July 10, 2026 - Wendover, UT A local couple highly recommended Salt Flats Cafe. We were glad we listened to their recommendation. I had the Chili Verde burrito, and it was very delicious. My husband had the shrimp and steak fajitas, and he was very happy with his meal. We called in a phone order, and it was ready within ten minutes. We ordered take-out, but they have inside seating if you want to eat there. read more

This is described as a dive on YELP but it is just a very casual local eatery with an eclectic vibe. As it is a family owned business in Utah it was a pleasure to patronize it. Plenty of parking, easy to find just past the NV casinos in Utah and busy at lunch time. I really enjoyed the food here. It really is where the locals go. We heard Spanish speakers plus cops, firemen and animal control officers. Upon entry you are greeted. You must wait to be seated. We received complimentary chips and salsa (very authentic), we were offered drinks and given the menus. So much to choose from. We settled on the Poncho Special plus cheese enchiladas. They both came with rice and beans. The Ponchos special had such flavorful meat and the enchiladas were so cheesy. Both not easily forgotten. The beans and rice seemed to be from scratch and each plate had a bit of lettuce and chopped tomatoes. Two rules. You need to wait to be seated and you must pay in cash. If you are stopping by the casinos, traveling down highway 80 or just in town give them a try. read more

Unassuming hole in the wall! Mexican-American restaurant in a converted mobile home. Perfect spot for lunch with the locals after visiting the Salt Flats. The prices were great and the portions very generous. The horchata was gigantic (maybe 24oz) and the asada tacos were flavorful. Complimentary chips and salsa provided. Service was friendly and had a small family feel. The bathrooms were on the rough side, and out of toilet paper. read more

A must try! We stopped by and got a Pancho special, a green pork burrito and a cheese quesadilla Everything was flavorful, the portions are huge and super affordable. They are Cash Only! The service was excellent, food came out quick. They even put fresh chips and salsa in our bag. The decor inside is super cool, especially if you are into car culture. I would for sure recommend stopping by and getting the pork with green sauce, yum!! read more

Food was great, portions were more then filling. Staff was very knowledgeable to food allergies read more

Fresh, real food. Like having Sunday dinner at your Mexican Abuela's house. Run by a family, service is very friendly and efficient. The Bonneville salt flats racing photos on the walls makes it fun. We're so happy to have found this place in Wendover. read more

What a fun discovery for us, even though many famous speed drivers from Bonneville have been coming for years! This place is popular with locals and if I lived here I would be one of them, weekly if not daily! The walls are full of autographed speed photos. The food has a handmade taste. My huevos were spectacular. Our table also ordered a hamburger, it was good to the last bite! All the workers were family and the owner has been cooking in Wendover since 1984! read more

Was told about this place by a local at Tona Vista golf course In Wendover Nv. I have been coming to Wendover for years and as small as it is, didn't know of the little gem. We ate there and came back the next day to try something different. Not shy with the proteins in the tacos and other menu items. could use a little more flavor but the chili verde is well seasoned. Great price for what you get. Will definitely frequent the Salt Flat Cafe next visit to Wendover. read more

Checked out Salt Flat's café recently & It was amazing! Definitely a hidden gem in the city. It's slightly southwest of the casinos. The chips & salsa came out quickly after we sat down. The salsa was really spicy! I couldn't handle much of it. It had good flavor just really spicy. My boyfriend ordered the Huevos Rancheros with carne asada. His only complaint was that he wishes the beans were on top of the chips instead of under the chips. He felt like it was hard to get to them until he ate the chips down more. He also ordered one single carne asada taco & he said he really liked this! Said the carne asada was cooked to perfection. I ordered the cheese enchiladas with rice & beans. This plate was massive! The sauce was dripping off the sides. It ended up coming with 3 enchiladas. More than I could finish by myself for sure! I'm not a lover of red enchilada sauce but I actually really liked their red enchilada sauce. The rice & beans were good. Service was really quick! Portions were huge & it only cost $30 total. They do only accept cash, so be aware of that before you go. read more

Great family owned and operated establishment. The chili Verde is the best in town. Skip the casinos and go here, but make sure to bring cash cash only store read more

