this place called to us from the help photos. We were not disappointed. Giant cups for dinks. Horchata was nice, of a bit sweet. Also the size of a child's head. Food was generous and tasty portions. Chicken enchiladas were tasty. This is a super solid no frills choice. Every other table is closed and wait staff were some of the best I've encountered for not leaning or the table or being in our space. Hand sanitizer is available as you walk in the door. read more

You get so much food for your buck here. They make fantastic authentic Mexican food. We got the steak taco and two enchilada combo and it was delicious. I personally wish I had gotten cheese in my enchiladas because I didn't care for the chicken. Nonetheless very delicious! They are local owned and so busy! This unassuming spot nestled in the highway stop of Wendover is delicious. There's nothing about the interior or exterior that would draw you in but the food and service were excellent. You can also have a nice dinner for 4 for under $40 which is incredible. This will be our new regular stop as we drive trip thru Utah and Nevada. read more

Howdy y'all. I'm traveling cross country right now and stopped in Wendover for the night. Unless you are going to a casino, there isn't much to choose from that gets decent reviews. So, we decided to hit this place. First off, it's a dive. If you aren't cool with that, you probably should be going somewhere else. It's probably a prefab house. That said, the food is good. It's a lot more of a traditional style place. The chips are home made and the salsa is decent. A bit thin for my liking. I had the Combo #2 - traditional relleno and a couple chicken enchiladas. The chicken didn't have much spice, but it was tender and still tasted good. The Relleno used a huge pepper and was pretty good. I would dig on getting two of those next time. Also of note, their rice and beans were good. That's one of the things I look for in places like this. I wasn't let down. The super cool thing was the prices. My buddy, his daughter and I only cost $25.50 If I came through Wendover again, I would definitely stop by here again. Cheers y'all. read more

This an amazing spot if you're on your way in our out of Wendover. Their chips and salsa are homemade and seriously craveable. I have gone back and just ordered chips and salsa, they're that good. It was time. I had been travelling West across the United States on my motorcycle, eating at various locations, and now that I was truly in the West, it was time for some Tex-Mex. This was it. I was not disappointed. I arrived in the restaurant a little after lunch time, though it was still quite busy. I was seated quickly, a menu was placed in front of me, and off I went in search of a decent meal. Fajitas it was, and fajitas it would be! They came out in short order, and I was in heaven. Plenty of all the little bits that you would expect in a fajita plate, including flour tortillas that were steaming hot. The meat was cooked perfectly, and there was enough guacamole and sour cream to keep anyone satisfied. Half an hour or so later, I was done...my hunger sated, and I was ready to roll on down the road in search of more interesting sights that the West has to offer. read more
