We were looking forward to eating lunch here after reading reviews. We stopped after taking photos at the salt flats and getting gas. The entrance was filled with boxes, you walk inside and there's a few tables with refrigerators to grab drinks. We ordered samosas and the Tikka Masala chicken special to eat in. The table we sat at was dirty and greasy. We used napkins to wipe it down. When they called our number it was packed to go, so they gave us plastic plates and silverware. The forks were tiny and barely usable. We asked for a sauce for the samosa and gave us ketchup! The samosas were very bland and undercooked dough. I began to eat my chicken Tikka Masala and bit into something with the most disgusting texture that I immediately spit it out and could no longer finish eating. Total waste of $22. We stopped off at the gas station to get some snacks on the way to the salt flats and saw there was an Indian restaurant attached to the gas station. It smelled delicious so instead of gas stations snacks we went with vegetable samosas. If you're in the area this restaurant is definitely worth stopping in to try. This is a mixed review. We had planned a larger meal, but ended up with dal makahni, onion naan, kheer and a salty lassi. The dal was very tasty ... liquid but lots of bean bits. The spice level was mild with a bit of zing and good spice flavor. The accompanying basmati rice was blander than what I am used to, but fluffy and fine. The onion naan was naan with chopped onions on top. The onions were sweet and the bread was soft and had a nice bit of char on the edges. Kheer was good with almonds, raisins and cardamom seeds. The salty lassi was not at all salty, but had chopped mint on top, which made me love it. I was fascinated to find an Indian restaurant at a truck stop out away from any city. There were many Indians ordering food here ... a good sign. And there was a small section of Indian groceries available, too. My negative is ordering. Since the pandemic, we try to do on line ordering where available. We Googled this restaurant, went to the website and ordered (and paid). When we went for pick up, we got blank looks and at first they claimed there was no website. We reordered from a smaller menu than was on the website. We called our credit card provider to let them know about the incorrect on-line charge and the bank cancelled our whole account and reissued a card. Yikes, but we did have another card for the rest of our travel. Speedway then told us they had previously used a website but found it wasn't a good way for them to handle orders and no longer used it. But apparently, did not shut it or the money collection side of it down. Lesson, don't do online orders casually. To their credit, a manager comped our deal and bread order. Definitely worth stopping before you hit Wendover. This town is a desert of really bad food so going 10 minutes out of your way will pay off. Unfortunately you can't dine in but it was prepared fast enough that ordering to go wasn't that bad. I ordered the saag paneer and chicken tikka masala. We stopped here based on the previous recommendation and we are sooooo thankful we did!!! I LOVE INDIAN FOOD and if this place was in my neighborhood, I would eat it everyday. This place is that good!! Granted it's not much to look at, but don't let that fool you. We ordered the vegetable samosa to at start. It was super flaky and the filling was perfectly seasoned!! We ate them so fast I forgot to snap a photo. Next we ordered saag paneer, chicken vindaloo, makhani chicken and garlic naan. Each dish was seasoned perfectly, with just the right amount of heat, and each had it's on specific flavor, unlike the majority of Indian restaurants where every dish tastes practically the same! This place is in the middle of no where and your most likely gonna be pretty surprised by this place. It sits in a gas station. We noticed no one was inside, all you have to do is press the bell or the doorbell by the kitchen. There was only one person running the cafe. a lot of this is quite self serving. We ended up ordering 3 dishes, we were able to customize it the way we wanted. The food was GOOD. with a healthy size of rice, we ate it all. There is no actual tap water, we were given a choice of bottle waters which we declined since we had our own. If u ever stop by, do give this place a try! read more

I came here for the Mexican place that has been here for years inside the Sinclair and found out that it has MOVED closer to town. The restaurant that is here now is not related or the same. Apparently this change took place about 6 months ago. I decided to stay anyway and found the place almost empty and visibly different than the previous restaurant. A menu had the name of this place as the "I-80 Speedway Cafe". The menu had American food, Mexican food, Indian food and a small section of Asian food. It looked as if the main selection of items was Indian food. I wasn't in the mood for trying new things so I went with a cheeseburger and fries. I was a little concerned about how my burger would be considering they seemed to have their hand in so many different types of food. My burger and fries came out fresh and juicy. I was pleasantly surprised and it did taste great. I may have to come back and try some of the other food, perhaps some of the Indian food. read more

