Service was great... BUT... I splurged for the $75 Wagu Ribeye Steak... and it was very disappointing for a $75 steak. In fact, I've had better steaks at Applebee's and Outback! The steak was flavorful, cooked to a nice rare-to-medium-rare, but there was a lot of waste and the steak was much tougher than I expected. I expected it to live up to the "melt in your mouth" texture, and it was definitely NOT that! My first, and most likely last, experience with Wagu beef was unimpressive to say the least. read more

As the only "fine dining" establishment in the culinary wasteland that IS a casino town..... this place just doesn't cut the mustard. They've got the pricing right for fine dining, it is expensive. They have the service down for fine dining, they are very formal and attentive. You have many, many forks, a lot of "stuff" on the table, and outside of the one or two jackwagons wearing tank tops (see: casino attire) you get the vibe of a nice place. The food. The food is a solid "meh" at best. We had a large party and here are the things we ordered and tasted: For appetizers we tried the onion rings and the meatballs. The onion rings were big, battered well, and very greasy. The meatballs were swimming in some sort of sauce and they reminded me of salisbury steak. There is a table bread and it was fantastic, honestly the best part of my meal. I ordered the 8oz sirloin steak, medium rare. It came out medium well and after waiting for our food for a good deal of time, I chose to eat it. It was grainy and tough, but I own that for eating an overcooked steak. The veggies that came with my steak were good, baby carrots and broccoli, and the wild rice was fantastic. I chose to upgrade my soup to the Lobster Bisque and it was truly disappointing. I ate the lobster chunks and left the rest, it was just not good. Other items ordered at the table were the Prime Rib (great reviews) the chicken (not so great reviews) and a few different cuts of steaks. Everyone reported steaks were a little too cooked and the hit of the night seemed to be the Prime Rib. So look. If you want fine dining, you'll get the experience and check for it here but not necessarily the food. But in a town of very few options, you may end up here anyway. read more

Delicious! The filet oscar was very good but the crab was old and dry and the bernaise sauce tasted like it came out of a can. So so on that. Potato's au gratin were to die for!!! So good Lava cake with coffee ice cream is a must have. Overall i felt like it was 5 star prices with a 2 star line cook in the back just heating up premade sauces and steam tabled food. We came as a group of six. That presents a problem as their reservation system is a bit wonky. Nonetheless we were seated quickly upon our arrival. The service at this location was impeccable. The food, in my case a chunk of prime rib and the wife's filet was not up to their usual high standards. Both were a little overcooked. Not bad enough to send back, but not prepared as well as we were accustomed to at this establishment. Everyone else in the group seemed satisfied with their meals so all in all it was a good experience. We'll definitely come back when we're in town. read more

I feel sad giving the best place in Wendover 3 stars, but for a $200 meal, it wasn't great. I started with the Manhattan. A Manhattan is a COCKTAIL. A cocktail is served in a cocktail glass. At least until the person ordering it says it is on the rocks. Even then, the person ordering it expects it to be served on ICE CUBES, not tiny little warm ice bits like you get from the ice machine at McDonald's. I ended up with a watered down drink that wasn't up. Nothing else looked interesting so the wife ordered a G&T and it was all watered down too. The steak was good and cooked correctly. The baked potato was a baked potato (yea) and the au gratin potatoes were good, but very salty. Dessert was an after thought. I've been here before, and was more impressed, but I was less critical. All in all, you have to make a decision. Do you want the "best in town'", or are you willing to slum a little and hope for a little lower place that exceeds expectations? If I were rating on service only, the Steakhouse in the Rainbow Casino would earn 5 stars. Unfortunately, the comfort of the seating area and the overly salty food cost them 3 stars. We asked for a table for two and were told they had only booths. My husband and I are average-sized for Utahns, a little overweight but not huge. It was very difficult to scoot around the booth and uncomfortable to be penned in for the duration of the meal. To add insult to injury, there was a table for two that sat empty at the far end of the dining room for the duration of our squashed meal. The woman who sat us ignored me when I complained twice that the booth was not comfortable. Terrible customer service! The waitress was outstanding! Courteous but not cloying. My husband's G&T was delicious but my Manhattan was watered down. My husband enjoyed the crab cakes appetizer.. My scallops in beurre blanc were so salty, it was hard to finish. The scallops were cooked perfectly, just way over seasoned. We both had the lobster bisque which is, by far, the best dish this kitchen prepares. The touch of sherry, the addition of vanilla creme fraiche, the over abundance of lobster, create the perfect food. I'd drive 2 hours any day for this soup. My husband's medium-rare prime rib arrived medium, but he's British and doesn't mind over cooked beef. My rare filet Oscar was kind of rare but not as rare as I prefer. The "Oscar" was a waste of effort and money. The lobster or crab was watery and, I'm certain, canned. The Bearnaise was horribly salty. I wonder if the kitchen staff taste the food they send out?!? After I scraped off the watery shell fish and the salt-lick quality sauce, the steak was fine. Not worth half of the $48 they charge. read more