John suggested that I eat lunch at one of the casinos, except I am horrifically allergic to cigarette smoke and very quickly realized- absolutely no. So- I landed at a small, authentic, Mexican restaurant. Cash only was posted on the door- check. I walked in and heard only Spanish being spoken, oh, this is going to be good! This is a hole in the wall- stand alone building, gravel parking lot with no lines- just pick your parking spot. Inside, tables were packed with families. I waited to be seated and was shown to a booth. I saw all the large plates around the various tables and EVERYTHING looked and SMELLED delicious! This was my last day in the area- with a red eye flight that evening and I am seriously thinking refried beans (which were delicious) were going to come back and bite me in the a$$. It was worth it! lol I ordered flautas- which were very tasty and the plate came with refried beans and rice- both delicious. I took my couple leftovers in the car with me since it was an hour and half ride back to the city. I loved touring the Salt Flats and this lunch spot was a huge hit for me! read more

Bottom line: Cash only, good food, friendly service, depressing desert ambiance, stray animals, and near the train tracks. When passing through the state line recently for a fill up, we decided to stop for breakfast. We arrived at 10:01 a.m. and were the first customers. Since our pup was with us, we asked if we could sit outside. The answer was yes, but we'd have to place a to-go order since there's no service on the patio. That was ok with us. Only one of the outdoor tables was in the shade so we snagged it. Shortly after, more cars started arriving and the place got pretty busy on Saturday morning. (There was a small wait when we were leaving.) The food was good, though I was surprised that 1) the breakfast came with chips and salsa that entailed flour (not corn) chips and super runny salsa, and 2) the chorizo plate didn't come with refried beans. We weren't expected to pay until we'd finished our meal, so it's kind of an honor system in that regard but helpful if you decide to order more. Around the patio are discarded appliances and trailers, some of which don't appear to have been occupied for years. We saw two (stray?) dogs and a cat as well as the passing train. The service was very friendly y hablan español. Prices were fair. Ladies' room could use some maintenance, a mirror, and a notice for employees to wash their hands. On the bright side, we didn't get sick! read more

Delicious food. Tasty carne asada. Would eat there again. Right on the edge of the Salt Flats.

What s glorious "home-in-the-wall" find. The flavors were so homemade. The salad had a kick, but surprisingly, the chile Verde smothered burrito was quite mild. Surprising, but good. My wife's BLT was perfect. Note: bring cash. read more

Cash-Only? Worth Every Penny... Once You Remember to Bring It!" Salt Flat Grill--what a hidden gem near the Wendover Airport! I've been here a few times, and each time it's been packed with locals, which is always a good sign. Pro tip: it's cash only, so don't be like me and waltz in hungry with only plastic in your wallet. Luckily, they were super accommodating and didn't leave this forgetful gringo out in the cold. The food? Fantastic. Authentic, flavorful, and generously portioned. The prices are more than fair--you almost feel like you're getting away with something. It's the kind of place where the salsa has a little kick, the meat is well-seasoned, and everything tastes like it came straight from someone's home kitchen. Now, I'm not an authentic Mexican (just a gringo doing his best), but I do know good food when I eat it, and this place absolutely delivers. From this gringo's perspective, Salt Flat Grill is the real deal. I've recommended it to friends and family, and I'll definitely keep coming back--cash in hand this time. read more

This place is small and cozy but has a ton of indoor seating. At $8.95 for the tacos and $10.95 for the pancho special, the price of food is unrivaled. It took a little while to get our food but it was excellent. Honestly nothing is stand out about the food. However, it is next to impossible to find better food at this price. We stopped here instead of Subway on our trip back home and don't regret it at all. read more

Been a while since I've dined here. Actually last visit was when they were in a gas station out by the salt flats. Not much has changed. I remember the "Pancho Special" from my previous visit and went with that. The asada is a fine diced style that wasn't overly fatty. Good flavor. Verde was meaty with a thinner sauce. Rice and beans were better then average. I also ordered a horchata that came in a huge cup. The service was very friendly. Plan on a very basic decor. Oh and most importantly bring cash! read more

I had heard good things about this place from a friend who always stops by here when they're in Wendover so I thought I'd give it a try. Right when we walked in we were greeted and sat down. They brought out chips and salsa and asked what we wanted to drink. The chips and salsa were just okay. I personally don't like thick chips and these were really thick. I could tell they were homemade, they had good flavor I just didn't care for how thick they were. I ordered the Mexican combo #1 which was a steak taco and 2 enchilads with rice and beans and it was pretty good. My friend ordered the street tacos and I almost wish I had ordered those instead, they were so good! The prices here are really good! For the amount of food you get and having it be so close to the main street of Wendover you can't beat it. When I come back next time I'm definitely getting their street tacos! read more

It does not look like much, in fact, it may be a little off-putting, but the food was great. I ordered the pancho special, which was a ton of food for under $15. I also tried the chicken quesadilla, and that was really good (very crunchy!) as well. The complimentary chips and salsa were great - I liked how thick the chips were and the salsa was very tasty.