FREAKING DELICIOUS!! who would've thought that this little hole in the wall indian style cafe would end up being my favorite restaurant in the wendover area?! I've got to admit, i was a bit skeptical at first, but i am so glad i gave this place a chance. i was slightly bummed that they didn't actually have naan bread (at least at that time), but the quality of food & service definitely made up for it! So I'm traveling from CA to CO and time on the road means I'm forced to overnight at Wendover. Casinos... Burger King... typical road nonsense. But I stop at a local hotel and turns out the check-in clerk is from India. So I ask -not expecting anything hopeful- whether there is any Indian food around because I'm not about to march into the Peppermill and scratch around for a half-assed meal. Clerk suggests Speedway out at Exit 4. Driving out, I see it's attached to a Sinclair gas station. Hrm. BUT really great chicken tikka masala. Rich tomato sauce, just the right amount of spice (not overly creamy North Indian, not melt-your-face-off Southern Indian - just right in the middle) with undetermined vegetable slices in the sauce (assumed onion). We were passing through and needed some lunch. Stopped here thinking it would only be the regular burgers and fries options. So surprised to find an authentic Indian restaurant at the garage stop! The food was superb! We ordered butter chicken, eggplant, rice and veggie Samosas. Everything was so delicious and we could not believe how lucky it was we stopped right there. This place is the definition of hole in the wall. It's sparse and dingy in addition to being part of a gas station/trucker shower station. You're not sure if you are going to walk away with food poisoning or disappear forever. I have eaten here 4 times now passing through Wendover. The food has NEVER disappointed. I walked in for breakfast and found that this was an Indian cafe in the middle of the desert! I was the only non-Indian person in the restaurant, and I got Shahi Paneer and chai that was amazing! What a gem- I will absolutely eat here whenever I pass through this lonely part of I-80! read more

We had a hard time finding this place, at least when we went, both google and Apple maps took us to the wrong location. And good luck calling them for directions! Not great English speakers. FYI it's at exit 4, east of the Wendover exit(s), in the lonely looking gas station/truck stop just north of I-80. Shockingly good Indian food considering it's in the middle of nowhere. We were the only non-Indian's in the place. It's surprising other reviewers are complaining about the service. It's counter service essentially, with no tip line on the credit card receipts. With that in mind, how high are your expectations?!? Our experience anyway is that it was fast and polite. Lots of pointing and nodding like you'd do in a foreign country. I love Indian food, cook it myself all the time, and know all the best places in any cities I live or travel to frequently. Never been to India but I've eaten Indian food all across SE Asia. Lucky enough to visit Bonneville Salt flat during July 2018 and feel double lucky to get Indian food on the exit to Bonneville Salt flat. The best home made , freshly made & mouth watering delicious food enjoyed with family & friends. You don't see anything for miles while heading from Salt lake city to Bonneville Salt Flats and then found the only spot on the exit and surprisingly " Indian Restaurant" . Feeling Awesome. We were on our way to Booneville salt flats and had been driving since morning without any breakfast. If one has ever travelled in that part of Utah you would know how lonely it can be. Anyways we saw a gas station and to our luck there was 'Indian cafe' in the middle of no where. We went in with least expectations and they blow our minds! The food immediately took me back to India. He didn't tell us that there was "No dinning in." We found that out when we arrived. Also that they had a menu with only Indian food. I like Indian food, and the menu was huge, but again and again, he told us, in a belligerent tone, "No we don't have that." Including "No naan." His English was so terrible I thought maybe I was hearing him wrong. But after much difficult back and forth with him, it became obvious that only very few items were available. I thought maybe the language and cultural differences between us were the problem, but we witnessed party after party of South Asians give up and leave without ordering. This is Avery good place for authentic Punjabi food. The food is spicy and perfect for an Indian's pallette. We tried their rotis, shahi paneer, baingan bharta and tea. Baingan bharta is not to be missed. My son loved the sushi paneer and soft, big rotis. Portion size: one curry can be sufficient for two adults and 1 kid. Rotis are really big, soft and thin and drizzled with ghee. Baingan bharta. We love your he Punjabi baingan bharta so we had to order this one.i just say this was the best BB we ever had. Shahi paneer. Perfect sauce, soft paneer. My son ate three rotis. They also have interesting Indian stuff like pickles, kayam syrup and churan, chikkis, jaggery, biscuits, saunders varieties at their cash counter.