Others seemed to enjoy their main courses, but nobody "oohed" and "awed" about their meal. The salads were ok, but if you take the time to bring me a "cold" salad fork, make sure the salad plate itself is not hot out of the dishwasher. The complementary bread was AWESOME... the lobster bisque soup had good flavor but the lobster meat in it was tough -frozen probably. But - the bisque tasted good. We were waited on almost immediately and gave our drink order. Our water glasses were kept full during the entire meal. I ordered the Mixed Grill plate. It came with a salad, vegetable, and baked potato. The salad was fine, nothing special but was cold and fresh with a chilled fork as a nice touch. Our main course arrived without a long wait and was hot. Halibut was a little overdone, the filet a tad salty, but overall good meal. After receiving a recommendation from one of my father's friends, we decided to head over to the Rainbow and check this place out. We were seated instantly, and our server was at the table taking our drink order within seconds. Not only was he prompt but he also had great tips on what dishes to try and was extremely helpful when my father had a question about something on the menu. We all ordered different cuts of steak, each liking our meat cooked in a different ways, and every part of our order was perfect and the food was absolutely delicious. After the bread and salad (or soup), we all only finished about half of the main course we were so stuffed. If you're in the Wendover area and hungry for seafood or steak, I highly recommend you try Steakhouse out. It is definitely worth the visit. read more

W. Wendover surprises me yet again. Booked the Montego thinking it'd be a dump, and it was quite nice in a Miami Vice kinda way! Walking around and trying to find something that wasn't a buffet, we stumbled upon this place inside the Rainbow Casino. It was the Fourth of July (a Wednesday), so they had a few tables open and were able to quickly seat us. Wow. This place really impressed me. The service was amazing at first although it did take a while for us and surrounding tables to pay the bill. I guess our server had gone on a break. The food was actually top caliber. Who would've thought?? We were STUFFED with steak and seafood by the time we walked out. The inside is cute too. It has a dark, romantic tropical kind of vibe. I'd go back to this place in a heartbeat. After wandering through "all" of the casinos, it seemed that this was the best dining option--especially if you're not into fast food or buffets. read more

Our party had made reservations a week in advance but were made to wait for 20 minutes after arriving while others were accommodated. We were also stuck in a table that was so close to another that the wait staff couldn't get through. The food though... the food. My steak was worth every penny, and the oysters rockefeller were superb. My wife had chicken that was also great and the table bread was warm and delicious. It makes me wonder why there is such a disconnect between the wait staff and the kitchen. The waitress didn't deserve a tip, but the kitchen deserves a raise. This is actually my second time at this Steakhouse. I am even happier the second time around. I live for crab cakes, yelp knows this. I love them here, avacado salsa and bearnaise with fresh lump crab and lobster. Pure heaven. The lobster bisque has half a lobster tail on it as garnish with crème fresh with a hint of vanilla bean. The butter that comes with the bread is flavourful and rich in taste. Filet mignon was cooked to perfection and the au gratin potatoes yummy. Service is great every time. My family and I (a large party about 18, we took three large tables) had an unexpected stay over in Wendover, and we stumbled across the Steak House at the Rainbow Casino (on my cc statement it is called "Over the Rainbow Restaurant) . We were very optimistic when we arrived, the atmosphere was great, and the restaurant staff seemed very accommodating at first. However, as soon as we were seated things changed dramatically. Our server seemed annoyed to be at work, and paid little attention to each person ordering. The food trickled out randomly, and every time the server brought a plate he looked around confused and had to ask multiple times who ordered what, each time promising to bring his "notes" back the next time. It took about an hour for everyone to be served, this was very unacceptable given that the restaurant was not busy at all. In fact, it took two separate requests for my 18 year old daughter to get hear meal, though she had been one of the first to order - and she was last to receive her food (a simple Ceaser's salad.) In fact, by the time I was fed up, and was ready to leave, my wife informed me that we were still waiting on additional food. I couldn't wait any longer, so we paid our bill and left. Worse than the service, the foot was sub-standard. Three of the adults ordered steaks. I ordered the NY steak, it was grisly and tasted like dog food. I took two bites and that was it. The other two adults ordered Top Sirloin and had the same experience. Horrible. Besides the forgotten orders, missing food, lousy tasting food, the care and attention of the wait staff was non-existant. Not once did anyone check on our table(s) to follow-up. Not once was there any apology for the long delay, the missing food, or the very bad quality steak. Finally, I couldn't wait for the check and I went and stood patiently at the back of the restaurant by the kitchen trying to get someone's attention so I could get my bill and pay - one of the wait staff who was sitting down eating, got up and with a mouth full of food, told me he'd take care of me. As we walked to the cashier, I noticed our waiter in the kitchen making an order for himself (while my table was still waiting for the last of our food.) When I looked at the bill and noticed it was over $200, I bit my lip and paid the thing. I wasn't once asked how my experience had been, or how the food was, or even, why I had decided to walk to the back of the restaurant and demand my bill and pay to leave. I was embarrassed to have taken my family to this place, I will not return, and would recommend anyone taking their family to this place to save your money and hit the convenience store across the street for better food and better service. read more

We came in here for a romantic dinner and it surpassed my expectations. We have ate at numerous upscale steakhouses in Salt Lake and also in Vegas and this one tops them all. I've never been to this neck of the woods before so I wasn't expecting much. I walked into the casino and was immediately impressed. This is not some backwoods Indian casino. We made our way to the Steakhouse and were seated in a comfortable booth. I ordered the 16oz prime rib with a dinner salad and wild rice instead of potatoes. The salad included a nice selection of fresh greens and a generous helping of dressing on the side. The croutons were obviously freshly made and delicious. The prime rib was excellent. I would give a 0 but I cant. My 92 year old grandmother had the chicken and she couldn't eat it and tried to take it home to not insult us but it smelled so rancid it had to thrown away. I had the coconut shrimp and the onion rings, the shrimp were bland and over cooked, the onion rings were under cooked and doughy, nothing I would ever want for 10 dollars a plate. I was not expecting much way out in the desert. I was wrong. The server arrived with a fresh, piping hot loaf of bread with chilled butter balls. We ordered an appetizer of blackened jumbo prawns with creole mustard. Wow!!! What a perfect pairing. Seasoning was perfection on this dish. We both had salads that arrived crisped like I've never had. The server hands you a chilled fork to go along with your salad and it is served with freshly made dressing in a little pitcher so you can add just the right amount. I had the Italian vinaigrette which had just the right balance of oil, vinegar and fresh herbs. While the salad is just basic mixed greens, cucumbers and a tomato it is exact what was needed between the appy and the main. Our entrees were cooked exactly as ordered. I had the Filet Oscar which is a beautiful concoction of filet mignon topped with king crab, asparagus, and bernaise sauce. Heaven!! Hubby had the 16oz prime rib which was melt in your mouth tender. We will be back!!!! The only problem with the whole night was the horrible couple seated near us the were so exceptionally loud and obnoxious. My potato wasn't good well and since the sour cream had turned, I let the waiter know and he just said, I'll let the chef know.....no offer of something to replace it. This place is AWESOME!!!! MY wife and I went in for a nice steak dinner and came out so stuffed we almost couldn't walk. The rib eye is absolutely amazing!!! My wife had the top sirloin and both steaks melted in our mouth. It was a little pricy but very well worth it. The waiter was by our table asking if we needed anything every few minutes. EXCELLENT, even better we had a buy one get one free. The cost of the steaks here are higher than a normal steak house but its classier. I really loved the live ceaser salad as well.
